Failed to mount /system || failed to verify whole file signature || signature verification failed - Samsung Galaxy J ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Othe

Hello,
first of all thank you for this forum...
I have an old Samsung J3 2016. The device was very slow so I decided to try to install a custom rom, but I did something I hadn't to do! I even can't explain what's happening.
Some infos:
the device should be in debug mode
OEM unlocked
I have downloaded the original pit file using Heimdall
I flashed something ( I even can't recall what I have done) and now the device doesn't boot properly
I can put it in download mode (volume down + power button + ....)
I can put it in the other condition (?) (volume up + ...)
I have a PC running Linux Mint 20
I can connect the device to my PC through Heimdall but if I try to flash ROM I get errors*
I can connect the device to my PC through "JODIN3 Casual" but if I try to flash something JOdin tells me that my PIT file is corrupted and if I try to ask JOdin to make a custom pit file it tells me to restart the device. The device restarts and JOdin doesn't see it.
Error when I try to flash something or update from external storage: see file attached.
WHAT CAN I DO??
Pardon my bad english and the lack of infos due to my poor knowledge

Have you tried to reflash your Galaxy with Odin?
Downloads:
Odin
JM5 Firmware PASS: samsung-firmwares.com
PIT 512
Howto:
1.Open ODIN. (And close Kies, if you have it open. It is important to have ODIN open BEFORE connection the phone via USB!)
2.Select the PDA/Modem/CSC/.PIT files in Odin. (PDA=CODE, .PIT and PDA are required. CSC and Modem are HIGHLY recommended. They may be necessary depending on the PDA! Try flashing all three BEFORE reporting bugs, if you only used one initially!)
3.Remove the SD card and SIM card from the phone.
4.Turn the phone into the download mode by pressing and holding VolumeDown+Home+Power.
5.Connect your phone with your computer and wait until the drivers are installed.
6.If the drivers are installed, click Start.
7.The phone will be flashed and once it’s finished, it will boot up. (Do NOT disconnect the usb-cable, remove the battery or otherwise interrupt this process!)
8.You have successfully flashed your phone.

Your SGS is not broken you are just doing things without the right knowlegde.
Don't do things you don't understand !!!
Read before you do something !!!
Yes i have flashed mtimes with odin and successfully but this time its differrent i can't flash any rom and i keep having that error above
Welll it worked when i changed the .pit file which came with Odin to your .pit file and mine was 513 yours 512...but at the end when it booted there was one red line about some sytem ... it went fast so i could'nt read it but anyway thnx alot
You always have to use the correct PIT File for a Firmware.

somebody said "when some date is writing during the voodoo runing,at that time power off by accident could make SD Card block"
"E:\" can't wipe , how can i fomat E: partition ?
i'm keeping on wait
thank you
lets get this correct download mode works
Flashed to Eclair but still fails to boot as voodoo was enabled /is enabled .
Therefore phone cannot be seen by PC and cannot boot to format .
can you get into clockwork recovery mode and format from that and wipe all data .

i'm not good at English , so "Eclair" means 2.1 rom ?
1. when it turn off i can't get in recovery mode ,so voodoo is enabled when i flashed 2.2 rom .
2. i used a software named "UC xunlei" to down a salmpe 720P RMVB video at that time . then it turned off.
3. clockwork recovery can't use . only samsung recovery mode can get in.
4. my i9000 was sending to Samsung service centre yesterday, but they said "maybe they can't repair it either"
"sigh................."
I'll try to walk you through step by step through a method that has never failed..If it still fails then your internal SD might have issues..
1. Download XXJPU firmware from samfirmware.com
http://www.multiupload.com/PUSOOBQ8K5
The password to this zip file is: samfirmware.com
Once the file is extracted, you will have 4 files in it:
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPU.tar.md5
I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar.md5
MODEM_I9000XXJPU.tar.md5
s1_odin_20100512.pit
2. Open Odin
Download here: http://db.tt/QuA1G6s
That is a sure working Odin. The one I use. Extract that and run Odin3 v1.3.exe
3. In Odin:
check Re-Partition
Click PIT and select s1_odin_20100512.pit
Check and click PDA and select I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar.md5
Check and click PHONE and select I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar.md5 The file that has MODEM in its file name.. SORRY!!!!!
Check and click CSC and select GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPU.tar.md5
Do not touch any of the other options. Leave them the way they are.
3. Exit Kies (make sure it is not running AT ALL).
4. Put your phone into DOWNLOAD mode (volume down + power + home) and plug into your computer
5. Click START in Odin... if Odin gets stuck for a LONG time (progress bar isn't moving at all in both phone and Odin).. unplug phone, pull battery, restart computer and repeat from step 2.
6. Once Odin says it succeeded wait for phone to reboot.
7. If you still encounter the same error then report back here... I might have another idea. Hopefully you don't get the error again though...
Edit:
If that fails you can read this guy's post..

i can't enter in download mode, i also noticed that even the battery icon doesn't show up i only get loading icon not the battery one. Please help.
damnit, i tried the method anoneemooz posted. But Odin just stops after a couple of minutes flashing, and gave me the error message: Couldn't write to...
I can go in download modus and in recovery mode, but i cannot flash a ROM. I tried a couple of 2.2.1 ROMS
it dispaly " DATA_LOOP=FALSE CACHE_LOOP=FALSE DBDATA_LOOP=FALSE BIND_DATE_TO_DBDATA=FALSE"
now, i still can't wipe or fomat my internal SD Card
notice"E:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)

also it shows "Error mounting /mnt/sdcard/ android_secure!

[Q] Please Help CM7 error

I'm desperate I just followed the steps given for installing CM7:
# Make sure your phone is fully charged! Update process will take some time.
# Make sure there's enough free space at your internal sdcard (200MB)
# Make sure you've not disabled HSPA by using the dialer code *#301279#
# Download following files from sourceforge: Captivate | Galaxy S | Galaxy S B | Vibrant
- DEVICE-efsbackup.zip
- cm7-DEVICE-initial-kernel.tar
- cm7-DEVICE-initial-XXXXXXXX.zip
# Copy following files to your internal sdcard
- DEVICE-efsbackup.zip
- cm7-DEVICE-initial-XXXXXXXX.zip
# Flash a kernel which comes with clockworkmod-recovery using odin: Captivate | Galaxy S | Vibrant
# Reboot into recovery using 3-button-combo and apply DEVICE-efsbackup.zip.
- Don't use "reboot recovery" command or other shiny things to do this!
# Flash cm7-DEVICE-initial-kernel.tar as pda using odin without auto-reboot and without re-partition
after this when i try to install zip from sd card i get the following error:
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "galaxys" || get prop("ro.build.product") == "galaxys" || getprop("ro.product.board") ++ "galaxys"
E:Error in /sdcard/update-cm-7-03122011-NIGHTLY-GalaxyS-signed.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
I'm still sitting in CWM scared to do anything! Tried to restore backup but that failed too
What do i do??
Any help would be extremely appreciated!!
Martin
Looks like you didn't install the initial CM7 Zip, if it's not on your sd card already you should be able to push it with adb then install., after that try and install the nightly.
Which one is the initial cm7?
Should be called "cm7-galaxys-initial-20110304.zip" if you didn't download it, http://sourceforge.net/projects/teamhacksung/files/galaxys/
Also you may have to go through the whole procedure again. Give it a try though.

Thats the initial kernel to get CWM it has to be flashed thru Odin. then when that is done you flash the rest thru CWM (recovery)
He flashed the kernel, missed out the initial cwm zip though.
so should i install nexus drivers (since my phone doesn't have drivers right now) and just start from the beginning or push the initial cm7 file to the phone ( I have never pushed a file before so unsure how it's done)
Really appreciate you guys helping me
Btw i dowloaded the initial zip just need to get it to my phone now
You'll need to get the android sdk, or just adb.
Assuming you're using windows:
Connect your phone, open a command prompt on your pc and navigate to where you saved adb. Then type "adb devices" If it finds something then you can use "adb push cm7-galaxys-initial-20110304.zip /sdcard"
cm7-galaxys-initial-20110304.zip will need to be in the same folder on your PC as adb for this to work.
what do i do with my phone to push the file i have installed sdk and adb but my phone is sitting in cwm still
Yeah, adb should work in cwm. If it doesn't then you'll have to restore to stock and begin process from beginning.
I managed to push file and installed cm7 initial zip sucessfully. did a factory reset / data wipe and rebooted
so it's been stuck on the stock galaxy s loading screen for some time now not really sure if i should do something else
Double post
The text or the animation?
Just the text
can i just start from the beginning and flash CF root?
I'd go back to stock firmware first. Use JPC with 3 files 512.pit and repartition checked.
I'm sorry for being retarded but i don't know how to do that. i am immensely thankful for all your help so far!
Ok, first you need to get XXJPC firmware here. It should extract to 3 files, pda, modem and csc. Load them into odin (one for each box on the right) and select a 512.pit file for pit (might have come with odin otherwise download it), tick repartition. Put your phone in download mode then connect it to your pc. Press start. Wait for odin to say success, then your phone should reboot (it can take a while).
I'm running a european galaxy does that matter or can you flash any stock firmware i remember i wasn't a JPC before i was stock XW somehting
Yeah, it won't matter, I just know JPC contains dbdata which is needed to make sure it restores properly.
btw as i'm waiting for the dl to finish i see it's an exe file is that right? shouldn't it be a rar file?

Who says?
Which Rom are you trying to use and what are you coming from?
If flashing ODIN for JVU Rom :
Use ODIN with PIT File
PIT File Incase you need it : LINK
Open Odin and select 512 .PIT, and put in your files for : CSC, PDA, MODEM.
Check Re-partition and don't touch any other settings.
Turn off your phone and put it in download mode by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER.
Attach Phone
When you have all the files needed in ODIN, say JVU Rom for example as thats what we are using here
Click Start let it Run
Once complete you will see S logo on phone
Unplug Phone > Let it power up then Power Off > Again into Download mode
Then plug in Phone
Click Reset on ODIN then in PDA put in CF-Root Kernel File for JVU to be Rooted *File is included in ODIN Files*
Same again when you see S Logo on Phone unplug Phone Cable
Close ODIN
Let phone boot up ....
What I do now is go into
Settings > SD Card and Storage > Unmount SD and Wipe that and then at the bottom Wipe Format USB Storage
Before doing this make sure you have what you need from the phone as it will ERASE everything!
Enable USB Debugging by going to Settings > Applications > Development > Check USB Debugging
Plug in Phone and copy over your chosen Custom ROM that you want
Reboot into Recovery : VOL UP + MENU + POWER
Wipe the 4 things (probably know these... you should do)
If not you choose these by using the left side keys on the phone and to apply changes click Menu key
WIPE : data/factory reset > cache partition
Scroll down and go to advanced
Dalvik Cache > Battery stats
Go Back
Install ZIP (ROM) from Zip Card
Reboot Phone when complete... DONE!
Hope this helps a lot of people if not just ask here if you are still having issues to save peole posting same questions again and again
I made up the first part, but after the phone went into recovery mode

Helpppp
I have exactly the same problem. I had froyo 2.2 im new to this odin all these settings. Yesterday i was tried rooting my phone and I did. but after I mounted a courrupted rom from the recovery. and my android doesn't want to load. I followed the same instructions you just gave him. on these posts but now when i turn on the phone its the logo comes and nothing loads. Only Downloading VOL DWN + MENU + PW is working.
Are you talking to me devildrake? No, your problem is different and you need to flash the rom again too, not just dbdata lol. Do this.
Flash Gingerbread, in Odin (I always used JW4 but JVU will be fine) with 512 pit file and repartition checked. Untick reboot. Once its finished, unplug the USB cable and take the battery out. Put the battery back in and boot into download mode. Reset Odin. USB cable back in. Tick reboot again. Put dbdata.rfs in PDA. Flash.
Should boot into gingerbread. I've done this a LOT of times... Then you can go back to Odin and root.
If that doesn't work then I'd download a different version of GB, download new 512 pit, and download a new dbdata.rfs. Must be one of those corrupt.

Accidentally Disabled OEM Unlock on SM-N950N (w/ SM-N950F CSC), how to Recover Data?

Hey guys,
Here's the situation. I was in the process of completing the setup of my 768GB Note 8 (SM-N950N) with Dr.Ketan P12 custom ROM, and RZ Kernal (for DriveDroid support). Out of nowhere, my Note 8 camera just stopped working, and the Dr.Ketan ROM Tools and Tweaks Pro apps could no longer be opened. I began back-tracking my steps; tried reverting magisk back to v20.1, tried dirty flashing the ROM again, all to no avail. In the process of troubleshooting, figured it could be something I toggled under developer settings. Noticed that my OEM Unlock toggle was turned on, even though I recall seeing it turned off earlier during the configuration process (as explained by @dr.ketan here, scroll to Note for OEM Issue). Thinking it's ineffective, I turned it off and was prompted to reboot my device, just to get stuck at the boot screen
I came across the following forum post describing how to recover from the boot loop, without needing to delete any data, by flashing the latest available official firmware AP***.tar (removed the .md5 extension) file using Odin3:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/custom-binary-blocked-frp-lock-how-t3581010
The problem is, during the flashing of the Dr.Ketan P12 custom ROM, I chose to flash the SM-N950F OMC for SM-N950N, in order to use a Korean-Free CSC (more details on why explained here). So, even though I've attempted all of the following:
- flashed the current latest available official firmware AP***.tar file for SM-N950N,
- simultaneously flashed the current latest BL/CP/HOME_CSC***.tar.md5 and AP***.tar firmware files via Odin,
- flashed the latest TWRP***.tar custom recovery (failed probably due to OEM unlock being disabled),
- wiped cache via the stock recovery,
- tried booting via the "Lacking storage booting" option in the stock recover,
- tried booting to safe mode,
- tried using Smart Switch for PC, it (nor its Emergency Software Recovery) never detected my Note while stuck at the Samsung boot logo, nor did it detect it in Recovery mode,
- etc.it still won't boot-up, and I think it's due to the CSC (UK Unbranded - BTU) not being available in the official firmware.
When I boot into recovery mode, I get the following message:
Code:
#fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory)#
#Reboot Recovery Cause is [UNKNOWN]#

Would any of you folks have suggestions on how I could recover from this mess without needing to delete any data? Perhaps if there was a way I could add the UK Unbranded CSC to the official SM-N950N firmware and flash it via Odin, maybe that'll allow it boot? Please kindly advise, thanks in advance.

No luck on my end, lost months worth of data on my internal storage. Had to perform a factory reset on my Note 8 via Odin, reflash TWRP via Odin, then reflash my Custom ROM and tweaks. Lesson learned for real though
