Adaptive sound not available - Google Pixel 4a 5G Questions & Answers

Subject says it all:
After having installed the Dec. 2020 update, there is no setting for adaptive sound.
Any idea how to enable it, or why it does not show up?

I see the setting under 'Settings > Sound & vibration > Adaptive Sound'. I'm on the latest December update.

Thank you for you reply.
Good for you. Unfortunately it does not show on my Pixel 4a (5G).

Now adaptive sound settings are available on my Pixel 4a (5G).
Updating Device Personalization Services was the solution.

Woot! Installing now. Says it has aptX/aptXHD.....
Check your system update.....
Is there some trick to enabling aptX HD? I am going into the Dev Menu, selecting that as the codec, however, seems no matter what settings I use when connecting to aptXHD compatible headphones, it reverts to SBC every time. Anyone else seeing this?

New Update 03 July 2018 : Build No. 311

A new FOTA update has been rolling out to Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 (both ZB601KL and ZB602KL) on 03/07/2018. The complete changelog (provided by Asus) is given below :

Update Size : 86.3 MB
Changelog :
1. Improve Camera performance.

For more information, please refer to this link : https://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=221547&extra=page=1&mobile=2

Nothing much to talk about. Kind of a useless update.
Still, no equalizer
Sorry but don't know anything about equalizer, but I think double tap to wakeup is not working, I mean the gesture bug is still there?
Also the multitouch bug is still present.
Can't comment on camera performance.

No, double tap to wake up is working for me..!
Double tap to wake which was working for me till the last update stopped working right after this update for me.
Some apps have stopped working.
The SonyLiv App will crash when trying to play video after the latest update. Prime Video will work, as will YouTube. Lots of work still to be done on the software side.

The SonyLiv app is working after deleting Cache and App Data. Thank you very much.
Phone rebooted
Experienced a reboot with .311. This never happened with .309
Is any one checked that Activity launcher is working or not? When I open app crashed immediately. Any solution?
Issues noticed so far:
* Camera flash is disabled except available only in 'Auto Mode'
* Screen Multitouch still lags
* Fingerprint doesn't work many times
Anyone facing battery drains at faster rate after this update? And also skipping percentage?

Honor Play Android Security Patch for December released soon after EMUI 9.0.0 update

Device info: Honor Play, Model (Indian): COR-AL00
As you'll know EMUI 9 is globally rolling out, I have received the Pie update on Jan 10th which is sized about 4.04 GB. Again on Jan 18th I received another update which is an Android Security Patch dated December 1, 2018. It is sized about 240 MB.
See the screen shots below.
Whats new in the update:
> Nothing much. I felt not much of any difference in my daily usage after the update except the ones mentioned above. Digital Balance feature is good to keep yourself away from mobile if used properly. Or you can lose the Balance and abuse it anyway. Its your choice after all.
> Battery performance is same again. Its good like before.
> EMUI interface has some minor changes like revamped Call Screen, Recent Apps, HiTouch for Shopping, etc.
> Gestures are same as previous ones. Still senseless.
swipe from left/right edges for back (****ty gesture)
swipe up from bottom center to home
swipe up from bottom right/left for Assistant
> Suggestion here: disable the Assistant gesture in the Settings for better multitasking.
Bugs:
> I have one. It may not be present for others I suppose. After rebooting device goes to zzzVIBRATIONzzz mode on its own. I have to manually turn off vibration mode every f time.
> EMUI is just a mimic of iOS like all Chinese mobiles do. But transitions are not as smooth as iOS. Sometimes UI transitions jitters just like that. Of course Android mobiles can never make it up to Apple's iOS when it comes to interface design.
> Apps got killed in the background. May be due to aggressive memory management. Keep your favorite apps padlocked in the Recents screen to prevent this from happening. I hate Recents screen personally. Its like going back to old iPhone interface.
You should know that:
> Third-party launchers (Nova too) won't work properly from EMUI 9 as Huawei announced officially.
> Widevine level is L3. Some may want to know this.
> Themes are limited as of now as EMUI 9 is new to the market.
> Its a worthy upgrade for me. No going back.
I highly doubt whether Honor Play will have any Custom ROMs developed in the future as we'll know bootloader cannot be unlocked. XDA page for this device is useful only for information & news sharing I think. Or correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.
Let me know if you have any queries regarding update...
:good:
Best way to avoid aggressive memory management is to change display to 720p!
As mentioned by another user on here ?
I don't notice any loss of quality of screen, working fine for me!

Go to Settings>Battery>App Launch. Uncheck those apps you want to keep running in background i.e. manage manually. That's the solution.
If accessibility permission of 3rd party apps are being revoked automatically and you are annoyed of turning it on repeatedly, it's the solution.

Thanks for this. I removed almost all apps from running in background. The usage has become significantly better.

keeps waking up when it detects motion on lineage 15.1 w/ microG

Is there a way to disable it? I tried loading moto action apk found around forum but app never shows up, and there is nothing in settings that affects this behavior, except battery saving option.
I use Lineage 15.1 with MicroG because Xposed is not supported on 16, and I want to de-google my phone as much as possible.
I have X1900-1, Google FI edition.

On 16, you can just turn that off by disabling ambient display. Do you have that option?

VZ Note9 - APP Bypass Do Not Disturb Not Working

Greetings,
Searched for an answer and it seems like this is a bug.
I am attempting to use DND, but I want a specific APP to bypass DND. This is not working for me, not gmail, not third party apps.
I'm going to Settings - Notifications - App - Miscellaneous - Ignore Do Not Disturb
Turning this on does nothing. If enabled, when in DND, I receive no notifications.
Verizon Note9 SM-N960U
Android 9
Kernel 4.9.112
Build 180610.001....CSD1
Patch Level April 1, 2019
Thanks in advance
