Question for S20 FE owners using Prime Video and/or Plex - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

When using either app and using the app control to go full screen, does the video image extend past the camera cutout, all the way to the bezel?
I'm using the OnePlus 7T right now and neither of these apps will do that. There's a black bar hiding the camera notch. Netflix and YouTube do extend bezel to bezel because their developers are using the right Android API flag to do this.
I think that OnePlus developers do not implement the "show app in fullscreen" feature the same way the OneUI does. OnePlus support says it's up to the app developers, but I suspect that in OneUI and selecting to display an app in fullscreen, the OneUI layer doesn't actually tell the video app that there is a camera cutout, bypassing whatever flag app developers use. TLDR, can one answer my above question please? Thanks.

PLEX does not, but it does go right to the very edge of the camera, though if the video is cropped with black bars, it will be in further.

Prime video also just goes to the edge of the cutout. Unless I go into Android settings and force full screen for Prime. Then it goes all the way to the bezel. Plex does not appear to do that.
It appears there are multiple ways an app can go full screen because I have seen games that extend all the way to the bezel and others that just go to the edge of the cutout.

Selfie ?

When I taking selfie from my OP3T
It getting background alfabets and objects
in reverse but it not same in Samsung and
Huawei devices why ?
It's for all OP3T or only in my OP3T?
It depends on whither or not your camera app supports frontcam mirroring. I'm using CameraNX from the Nexus phone and there's no option for mirroring there either.
There is default setting of mirroring in front camera. Just turn it off

Wow, I've never noticed that, after owning the phone for 4 months! Thanks for pointing that out. I don't take a lot of selfies, but do from time to time. And apparently, never (on this device) with any text on my clothes or in the background. Otherwise, I probably would have noticed.
To change the setting on the stock OOS camera, tap the 3-line menu icon on the top left of the screen, then the gear icon on the top right. Then deselect "Invert photo". Which is not that intuitively named. The wording makes me think it will flip the picture upside down! Calling it "Mirroring" as you said, would have made more sense.
Seems odd to have this enabled by default (the opposite of my past HTC and Samsung devices). It makes sense to mirror while taking the photo (most folks will probably find this more intuitive for lining up the camera, posing, etc.). But not so much sense to have the mirrored photo captured/saved.
@CrayZee & @redpoint73
Thanks.

If u are in OOS stock ROM, there already the option to turn OFF the front camera effect, but in case u are in CUSTOM ROM (Where there is no Stock OOS Camera), one of the 3rd party camera that has the function of 'Front Camera Mirror ON/OFF' is the Open Camera app. U can get it at the PlayStore for free

YouTube fullscreen?

With all the new 18:9 phones released this year, has anyone managed to get YouTube to stretch in our mi mix to make those black bars go away? I've been looking for a way, but no luck so far
anyone ?
Search ''Vanced youtube'' that apk had got pinch to zoom feature which feels full screen.
Try VLC app, it has a "fit screen" function.

disable portion of screen with camera

is it possible to disable the entire horizontal area with the front facing camera on it, so that you don't lose out on a portion of your viewing experience? kind of like the notch / no notch options in other phones
So to avoid losing a very small part of screen? You removen 3 times+ more screen? ? Seems counter intuitive

Like someone else mentioned I don't see the reasoning behind that, but you could possible use another launcher like Nova and have the permanent status bar across the top.
The justification is that one is more distracting than the other.
I'd rather take the hit and have a smaller screen (lose 0.2 of an inch) than have video gain 0.2 of an inch but be hampered by a pill sized cutout that obscures video. It is a massive distraction. Arguably worse than the notch because at least that was flush at the top.
The question is whether we have the opportunity to control placement in software. If so, is that native support in android or would that have to be a custom feature via different launchers?

I doubt it will be native support and it will require another launcher.

LOL, Thanks, good to know. That surprises me since that cutout was a Samsung feature and Samsung isn't big on hiding their features.

According to the early reviews on YouTube, there's no option to hide the notch in MIUI, so I doubt you'd be able to in YouTube, I could be wrong though
can we remap assistant button on Chinese version to Google assistant?
wondering does most ppl prefer to crop youtube or any video just for fullscreen experience?
own 18.5:9 phone but most youtube video still 16:9 or new 18:9 (rare).
mi9 already have 19.5:9 screen, i will never crop to make top and bottom video gone just for full screen experience
In the GSM Arena review they play a game, and at either side I don't see a notch. It's really odd, because it doesn't look like there is, say, a black border around the notch either.
I will be interested to see for myself when my phone arrives

Project : petition to get true fullscreen under developer options (no more black bar)

Hi dear members.
Long story short, i am fed up with the display setting that it's supposed to force fullscreen on selected apps but that does nothing 90% of the time at best. I also noticed that many people over here and reddit hoped that developpement would help bringing this to life with time.
I see that we couldn't find a sustainable solution for this, no modding, no rooting, no custom rom...
Only "app cloner" manages the result but doesn't work with many apps.
I wish we could have a developer option allowing the notch to be ignored system wide. Even if it means losing that circle portion of the display with app details being rendered behind the punch hole.
I bought into losing a small circle, not an entire portion of my screen. End result is that the screen panel is bigger than the galaxy s9 (or my previous lg v30) but in reality there is less usable screen space with this phone.
If we manage, all of our apps could take advantage of the entire screen. Too many apps are cut on top or on the side (landscape). Other 16/9 apps arend centered (fullscreen browser videos, many games, video editing software,... I always went "immersive mode" with all my previous devices but with the Galaxy s10, that's impossible except for (almost exclusively) the gallery app and YouTube.
TLDR : i wish we could get true immersive mode system wide if we wanted to.
I would like us to launch a petition that we would show Samsung via Twitter or something. English not being my native language, is also need help to write it's description in a concise way.
If enough people would mind being part of this, or helping for visibility (like push for a front page article on xda, share with the other s10, s10e, s10+, note 10 forums...) That would be great. Not only for our devices, as power users but also, for future buyers since the gs11 will most likely have the same notch as the note 10 series.
Many thanks in advance !!
note 10 plus fullscreen immersive
Thanks much for posting this. I'm up to as well to get this done. I have done the immersive on other Samsung phones, s9 plus, note 9. Believe it or not this was the main reason I went on to upgrade to the this phone with the main purpose of doing the ADB Commands and get it full immersive but little did I know this is not possible with the note 10 plus. it's a disgrace that Noone seems to care about this
What apps specifically don't work with full screen. Everything I use is full screen and if not I change the aspect ratio on the app settings and it works fine.

It is definitely possible.
Search for "notch" module in Magisk.
Install it and then go to Settings-Developer-Notch -> select last one, no cutout.
Now immersive mode will actually be full screen. Problem is, right padding needs adjusting, otherwise the status bar icons will sit underneath the camera.
-----
It's not like samsung dev hasn't thought about it. But they went in the end with the lesser devil, disable the whole notch bar.
The main problem being that apps will not know to go around the camera. Nor have dynamic paddings for icons and buttons.
So for example with immersive mode on (full screen, no black bar) on all apps. You will notice that almost every app has the three dotted button, icon in the corner, which will be hidden under the camera. Samsung QC will never officially allow this.
Perhaps that's why Note10, S20 and the others, have the camera in the middle. Using immersive mode, will not cover much important info, so we might see it in the future on those phones.
But as it stands, S10 (or any corner cutout phone) will not display apps correctly, hence there will never be an official fix.
-----
Pro tip: Instead of enabling system-wide immersive mode and get frustrated in some apps, I remember there was a paid app, granular immersive, or something. Which allow you to enable full screen only on some apps.
But Magisk notch module has to be installed in any case.

TL;DR!!!
LOL jk man
if anything is going to get this done, itll have to be a device-wide system update that will be a major PITA for Samsung. I personally believe that not having this option is a literal mistake and to correct it, theyll have to admit that it was a f**k up from the get go. Im betting that "GoodLock" is going to be our best bet to get this accomplished as it is allowed root access from Samsung and its written by Samsung, so it can allow this "personal preference" that they should have built in in the first place.
Id bug the goodlock folks. Its probably your only hope

Is possible to achieve it Now. Download system UI tuner. Connect phone to laptop and execute adb commands to hide the navigation bar. Disconnect phone, go to galaxy store, download Good Lock, then open up the app then download multistar . Open multistar go to the last option to stretch The screen over the camera hole. Chose options to all.... Now go to system UI tuner and select hide navigation bar.... that's all
