120 Hz display on galaxy m51!! - Samsung Galaxy M51 Guides, News, & Discussion

I came across the ui on my galaxy m51 while tweaking the settings.. OneUi 2.5 showed option to change frame rate between 60 Hz to 120 Hz but switching was locked.. perhaps its another easter egg after Secure folder and Alt Z life on galaxy m51? may be software update or devs can unlock this on custom roms!!

What is alt z life?

I saw this but apparently on one ui 2.5 you can't activate this setting.

You can't buy Ford Fiesta and have Ferrari after software tweak.
Simply M51 display is not capable to referesh at 120Hz

Dear sir
I need bootloader unlock worning remove file of (samsung galaxy m51)

Density/DPI change

Hi,
I am new to the p7. I am used from my Samsung and nexus devices to adapt via build.prop DPI in order to see more things on screen.
Build.prop has no DPI setting. How (which app?) Proved to securely change DPI? And what is stock DPI for 1080 and 720p (rog)?
Thanks
No one feeling the need to show more on screen? [emoji22]
Hi,
Have you found a solution for this yet?
I've recently got myself a P7 and I'm trying to get something similar to 240 dpi(like my s3).
People have mentioned ROG tech, but I can't find that option anywhere.
ROG setting is under Settings - Power Saving, then menu (upper right corner) setting.
Rog? I tgought its resolution (I.e HD 720p instead of full HD1080p)? Is there also a setting for density hidden besides ROG?
rog doesnt do the trick
I've activated ROG, but all it does it help the battery to last longer, by reducing performance and screen res.
What I (and op) are looking for, is something to change the dpi (pixel density/LCD density). Like on samsung phones, you can do it through build.prop
No one managed to edit dpi?
Still have a problem...
Where.is the rog option in emui3?
changing dpi on P7 ??? such little screen ?? NO POINT it is tiny already ..

General S21 Ultra LTPO Discussion

All,
I was pretty curious to try the new screen tech since the launch event, today i got the device, enabled frame rate monitor on developer settings to see the LTPO in action, contrary to what they said on launch event the screen switches back and forth only between 60 and 120hz , 120hz during scrolling , 60hz when the screen is static without any input. It doesn't go all the way as low as 11hz
Wondering is this the right way of implementation , members please share your findings or information related to LTPO here to discuss upon

Give this a read - can't remember exactly what was said, maybe a limitation of the developer settings and not the phone

read them as soon as andrei published it, would love to see his deep dive into the new panel in s21 and see what benefits it brings to the equation

Ah fair enough, he's comparisons of the two models are always worth reading! I did find the bit I was referring to if that helps. Basically the OS can't recognise the lower refresh rate but they are there.
'One problem (from our perspective) with this LFD mechanism is that it is seemingly completely transparent to user-space, so there’s no good way to verify that it’s active or working - the OS simply states that you’re either in the 120Hz or 60Hz VRR modes, however with LFD on top the actual refresh rate can be different. One way to verify this externally is simply to measure the end-result that the new panel technology is meant to bring to the user: lower power consumption. It’s also here that we encounter some of the quirks in Samsung’s implementation.'
Will be interesting to see if the adaptive rate works in lower light unlike the note!

That's the crux, whether it works or not we are limited to either 60 or 120hz on os level. Hope there is a way where this can be monitored more precisely via some workaround
This app seems to report (and limit) refresh rates other than 60 and 120hz, but I don't know how if it's not exposed by the OS.

Those refresh rates (e.g. 48hz and 96hz on Note 20 ultra) are actually exposed on OS level. If my understanding is right on the way that current android system works, S21 ultra implementation is probably the same to note 20 ultra with the addition of10hz as the lowest in the predefined set of refresh rates.

Change screen refresh rate and/or resolution

Hello,
A happy owner of this phone, that said, can we via some homebrew apk change the screen refresh rate and screen resolution? get the phone on a just 1080p @ 24 fps, think how much then the massive bat, would last, if there is a dev out there, i could (and most likely others) donate a beer to be able to use it +<3
edit: what do you know.. it does exist on s20 video, think its easier, can someone get that pkg for us ?
edit2 : found this app unfortunately, still cant change resolution, and refresh rate cant go below 60hz..
Cheers
We can change resolution
Remove OneUI Lags/Slowness
1. Download Easy DPI Changer (Play Store)
2. Set DPI to 340
3. Set Resolution to 775x1680
4. Download Termux
5. Enter commands
5.1. su (Accept Magisk Pop-up)
5.2. settings put secure sysuiroundedsize 1
6. Set smaller font size in Settings
7. Enjoy!

Can you add support for Galaxy m21, only quick dose mod working for now, it does have a FHD+ resolution, if u can manage the ability to change resolution to HD+, less than the locked 60hz refresh rate would be a bonus, ill be glad to support

Added. Try to clear app data and open while connected to the internet.
Hoowee, Ty so much matey, i can confirm resolution change to HD+ working.. definitely getting the full version asap. i posted a question/request bout this in the galaxy m21 forum, I ll update the post there to make sure more ppl using M21 know bout this fabulous tweak. thx again <3 from morocco. "
Since i promised tribalfs to support his app, Ill do.
Tll try Easy DPI Changer + your method for 1st half of ramadan, and update here which method is best for more battery life, ty again for the help.
Back from a good away time, paid the homebrew galaxy max hz, as promised, his latest version, does not unfortunately support screen refresh rate, of our M21, but offer a quick switch between 2 resolution:
1560px X 720px @ 280dpi (fps fixed @60)Hz
2340px X 1080px @420 dpi (fps fixed @60)Hz
personally i dont see much of a difference, @ lower resolution for my 44 old years eyes.. but not much battery saving on the other hand
The app, offer a quick doze mod on screen off with 3 presets (base, plus, max)
Thats it ,
up to you if you want those funtions enough to support the dev..
Cheers !!
@Sagarking "settings put secure sysuiroundedsize 1"
think this messed up the roundness of my display.., can i have undo it, or get the default setting?

Question X3 Pro keyboard work at 60hz

Hi everyone, I have recently got an Oppo Find X3 Pro. I immediately realized that the keyboard works at 60 hz and not 120 causing lag in writing, and on social networks with autoplay videos it often goes at 60 hz and not 120hz .. is there any way to fix? otherwise you just have to sell it.
Thanks
Is it so important for you to have 120 Hz where they are not really needed?
On the video in social networks, most likely 30 Hz, maximum 60, why do you need to watch them in a single 120? What would the battery drain faster?
Laughter about the keyboard. If there is no 120 Hz on the keyboard, I will sell the phone. It's just cosmically funny.
the 60hz keyboard is real **** .. if it makes you laugh you should get a Nokia 3310 and use that. In any case I found a bug that with a white theme the keyboard works at 60 hz while with the black theme it goes to 120hz without problems .. and then in any case it is wrong to manage the panel from the software since the display should ALWAYS work at minimum hz and as soon as you touch the panel it should pop at 120hz like galaxy s21 ultra. It shouldn't be separated by app causing lag of all kinds. Now I also upload a video that demonstrates it!

The phone adjusts itself adaptively. If the video is 60 Hz, what's the point of displaying 120 on the screen?
This is called optimization, not wasted use of the phone battery.

It is called optimization if it does not cause lag .. the video must go to 60hz but the rest of the scrolling must not go to 60hz but must remain at 120hz as ON ALL the top range, example: Xiaomi mi 11, s21, Oneplus 9 pro etc .. none of these have ever given me problems of this kind. And in any case it does not justify the fact that the keyboard works at 60hz with a light theme and with a dark theme it works at 120hz .. it is clearly a bug and the poor optimization of details. In any case if there is a mod to always bring the joke to 120 hz as on oneplus otherwise you can also leave it alone to comment. Thank you!

Do you own all the flagships at the same time? Mi 11, S21, OP 9 Pro? I doubt it...
So basically you want to have lets say video played at 60hz on the top of the screen but rest of the view should be working 120hz(like YT app)? None of the above manufacturers have such technology implemented to support different screen refreh rate on various parts of the screen. If you feel im wrong - please share the proof.
Besides what is the the problem with keyboard working in 60Hz? Are u really typing faster than 60Hz?
Stop moaning, sell the phone, buy samsung or whatever else u like.

Maybe you don't understand what I mean. I do not want to see the videos at 120hz, but as on all the top range that I have tried and had for a few months example mi 11, s21, oneplus 9 pro, during the scrolling if you meet a video on social networks it should not go to 60hz otherwise it causes scrolling lag for every video you encounter and is annoying. The keyboard that goes to 60hz is an absurd annoyance because writing fast you can see the difference I was used to with the other tops. Then here we talk about dynamic refresh rate from 5hz to 120. But seeing even if you stay still on the home screen or on a photo, the display always works at 120hz does not go down .. but only on unsupported apps it drops to 60hz but not because it is dynamic but because those apps are not fully supported. Anyway, let's finish it here if there is a way to force 120hz on all apps well, otherwise I will sell it and take back s21 ultra, which, however, should not interest you. Thank you

Question Xiaomi Note 10 Pro

Hello, to the point. I want to lower my resolution to help snapdragon 732G, for better performance. I have 120Hz display, after wm size and dpi change, will affect my refresh rate? I want to set 720p
Default resolution is 1080.2400.
I want to lower my resolution for better performance, using ADB. Default resolution is 1080.2400, im thinking for a 720. My question, refresh rate will be affected? Will get 120Hz after my changes?
.... Why not simply trying it?
Because i dont wanna brick another phone
