[CLOSED] [GUIDE] P40 Pro ELS-NX9 - EMUI 11 - How to continue updating - Huawei P40 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Yesterday I tested with success upgrade my P40 Pro ELS-NX9 from build 11.0.0.151(C432E3R6P4) to build 11.0.0.153(C432E3R6P4)
- This was possible thanks to:
@IProfessor - for his great application HISuite Proxy
@SilviuO - for his great Guide on the P30 Pro section
@FF from team MT - fantastic tools
- The idea is showing that will be possible continue updating new builds in the devices that already have the EMUI 11 installed
- For the ones that have EMUI 10.1 installed cannot use this process to upgrade for EMUI 11, at least for Europe location (C432) because the links for ELS-N29-CUST 11.0.0.3(C432) & ELS-N29-PRELOAD 11.0.0.4(C432R6) are not known, I'm going to test it later when they became available.
- This guide was done with Europe C432 device, don't use this firmware on the different devices, you may brick your phone.
1- Check in the firmware finder if the latest EMUI 11 firmware is approved for installation.
If yes, you are ok to jump for next step.
2- Add the xml link and the firmware package name in the Hisuite Proxy, and press setup.
3- Open HiSuite_10.0.1.100_OVE and connect to the device.
4- Press Update button and you have to see the firmware that you chose for installation, press blue update button if it is the case, do not process if you see differnt firmware.
5- Start downloading the firmware to the PC
6- Copy the firmware from PC to the Phone
7- Update is completed.
8- Settings/About phone - you can check new firmware installed
* ATTENTION: YOU are choosing to install new firmware at your own risk.
* I do not take responsibility for any problems with your device.

Update from L19C636B320 to NDR90M test-key

Hi everybody, I'm new comer and using Huawei P9. Version L19C636B320
I tried many times update to B361 version by Huawei updater and Hisuite but unfortunately It didn't work. Follow some guideline I have just download update of L19C432B360 and copy to "dload" folder in my device, using power key and 02 volume button, it has been work and now my device version is: NDR90M test-key.
After that, I have use "update.app" file of some version (L19C636B361, L19C636B190) for change version again but it's not working and when use hisuite said that:
you are using the lastest official version.
Current version: NDR90M test-keys(Official)
Note: I cannot find the "check for update" function in Setting menu too.
Please help to explain what is status of my device?
Should I worrier about the next update? My device can be normally receive OTA update or not? What should I will do now?
Many thank for help!
(Sorry if any mistake on my English)
The same here.
I have a P9 Lite Gold L31 brand Vodafone ITA with no mods from the box, and I tried to update via Proxy following instructions of a non-specialized website.
I choosed FULL OTA 1,29 GB ca. and now I have NDR90M test-keys - Android 7.0
The phone seems to work but reading online it semms that this is not a regular package and I will not receive updates.
I became to shake myself with no ability to do anything.
Please tell me what to do to go back to previous situation (smartphone as out-of-box branded Vodafone with marshmallow and correct serial number) or at least to go to a situation where I'll can update via official channel.
Thank you so much, I can also pay you via PayPal.

EVAL09C432B166 - update to B360 or B361

Hi all,
I'm a complete newbie here so would appreciate any kind responses being kept suitably simple. I've just bought (early January) a P9 in the UK, sim free, unbranded running EVA-L09C432B166. Its last security update is July 2016.
I came to this phone as a warranty replacement for a Nexus 6P boot-looped by the December Andriod 7.1.1 update on the basis it would get Android 7.0 soon. However, there is no sign of this via the updater or the new HiCare app. I've tried installing full versions of B182 (though I might need this as a step to Nougat), B360 and B361 from Firmware Finder using the dload method (volume up/power button and dialler method) but they all fail at around 37-40%. Does anyone have any ideas whether the B166 version will ever get an OTA update to Andriod 7.0 (Huawei reply with the same general statements about it being rolled out in batches) or can advise what I am doing wrong when trying to update manually?
Thanks in advance!!

Try installing B182 MM and than procede to these steps. This is how I managed to go from b182 to b361 (than I got an OTA update to B387 ):
Update to Nougat B360/B361 using Huawei Updater
Only works on B182 or B360
- Only works CUST 432
- Only works EVA-L09 Single SIM
- Only works Unrooted devices and locked bootloader

9. Back to main HiSuite windows and click on "System update"
10. Press "Update" and wait download firmware. This smartphone reboot and start upgrade!
Thanks very much, but...
Hi, thanks very much for your response. Unfortunately I appear to have two problems with it.
Firstly I have been unable to update to B182, it does not appear in Hi Suite or Updater and I have not been able to update via dload as the update fails.
Secondly, I run a Mac not Windows machine so no Hi Suite for me I understand.
Im afraid you will have to use a windows machine. Following these steps you will have zero problems. I was also on B182 and all went smooth without a single problem.
edit: sorry,, I read "I have been able to update to b182". which version are you using right now?? what methods have you used to get to b182? and lastly what errors have you encountered?
I'm on B166. No update shows in update or HiCare. I have tried updating to B182 using firmware finder using. dload. I have tried using both power/volume up buttons and the dialler method with dload in both internal memory and on SD card. All methods fail at around 37-40%..
I am not an expert at all so any advice would be great, thanks.

I'm resurrecting this thread as am in exactly the same boat Steve. Did you ever figure this out?
Contacting Huawei customer services, they were cagey saying the update would be rolled out in batches then when I gave my IMEI number to find out, they became very cagey refusing to confirm or deny it would be updated at all..
Considering returning my new (cheap deal) P9 if it cant/won't be updated to N and EMUI 5.0...
S
After lots of 'pushing' by Twitter message. Huawei confirmed update process commenced in Q1 of 2017 but they would not commit to whether it would end within that period. They confirmed that my P( would be updated and that if it wasn't updated by the end of the process they would push it manually to my IMEI. SO ti does appear I will get it - eventually.
Just a little bit to add to the mix, I sent my imei to Huawei today only to be told that I'd bought the phone from carphone warehouse and the firmware id's slightly different and won't be updated until May, they wouldn't say what the difference is as my phone is still an open market version! Frustrated is an understatement I thought I was getting a unlocked phone!!! Think I'll be sticking to a Google phone in the future, at least you know where you stand!

Update nougat EVA-L09C25B136

Hello, I have an EVA-L09C25B136 that's on EMUI 4.1 and Android 6.0. When I check for updates there are not any updates.
The phone is from a latin american carrier "Claro DR" and I haven't done anything to the phone, so it is pure stock. Is there any way I can update this phone to the latest available version for this model?
I have searched the forums but the guides are not directly related to my exact build so I want to be sure before I go and damage it.
Thank you.
FirmwareFinder. It can download every available build from Huaweis server..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder&hl=en
How do I know which firmware is compatible with my device?
When I get the list and check every one of the options available, none of those say that they are for my build number.
Don't know what you did.
Open FirmwareFinder, normally it'll recognize your build. In your case EVA-L09C25. If not set the model manually.
Then tap the refresh button and the app will show all builds.
Tap on the first one (EVA-L09C25B320) and ckeck firmware access.
A pop-up will appear with following text: "Firmware approved for installation Models ... . So, there's your latest build (with Nougat, EMUI 5).
For further information about FirmwareFinder and how to use it please check the forum or ask google.
Here is what I did:
In firmware finder indeed it recognized my phone as EVA-L09C25.
1) Click the refresh button.
2) First two firmwares said not approved for installation.
3) 3rd on the list: Firmware aproved for installation Models for Installation: VIE-L09C25B320. Shouldn't be EVA-L09?
4) Tried downloading with firmware finder proxy, download stops at 74%, and closes updater.
5) Tried downloading the zip file and extracting the UPDATE.APP and copied it to the root of the SD Card in the dload folder.
6) Started the update on reboot it says that the firmware is not compatible.
What else should I try?
Well, I've seen what you mean. Very strange. I can only assume that it's caused by C25. It's not even listed in the cust list here https://www.huaweiblog.de/firmware-update-was-bedeutet-cust-emui-und-co/ (german).
Sorry, that I don't know more.

[TUTORIAL] Downgrading to EMUI 8 using HiSuite

When I was trying to downgrade the old phone of my GF (single SIM, FIG-LX1 or P SMART 1st gen) all of the tutorials didnt work for me at all.
The one with Huawei Firmware Finder via Google Play was tedious altough i know how to change DNS, use eRecovery and all that jazz didnt work at all and the phone would throw me fit after fit.
Then I was reading too use older versions of HiSute and again change DNS and i gave up cause all ended up not working and thats how I figured out a way myself.
I will not be responsible if you lose any of your data doing this since it will wipe the phone completly
You will need:
- The phone ofc - make sure its charged all the way
- USB cable
- SD Card minimum 8GB
- Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 FIG-L11 FIG-L31 hw eu HLRCF Figo-L11 Figo-L31 9.1.0.115(C432E5R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014XFJ 05014XMW - search androidhost.ru
- HiSuite
Steps:
1. Download the mentioned firmware from androidhost.ru
2. Extrach the dload folder from the zip to your desktop
3. Place the dload folder in the root directory of your SD Card (use a formatted one min. 8GB capacity)
4. Power down the phone, install SD Card and hold both volume buttons while powering on the phone to engage Force Update
5. Let the update finish its job and the phone will reboot too setup screen so just quickly set it up to reach the homescreen.
6. Connect the phone via usb and choose file transfer (for me it only worked that way)
7. Under my computer right click on HiSuite open and click HiSuiteDownloader
8. Finish installing HiSuite and follow on-screen instructions so the phone will be detected and connected to HiSuite.
9. Click Update and now bottom right of the window it should ask you for older version so click on it and it will present you with going back to EMUI 8.
(Explanation: I figured out if you run the latest version of EMUI 9 HiSuite will not present you a older version button thus you cant follow the process in my tutorial so thats why you downloaded the very first EMUI 9 build where it lets you do it)
10. Let HiSuite do its thing like downloading, installing and so on and do not unplug the phone until you come back to the setup screen which will be the EMUI 8 style one.
11. Good job :good: you finally downgraded to android 8.0 and now can unlock the bootloader if you choose so (unlocking costs money - search another thread for that i only focused on downgrading the phone so you can do it if you wish)
Well I hope this tutorial will help you as it helped me!
Feel free to like/thanks this thread and share if it worked or not
Hello! I have the FIG-LX1 vodafone Spain (only I can use one sim card). With Emui 9.1 and dicember 2019 Android patch security. Could I follow the process? Thanks!
I tried this and it worked, thank you! I was getting really mad at the slowiness of this phone in EMUI 9, it was getting worse in every update.
I also want to point one thing. You mentioned a firmware download on android-host.ru of " Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 FIG-L11 FIG-L31 hw eu HLRCF Figo-L11 Figo-L31 9.1.0.115(C432E5R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014XFJ 05014XMW". While this may be right for your phone model, it may not work on every model. As I see from your post, you have the C432 model. People should look for the firmware for their model or else it may not work (in my case it was C02 and I also found it on android-host.ru).
Other thing I would like to point out is a question. I am not experienced in smartphone modding but as you downloaded the 9.0 firmware in order to downgrade from HiSuite, couldn't you just have donwloaded the 8.0 firmware and install it up front instead of having to pass in HiSuite? (I have not tried this, I have sticked to the instructions provided here. As I said, I do not know much of this).
Nonetheless, thank you again for making my phone usable!

@TOY_O_MACHO Where have you found the C02 firmware? I try to find it with EMUI 9 version and i cant find anything. I only see this one:

I think that this is the first 9.1 version with C02 (15-june-2019)
Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 Fig-L11 vodafone default HLRCF Figo-L11 9.1.0.115(C02E6R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.1.0 05014XVU [androidhost.ru].zip
Starting from 9.1.0.176 (C02E11R1P5) I've downgraded to 9.1.0.115(C02) through sdCard.
Then through HiSuite downgraded to 8.0.0.144(C02).
Next step ---> unlook bootloader!

I've tried with 8.0.0.134(C02) through SdCard but the process fails on start.
I don't know if repeating the procedure without HiSuite(putting in SdCard 8.0.0.134(C02)) would have worked equally well.
Got it Working perfectly from 9.1.0.203(C432E11R1...) to 8.0.0.176(C432).
1 Step Closer to Bootloader Unlock
Im sorry to say but this guide does not work.
At least, not for my region which is c782 (UK). I did try with the rom you mentioned anyway, just in case the region would not matter but obviously it does.
There doesnt appear to be a 9.0.x version available for my region on android host so I guess I am totally stuck.
I've tried every downgrade tutorial in existance and none work. every dload method seems to fall over. Tried both androidhost.ru and firmware finder roms and just get nowhere. I give up!
Thank you. I was able to downgrade a FIG-LX1 that was not running latest EMUI 9.1 to EMUI 8.0, and then used another tutorial to flash and older version of EMUI and unlock its bootloader.
Anyone having the 9.1.0 C40 or C900 version by any chance?

Hey everyone,
So after bouncing around the P30P HiSuite proxy method thread and thanks to @jericho246 for his earlier post with the path to the .148 full OTA package, I have successfully flashed .148 from .136 for my EU C432 ELS-NX9 as shown below. It's possible to do the same for C605 and the other regions as well assuming you have the correct, approved firmware too. For those on C432, I feel your pain having to wait so long for a working solution as EU always seem one of the last continents to get the newest updates. So now we can have the June and July Android security patches and hopefully all the camera and other improvements carried over across, including .142. Big thanks to the OP @@SilviuO , @IProfessor and everyone from the original source as well that made this all possible for us P40P users: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...de-how-to-flash-approved-fullota-zip-t4112775
This method will also work for those coming from even older versions prior to .136, assuming you use the newest approved firmware for your region and model and that Firmware Finder says it's safe for installation. I wouldn't recommend trying to flash any unapproved versions for your device even if it might look like there's a newer version available on FF as it's probably not for your region yet!
CHECK for your approved OTA Firmware FIRST: Download and install MT Firmware Finder here to check that your firmware is approved and usable for your P40P. DO NOT try to flash firmware that isn't approved and/or isn't designed for your region as this might brick or mess up your device! For example, TN-AN00 is for Chinese region models and not for C432/C636/C605 models. Click for the Google Play Store mirror for those with working GMS
NOTE: I did not need to do full a wipe but backed up via HiSuite anyway just in case. All of my apps and settings remained intact after the update. I don't have GMS so can't confirm if that's still working though.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Download and install the latest Hisuite_10.1.0.550_OVE Desktop Client on to your PC (you DON'T need to locally download the full OTA as HiSuite will do that for you later)
2. Connect your P40P to your computer, making sure ADB USB debugging is enabled under your Android Dev options and agree to install the HiSuite app on your P40P when prompted. Continue with the next steps until the HiSuite desktop client recognizes your device (the app will ask you an authentication code as well if you've not used HiSuite before). Do a local Backup of all your data to your PC just in case while we're here.
3. Close down your HiSuite Desktop client and download and run the HiSuite proxy.exe (unzip all of the files first to anywhere you'd like)
4. Configure your HiSuite proxy for the suitable version and software region of your P40P. Your cust/model is shown next to your firmware build number under Software Update/About Phone.
FIND THE URL TO YOUR UPDATE THROUGH THE WEB-BASED FIRMWARE FINDER PAGE HERE (make sure you check your region and model back on the app to ensure it's definitely approved for your P40P, in my instance for my EU C432 ELS-NX9, the model began with ELS-XXX)
For .1XX -> .148 C432 EU ELS-NXX MODELS ONLY: Paste this URL for .148 in the package path: http://update.dbankcdn.com/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G5633/g1604/v434397/f1/ , followed by ELS-LGRP4-OVS 10.1.0.148 as the version next to it and tick the 'Point Version' checkbox. After that, click on the Setup button to finish the proxy configuration. From what I understand, .147, .148 & .149 are identical anyway according to the update log so just edit the version number and paste the new package URL for that one instead if you want to flash another build as stated in the online Firmware Finder database above (make sure the path ends in /f1).
Make sure the output log says it's ready for installation before you proceed and don't close it (as shown in the attached picture). If it comes up with any error messages, make sure your antivirus/firewall isn't blocking it.
5. Launch your HiSuite Desktop Client again, connect your P40P and click on the Software Update option after which it will detect .148 or the build you pointed the HiSuite proxy to. Keep your HiSuite proxy app open in the background throughout the update process!
6. That's it, all done! It's worth wiping the cache partition too in Android recovery mode if you'd like as that's what I like to do every time there's a large update.

One question. I downgraded my firmware to 131 to be able to install the google services. Now regulary update to the recent firmware (automatic updates through phone) doesn´t seem to work. It says 131 is the recent firmware (one my phone). Is this normal or is there a workaround? Thanks for any infos
