Is root access still only available to Note 10+ Exynos chips? can root on Snapdragon? - Off-topic

I light of recent developments, is root access still only available to Note 10+ Exynos chips. I have recently found some information. Indicating:
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus is a large 6.80-inch screen smartphone boosted with 12 GB of RAM and powered by Samsung Exynos 9825 SoC and the other one with Snapdragon 855 chipset for US/China region users. If you are planning to unlock more features of your Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus, then you are at the right place. In this article, we will guide you on how to root Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus and unlock its bootloader using Magisk Patched boot.
Is it possible to root my note 10+ with Qualcomm Snapdragon chip 855. I have the most recent update of stock firmware and model Sm-975U. Build no. RPIA>200720.012.975USQU5ETLL. I hope I have posted in the right place, if need place avdise.
P.S I am not new to rooting, I have rooted both my Note 3 and my Note 8 using the instructions on XDA whitout any problems. I like the Note model, but not the restrictions and bloatware. If I purchase the devise I should be able I to do as wish. All Sansung needs to do is put in a disclaimer, like XDA, "proceed at your own risk".

Converting Samsung galaxy note 5 to note 7

Hello everyone
I read this post about the note 7 ROM here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...om-n930tuvu1apgc-6-0-1-deodexed-knox-t3461513) and I really like it. I have though a question.
Actual Status: My Samsung galaxy note 5 N920T is already rooted since yesterday with odin and I installed the grace ux of the note 7 but it seems to be the ROM of the beta version. I have some struggles here because the S Note App and the S Pen features are combined. I have the S Note App from note 5 and note 7 and the S Pen features are mixed from both devices as well. I also can't dial or receive calls.
Questions: 1.Is the ROM provided fully equipped functions well?
2. If I want to install it do I need to root my device again and do I need to uninstall the actual ROM?
I am looking forward your answers.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Samy

Galaxy Note 5 OFFICIAL Nougat RELEASED, possible port for Galaxy Note 4 (N910C)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b3IbkOrkYtE
The official Galaxy Note 5 Nougat firmware has been released on SamMobile. Since Nougat is the most complete Android version in existence while also improving battery life marginally, I think it would be amazing if someone could port the Galaxy Note 5 ROM for the Galaxy Note 4 International Exynos variant (N910C).
Lol
Or the 910V!

To port a certain firmware the device has to be on the same software level or the hardware should be the same eg: The note 7 "Grace UX" came out with marshmallow so devs were able to port it to the note 4. The next scenario is where the hardware is of the same. The note 5 has a 7420 exonys chip set while the note 4 has the 5433 chip set. So this is clearly impossible. Our best bet is the Samsung Tab s2 which has a exonys 5433 chipset and is due to receive nougat somewhere by the end of may

One thing that confuses me, is that devices like the Galaxy S4 and even the Galaxy S4 mini, have completely stable roms running Nougat, even though Samsung stopped updating those after Lollipop. I see AICP, ResurrectionRemix and all these other projects that create this amazingly rock stable rom for the devices, yet for the Exynos variant of the Galaxy Note 4, there doesn't seem to be any movement. :crying:

I used to own a samsung s4 myself before i switched to the note 4 and it was the i9505 (snapdragon variant). Android Open Source (AOSP) roms are possible only for snapdragon devices because the soc's are open source and exonys as we know is manufactured by samsung and samsung does not release the sources thats why AOSP roms are not easy to port to exonys variants. I regret switching phones because the s4 has so many stable aosp roms while the exonys variant's get nothing. Hope i answered your question

Ahh yes, I had a feeling it had something to with the chipsets. It's a shame, I paid full price recently to buy the Exynos variant specifically for modding. I chose Exynos over the Snapdragon variant because the Exynos chip is 64bit compared to the Snapdragon which is 32bit, so it seemed like a better choice given that the Android ecosystem is headed towards 64bit ever since Lollipop and so I would be future-proofing my device. Unfortunately now it seems Exynos is a lot more difficult to make roms for I guess it's almost like comparing the PS3 with the Xbox 360: PS3 has more power than the 360, but the PS3's CBE chip is so much more difficult to make games for. Here's hoping for a long and fruitful development life for the Exynos Galaxy Note 4 :fingers-crossed:

Also samsung doesnt advertise their exonys devices as 64 bit and marshmallow for the device is also a 32 bit os. In short samsung doesnt utilize the full capacity of the note 4's 64 bit chipset. But the advantage is that since the device and the chipset is made by the same company the phone is more fluid and responsive than its snapdragon counterpart. Something similar to googles pixel, software and hardware made by same company

Out of curiosity, which rom have you found to be the best and most stable for the Exynos variant? Or are you using stock?

I regularly switch between stock and custom roms. The best ux based roms are Pirobot v6, Doola v12 and DN7 v0.1
If youre looking for something close to stock erobot v19 would be the best

Yup, v19 seems to be the best. I've found that battery life is abysmal when on UX roms :/ plus, there are far too many bugs from DN7 that I tried. I stuck with erobot 19 and am using Samsung's GoodLock and it works amazingly well. To be honest, I'm not bothered about the GraceUX anymore; Samsung's GoodLock literally does it all while looking sleek. So I've found erobot + GoodLock is the best combo so far! Only downside, fingerprint lock screen doesn't seem to be functional, but other than that, everything else is golden. I was tempted to head back to stock rom but it seems that Samsung cloud doesn't allow the Galaxy Note 4 on stock rom to backup and restore music and other files from Samsung Cloud. The only way I've found Samsung Cloud's backup/restore to fully work is by using erobot and hence why I've stayed away from stock.

There is something which I'd hoped you could help me with, I'm on erobot 19 as you know, for some reason the multiwindow tray keeps popping up randomly. It's the tray that pops up when you hold the back key but it seems to pop up randomly even when I'm not holding down the back key. Do you have any ideas how to stop that from happening without completely disabling multiwindow feature?

I don't think it is the old one, i mean i can see the split screen option above the app card when in recents but then you also have the option to open the app tray which has a bunch of apps in it that you can open in pop-up view.
I would take a screenshot of it but the side multiwindow tray disappears when i try to.
Good lock is causing the popup. All versions after .10

Root Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 phone with Bootloader V5 already installed

Hello,
I'm watching for rooting my SM-N950W (Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Note 8)
Presently, I want try to have Samsung Firmware : little bit debloated, deknoxed if possible, with no Bixby and less similar duplicate Google apps with Samsung tags.
I want able to mask my root like 'Magisk Hide' apps, because some apps not like rooted phone.
I see on :
[ROOT][SNAPDRAGON] SamFAIL for Galaxy Note8[V3]
for Root USA Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Note 8! (N950U,N950U1,N950W)
SamFAIL last rootable bootloader is V3...
But mine phone have already bootloader at : U5XXXX or S5XXXX=Bootloader V5
I want to know :
Do you know I can able to downgrade my bootloader V5 at V3
with Odin v3.13.1 (Comsey ODIN)
and full STOCK firmware V3 available on sammobile.com ?
If you have better option for my Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with Bootloader V5...
I not necessery want to brick my phone.
Thank you.
AFAIK there is no way to root that phone.

I know this doesn't help you AT ALL, but I unpacked my phone when I got it, turned it on and plugged it in, then came here to re-read the Sam fail instructions a last time because I had already downloaded all the software, and while I was reading the instructions the phone was updating to the v4 bootloader. I had no idea until I grabbed it to boot into Odin.
We're completely boned. I look every day for a new exploit, it ain't gonna happen ever unless the douchbags at Samsung toss us a bone, and I guarantee you if you asked an exec right now they would answer "note what? Aight? What's that? We have a note nineteen in the pipe, was it diesel powered?

What a ridiculous reaction, just for not being able to root. I guess this kind of language/behaviour is against forum rules, hope so.
Funny thing is that one could have easily prevented update to BL4.
For OP, no root needed to do what you desire. Just disable the apps/functions you don't want with one of the available disabling apps...

Well, i see colored language. I will survive.
I know, i can desactivate many apps. but not neccessy Samsung apps. I can desactived Gmail for use BlueMail. But, parameters is not available for Samsung browser.
And disabled it, but apps used space only for Bloat my phone.
Curiously, at same time this previous message, I receive notification for new samsung rom update... I not installed it.
Do you have recommendation for cleaning more apps (like samsung browser) and not using root for me ?
I got tired of the cat and mouse game between exploits and samsung on their snapdragon variants. After the note 4, I switched to their exynos variants. The note 8 international version is compatible with most GSM bands, and is similarly priced to other variants. I have a note 8 duos and was able to root it within half an hour of receiving it. Most carriers of the snapdragon variants, especially all USA variants, require Samsung to lock the bootloader, and leave it unlockable to the public without exploitation.
I know this doesn't help you directly right now, but maybe in the future.
P.S. I know the n950w is the Canadian variant, I mentioned the USA variants because of their locked notoriety.

Without discussing the impossiblity to root, and while admitting that disabled apps continue to use storage space, you are indeed able to disable Samsung apps. I use Package Disabler Pro (not affiliated whatsoever) to disable bloat/unwanted or unused stock apps without any problems. With Note 8's storage space no issue for me to have the apps not deleted.
Package Disabler Pro... do you can specify me publisher? i see only version for s8 or s9... not already note 8...
Thank you.
Just look in play store. App states for all Samsung devices, including S9 and S9+.

1- Rooting is pointless at the moment and too risky.
I just use
- Nova Launcher Now to get 6x6 Grid [Awesome]
- Enable Developer Mode [Enable 2D Graphic Rendering]
- Reducing Animation [Through Samsung One Ui settings]
This Fully Customizes my Phone.
Rooting wouldn't grant me any thing special, just risking my phone.
2- Why I am not interested in rooting?
Back in Time. During the release of Devices like the Note 3.
Note 3 Rooting was important because you could Get Note 4 Features [Screen off writing, Ultra power saving mode which was only in Note 4/S5]
Now The Note 8 Has the same OS As the Note 9. Even it has Emoji and Super Slow Motion Video.
3- Snapdragon users, Shouldn't really despair.
Because they are Lucky they Can Install Google Pixel Camera APK, But Exynos users cannot.
So thats an advantage, And boy it takes Amazing shots specially portrait mode shots.
4- The Note 8 is basically a Note 9 Minus 20% Extra battery and S Pen remote features [Which Note 9 users don't use any way], It has One Ui and Dark Mode So Why would we need Root? What could the Note 8 basically have? ALSO You have Package Disabler Pro Saves Everything.
Can you give root instructions for note 8 ???

Is there a way to root snapdragon variant through magisk?

Hi there, I just bought a galaxy note 8 but somehow my carrier send me a US Snapdragon variant of the galaxy note 8.
I searched a lot and learned about the SAMfail method but to be honest, I think this is too much disadventages (Screen bugs, no Safetynet, battery bug stuck at 80%) for not that much advantages, so I would like to know if there's a way to root it through Magisk or at least another way to root even with superSU minus the bugs provided by SAMfail method?
I ask here because I've searched a lot before but sometimes someone will say "this" and sometime the other say "that" and at last I don't know which one I should listen to ?
Thanks a lot

Is there any way to root Note9 Model: SM-N960U?

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I have been searching for a way to root my note9 that I got from Tmobile. I'm still trying to understand the lingo thats used in this forum, as I'm not too tech savvy.
Its my understanding that the only note9 that can be rooted is the SM-N960F
I have two older phones as well that are not in use, a note5 and Samsung J7. If I can't root the note9 I would like to root the note5 or the J7. The only thing that I saw from searcing in rooting the note 5 is to downgrade the software, although reading through that post it seems like there are some issues with the root, that I dont quite understand. And then I saw there was no way to root the J7.
In the future I told myself I would get a root friendly phone, although I love my note 9. I have rooted my note 3, when I had it many years ago and it was through a simple program. If anyone has some insights, I would appreciate it thanks.
