Question 4G Exynos Poor Performance - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Hi
Tried comparing the S21 Exynos 4G performance against the S20+ or S10+? It's dissappointing...
I think most users are hitting their home or work WiFi and haven't yet noticed this issue with the S21 Exynos 4G.
If you have these phones and can do a comparison, I would be very interested to see if you duplicate the same poor 4G S21 problems: latency higher, download not as good and upload pathetic with the S21 Exynos series.
See my original thread here:
4G Performance on Exynos S21 Ultra is waaayyy slower than an S10+ or S20+
Hi Has anybody else noticed that the S21 Ultra doesn't seem to deliver consistent and reliable 4G speeds, particularly in terms of 4G uploading. I've done a comparison between my S21 Ultra and a S10+ both on the same network (EE) and the results are shocking. The S21 Ultra simply doesn't...

Thanks.

On my phone the 4g is better than my mate 20 pro and my oneplus 7t Mclaren... (all with same Telekom sim) but my 5g is bad... 4g is faster all the time (okay im in germany and think we have good 5g only in the vig cities and due to lockdown we cant test it)
Have the Updates made any improvements for you?

I don't know. Pretty good here.

No problems....

No improvement.
The problem is exaggerated when you have only an average signal strength. The modem is much more sensitive on the S21 and does not provide a good real world experience.

Same problem here. Any solution ? Thnx

I'm getting the same performance on the Ultra as I am on the Mate 20 pro...both on LTE and 4G.
Which means that the bottleneck in my case is the carrier.
Somewhat related : I ended up forcing band 12 with less bandwidth but better signal in my area..the phone stubbornly picks band 4 for almost double the bandwidth but 10-12dBm lower signal.
My battery is thanking me. The speed isn't everything.

I have the issue where i have very poor signal although my operator supposedly has very good signal in my area.
Ever since I bought the device in february my signal has been weak. I have aroumd 110-118dbm and speed of aroumd 50-70mb. My wife has an iPhone and same operator as I do and she gets 60-70dbm and at least double the speed. This is crazy, Come on samsung. This is ridicilous.
I hope an modem update will solve it but somehow it wont. We need to make samsung aware of this issue. My battery is kind of lacking because of this issue.

Anybody using Mix as daily driver in London?

Hello all Mix fans.
I`m currently on S7 and looking for a change. Been fan of Mix since it came out, but only now prices have come down to affordable levels for 256GB model.
I`m on Vodafone and I do know Mi doesn`t support Band 20. What would that mean in daily usage? Slow 4G speeds? No 4G at all? Bad reception in weak areas of city/between tall buildings?
I`m trying to understand how it this will affect my daily usage.
Thank you.

If it helps, Im using the mi mix pro (256gb) in israel for a couple of days (received it 4 days ago) and I get 4g/LTE with no problem and I have not experienced any reception issues at all.
You should definitely get this phone (almost passed out during the unboxing from looking at this masterpiece).

Hey, good point.. Im in my room(not in London obviously) with no 4G connection(never showed up, not even a single bar) where my previous device s6e+ used to get 2 bars of 4G reception in the same exact place.
On the street, it's ok but no 4G reception in weak areas as well.
Side note: You'll be missing the quality of s7 camera too.

7.5.4 Épic
I've been using my Mi Mix in London for the past week. I'm with Virgin who are using the EE network.
Reception and wi-fi signal is excellent almost always get 4g speed. Excellent phone reception even indoors.
Should not be a problem on Vodafone or EE network. Great coverage.
I'm not in London but I've been using the Mix in the UK for more than 6 months now, so I can offer some general insight.
4G will depend primarily on the network you're on - without band 20, compatibility with UK networks is limited.
EE is your best choice with both hands 3 and 7 used by them (as well as band 20, of course) and particularly since their original LTE roll-out was on band 3, I believe they have more coverage on band 3 than on bands 7 and 20, so it'll be the most consistent 4G service you can get on the Mix.
Vodafone have some LTE on band 7, though my experience is it's patchy - all but non-existent in some larger cities like Edinburgh but I got it in Birmingham. They seem to have focused more on band 20 unfortunately.
Three have some band 3 but I have no idea what the roll-out is like, I suspect not great because they got the band 3 spectrum from EE after the auction when they purchased the band 20, I believe. I could be wrong though.
O2 only have band 20, so if you want to use the Mix with them, you need to accept that it'll be 3G only.

Cellular strength and throughput

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro)'s LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.
I have had the phone for 3 weeks and no problems with the signal or clarity
it's very ok . I was able to call and receive calls even in the elevator while it was moving:laugh: I have the poco f2 pro (obviously global)
I have the Chinese version here in the US. I can't not get service on any carrier I've tried. Voice and messaging has been okay but I get no data at all. I've tried Cricket, mint, visible and MetroPCS.
On AT&T in OK, US, Poco F2 Pro. LTE is decent all around. The worst of connectivity so far is with bluetooth earbuds for me. Signal drops and hiccups are more common than they were on the OnePlus 6T.
LTE is non existent for me on AT&T, can't access the network. I can only use HSPA and it's not a strong signal. I've been playing with different bands.
In Czech Rep. no problem at all, full LTE, and at summer they will start 5G Vodaphone - we will see !

5G is only N78 for EU, that means in future no 5G for you.

How do you play with bands ? My signal drops as soon as I walk into buildings .. Then after a few minutes it reconnects on hspa+ But outside I have great LTE coverage.
My Samsung note 8 never had these issues with same carrier and same sim card

Does anyone if using EU rom instead of Global rom on Poco f2 pro would make a difference in cellular signal strengh if using it in North America?
i got issue with signal strength. on global miui 12 latest stable. not sure if it's firmware issue. 4G signal is kinda poor inside building compared to my huawei mate 30

If you got uw then you were practically standing on top of it. I've seen 5g on my phone but no huge boost in speed. I get about 65Mbps d/l and 12 u/l.
I have a business account with over 700 lines with verizon and had an in-depth conversation about 5g with my rep as I didn't want employees asking for 5g phone because they hear it was so much faster. I'm glad I did as it is not ready yet for everyone.
She mentioned that ultra is not available in all areas as of now and that standard 5g is being run on top of the LTE network. She did say that standard 5g is a little faster than LTE.
This being said when I see 5g I am seeing up to 150 up and 20 down.
They needed to compete with Tmob and att since they are all doing the same thing and put it on top of LTE until they can have ultra 5g in most areas.
I hope this is helpful info.
Got the update today on my Verizon pixel 5 and I now have 5G Nationwide sure hope the battery life stays the same

I am on AT&T and I get the "5Ge" instead of LTE, which is basically LTE Enhanced.

Dual frequency GPS (L5) in Exynos version?

European versions of Exynos 4G Samsung Galaxy S20 (both FE SM-G780F and the standard SM-G980F)
Does these phones support Dual GPS with L5/E5+ signals?
Is the GPS quality good, both accuracy reported by the phone reports and compared to other GPSes?
The following post points to an app that will show if L5 is available:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s20/help/send-screenshot-gpstest-t4074421
The regular S20 has a much more attractive price now, but I like the flat screen and plastic in the FE. The European S20 FE 5G has SD865 with slightly better battery and performance but it is not worth over $100 extra for me.

Hi I have the s20fe 5g SD version,it does not support L5 accuracy seems comparable to my mate 20 pro though which does.

General G9980 suddenly showing 5G on TMOB in NYC!

Today, all of a sudden, I see 5G showing up on my HK model G9980. I just did the big update Doesn't feel faster than LTE. Does anyone else know about this?
Has TMOB got additional 5G banks that work in the US ? Did they just switch them on? It means this is now a US and much of ROW 5G phone.
It's Low Band 5G on Tmobile, as you stated not much different than 4G LTE. Tmobile doesn't offer super fast mmWave 5G, only Verizon and AT&T but at this point their coverage is very limited. Since there's not much difference between Low Band 5G and 4G LTE it might be better to stick with 4G LTE as 5G consumes more power. You can check compatibility with your IMEI Number here.

Yes, but the point is the 9880 doesn't have band 260 and 261, and up until today I never had 5G in the US on this device.

It's likely 5G Band N41 anchored to 4G LTE on Band 2. Both of these are functional on the SM-G9980 and utilized by Tmobile.
Can you explain what you mean? I would like to understand better.
I notice there's a developer option called 5G Network Mode (SA + NSA etc). What is that all about?
Wonder why it showed up after the latest update...

NSA anchors the control signaling of 5G Radio Networks to the 4G Core, while the SA scheme connects the 5G Radio directly to the 5G core network, the control signaling does not depend on the 4G network.
It says 5G most of the time now but speeds are essentially the same as 4g in the US. So it isn't real 5G?
OP just got his juices flowing.
?
I've noticed significantly better speeds in Chicago.
