E-SIM Functionality on One UI 3.1? - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

Interesting report on Sammobile this morning re: Samsung enabling e-SIM functionality in the One UI 3.1 update - for those that have received the update, is the e-SIM now enabled? If so, for what model and region?
Your Galaxy S20 series phone may have eSIM functionality on One UI 3.x
Samsung has released the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 firmware update for the Galaxy S20 series many weeks ago, and ...

doing a quick search in settings I get one result that's nothing to do with E-SIMs.

Ah, that's unfortunate, as I have the same model (but still on 3.0). Thanks anyway!

Salut
Je me posais juste la même question! Serons-nous en mesure d’avoir la fonction eSIM sur notre Galaxy S20 FE et les modèles KH (SM-G7810) seront également compatibles avec cette fonction?

At this point, no one knows - we'll see with the 3.1 update, but it appears unlikely. This is why you should always buy a phone that has the features you want/need, and never in the hope that someday it might.

[Q] S3 Mini - EAP-SIM Wifi Stopped Working with Android 4.1.2

EAP-SIM Wifi Stopped Working with Android 4.1.2, but it was ok with 4.1.1 in February.
Any Ideas how to fix this?
The phone is completely standard, un-rooted and un-flashed etc etc.
EAP-SIM is a type of Wifi Authentification - ive not seen it in the UK but its very popular around Europe, it basically lets your phone connect to the Wifi provided by the Mobile Network anywhere without a password or username.
Thanks a lot, any help appreciated, were desperate to get this working.

Samsung is working on a fix.
How do you know this? I emailed their technical advice line and they said they are aware of the problem but have no plans to fix it. Then closed the case.

SM-N9500 in France

Hello, I'm french and I live in France. I've received my Note 8 but it's a N9500 model with a Hong Kong product code TGY and in France we normally use an XEF product code. The box was closed when I received it so that mean that the retailer couldn't have made some change inside. My questions are about the ROM update. Do you think that I will receive the Samsung update in OTA even in France ? If not, could I make the update with the SamMobile ROM ? If yes, could I be sure to get the Play Store ? Today it's already install in my phone but I've read that the Google Play Store is not allow in China ?
And my last question, is it possible to change the CSC TGY by an XEF one ?
thanks a lot by advance for all your answers.
Regards from France

No, because you're french !
You will receive the OTA, even if Google Play it's not pre-installed, you can side load it and finally, yes, you can change the CSC !
Bon courage !

I am not sure, I did not try it myself.
You can take a look here, it's a S8 forum but it can help: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/changing-csc-root-t3607242
If this doesn't work, rooting and flashing a multi CSC ROM should do the trick. I don't know if there are any for your model, take a look :https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development
It seems that in your case rooting may be tricky but still possible :https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/note-8-n9500-root-tarp-t3694044
Anyone more knowledgeable, please jump in !

mybay i can help you i have rom.
Hello and thanks for your answer. But I have read on french forum that it's impossible to have an XEF Rom on a SM-N9500 anyway. For the moment I got the Samsung update in time (I have an Hong Kong rom) and no network problem. The only things I have not it's Samsung pay, volte call and the possibility to use S pen with my keyboard
Hi!
I have also SM-N9500 csc is TGY(HONGKONG)
you can check here
http://www.phonemore.com/compare/pho...-n9500/6303040
it is only Rom problem,
normaly SM-N9500 much more capable from SM-N950FD,
but i think china don't give a permissions for video calling,
and our SM-N9500 has a software barrier for this.
Are there any people will solve this problem?

If XEF is Exynos then You won't be able to flash it on Your Note8 as it has Snapdragon inside. You can probably install Play Store with "Google Installer" made for Xiaomi phones. But running European rom on it will be simply impossible because of the processor. I think You should return it and get a International model. SD835 is slower than Exynos 8895 so You won't lose anything and You will get ability to flash custom roms and have TWRP, xposed etc.

No it's not possible. But I don't have any update problem
if your goal is to utilize some CSC feature from XEF, then I would like to suggest you to download firmware and extract cache.img to get csc folder then flash it or copy it using root explorer with supersu or magisk supersu permission. But your phone will trip knox and you will not be able to use samsung pay or some bank app.
Thanks, but I don't want to root. I would prefer to flash it via Odin but I don't want to brick my phone ...

Will you Root?

Hi All,
Just wondering whos going to root their N9 and also what are your reasons for doing it?
I use my phone as main device without a laptop so will root so I don't need to keep doing ADB commands. I want to remove the Nav bar and also better adblock via adaway without using VPN.
No idea. Not sure to root or not. I've been trying to work out the pros and the cons.
My Samsung s7 was rooted
No. What is this 2010?
By rooting it, secret folder will be gone forever. Right? ?

Yes, everything Knox related will be disabled: Samsung Health, Secret Folder, Samsung Pay...
I rooted in the end as I cant keep using ADB.
Health works fine with a modified build prop. Pay and secure folder are gone for good but I've installed island, gallery vault and fingersecurity. They replace the features I used from the Samsung alternative.
Obviously not as secure as knox but I'm not too fussed
not planning to root this device
for adblock i use Adhell3 or disconnect pro
for ad-free youtube i use youtube vanced
and the samsung software has enough options & customizations built in...
also with rooting i ruin my warranty and knox (which i need for samsung pay, if that ever becomes available in belgium lol)
so i dont see why i need to root this device

In Europe, we conserve our waranty if our smartphone is rooted,
I've rooted all my device since my Nexus One,
I don't like to use Samsung Pay or other type of payment with a smartphone, so i decided to rooted this one too !
I like to use Xposed and Gravity box let me do what I want in my Note 9,
For AdBlock I prefer to use Adaway !

rooting trips knox and a tripped knox means no warranty. so not taking such warranty risks with this 1000 usd device

as long as there is no root for the exynos I will wait. A 1 TB device without backup is without any value
Reasons:
Remove Bloat
Backup and restore all data
No ads
Some tuning

Is charging not affected after rooting? Custom ROMs on the s8+ meant you couldn't fully charge to 100%
Is it the same with the note 9?

Sorry, what kind of application is this "island"? what's it do? I'm well aware and use extensively the other two.
I'm on the fence re whether I should root my new N9.... I can see the benefits (Titanium Backup), but then the prospect of losing all that functionality (presumably forever, even unrooting won't help according to Dr.Ketan)... man it's a hard choice..

Check the description of the app on the Playstore, it's pretty well described there.
No reason to, I rooted my Tab S3 but regret it, it's actually made worse instead of better.
I won't.
I need Knox for disabling app and AdHell's firewall too.

Question Note 10 pro New version 11/2022

Hi
Ive seen many deceives (note 10 pro) in the market today
This version made in 11/2022 comes with a new storage option 256GB and new colors as purple
My question is this a refurbished or just a new rebirth of a good device
It is a new model. I was shocked too because in August last year, around the time when I bought this phone, the highest model was still 8/128 and only available in three colors (blue, bronze, and black). Now it has an 8/256 model.
I regret buying this version since it is not compatible with modified recovery ....

This device supports custom recovery btw, such as TWRP, OrangeFox, and some aosp/lineage recovery based. Also, it might be a good idea to use English to avoid incurring the wrath of the mods lmao. Just a reminder.
No. No recovery works in this version, I already tried installing all the existing ones, in different versions of miui, and using various installation methods. conclusion: when installing modified recovery the device is left without touch. I read in several articles that it is the fault of some drivers that are not compatible with this new version of the device.
Would be sad if it doesn't work properly with custom recovery, I ordered a 256GB variant last week to replace my current dying RN10P aha

So has that 8/256gb a Stealth launch. Also with different Camera Sensors.
