LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10 (Q), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

Instructions:
Always have a backup of the EFS partition made with TWRP stored somewhere, as you may lose IMEI. Restore it if you get 0 as IMEI when booted into the ROM
You will need Pie Firmware to use this ROM, here's an automated script to install it: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=17248734326145714283
Download Official TWRP from twrp.me
Flash the TWRP via fastboot
Enter TWRP, go to wipe menu and Wipe Dalvik, Cache, Data, System and Internal Storage.
In TWRP Wipe Menu, do Format Data, then reboot into recovery
Flash the latest build
Flash eventual GApps and Magisk
Reboot

Notes
TWRP
If the touchscreen doesn't work when rebooting into recovery, press the power button twice to turn off and on the screen. The touchscreen will now work just fine.
GSIs
This LineageOS build ships with Project Treble compatibility, meaning you can flash a GSI as System Image from TWRP. Please don't report GSI bugs here, report them instead to the GSI's maker. A Format Data from TWRP is required after flashing a GSI in order to avoid problems.
Use Arm64 AB GSIs.

I have been running on LOS 15.1 earlier, which has been working fine. I decided to try to update my Z2 play to this rom.
It installs fine, but when booting the first time it boots forever. I have been waiting 30 min but without success. I restarted, and waited 15 min again, but still without success.
I decided to give lineage-18.1-20210110-UNOFFICIAL-albus a shot, and it also installed fine. It also booted fine and setup ran without errors. However, on that ROM the sim-card is not detected.
So I guess I am heading back to 15.1 which is the only one that has been working, although a bit old..

Did you flashed stock Pie before install? All these android 10 roms are not compatible with Oreo firmware.

I thought I did it, using the script (autoinstall) in the post. However I got some errors, and then I did it manually. Somehow it started to work then. I will write a longer post later on and tell more about my experience.
So far working very well! How nice to be on Android 10 instead of 8... Thanks!

Hello. I tried out your ROM. Since the script only works on Windows, I manually flashed fsg.mbn NON-HLOS.bin adspso.bin and logo.bin prior to trying to boot it. And my WiFi is broken. I did not install a SIM-Card yet.
Here is a log excerpt from when trying to connect to public WiFi:

Try flashing complete rom, not just modem. You'll find link in Resurrection Remix thread.
Boot into stock once to ensure all works.

Thank you. Tried that but nope, no luck.

Oh and btw, the settings app closes itself whenever I try to access the system section in settings. Info shows that I have two IMEIs, a WiFi MAC, but no Bluetooth MAC. And turning on bluetooth crashes settings.
Update: I reflashed back to Stock 8 and then to Stock 9 again. Now I finally got somewhere and WiFi works again. I will test mobile once I got my new SIM

Here is my story:
I have previously successfully installed
lineage-15.1-20200211-UNOFFICIAL-albus.zip
MindTheGapps-8.1.0-arm64-20180808_153856.zip
Magisk-v20.4.zip
using TWRP 3.2.2-r23. On that version, but middle (gesture/fingerprint) button on the phone didn't work, also there were no virtual "on screen" buttons. However, this was solved using buildprop and adding a line of code there. Thus this setup has been working very very fine, no problems at all (except the navigation/fingerprint button then).
However, with Android 8 (LOS 15.1) being quite old, I thought that at least from a security point of view it might be a good idea to not stay with Android 8 (maybe someone with knowledge of the security can comment on this?). There are of course other reasons as well.
I have been waiting for a new version to work. So when I saw this post I thought I'd give it a shot.
I installed the lineage-17.1-20210224-UNOFFICIAL-albus.zip using the same TWRP 3.2.2-r23 version without success. The installation went fine, but the first boot kept on forever (> 30 min). Using the script to flash the firmware in fastboot, I thought it was OK, but what I did later on was to manually take the commands from the script and just run the commands manually. I have no idea why the automated script didn't work, but when I did enter the commands manually (I just copy pasted them, Ubuntu 20.04) it worked.
So currently I have installed
lineage-17.1-20210224-UNOFFICIAL-albus.zip
open_gapps-arm64-10.0-stock-20210304.zip
Magisk-v20.4.zip
using the same old version of TWRP 3.2.2-r23. This has worked flawless on my phone. And to my big surprise, even the gesture/fingerprint button is working, which I really do like since I save some space on the screen when I don't need to have the virtual navigation buttons.
I use the powerpack (the part why I like the phone is the long battery time). And the Moto powerpack seems to be working very well as well.
Furthermore, I am located in Europe and thus run a Europe-compatible phone.
Edit: I have one question. I see that now when I use the fingerprint sensor for unlocking, it seems that the phone is reacting on the fingerprint sensor while I have the phone in my pocket? There is a feature "Prevent accidental wake-up", that I have activated, but I still have a sense of the phone being woken up. I don't have any good information here, but maybe someone have an answer if there is a possibility for me to deactivate the fingerprint sensor in a way that I need to press the power button first to activate the phone, and then having the fingerprint sensor active?
I would like to thank EmaMaker and all contributors for this.

Gonna try it out now, seems promising. Curious though, what's the reason this isn't official? Everything works right?
Update: I've tried it, it's awsome. I only noticed 2 minor things that could be polished: the charging led thing (z2 doesn't have one) and the Moto TV seems to do nothing.
Otherwise flawless, just what this phone needed.
Update 2: I found an issue, after encrypting storage the phone bootloops. Reflashed the stock rom to use the stock encryption too, then flashed Los, but it didn't solve the problem. Also, didn't install magisk and the issue still occured.

Hi, thank you for sharing your experience! I myself live in europe so yes, this is a europe friendly rom and phone. The update I published today allows the mod battery level to be viewed as a notification, just like in other arrow and aicp roms. The rom also includes overlay to turn the on-screen navbar on and off from Settings>System>Buttons, so no need to modify build.prop. If you want another approach, on the Custom ROMS telegram group there's a twrp script to do the same thing, but I recommend using android settings

Hi! It looks strange, last time I tried encryption it worked fine, maybe try with the just published update? The rom isn't official for quite a simple reason, and it is that I unfortunately lack time to follow all the things an official dev needs to do for los, maybe I will try official for other minor roms in the future, just for the sake of publishing an official rom. But I do not think an official los for albus will come from myself in the near future

Stupid question maybe, but how do I update to this? Do I need to make a clean install (like when I installed the previous build with twrp) or is it possible to "just update" like in the official releases?

Just install through TWRP on top of old one. No clean install required when updating the same ROM. Just wipe cache and dalvik before.

Thank you for the answer. So I just wipe cache and dalvik. Then I install the rom, without anything more. What about MindTheGapps and Magisk etc? No need to reinstall them?
1) Wipe cache and Dalvik in TWRP
2) Install the new build in TWRP
3) Reboot
4) The phone will be like "before", but with the updated build of the ROM? Thus no need to (re)-install MindTheGapps, Magisk etc?

Magisk have script that should automatically rebuild it after flashing ROM. If it won't work you'd need install it manually.
Reinstalling gapps is not needed, all applications and user data is intact.

I see, I'll try it out now and will let you know if it works. I got a small request if I may, since this is gonna stay unofficial, could you add signature spoofing for Micro G?

.

hi, I managed to install this rom and works perfectly except for the mobile data.
Looks like the phone reads the SIM card and I can unlock it and everything but it doesn't seem to get any signal. I get a "No service" text after unlocking the SIM and I have no idea how to make it work. Also made sure to flash the Android Pie modem.
does anyone here have any idea of what could it be? sorry if I'm missing any detail, I'm pretty much lost.
I'll try to attach some clean logs later if that gives any help.
edit: ok after some more investigation i've realised that i have the chinese model (XT1710-08) and i'm not supposed to flash the modem, since i'm coming from the nougat ZUI rom, nor erase the modemst parts, so my fault on that. In any case now i'm concerned about "android 10 not being compatible with oreo firmware", which someone above pointed out. Is there any way to get around this other than maybe sticking with LineageOS 16 or am I out of luck?

Suddenly fails to find any network operators

My son's Moto X with unofficial Lineage OS 13 has been working just fine until today, when it suddenly stopped finding any network operators. The SIM card is still recognized, I may enter the pin, but then it says "No service", and when I go to network operators choice, I find that not a single operator is displayed.
I tested the SIM in another phone, it seems to be fine. I also inserted different sim, which I know to work into this phone, but that did not help.
This is what I get from adb logcat, but I can't make sense of it:

Could it be that suddenly the hardware has become faulty? Does anybody have suggestions how to test for the cause?
Thanks very much in advance!!!
Did a factory reset, which did not solve it. Still no network operators found.
Trying to understand the problem. logcat reveals that when it scans for networks, something goes wrong:

Have you tried restoring to the stock firmware? If not, try the following commands in fastboot mode first:
Code:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
Additionally, in the Phone app, you may dial *#*#INFO#*#* (*#*#4636#*#*) to obtain more information about the device's network.

I am not clear what that does. Seemingly, it erases two partitions. Is their content rebuilt after? Are those two partitions shipped with the custom rom? I did several google searches and each time I found it accompanied by the instruction to flash something else in the next step. So before nuking a partition I certainly would want to know., but so far I have not found an explanation of the partition layout.

I know. There it says it has no cellular network. As the logs I posted indicate, something goes badly wrong while searching for cells.
Tried it now, after a backup, but it did not change the situation. The sim card is recognized, but "no service" remains.

The fastboot commands clear the modem cache, and the cache regenerates on boot up.
Unfortunately, it looks like your issue is hardware-related. Which method did you use to restore to the stock firmware?

Which really would be a first time for me. I never saw the GSM module of a phone suddenly fail. My son insists that nothing had happened..
Yesterday, after reflashing the stock firmware yet again, I shortly got a very weak signal, and then, after I went to manual operator selection, it immediately went away again and stubbornly remained absent since.

TWRP (adb sideload). I am not sure whether the image is flashable via fastboot.

As a last resort, I would suggest locating the full stock firmware for your device and follow the included instructions (if any) to flash it via fastboot, or at the very least, flash the fsg.mbn and NON-HLOS.bin for your device as listed under Modem Firmware in this thread. Instructions for flashing are included in the downloaded archive.

I reflashed them but as a result, the sim card is no longer recognized, rebooted several times.
Update: Reflashed lineageOS and now I got my sim card back, although still not connecting to the network. Reflashed the stock firmware with twrp (not sure how this would be done via fastboot), I got my phone to re-connect to the network for a few seconds, which made me jump up and down in excitement, but then the connection dropped again, before I could even make a phonecall
Update 2 Tried a different sim card, but again, when I try to register automatically, this is what I see:

Thanks a lot for the module. It worked for me.
Works for me too! Great work!

This issue of detecting sub-processes has been patched as of beta 16.4
I'm not sure where you were getting the other processes you were blocking (e.g com.microsoft.omadm), my guess is skaforey's post. These should all be run within the parent process and blocked, but it will be interesting to see if they are required on some phones.
Either way, this is awesome for versions prior to 16.4. Thanks again for writing this.

I suddenly started receiving "Custom OS" error while setting up the Work Profile. I am pretty sure its not related to Magisk or the module but just wanted to check on any ideas.
I have a Galaxy S9+ running a stripped (but mostly stock) ROM with Magisk hide enabled and this module.
Screenshot attached.
Please publish it to magisk repo.
It's a very simple process

Updated IntuneHider4Magisk To v0.1.3!
Changelog: Minimizing The Time.
Thanks for the module and it is working. Unfortunately I have a wierd issue, the intune portal requires encryption and when the encryption is enabled, Volte is not enabling. I am not sure if this a common issue or not, but is there a way to bypass the device encryption step? Or is there any method to enabled Volte after encryption ? I am using Pixel experience ROM. Please suggest and thanks in advance

What's the easiest method to install an updated version of the module when you already have a previous version in use?
To prevent that during the upgrade Intune may discover that my device is rooted, I now use following steps:
1. Freeze Intune and Outlook
2. Disable IntuneHider4Magik (asks for reboot)
3. Delete IntuneHider4Magik (asks for reboot)
4. Install the new IntuneHider4Magik version
5. Defrost Intune and Outlook
I guess that could be implemented in an easier way (even with preventing that Intune may find that the device is rooted as a prerequisite)?
Thanks Man..
working good..

ADB default allowed (without checking /data/misc/adb/adb_keys) in stock 47.2.A.11.228-R3C

Hi guys
Using 47.1.A.2.324 / 47.1.A.16.20 (stock oreo) android works correct -> after enabled "developer -> usb-debugging" the device asks me to allow the remote-computer...
But, if i flash 47.2.A.11.228 i get adb access DIRECT at the first boot (usb-debugging is on without enabling developer-settings).
Flushing the "stored keys" dont help...this is a major security-problem and of course.. TWRP isnt working because it cant find the keys.
JFI: i dont see the "Debugging-Notification"-Switch to enable the verification-dialog in the settings
Flashing it back to oreo and it works again (just for oreo).
A "adb logcat |grep adb" gets:

So i ask myself "where is the key stored, or if he isnt stored, why the devices dont ask my to allow/store the new remote-computer".
And it doesnt matter which stock-rom i flash... i used "emma" and "newflasher" with different pie-roms.
Strange...

Does unrooting erase your data in the phone?

Hello,
Quick context : I need to use an app (itsME belgian app) to get my vaccine certificate on my phone but unfortunately the app doesn't work on rooted phone.
So if I unroot my phone will I be able to keep all my messenger app conversations and pictures for example?
Thank you
I tested the app and with the Magisk app repackaged with a random name and the app on the Deny list (I'm using Canary Magisk build 23014) it started without complaining about a rooted device. That means it's at least possible to hide Magisk from it, but it might depend on your particular device/setup.
Tested on a OnePlus 5T with a custom Android 11 ROM, Magisk build 23014.
Hey @vifzor, thanks for bringing up the itsme issue. Got the same problem on my end (OnePlus 6T here)! Something must have changed recently as I've been successfully hiding root from this app for years.
@Didgeridoohan
I don't get it...
Certified OP6T FP: freshly applied via Props Config
Play Protect certification: Device is certified
SafetyNet: pass
MagiskHide: enabled
Magisk app: hidden
Hidden Magisk app "superhidden" via SudoHide (LSPosed)
TWRP folder: removed
Yet the app is still saying "Rooted device detected" on startup, despite having cleaned its data several times. All while my banking app and other root sensitive apps are working fine.
Using stable 23000 though, should I try Canary?
@Timmmmaaahh! I'm not using any Riru or Xposed style modules at all. I only have Magisk Canary (23014) with the Deny list set up and the Magisk app repackaged with a random name.
I'm seeing two discrepancies between our setups that stand out at a first glance:
LSposed
Stable vs Canary Magisk releases
Either LSposed is being detected (which you could test by disabling it), or the Canary Deny list is better at hiding Magisk. If you're going to try Canary keep in mind that you'll need an LSPosed version that is compatible with Zygisk rather than Riru.

No go for disabling Riru/LSposed, still detecting. What do you mean by Deny list? Magisk Hide?
@vifzor Can you check with Magisk Canary?

The Deny list is the new iteration of MagiskHide that is currently being tested on the Canary branch and will be in the next stable release of Magisk.
I'm sure you've heard talks of @topjohnwu working for Google now and as such the nature of Magisk's hiding capabilities have changed a little, although not quite as much as you'd think. Magisk can still completely get out of the way of any app that's added to the Deny list.
Hiding from SafetyNet is still perfectly possible, but takes a couple of manual tweaks (although those using the Universal SafetyNet Fix module won't notice anything since it does everything for them).
@Didgeridoohan Just something I was wondering: does a logcat hint to what potentially is causing detection? This is the moment itsme is started:

It's also showing "E be.bmid.itsme: Invalid ID 0x00000000."
Wild guess really
@Timmmmaaahh! I'm not seeing anything obvious. But then again, that behind-the-scenes stuff isn't my forté.
Hey again @Didgeridoohan!
I finally got to upgrading to Magisk Canary (23015), yay.
Funny thing happend: now itsme starts but my banking app (Keytrade, discussed in your thread here) picked up detection again! Not a major surprise as you've already hinted this would happen because LSPosed is broken by Zygisk. I'm not entirely sure how to proceed though. I've looked into AirFrozen but might not be ideal as it's never been updated after its release in 2016. As far as I can see a fix for Riru is in the works but not just there yet. Fixed Universal SafetyNet Fix works so that's great! I guess I need something that freezes Magisk whenever I start my banking app (and unfreezes when I close it) but can't seem to find anything that does that. Maybe with Tasker and SecureTask, I'll do more digging.
@vifzor This'll be good news for you if your only issue was with itsme, of course. Just fetch latest canary manager here, make sure canary update channel is selected in settings and update Magisk, then enable Zygisk and Enforce DenyList in settings after reboot and enable itsme in the DenyList. One more reboot and you'll be fooling our government again in no time ^_^
@Timmmmaaahh! Try the LSPosed release that's compatible with Zygisk. There's one around I believe, but you'll have to practice your Google-Fu with that one...
What is Google? I'd have to Duck that. Anyway, performed some Telegram magic (remember kids, TG is bad for your teeth!) and found it: LSPosed-v1.6.3-62**-zygisk-release.zip
So LSPosed works again, which generates a pretty big question: why did I need Riru in the first place if LSPosed works standalone? Oh right, it's riding Zygisk now instead – nevermind. So I guess Zygisk is some sort of Riru? These are frameworks? This totally exceeds my intelligence. For now! *evil laughter*
It took me ridiculously long to figure this out but it was eventually Hide My Applist that did the trick. Probably combined with SudoHide or whatever but I don't want to do any more testing. Basically: create a template in HMA containing anything related to root and apply this to the 'effective app' one wants to open.
[rant] I'm a bit surprised my bank is going through all this trouble for root detection, especially with Magisk's new DenyList. The way I understand the new method works, is that selected apps are completely excluded from root abilities so it's not just hiding that root is there, it actually makes it virtually impossible to apply any manipulations to the applications in that list.
Though I enjoy some cat and mouse play from time to time, if my bank keeps this up I will switch to another bank. I'm no fan of overzealous safety measures. Takes me back to a whole bunch of DRM fails back in the 90's. Besides, apps that are so important should not rely on local safety anyway. If I log into my bank account via Windows XP I expect my bank to create a nicely secured connection using that nifty little calculator they provide us with. [/rant]
Sorry to hijack this @vifzor but as you haven't been online in the past 10 days I'm sure you don't mind. And we found a solution for you
Thanks once again for your assistance @Didgeridoohan

I've already tried the following:
Hiding the Magisk app (changing its name)
Turning on Zygisk
Enforcing app Deny List
Adding the app to the Deny List
Using the MagiskHide Props Config module
Using Shamiko and turning off the option to enforce the deny list
Anything else I could try?
Thanks a lot
try this one and see if it work
Just to test, I decided to unroot my phone, use the official Google Android Flash Tool and relock the bootloader. The bank app worked fine this way.
For comparison, adb logcat now shows the following information during the app launch:

@yassine2217, thanks a lot. I'll now re-root the phone and test the module you sent.
@yassine2217, unfortunately, that didn't work. I re-rooted the phone and installed the SafetyNet module you provided. But the bank app still crashes during startup.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!
The crash log is a little different now:

I tried to flash the original init_boot.img file (which removes root access) and to uninstall Magisk. But the banking app still crashes.
Could it be that the problem is the unlocked bootloader? I could only get the app running when I had a locked bootloader.
I don't really know what else to try...
I tested several combinations of configuration and got the following results:
Stock image, unrooted, locked bootloader - App works fine
Stock image, unrooted, unlocked bootloader - App crashes
Patched image, rooted, Magisk - App crashes
Patched image, rooted, Magisk, Safety Net fix module, hidden Magisk app, systemless hosts, Zygisk, app in forced deny list - App crashes
In the first configuration, I get the following Safety Net result:
In the last configuration, I get the following Safety Net result:
It's a little different, but I don't thick it's possible to get "hardware backed" with an unlocked bootloader.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
did you solve this problem? I think .. having the same issue, I know the root problem (see that your app is not loading native Dalvik but it's wrapped into a native code lib (JNI native call)

Click to collapse
until you don't use safety net fix, and apply patches, you'll get fail, fail and HARDWARE BACKED
