LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Nice Rom Based On Android 10 Everything Is Working Fine.

Everything works so far, but, I can't get audio in calls, I fixed this in the pie ROM by editing the build.prop file, but this method isn't working in this ROM for some reason...

Cool
I think you forgot to change "Android 9 (pie)" to "Android 10 (Q)" in the LineageOS description.

I can't get audio in calls,SMS and data work, is there a workaround for this?

I took a logcat when trying to call, I will attatch it below, hope it helps...
Edit: Incoming calls do work flawlessly, only the outgoing calls aren't working...
Edit2: @adazem009 reckons that is an issue with acdb after looking at the logs posted by me...

Can confirm that outgoing calls are consistently broken, I even restored my tab to the latest firmware using qfil, so, corrupted firmware isn't the reason, also, the stock Android 8 ROM is the one I rolled back to, just to start from scratch so that there are no corrupted firmware files, also, just curious, initially I updated from lineage os 16 to 17.1 by erasing data and system partition and then flashing the los package, is this method correct too?

Another thread correction: Linux kernel version of this ROM is 3.18, not 3.10

I too did the same, my Bluetooth is fine, also, did you flash the arm64 Android 10 gapps?
Edit: What is the problem with Bluetooth, for example is it losing connection all the time, not turning on at all or...? Also, just curious, are outgoing calls working for you, I can only get incoming calls for some reason...

Check if you disabled com. android.providers.contacts(contacts providers), this most commonly happens due to this app being disabled, also, are outgoing calls working for you?
Edit: Also, try clearing the Bluetooth app data and cache...

Another bug found:-
The ims implementation on this rom seems to be broken since, VoLTE and VoWiFI aren't available, and even after installing the Voenabler magisk module, it remains the same, VoLTE and VoWiFi were working in the lineage os 16 build...(they still work upon installing the Los 16 build...)

I am receiving both SMS and Call.

Did you erase system partition, or, did you install directly?

I will try to go back to 16 and then update without changing anything...
I will report back with the results... (In an hour)

Nope, the calls still don't work...(outgoing to be exact)

Everything is fine including gaming experience, it is a lot better than any buggy 8.1 Oreo rom, but there is an annoying issue that I want to fix:
The Low Memory Killer is too aggressive that I can't use it to be multitasking, I just could keep it opened about 2 apps in the background, any solution?

This is technical build, just to test all of hardware works fine with open source kernel. Lenovo shared kernel source was incomplete and I had to make dts code from scratch. Please report if anything hardware related broken. Also I have on TB-8704X to test, reports about how it works on TB-8704F and TB-8704V are welcome.
This is great - thank you @highwaystar_ru for your work. I'll test it on my TB-8704X today. Are there plans on upgrading to LineageOS 15.1 or even 16?

Yes, I'm planning to integrate it with https://github.com/lenovo-devs and build Lineage 16.0 soon. There will be not many updates on 14.1, I will upload one updated build today, found that current is incompatible with linked twrp (I tested it only with my own twrp build).

Awesome - Thanks. I was stuck on 7.1 anyway as the lenovo Oreo was really bad, I went back to 7.1. Now I'm in a better place, routed and no bloat. Thanks, looking forward to 16!

This TWRP build has special function Sign boot which you have to click after install new version of ROM or mod like Magisk. It will append stock boot signature to your boot partition. This allows to boot with locked bootloader.
TWRP with Boot Sign function screenshots:
Fortunately you dont need to unlock bootloader, because not every Lenovo tab can be unlocked. Custom kernel and ROM can be runned by appending boot.sig signature extracted from stock rom to boot.img like
Code:
cat boot.img boot.sig > boot-signed.img
It still cant be loaded by fastboot, but you always can flash it from TWRP. You can get boot.sig in my repo https://github.com/HighwayStar/android_device_lenovo_TB8703/blob/cm-14.1/twrp/recovery/root/boot.sig

Just installed it. Upon boot, a message poped up saying there's an internal error in the device, and that I should contact the maker (Lenovo). The message appeared once more before setup. Let's see how it goes now. Has someone else experienced this?
Installed over LOS16, I added GApps and Magisk. Everything is working fine, so far.

Same error message for me. Upgraded from 16.
Installed Rom, gapps, magisk.
But then it's working. But performance seems worse compared to 16. I will give the system a little bit to settle down and check performance again.
Thanks for bringing Android Q to the Tab 3 8 Plus! Going to try it out later today

Just installed it. Upon boot, a message poped up saying there's an internal error in the device, and that I should contact the maker (Lenovo). The message appeared once more before setup. Let's see how it goes now. Has someone else experienced this?

I had the same, but the tablet seems to work great.
BTW. The error message appears on every boot for me. I also did a clean flash with factory reset.
Otherwise I can tell that a clean flash helped for most of the problems. When I upgraded from 16 I had visual glitches and system ui freezing sometimes. These problems are completely gone after doing the clean flash. Only thing that remains is the error message. But this message does not seem to effect the daily work.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

How to install
You have to had TWRP installed from this thread TWRP and ROOT for Tab 4 8/10 (Plus) (TB-8704X/F/V,TB-X704L/F, TB-8504X/F, TB-X304L/F)
In TWRP clean Data if you coming from stock ROM and do Install of this ROM. If you have android 8 stock rom installed you have to format Data with data loss, because used encryption is incompatible with android 7.1
TB-8704V (Verizon)
If you have TB-8704V tablet, you have to additionaly flash boot.img from link above after rom intsallation. This tablet has some hardware differences from x and f and requires custom kernel to work,

There is no gapps in the rom, you have to download it from opengapps.org if needed.
There are reports about bootloop on wifi version of tablet (LTE version works fine), I will upload fixed version tomorrow.
I'm syncing up the sources on my ROM Kitchen now
What are the install steps if I have lineage 16 already installed. i.e. sufficient to use the existing TWRP. Can I have Dirty flash? etc

Full wipe and reinstall for a major version number release like this, I believe. Dirty flash will almost certainly fail. Your existing TWRP should suffice, but you'll need to reflash gapps when you install los17.1
I've uploaded new version, this should resolve issue with 8704f, please try and report if it works or not. Full adb logcat output on boot are welcome too.

I has no removing telephony apps after installation on WiFi only tablet.
Branch: lineage-17.1
Hi @highwaystar_ru - if I want to run some tests using your sources which branch should I be syncing to? lineage-17.1 for all of them right?
So far, working very well. No crashes or hangs, everything fast and smooth. Two things that don't work are DT2W but this was already known. The other is USB hubs do not work at all. They do not work on LOS 16 either but they do work on LOS14. A fix for this would be greatly appreciated.
Great work other than that as usual highwaystar.

Yes all lineage-17.1 branches. In latest built these lines are removed to make it bootable on wifi version https://github.com/lenovo-devs/andr.../lineage-17.0/prebuilt/bin/deunify.sh#L16-L30

I just did a clean install of the latest version (lineage-17.1-20200601-UNOFFICIAL-TB8704.zip) and noted that, although I'm on tb8704f, I can still see the "Messaging" app, which wasn't there when I wasn on 16. Looking at the code highlighted in the github link above I wouldn't expect to see Messaging on my device. I was also asked if I wanted to configure a SIM during the first boot and setup.
I rebooted to TWRP, wiped Dalvik, system, data and cache, pushed lineageos and opengapp (full) zips, then installed and rebooted.

When coming from stock to this ROM or one of the other Lineage-based ROMs, yours prompts for a pre-boot decryption password and crashes on attempts to encrypt, while the other doesn't, using the apparently included default. That includes upstream TWRP releases.
Any data I could supply to help get FDE working on this? Might be useful for your other 11/R-based ROMs, if this occurs on them, as I haven't checked.

I know, however I actually find forceencryption valuable, in spite of it's shortcomings, and the linked Lineage 17.1 ROM makes it work (and makes TWRP work with it, too). The solution I would be looking for is not to disable, but rather support it.

Disk encryption is not stable yet on android 11 you should wait untill it get stable or better go with android 10 ROMs
Seems to be squared off in upstream. Since there's no official support for MSM8917, if you're tracking changes from a different device's tree, which device is it?

hi, i've been testing this rom, and i haven't been able to make it work with my sim card. The official rom works fine, and other sim cards from other vendors work fine on this rom.
I tried flashing the official firmware fw_rolex_miui_HM4AGlobal_V10.2.3.0.NCCMIXM_69d07208fd_7.1.zip, but I couldn't get it to work either.
Lineageos 17.1 doesn't work either.

Update your recovery to the latest orangefox recovery which has 4.9 kernel
Wipe data vendor system cache and dalvik cache before flashing the rom
Restore perisist backup (look for redmi 4a persist backup if you don't have)
Hi. I've been having a problem with this new build. After a while, after waking up the phone from deep sleep, I can't open any app or phone setting. The apps just stay loading. Programmed tasks like alarms don't work, either. I have to reboot the phone every once a while as a workaround. This problem was also present in Lineage OS 17, but it didn't happen with Thagoo's older LOS 18.1 build on Telegram. Maybe it's due to the new blocked wakelocks?
