That's not OTA, that's full flash...
And everyone, please, while using anything that's not rom that came with your device, DON'T lock bootloader, there is a fair chance you'll end up with bricked phone.
Refer to this thread: https://c.mi.com/thread-2584760-1-1.html
If you flash china rom on global device, it says DON'T lock bootloader...

I didn't face any problem after locking bootloader. Just download 12.1.2V fastboot rom and flash using MIflash tool. You can lock bootloader that time or not. It's your own choice. if you retain unlocked, playstore would be uncertified. after you flash 12.1.2, you will get OTA update of 12.5.1 wit a size 700mb~. it will update and you will have 12.5 on the way

Buddy screenshots are of older version
I'll post the newer screenshots soon..
Hopefully we will now get Cyanogen 13? Anyone know if Cyanogen / Zuk are even working on it? Not even a single word from them.
For those who have problems installing the rom with TWRP: unzip rom, go to .\Meta-Inf\Com\Google\Android\, open updater-script using Notepad++
and replace k9 with Z1. There are two places where "k9" must be replaced by "Z1" in order for the rom to be recognized. Wait until it s done installing. Then you will have to wait 5-10 minutes to boot for the first time.
Now, some words about rom. It's ZUI rom, comes with chinese bloatware and the soft isn t properly translated to english. left and right capacitive buttons are not working- they need to be activated in the settings menu. Installing this rom YOU LOSE ROOT ACCES AND CUSTOM RECOVERY AND BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED.
The awesome thing for me, is the smart clock/answer option for windowed cases. If someone could port that to COS, that would be awesome.
I tried to unlock the bootloader but the fastboot command fastboot -i 0x2b4c oem unlock simply doesnt work. The phone is recognized in adb and fastboot mode.
Managed to root the rom with King Root Apk.
Managed to boot in a temporary TWRP recovery with the help of ZUK z1 toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/development/win-zuk-z1-toolkit-0-1-alpha-t3235964 and from there i just restored my backup made with twrp. Never coming back to ZUI.
Same here!
Dude, Same problem faced like you without root and after hours of panic no wifi bluetooth working, I have finally recovered TWRP with QPST. Will never even try ZUI forever.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY TO AVOID PROBLEMS
First of all u need an unlocked bootloader guide
Second of all u need adb fastboot
third of all u need is TWRP (works same with unofficial redwolf recovery)
here is a list of all gsi (for redmi 6 pro we need arm64 Aonly) all android 9 gsi support the notch
1. im on stock 8.9.20 !!! BUT ALWAYS USE LATEST FASTBOOT ROM BECOUSE OF ANTIROLLBACK!!! miflash link
2. then i reboot the device into fastboot mode (volume down + power, or adb command: adb reboot bootloader), and boot into twrp dont install it , with the command
Code:
fastboot boot twrpname.img
3. next step is to wipe data , write yes and format it.
4. then install globerom from here with magisk with expert settings https://mi-globe.com/rom-builder-features/?codename=sakura&img=redmi6pro.png&realname=RedMi+6+Pro with the LOADED TWRP (expert settings howto)
5. Then the device will boot into miui mi_globerom (can take alsmost 15-20mins, no joke) just wait until it hast booted.
6. then reboot into fastboot mode and again BOOT TWRP with
Code:
fastboot boot twrpname.img
7. wipe data again (write yes in twrp) like in step 3
8. then install the gsi image to system partition
9. reboot into system swipe yes if twrp says no system installed , and u will boot into the gsi of your choice,
10. then reboot into fastboot mode , boot twrp again with command:
Code:
fastboot boot twrpname.img
11. then finally install twrp image from your phone with the booted twrp . (dont forget to install img. not zip)
12. boot into installed twrp, install gapps, make a factory reset swipe, and boot into rom and make initial rom setup.
13. for magisk, again boot into twrp and flash, magisk , then reboot
for testing other gsi, 1. goto twrp, 2. wipe, 3. advanced wipe, and just wipe: system , chache, dalivik chache, and data , and install the next gsi to system partition
to revert back to stock flash fastboot rom (like this so u dont relock the bootloader) with miflash DONT RELOCK BOOTLOADER http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.9.20/sakura_images_8.9.20_20180920.0000.00_8.1_cn_840c43e70e.tgz !!!!BUT ALWAYS USE LATEST FASTBOOT ROM BECOUSE OF ANTIROLLBACK!!!!!

Looks like i got some questions for ya...
first, cant we use a normal developer rom issued by xiaomi and then flash magisk?
second, in 'fastboot boot twrpname.img' the "twrpname" is a variable right?
third, you did all the starting steps(untill loading the gsi) using remote twrp boot( just made the phrase myself), why not flash the image from the start? will something be different?(like system crash or phone bricking)
fourth, In the start you told "then i reboot the device into fastboot mode (volume down + power, or adb command: adb reboot bootloader), and boot into twrp dont install it , with the command" from where exactly did you boot the TWRP of? from the phone or your PC? (srry, am not well educated in this method)
fifth, it is irrelevant(not completely) but, will using the recovery rom instead of fastboot brick the user's phone?
sixth, about the gsi roms, you said arm64 A only, will there be a problem with flashing the roms with that A-A/B (partition style{ e.g. Pixel Experience}) and arm-arm64 (architecture{e.g. Pixel Experience})

1. i didnt try that to be honest thats the way after so many tries to get it working,.. lost a day of my life and dont wanna do that again to test but its a valid point , will try later and if so edit the guide
2.yes easiest way is to write the command: fastboot boot and then drag and drrop the twrp image in the powershell window so u have the correct filepath
3.yes its like a remote twrp (in fact it doesnt get installed into recovery partition, it runs in your phone memory in backgrround ) becouse it doesnt work to install the twrp since miui doesnt "allow" that and android cant start ..so no u cant install twrp only install like mentioned
4.see above ..the phone boots the twrp
5.i was scared too to hell about bricking: so in short DO NOT INSTALL ANY MIUI VERSION ABOVE THE VERSION U ARE CURRENTLY USING latest now is 8.9.20 ... and 8.9.20 means 20.9.2018 all miui versions are like that so dont downgrade thats all
6.it will not boot thats all , but i would not try it ... its easy, all gsi roms have a Aonly arm64 build so just download that and there are no A-A/B its either A or A/B some times A is called Aonly , and there is arm and arm64 . we need arm64 A
its no problem to ask questions we all where new to this at some point just ask here or with a more quicker respond on the telegram group https://t.me/redmi6proofficial and ask for nofx161
thnx for the help... will root my phone once the MI countdown stops... once again thnx a lot and pls do keep up the good work.. really appreciate it!

Thanks for the guide.
I wanted to ask if you installed any P roms as daily drivers and which of them were the most stable and bug free for day to day use.
TIA

And in the guide you said "ALWAYS USE LASTEST FASTBOOT ROM BECAUSE OF ANTIROLLBACK".
What does "fastboot rom" mean?
Is my stable 10.0.5.0(Latest Stable Version ) up to standard?

Hi, will Google Pay work on this ROM with unlocked bootloader?
I have a Mi11 with a preliminary Global ROM but it's rooted and unlocked and GPay does not allow me to add cards. I managed to unroot (removing /system/xbin/su) but GPay still does not allow me to add cards, so I believe it's the unlocked bootloader.
Is there a way to lock bootloader safely?
I have MiFlash but I've heard that flashing ROM with clear and lock option may brick device.
Thanks

How is this possible?
I understood that GPay would not work with unlocked bootloader...
As I said, I have a Mi11 with a MIUI 12 test build: the ROM is rooted and bootloader is unlocked, I managed to delte root removing "system/xbin/su" but Gpay still refuses to add cards
I just unlocked bootloader, no root ! with root it never worked.
SafetyNet passes
GooglePay is working (added Paypal)

Could it be that for test ROM that I have, which comes already rooted, even if I remove manually root, something remains in the system that make safetynet not pass?
maybe that there are some root files or something...
you can try, if you install the xiaomi.eu rom with full wipe/format data.

Is xiaomi.eu working fine? Any drawback? Is iit based on MIUI 12.5?
for me iit works amazingly well !!!
no problems so far. everything is smooth and fast.
yes it is Miui12.5 based

Ok, on device 1 I reflashed MIUI 12 test build, I removed root manually, root checker says I am not rooted but safetynet checker fails, maybe because it's not an officially approved Google ROM yet and it's stil an internal XIAOMI test build... After all XIAOMI engineer told me that if I lock the bootloader phone will even stop working (and that is why my 3rd sample got stuck in fastboot: will have to unlock now...)
Will test xiaomi.eu on device 2

Thank you, for sure will make a donation as I've used few iterations of XIaomi EU already. Just one question. Will 5G work? As previously some users were reporting that after flashing to Xiaomi.eu it didn't.
5G is shown only when device is using 5G network.. not just when 5G coverage detected like in China ROM..
screenshot from China ROM "Fake 5G".. showing 5G but connected to 4G/LTE..
Deleted
Once I flashed the xiaomi.eu rom on my Mi 10 ultra I never managed to get 5G again, so it wasn't just when it wasn't being detected. This was reported by others so will wait to see what others say before I do mine this time.

I think its not the case for example in our subway there is only 5G coverage, so with china rom i have 5G and everything works perfectly but on xiaomi.eu i have no signal.....

I believes so!
There's posts in the xiaomi.eu forum saying they now have the same issue with the Mi 11 Ultra. As soon as they use the xiaomi.eu rom, they lose 5g.

I'm not sure I agree. In the same places where 5G worked with the CN rom, I got 4g speeds with the xiaomi.eu rom, 5G just didn't work once I'd flashed it. Others all had the same issue.

can you post screenshot from About phone screen? thank you
It looks like latest xiaomi.eu version for Mi 11 Ultra fixed some 5G related issues . If they are related to 5G connectivity for China Version , that would be brilliant .
Good day,
I am trying to get my phone out of fastboot loop.
My device is CN version. Here are the steps I have done.
- bootloader is unlcoked
- tried flashing EU stable and weekly rom
- tried MiFlash tool to flash a stock CN rom.
All ended up in fastboot loop. Anyway I can revive my device?
Thank you for your help.

How To Guide Custom ROM (GSI) for Realme 8 pro

I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
Thank me if it works fine, But don't blame me if it doesn't work.
Click to collapse
First Unlock your bootloader
Go to fastboot mode
Enter this command in fastboot
Code:
fastboot reboot fastboot
Your phone will reboot to fastbootd (It will look as if you are in Recovery, but its fastbootd mode)
Now download any GSI ROM and extract system.img
Enter the following commands
Code:
fastboot erase system
fastboot flash system system.img
(optional) Additional flash magisk patched boot.img for root with the following commands
Code:
fastboot erase boot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Happy Custom ROMing
Tested with Pixel Experience GSI on Realme 8 Pro (RMX3081 - Product ID 20711), But it should work with any custom rom
There is a square-shaped notch near the camera hole, instead of a round one
Because GSI is not made specifically made for this device
If somehow I get a Nandroid backup of custom from realme 7 pro, then probably that square hole can be corrected
Message me if you have realme 7 pro, or know someone who has realme 7 pro
