Question: If I Downgrade Amazon Ali G6 XT1925-6 to 8 would I be able to unlock the bootloader? - Moto G6 Questions & Answers

So, I have been doing a lot of reading and I think this would work. As we know Amazon is not allowing Moto Ali G6 XT1925-6 to be unlocked. One person said he was able to unlock his phone that had Oreo on it. If I use the oldest 8 stock ROM from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/ali/official/AMZ/ I think I should be able to unlock the bootloader. Then I can install any custom ROM.
As I understand it since both factory ROM would have the same manufacture signature. Or did anyone have a better solution?

No, if you downgrade firmware with a lock bootloader, you will not be able to toggle the "OEM Unlocking"
because the device will not boot.

OK, now that it is brick shouldn't I now be able to install any ROM I want via rescue? Sorry, but I like to think outside the box.
Oh., I think I should state why I want to go to 11. It Dark Mode.
I am having problems looking at my phone. Gmail on 9 doesn't have Dark Mode. Websites are white. Even "Setting" can't be changed which when I set the theme to Dark you would had thought it would. I am using Chrome Beta so that helps, I've tried those blue light apps.
I was hoping that switching to 11 would give me more Dark mode options. I can't buy a new phone right now.
If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it. Thanks

Bootloop in XT1097

Hi
I just got a XT1094, with the chilean carrier Movistar everything was great until I installed a leaked new version of google seach, the phone stop working and when I turn it of and turn it on again gets on a boot loop hole.
I can access the fastboot mode but when I use recovery appears the android robot wih the warning sign for a few second and then it goes to the boot loop again, factory reset dosn´t work neither.
The phone isn´t rooted or have the bootloader unlock.
Please I am starting to get kind of desesperate.
You have the XT1094 ? Odd, i bought it on release on same carrier and it is the XT1097
If its not rooted or unlocked, just go to Movistar and change it, ill do that since if you mess up something you might lose warranty.

Actually I assume that was that version but I cant confirm, I cant return it to movistar one of the first thing that I did was let it escape of my hands so it now have a few scratch that will avoid the warranty I am sure.
I dont think that a few scratches will void warranty, after all the problem is "software", just go and say that it doesnt turn on and it goes to bootloop
Especially when it is THIS new, and its not the hardware that it fails. I assume that since its unrelated it should not void it
I will try it, I don't know what else to do I will have to go tomorrow.
In the worst scenario if they tell me that my warranty is voided, What sould I do?
I think you could flash another stock rom trough ADB, look for a pure edition (Brazilian should be ok)... That should work.
By the way, in the base of the phone is the version of your phone (next to where you charge the phone)

Yeah I haven't noticed it until a few minutes and you were right is a XT1097.
I have downloaded a few stock roms called moto x pure KXE21.187-42 and a Moto x pure multi tool that in the post said that work with XT1097 also but I need to have the bootloader unlocked and I don't know if I can unlock the bootloader in this status.
You can access fastboot, so yes you should be able to unlock it (search the FAQ in this forum for more info on how to do it)
BUT go to movistar first, keep this as a backup plsn, if you mess something you may lose the phone.

Do I need the developer edition of the Moto X in order to install cyanogenmod?

I'm on the Verizon network and I want to purchase the Motorola Moto X and put cyanogenmod on it. I read that I have to have the developer edition of the phone in order to do this. I was thinking of purchasing it from this ebay vendor...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-XT...55120?pt=Cell_Phones&var=&hash=item5d507be410
This is my first time purchasing a phone on ebay so I wanted to make sure I am getting the correct phone. I guess my question(s) would be...
Can I install cyanogenmod on this phone? Is this the developer edition phone?
Thanks.
You should be able to install custom ROMs, including CM, with a little effort. This does not appear to be a dev phone. However, all you need is the ability to unlock the bootloader in order do the things necessary to flash custom ROMs. In terms of flashing ROMs, the only difference between a dev phone and an unlocked regular phone is the dev phone will still have an intact warranty. Since this device supposedly comes with 4.2.2, you should be able to run sunshine from the rootninja to unlock the bootloader for $25 (I think it's 25).
You sound like a fairly new flasher. In that case, you need to read read read. Forums, tutorials, every sticky in the Moto X forum, fastboot/adb tutorials, read read read. There are smart people (I am not one of those people) here who will help you but you will save yourself a lot of time and frustration if you educate yourself first. Best of luck my friend and happy flashing.
P.S. always remember to nandroid.
Like cntryby429 said IF it does indeed come with Android version 4.2.2 than you should be able to unlock with sunshine and flash away. I would definitely double check with the seller first though and make sure that is what is actually on the phone.
You'll possibly be disappointed when you use any rom other than stock based ones. No unique moto features on them.... And certain so far unfixed bugs.
Stock and gravity box seems to be the popular choice. If your bootloader is unlocked and you're rooted.
If by chance you get a 4.4.4 device.... You won't be able to Root or pay even to unlock.... As of today.
Good luck!
Thanks for the help guys.
@KJ
What moto features are you referring to? As a former Droid X user I can say that I'm flashing cyanogenmod to get rid of moto features/bloatware. The seller said that the phone was on 4.2.2, so I don't think that 4.4.4 will be a problem for me. Also, I was also under the assumption that cyanogenmod gave me root by default. Has that changed?

If you unlock your bootloader, which you would have to to flash any rom.... Rooting is simple. Unlock. Flash custom recovery. Flash SU binaries, tho I think twrp and the others do this.... Then install SU. Done.
Active display and touchless control are only on stock and stock based roms. That's why most stay stock and use Gravity box to customize.
And maybe it's changed, but last I knew... Aosp/cm roms have sound or speaker issues. That's the big issue.
Debloating what you don't want is as simple as freezing the apps with titanium backup. ?
Just my 2 cents. To each their own of course.
CM or any custom ROM will have root built in. But you have to be unlocked and rooted with custom recovery before you can flash. Moto x features KJ was referring to would be active display, touch less control, and assist. Any AOSP, or CM based ROM will not have these features. I have flashed about every ROM available for our device and always return to stock. Xposed modules will allow you to customize your phone while running stock firmware. And if you want to remove bloat, just being rooted will allow that.

First off that listing of specs looks like a copy/paste of the default Moto X feature set when it shipped. I would question that it really still has 4.2.2 rom on there, especially since it says "seller refurbished." 4.2.2 was the initial version the X shipped with, and the first OTA update. Since then, 4.4, 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 have been pushed too it.
It does not appear to be a Developer Edition of the XT1060, but rather a regular retail or Moto Maker version.
To flash any rom besides the Stock and signed by Moto roms for the Verizon XT1060 onto the phone, you need to Unlock the Bootloader.
As @kwyrt mentioned, Sunshine can be used to unlock the bootloader if the XT1060 is on 4.4.2 or lower (and its bootloader is for 4.4.2 or lower). As @KJ said, if you have 4.4.4 you can't bootloader unlock. That is because Sunshine doesn't work 4.4.4, Moto doesn't give out the unlock codes for the Non-Developer Edition XT1060, and the China Middleman (who was selling codes) isn't responding.
So it all comes down to how accurate that listing is. Does it really have 4.2.2? or did they upgrade it when "refurbishing" it but used a copy/paste of an old "spec sheet"?
And of course, if it was a true developer edition, you could just get the bootloader unlock code from Moto's web site and be done with it.

[Q] Moto X 2013 not receiving updates

I have Moto X (2013), I want to know why my phone is still on 4.4.2 KitKat and not getting any newer updates? Others running 4.4.4 KitKat and about to get Android L, what's wrong with my phone? I have tried resetting my phone couple of times and tried Motorola Device Manager too but no luck. I don't know whether I have XT1049 or XT1058 because I got this phone from a friend, he just gave it away and I am not living in a country where I can get Motorola Support. I thought I had XT1049, I contacted Republic Wireless, they checked my IMEI number and told me that it's not their phone, I contacted Motorola's online support they told me by looking at the IMEI number it's XT1058 AT&T phone but when I connect my phone to my computer it says "XT1049 is connected to the computer" and in pictures "details" I can see that the picture is taken by XT1049, I am so confused. Kindly help, I want updates coming to my phone

Your device belongs with ACG Regional Carriers. It is currently at 4.4.2 only. You can see your model in the lower area of your back panel..
Check out moto site for your device. Your "System Version" in the screen shot is "161.44.38.ghost_row.ACGLTE.en.US". Check out...

OTA updates are really up to your carrier and/or Motorola. You will seen no updates, until THEY make them available.
When the bootloader is locked, you can only flash official roms (or parts like recovery) for your model/carrier, which are digitally signed by Motorola. Attempts to flash anything else, will fail.

As for unlocking the bootloader, and/or rooting.. see -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...w-root-moto-x-confusion-t2826159/post54671918
Why would you want to unlocked the bootload? So you could flash either a totally custom rom, or a rom meant for another carrier/model 2013 X which might be newer. (like some ATT XT1058 users like to flash Rogers XT1058 rom to get rid of the ATT bloat).
I really know nothing about the "ACG Regional Carriers" variant of the Moto X. I'm not sure if it might be the same hardware as another variant, only with a different ROM flashed on it. So I don't know if its safe to flash another carrier's ROM on it. But with an unlocked bootloader, you can try 3rd party roms like CM11 or CM12.
Unlock the BL and flash custom ROMs
You may want to edit your post and remove your imei number. It can be hijacked and leave you with a non functioning device. (no calls or texts or data anyway.)

v21: Root/Unlocked Bootloader + TWRP?

Hi! When I got my R1 HD, I wanted to get Lineage OS and TWRP. I tried everything including:
adb "fastboot oem unlock",
SP Flash Tool, and
DirtyCow R1-HD Tool,
yet I found no luck. Does anybody know how to get an unlocked bootloader and TWRP on an R1 HD v21? Thanks!:good:
P.S:
My "Custom build version" is:
BLU_R0011UU_V21_GENERIC. Also, this is not the Amazon Prime variant, however I got this from Amazon (for example: I get no ads).
Sorry to tell you, but version 21 of the ROM cannot be bootloader unlocked or rooted. The more recent updates have secured the phone so that none of the previous methods you mention work anymore. The phone is no longer being manufactured and Blu does not provide a process for unlocking the bootloader as some other companies, like Motorola, do. So even though you paid more to get the no ad version, you can't root it. 8-( This was only possible in the earlier versions of both the amaon and non-amazon models.

no, the signed updates are incremental so, the checksum verification will pervent flashing old version
OK.... What's the best thing to do now?
I found this option in my updater that says "Local updates". Maybe this can help?

No, sorry - there is no known way to root or flash modified software after the phone has been upgraded with factory software. You can't go back. And, even if you could, it wouldn't help - it still couldn't be rooted or flash a modified ROM. Blu does not offer to unlock bootloaders the way some companies, like Motorola, do. Your phone is stuck with what you have now.
The best thing to do now? Enjoy your cheap android phone with great performance for the price!

Well, is there at least a way to skin the phone (ex: change bootanimation, remove bloatware (Yes, there is still bloatware apps, and I'm talking REMOVE the apps, no uninstall for user only), remove the Adups spyware) so that it is just like stock Android?

No - all those things require root, which you can't get. Only the phones that were shipped with earlier versions of the ROM and hadn't been updated over-the-air could be unlocked and rooted.
Related. I have an 8GB phone; Custom build:
BLU_R0010UU_V8.7_GENERIC 05-08-2017
I've been trying to install TWRP (and then Lineage) but I'm having zero luck with SPFlash. I've tried on a couple of computers and followed the directions step by step. Am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Edit: yep, saw in another thread anything above 8.1.
Imma email Blu and see if they'll loosen the restrictions if they're stopping development. Can't hurt at this point.

Is there a post i have misses where i can see which apps and files needed to be transfered to have accesess to specific features. Or is that a figure it out yourself thing?
A start would be to install the factory service software 1.5, but the common version doesn't work. Need Chinese phone number to register on a download website for the adapted one - may give some more insights but without exploit no bootloader unlock.

It may be because i haven't ventured further. But as far as i can see on my phone, the bootloader should be unlockable. Or at least i have allowed OEM unlocking which states "Allow bootloader to be unlocked".
So is it when i get further into the process it still won't allow the bootloader to eb unlocked?

You can tick the "allow unlock" button but that's all. None of the unlock commands work. I think @jericho246 tested that.
