Question update for mi 11 ultra version 12.5.7.0 - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

i am a mi 11 ultra user, i gought it from China, and i have already unlocked it and flash it to global version Miui 12.5.5.0, now my device shows for an existing update of version Miui 12.5.7.0, which is already dowmloaded to my device, but the device cannot execute it.
i am trying since days to find a way to update my phone to version 12.5.7.0 without success, any body can help to solve my problem.
thank you!

Is that downloaded ROM is fastboot or flashable .zip file ?

xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11Pro_MI11Ultra_V12.5.7.0.RKACNXM_v12-11
this is the name, i don't know what kind of ROM!

The update was received automatically trough OTA or did you downloaded the update manually ?
I had to download the full 4GB or so 15.5.7 update because the incremental one wasn't working.
Please let me know if you need assistance on installing the full update. You can find the rom on one of the threads on this forum.
Good luck !

From the filename it's not the Global ROM but the Xiaomi.EU custom ROM.
This would also mean it's an update to be flashed using TWRP.
Sadly for now the update through system settings doesn't work as TWRP doesn't presently support this feature.
So you need to download the update (which you apparently did ), then boot into TWRP and flash the update from there.

Don't forget that if you coming from any other ROM, stock or non weekly EU, you will need to format your phone, so make sure you have access to your data or back up. This due to partition differences between the ROMs. If you don't, you may end in a boot loop until you do.

Reboot to TWRP ( use can use the shortcut in settings, device settings, my device and click on the 3 dots top right for menu). Once in twrp, enter screen lock password press return. Select install, select update zip file and slide the slider to the right to flash.
Once done select wipe cache and dalvik, slide the slider to the right to wipe, then select reboot system. This will not format your data as long as it's the same ROM branch you are updating, IE EU weekly to weekly, stable to stable or stock to same stock.
It will take longer to reboot first time but as long as you see miui and 5g, just wait, it will be fine.

You need TWRP to flash that

here is the problem, i have downloaded the TWRP and followed the instructions but the device booted in Chinese language, i have mixed up and stopped the procedure!

Did twrp boot in to Chinese or the ROM? If it's twrp, just type in your screen lock password, then look for settings and select the globe to change to English.
If your ROM is now in Chinese, you flashed the wrong ROM.

my ROM is global, the phone was in Chinese and i have unlocked the bootloader after waiting 336 hours, then flash the Chinese ROM to Global V12.5.5.0, after that i had a message that there is a new update to V12.5.7.0 and here i have stuck!

Yay done with the Mi 11 Pro, only thing I didn't notice was reboot after installation not sure where that is, had to manual restart but updated none the less.

Anyone got a working TWRP for Mi 8 global? MIUI 10.

As title. I've tried like 5 different TWRP versions linked from all over the Mi 8 forums and none have worked for me. Any and all versions have made the ROM unable to boot, every restart will load recovery instead and I have to flash stock boot to get the ROM to work. Bootloader unlocked, ROM rooted by having Magisk create a patched boot cos every other way also failed.
I'm also looking for it.

Currently https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-0-mi-8-t3837745 this version working but you've to format all of your data then flash your rom. I know its not the standard solution and even I'm waiting for official TWRP for our beloved Mi 8.
You need to choose Format Data first, Reboot again to Recovery, and then flash the DM Verity and Encryption Disabler.
After that, you can go ahead to flash any ROM you like.

Believe me, it worth the efforts! It would be much better than staying with crappy MIUI 10 Global Stable.
Currently, I'm with MIUI EU 10.0.6.0 Stable and I don't want to go back to stock MIUI Stable, just don't forget to install Magisk 17.2 for root access, replace the GPS.conf with your preferred country server URL (I believed it should be Malaysia) - look for a thread by @RainGater for the complete walkthrough - and although it is not necessary, it would be better to edit the default Xiaomi EU build.prop to change the region to match your country (by default it is set to Romania or some EU country, I forgot)

I don't actually have a problem with my ROM. My GPS works fine, and I've already gotten root on my stock Global. Right now in my journey with Android which started with the HTC Desire Z, I don't need a custom ROM, I just need root for the occasional app that needs it I do have root now, but would love TWRP too so I can make full backups. Will check out your links regardless, thanks!

Data security and phone encryption. Miui custom rom

My new MI8 SE is not my daily use, so I got time to check all available MIUI custom rom (eu,Globe,MiRum,Miuipro,Ros,MS and Masik 1.8.)
At this point no problem, they install very well and they answer my needs.
BUT:
AS EVERYBODY should know that it is very easy to delete the central Password and finger print by the mean of our sophisticated tool (I mean TWRP).
In order to be safe '(without turning back to stock rom) I tried to encrypt the phone WITHOUT success...
Process failed every time with different results (full reset, logo loop for hours, partial encrypt for data only). But was always the point that minimum security can't be reached!
Question:
-Can you well sleep If you mind that you are having all your precious data available in the wind as soon your phone is lost or stolen or even worst let in some bad friends hands...? It takes 1 mn to delete the file without any computer.
I see a partial solution by installing afterward a stock recovery that does allow to trick the system file.
(If somebody has it, I am available to test this option, but don't tell me to flash a stock rom as solution!!)
Your comments/solutions are welcome.
You can have encryption with custom ROM, if the corresponding kernel enabled built-in force encryption.
I'm currently running phh treble 9.0 encrypted, with stock kernel patched by this script:

Thanks for taking care of my post.
This is old now.
I've investigated a bit more and found ways to get MIUI custom ROM encrypted. (for now I want to stay with MIUI stuff!)
I know that almost all AOSP like rom may well encrypt from first install.
My aim was and is still to warn people that without encrypt their phone are open like a lost book.
Thanks for the very interesting and documented thread (link) you directed me to.

Just take care to flash latest 1227 version after EU rom older than 8.12.20 date.
In my view it's a mistake to backup anything with TWRP because as of today nothing is stable. Better to stay with MIUI backup and computer duplication.

you flash 9.2.15 with TWRP 1102 or 1217.
YOU DON't REBOOT THE ROM.
you flash twrp 1227 and THEN you reboot the rom and wait install finish, take some time be partient.
simple!

Finally i got it working following your instructions on the MIUI EU forum. Thanks a bunch. :victory: :highfive:
To others for reference. Following are the procedures that i followed to boot up Miui Eu :silly:
- Flash official 8.12.13 (Dev Fastboot Rom) through MiFlash.
- Flash TWRP 1102
- Clean Data
- Push/ Copy and Flash 8.12.20( EU Rom), it booted up finally without redirecting to Fastboot.
- Update 8.12.20 to latest available from system updater.
- Now there won't be any recovery or we aren't able to enter into available recovery even though the system boots.
- Flash TWRP 1227.

Question Official MUII 12.5 Global. Any link and tutorial to flash CN versions?

Hi! I buyed a CN version of Mi 11. Is there any link with the official Global rom for Mi 11 that was rleased today ? Any tutorial?
Thanks!
As far as I know, the Mi 11 Global version won't be available before February 25th (at least here in Europe), so I doubt the global ROM is available yet. Most people recommend the xiaomi.eu ROM over the global ROM because it has some extra features and so on.
I recommend you use Xiaomi.eu's ROM, there's a thread explaining how to do it here. Also, don't forget to unlock your bootloader - you need to wait 7 days before it can be unlocked, so if you start the process today, you'll be able to flash custom ROMs in a week.

Installation ok for me. Like u i was on xiaomi.eu lastest. there is a smalll error : This error is caused because the tool verifies if the device’s bootloader has been locked or not. Since you used the ‘clean all’ or ‘save user data’ option, the bootloader is not locked and the error is shown. This is a problem with the tool itself and is nothing to be worried about since the verification takes place after the flash is fully complete.

You don't mind if I abuse you since you the first known to successfully flash the global rom?
Therefore, my bunch of questions are:
1. Did you use the fastboot version of rom (unzipped tgz)?
2. You did dirty flash form eu rom or did you clear data before flash?
3. You don't have any modem issue, all mobile bands and both wifi (2.4 and 5)?
4. Like first impression: do you still experience massive battery consumption?
5. What are major differences between eu and global?
6. Is the rom smooth and responsive or you experience any malfunctions so far?
7. Google Pay works? If you don't use it, could you be so kind and install safety net tester and report the results?

hello I have my mi 11 on the global rom for 1 week
I flashed my phone with the fastboot rom (adb) and everything went well (if the phone restarts in fastboot mode, force the boot in recovery mode and does a data factory reset whip)
google pay works fine for me
my phone works without problem (no slowdown, no problem with the wifi connection on the phone, all Google services work perfectly)
after the rest has already been said

hello I have my mi 11 on the global rom for 1 week
I flashed my phone with the fastboot rom (adb) and everything went well (if the phone restarts in fastboot mode, force the boot in recovery mode and does a data factory reset whip)
google pay works fine for me
my phone works without problem (no slowdown, no problem with the wifi connection on the phone, all Google services work perfectly)
after the rest has already been said

So, first i have to install xiaomi.eu-rom? Is that the right order?

Question Internal Storage Encrypted

I need some help, I have Mi 11 Ultra CN version, I unlocked BL and install the Global Rom using fast boot, I enjoyed it, but battery seems to suck.
I installed MIUI EU 12.5.4 and now that I'm trying to update it to EU 12.5.7.0 within the phone, it tells me my internal memory is encrypted. How can i install the update or decrypt my internal memory. It does not allow me to install the update... any help will be appreciated it..

You can try with Mi flash (dont relock bootloader)
MIUI EU 12.5.4 not EEA but CN version
Set a lock screen lock, then go to twrp and use it to unlock and decrypt the storage
i was able to install twrp and that did the trick, BTW what's the downsize of installing twrp as my boot recovery... it's been a while since I mess with a phone but now my google messages says network not ready when sending a picture message, but i can received them, if I use the stock message app, I don't have any issues at all

There is no downsize. You are only replacing stock recovery with a different version. It has no affect on your phone, it's and your own data. It just makes it easier to flash custom or even returning to stock if required as well as other tools offered in the TWRP package.

im not well known with TWRP.
Try what I wrote in post 3, https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/internal-storage-encrypted.4289325/post-85151561

Give me a couple of hours until I get home and I'll show you how I did it.. I did not root my phone BTW
@sheephurther I used this Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot to install TWRP
https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools/releases/tag/7.0.3
Hope this will help you..
Make sure phone is in ADB Debugging mode.
Thanks.i gonna try later today.i let you know if it worked.

Installing twrp doesn't install root. It just replaces the system recovery. If you really want root, use Magisk but I've not found any reason to root my phone for ages.
I tried today but it doesn't work.
To bad!!I'll try it later on.

Did you try setting a lock screen pin, pattern or pw and then using it to decrypt in TWRP? I'm using 3.5.1 twrp version fine.

When your get asked to decrypt enter 1234 and press the ok bottom on the bottom right
Is there a film on YouTube that exactly tells how to install Twrp on mi 11 ultra?I tried several but it does not work.how difficult can it be??or maybe I am Tu stupid
I sold a phone yesterday to somebody, doing the full wipe before that. It was on the latest weekly Xiaomi.eu. Now it has this issue. Is it possible that it is the same thing?

Question Is there a way to force/download OTA updates?

Ok guys, I'm new to MIUI so please be gentle
So I'm on stock MIUI 12.5.4 global (RKAEUXM) but there is a 12.5.6 out (also RKAEUXM).
I have no intentions of rooting etc. and I wonder if there is a way to download/force just the OTA?
Is saw the Google answers where it says set region to India etc, but that does not work (also tried with vpn)..
Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!

Hey thanks for taking the time to answer my question..
Your first link brings me to a blank page with only an add for MIUI community app.
Your second link shows a download page which doesn't show a version, only says "global" and actually also say "modified copy" in Chinese.
So yeah, I'm not going to just risk that if you don't mind...

Links are clear.
You can upgrade your phone by Local Update method without unlocking your phone. The method suits for the situations listed below for sure: Update to Global Stable ROM from Global Stable ROM, Update to Global Beta ROM from Global Beta ROM, Update to Global Beta ROM from Global Stable ROM and vice versa. If you encounter the issue that the reboot page keep loading for a long time after flashing, you can choose to wipe all data via entering Recovery Mode. You can turn off your device and then hold both Volume+ button and Power button at the same time to enter Recovery Mode.
STEP 1Download the latest MIUI ROM file Click here to download
There is no need to do it again if you’ve already downloaded the latest ROM file.
STEP 2Connect your device to the Windows PC/laptop via a micro USB cable, and copy the ROM file downloaded in Step 1 into the folder ‘downloaded_rom’ in the internal storage of your device.
STEP 3Launch ‘Settings’ app on your device, select ‘About phone’, click ‘System update’, then press ‘three dots’ icon at the top-right corner, and select ‘choose update package’ to enter. Choose the ROM file you’ve put in ‘downloaded_rom’ in Step 2.
View Image
STEP 4After choosing the right ROM file, your device will begin upgrading. Your device should automatically boot to the new version when the update is completed.
Go to system update->tap on the main icon 5/6 times, this will unlock hidden settings->now download manually from trusted websites like mifirm the RECOVERY version of YOUR rom. ->go then to update again and select on the three dots at the up right "choose update package"

If nothing works, try changing the region: belgium.
There are some fix for errors like that, check it out
This video shows a way how to do it:
Can't confirm if this is the best/official method, but it seems easy.
Ok guys thanks! I was able to update without issues.
I was hoping it would fix a bug I face with setting custom ringtones, but it didn't.. very annoying..
But thanks anyway! I'm on latest stable now..
