Question CN or Global (EU) Phone ? - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

hey there fellow XDA Members and Mi11 Ultra Owners!
Any downsides of buying the CN Version of this Phone over the Global/EU Version?
i've got the MiMix2s and have there the issue that it got some new Baseband FW someday that now produces issues in the EU Network... also other Phones from xiaomi had this issues that the CN Versions where somewhat troublesome

I bought the china version and when it comes to google integration, it's very limited what you have.
your apps and messages won't automatically sync, there is always the chinese apps that you can removed, but the AI stays there.. I installed the global version and it's like a normal google phone, everything will be download it to your Mi Ultra 11, no need to download each app individually, . If I was you, i would spend the little extra money it cost fot the global version and get it.

Just get the CN phone and flash the EU Rom.

Honestly I recommend buying the global version as internet bands differ from the Chinese version at hardware level, so no firmware can change that. Many people didn't find this an issue anyway, but I would recommend you to stay on global

I've not seen any changes to radio bands in any specs. I would have thought that they would not change the modems hardware antennas for different regions? If you have some specs showing the different bands can you let me see them or a link, I'm really interested if they have.

there are I've read this many times

AFAIK bands are identical this year.
5G works here with CN model so I'm good.

Bands are different, sure you have 5g but you may miss something on some specific carrier

As far as I know, the hardware is identical
You can Check your location and carriers on kimovil.com

I posted a website where you can actually see the bands used by both versions, they are different, also on these pages in the thread "where to buy the mi 11 ultra" it's been posted many times, it's where I heard of it

But the hardware can select the bands from the modems configuration per sim and network location required to the maximum bands built to be used per model. See all the mi 11 ultra configurations in the screenshots taken from mine.
Mine is not rooted, but it would be good to see the modem config from a global hardware sold phone and a Chinese hardware sold phone both using the same ROM to see if there are any difference's in bands using the Qualcomm modern config app. I would be happy to be proved wrong but I bet both have the same bands, just applied different.

No rom or firmware can change the bands sorry

This is my first post so forgive any stupid errors or remarks ! I bought a Mi 11 Ultra with the CN Rom. I'm waiting for the bootloader to unlock and I was going to install the EU Rom. But I have been using it after taking off the bloatware and to be honest it's behaving and works well. The 5g speeds are good and it seems to change between 4g and 5g smoothly when moving about. I've attached a screenshot of a speed test done sitting in a coffee shop on Tottenham Court Rd London. No over heating and camera works well. So I'm seriously considering leaving it locked and using the CN Rom.
But willing to hear why that's a stupid idea!
Thanks

The CN ROM works well if you're patient and don't mind debloating and tuning it to ensure all Google apps work as it should since it does require some tweaking. For example, I remember my Google Pay didn't initially work.
I remember getting 150Mbps on LTE+ with EE in London Bridge station over a month ago which was fantastic although I heard the EU Weekly runs a bit more efficient with the memory management and process allocation. What eventually sold me was the fact that it was based on CN Weekly betas, and those occasionally get camera improvements first before stable across all regions.

I purchased the China version as well, maily because it is a lot cheaper than the global variant. I then wait a week, unlock my bootloader and flash the Xiaomi.eu rom with full Google integration. You see, the Xiaomi.eu rom takes the roms from China and removes all the Chinese bloat and script and then adds in full Google functionality. It's truly the best of both worlds.

Xiaomi MI 6X in europe?

Hello everyone. First of all, I apologize if this topic is not in this section, since I am new to the forum.
I write because I'm considering the purchase of a Xioami MI 6X. I live in Europe, and I know that this phone is a Chinese version. As it is not yet known if the international version will come out (Xiaomi mi A2), I decided for this phone. Why?, because the design, processor, memory, etc ... I know that the REDMI NOTE 5 is very close but I still prefer the MI 6X. The question is, since I live in Europe, and this phone goes with a Chinese version, how difficult would it be to put an international ROM ?, that is, given that on the xiaomi website the international ROM of this phone does not exist, I can install a ROM of any other phone? or it is imposible? And second, is it so serious that it does not have an 800 band for 4G? I have seen that the phone have the other two European bands for the 4G, but not the 800.
Thanks.
The only European store avaible are in France and Italy but they don't have that version of the phone for the moment and maybe they will put it in the future because is recent, for the band this are the supported band: Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900). Becuse isn't avaible the 800 band I suggest to change the model to buy for another from the same producer but with the features that You need it.

Hi,
For this phone it exists a translated rom from xiaomi.eu for each european language, I'm french and I'm not yet decided to buy this phone but I think I will. 290 Euros 6G 128G red version.
Xiaomi.eu uses chinese developper version, debloat it, add playstore and many features.
Updates comes to your phone through OTA weekly the most of the time!
It's very easy and fun, each week an update.
As the phone is updated weekly the phone seems to be more stable with this rom than... Stable global rom! ahah!
To install the rom you have to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP.
The most difficult is to unlock bootloader if you haven't xiaomi permission for your MI account. I had to use a browser trick with a chinese proxy to obtain this permission but you have to do this only one time for your account and can unlock three phones by month. For each new phone, you have to wait 3 days after linking a phone to your MI account in order to obtain authorisation to unlock the bootloader of the new phone.
[Edit] For the 4G problem, it isn't a real problem and sometimes it's an advantage to not have B20 (800Mhz).
In France, I live in a little village without 4G, most of small towns around me have the 4G with the B20 only. I've got a MI5C (withoutB20) and a MIA1 (with B20). The phone without B20 is more efficient because in small towns it turns automatically in H+ or 3G and I've got a very good connection whereas the MIA1 is in 4G with a very bad speed because all people are connected in 4G!!!!!!
When I go in a bigger town I've got 4G without B20.
Conclusion: Without B20 the internet connection is better because you don't use the same antennas as all other users!!!!

That model also shows FDD-LTE Band 4. Seems like a typo. Only mi 6x listing that has band 4.
Unless there really are different mi 6x versions/models.
4G should not be a problem
Now the A2 and the A2 lite will soon be available in Europe. I would recommend getting one of these devices. - You will pay a bit more, but You will get warranty. Nevertheless, I recently bought the 6X for my GF, she does not mind MIUI, which is the major difference between the 6X and the A2. You can get the 6X from China, and flash an xiaomi.eu ROM, and it works very well.
The major concern about 4G should not bother You that much. Check what bands does your operator use and support either on their website or on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe
if Your operator uses only B20, then the phone is not for You - the A2 should support it, tho.

Mi 6x stable in Europe
hi guys, I've bought a Mi 6x in China in May. (128GB/6GB on stock English MIUI 9.5.15.0) It's stable in Europe, almost 100% on 4G, because one of the bands is missing it switches to 3G in certain area's. I like the phone but want to turn it into an A2, haven't found out how to do that. If anyone knows, please let me know.
Hello, thanks for your info, I have recently bought a 6X and I would like to switch to french, could you please let me know if it's possible and how , I am an amateur in this field

French is not available at the moment, the only European language available is English currently
You can search at xiaomi.eu there You can find muli-language transtated roms, and I would say regular ota, plus beta miui builds.
Hi to all
Do anyone flash A2 rom on mi 6x?
Is it possible?
Please share your experience...
i do. already two weeks for daily use and its ok. but i dont know if its OS run fast or slow because my previous phone was iphone 5c with ios 10.3.3 and the far i can say is the OS Android One 8.1.0 is not slow like i feel the same with ios 10.3.3

Question China variant missing B66 band on T-Mobile

Never purchased a non-US compatible device and had a question:
The China variant seems to have most T-Mobile bands (both do not have B71) as the global variant WITH THE EXCEPTION OF B66. Does anyone know whether this will be an issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i get my china variant Mi 11 Ultra on Monday, im on T-mobile and i live in NYC. i can report back to you then.

Lucky you! Yes please let me know how the reception turns out. I don't really care about 5G since it's not that widespread, but wondering how 4G LTE will be like.
If you have any opinions on the China variant as you begin to use it, please post as well! Also considering it since there is a cheaper variant (8G+256GB).
Any updates how CN version working in NY with T-Mobile?
interesting to see speed test on 4G. Is actually supporting one 5G band.

when i ran speed test i get 10Mbps here in Queens at my house. but the real test for me will be at my job, since i dont get any WiFi there.
I also did a factory reset (a habit i always do) and playstore disappeared, i looked on youtube for easy video to re-install. This is my 1st Xiaomi phone, so im getting use to MIUI. but hardware, much better than my Note 20 Ultra. the display is better and the frame rate i see it faster on mi 11. I plan to flash global ROM, but stuck waiting 168 hours for unlock to go thru. this is only my 2nd day with the mi 11 and i like it already. going out later to take some pics.
Don't buy China version because it doesn't support well Carrier Aggregation combinations used by TMUS so you don't get good speed from network. Also it missing B71 and B66 bands - common in US networks. 5G only works with n41 SA when available theory.
Here is list of supported bands and Carrier Aggregation combinations: https://cacombos.com/device/M2102K1C

Is there somewhere I can view a map of which T-Mobile bands are used throughout the US?

Question Pros/Cons of China variant abroad

For those that have the China variant abroad, can you provide your thoughts and experiences thus far? Thought it would be nice to have a centralized thread for those considering to pick up a China variant over the Global one.

On your China ROM, is Google PAY working with UK banks?
I'm wary of ordering the China model if it doesn't work. Unlocking the bootloader and then getting Google Pay to work is much more difficult since Feb when Google changed things so I'd keep it locked.
P. S. Is wifi calling with EE working too?

Android Auto - appears to work perfectly. Only installed to test and don't actually use it at all but it seems fine.
Google Discover - I haven't found a way to do that I'm afraid (I'm also a fan of it). Best workaround I've found is adding Google search widget to home screen. If you press the 'G' symbol on that, it essentially loads Google Discover.

There are differences in the bands. Yes 4G and 5G will work but not 5G N78 that's the 3.5ghz frequency.
So don't expect blazing fast 5G speeds on CN version.

EU ROM is basically a community led Custom ROM with good support based on the China ROM.
Global is the ROM Xiaomi officially puts on the models of their phones they launch internationally. It uses google messages, dialer, etc by default.

Question UK Users services

Interested in UK users experiences with getting network features working fully.
Does WiFi calling, volte , visual voicemail, 4G+ and 5G, GPay et al work for you?
What ROM? What carrier?
Did you have to disable carrier checks? Or did it work out the box?
Also non region specific stuff too I guess , android auto experience etc etc.
I'm on a contract with EE.
VOLTE, WiFi calling, 4G+, 5G and Google Pay all working without any issues straight out the box. I don't use Android auto so I can't comment on that I'm afraid. CN ROM currently on MIUI 12.5 stable.

I didn't have to pay any import tax or custom fees. You can also buy from Wondamobile which they say won't incur any import charges either: https://www.wondamobile.com/xiaomi-mi-11-ultra-5g-12gb-ram-256gb-dual-sim-unlocked.html
Yeah, I have used Wonda a few times. Going to go with TS this time to see how it goes.
Hopefully sell my old Note 20U soon.

I'm now in 12.5.2 EU rom, and on Vodafone UK.
Still no 4G+/CA. 5G does work but nPerf states it's 4G. VoLTE, VoWiFi, GPay all fine.
Be interested to know if anyone gets CA working on Vodafone UK with the Global or EEA rom. May have to wait to see what version is released in the UK.
Yip. I have ordered today from TS.
I have a EE work SIM, but use Sky personality. Will be interesting if all works with them as they are quite restrictive on device support.
I don't get 4G+ CA anywhere locally anyway, but bizarrely get 5G at the end of my harbour pier .
Will have to see if it's worth flashing global ROM next month after the UK release. Everything points to the CN being more than usable after tweaking though.
I was on Chinese stock, now global. Sky and EE work fine on both, I use them too.
Global obviously does have full Google services, not the mini pack that was on the Chinese but for some reason they use Google's phone, contacts and text app, so no native call recording. Global is still on original firmware where before flashing I had 12.5 which was a delight, hopefully 12.5 will hit the Global soon.
I will go Xiaomi EU ROM if and when a twrp is released or the fastboot bricking issue has been well resolved. I used EU version on my 10 ultra and it is a dam good ROM.
Brilliant.

Does volte and WiFi calling work on SKY on CN ? ( Whilst I wait on bl unlock for Global )

I will go Xiaomi EU ROM if and when a twrp is released or the fastboot bricking issue has been well resolved. I used EU version on my 10 ultra and it is a dam good ROM.

Quoted you incase you didn't see question above re sky WiFi calling etc.
Thanks again.
I did tested download speeds on chinese version of Mi 11 Ultra and guess what ? I am getting only 3.66 mb/s on GG network that runs on O2 architecture if im not mistaking .
Before i bought the phone i verified all the network bands and it should be compatible with all Uk carriers on 4 and 5G .
May it be some setting or something ? I tried 2 different speed test services .

Were you getting 4G+ before, and now not, maybe?

Question Modem: Possible to Convert China 512gb to Global 512gb in terms of bands?

Is it a software thing that makes the band selection different between the two variants?
Is it possible to flash Global modem to China version to get the Global bands? or is there a physical difference?
OR
Does anyone think Xiaomi will come out with a 512gb global version in the future?
The different bands are hardware, there's nothing you can do about it.
Also, no, 100% they won't release any global 512gb version in the future.
Years ago there were some Qualcomm tools called QPST Tool and QXDM tool or something like that. I read they were used to "unlock" additional bands... But like I said, that was years ago, so no idea if it would work on the Mi 11 Ultra. Probably not.

Even if adding bands would be a thing...how many more does one even need? Basically all bands are there (except 66 which is prolly a us band).
It's cheaper for them to make one phone from a production standpoint than make ones with different bands for every market they plan to sell it in
I am gonna buy a Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 512gb 12gb ram version, however there's no person ... "I just talked to our technicians, and maximum probable it's going to now not work and if it does then you will ... With the frequency bands as this cellphone is fashioned consistent with the Chinese ... Currently on miui international 12.Zero.3 QJZMIXM I'm in Australia if that matters.
