Question Where does Oneplus provide the Stock ROMs for Nord CE? - OnePlus Nord CE 5G

Hi
pretty much what the title says - I need to download the stock ROM for my new OnePlus Nord CE 5G, so I can patch it with Magisk, I went looking for it and couldn't find it.
Does anyone know where it is made available by OnePlus?
Thanks!

you should wait a day or two, there doesn't seem to be anything aside from bad websites with questionable content

Ok, thanks.
I guess this is the official place, right?
OnePlus Support Softwareupgrade - OnePlus (United States)
support softwareupgrade
www.oneplus.com
but the Nord CE isn't there yet. I really hope it only takes "a day or two" like you mentioned, I don't have much use for the phone before I can restore my Titanium Backup on it, and for that I need root, and for that I need Magisk, and for that I need the stock ROM download

welp the day or two wasnt meant literally
it might take a long time lmao
and yes that looks like the official

Hey! Congrats on the new device! I bought it too!
https://www.oneplus.in/support/softwareupgrade
This is the official oneplus link to download software but for some reason the nord CE isn't listed on there. I wanted the latest update too because there were some bugs in my device which were installation errors mostly. They were fixed with the OTA released a few days ago. My advice is stick around and post on the oneplus community forums since it's much more device-centric.
Thanks

Anyone else getting same issue

Yes. Same issue. Had to download Nova launcher for a workaround, until they sort it out. I wonder if this is the quality software integration with OPPO they were talking about!

Ok I got offered the upgrade today, so this is what we have so far, for OnePlus Nord CE 5G, Oxygen 11.0.5.5

Damn, my package is only 146MB, so I guess it can't be a full package, it's just an incremental update... so I can't use for patching Magisk...
I'm angry at OnePlus for not releasing the Nord CE 5G Stock ROMs, why do they have to make this more difficult than it already is?
I literally only switched from Samsung to OnePlus because it was supposed to be more root-friendly...

Thanks, I didn't know about that app! Cool.
Downloading 2.72 GB now...
Tip for anybody not familiar with the app: you have to go into Settings, turn on Advanced Mode, to get it to allow you to download a full update even if your phone is already up to date.

Hooray !
I just successfully rooted my OnePlus Nord CE 5G!
I used the method that @sanangel recommended above.
Essentially it involves:
- an unlocked bootloader (I had done that on the first day I received the phone, to avoid losing data later)
- getting a full OTA package (I got this using Oxygen Updater app recommended above)
- use Payload Dumper python script to unpack that
- move boot.img to the phone and use Magisk Manager app to patch it there
- move the patched boot.img back to PC and use fastboot to boot from it
- inside that temporary boot, use Magisk to execute a direct install
Thanks to all for their help!

Android 11 Release - Finally!

Exciting to see android 11 come to our OP7 series!
Can someone who doesn't mind being a guinea pig test the update out? I am currently on a third party ROM (i do prefer OEM) however i had to go that route since my usb to audio splitter didn't work after 10.X.X.X update here since November. Was wondering if someone who doesn't mind could update to this latest, and test it out. https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-7-pro-7t-7t-pro-stable-oxygenos-11-android-11/

Can someone try this trick to enable AOD on stable OOS 11?
[ROOT/Magisk] Enable Always on Ambient Display on Oxygen OS 11 Beta 1
Contrary to what OnePlus have said, the code for the Always on Ambient Display is in the first beta of Oxygen OS 11. All you have to do is enable the feature, which is disabled in the "OPFeatures" framework. This is very simple, and can be done...
forum.xda-developers.com
Installed and working stable for me. No problems observed with camera, messaging etc. AOD is irrelevant to me - won't miss it. Battery seems to be stable too - no indication of excessive power usage. Will update if I see anything. BTW, I am stock non-rooted.

There will possibly be a rollback link provided if OnePlus ever make an actual thread for the release, there isn't one at the moment.
OK, I'm mistaken, there is actually a thread now :
OnePlus Community
Introducing our new OnePlus Community experience, with a completely revamped structure, built from the ground-up.
forums.oneplus.com
No rollback link though so you'd likely need to do a full flash which would probably wipe the phone.
Has anyone rooted yet? And if so, which version of majisk did you use?
Hi, I tried rooting with the patched boot.img linked above but it fails to boot twice then enters recovery. Also tried patching the img myself using the latest magisk 22.0 app but it gave the same behavior. I use the command: fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img to flash.
Anyone know what's up ?
EDIT: after the failed boot I have a "BOOT REASON" menu in recovery giving this message:
Code:
--------------------------------
Boot Reason : RescueParty
--------------------------------
Unable to parse kernel log. For more debug information,
adb pull /mnt/vendor/op2/rbr_log
or pull op2.img
Trying the adb command in recovery tells me it's unauthorized and I had to give access from the phone (which isn't possible it seems). Doing the adb pull with the system booted gives:
Code:
adb: error: failed to stat remote object '/mnt/vendor/op2/rbr_log': Permission denied
EDIT 2: After a backup and clean wiping the userdata magisk seems to work now.
From OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 4
to OxygenOS 11
without losing your data.
1.) Download and install OxygenOS 11
2.) Download keep_data.apk
You need to install it after the update was installed but before you restart.
After the apk is installed, run the application, click "KEEP DATA".
You should now be able to restart the phone without losing your data
P.S.
All your applications
and data remain intact

Coming from ob4, I reflashed magisk to the inactive slot in the app after the upgrade was complete but before I rebooted the phone. After the reboot, I tapped on the magisk app and it said it needed additional files. After it downloaded and installed the additional files the phone rebooted and my root works fine. I started with magisk 22.
I am on 10.3.7 rooted with magisk. Before starting, a few questions. Is it possible to upgrade to 11 without losing data and retaining root? If not, is there a magisk for 11. What is the safest way to upgrade? Also, is there twrp for 11? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Fresh install from factory reset. Screen still wigs out on FHD. Unlocking causes everything to be gigantic and have to hard reset. So no change for me from beta 4 to stable 11.

I read the instructions in the zip file. My question is do we install the magisk and boot image before or after we install the update?
So I'm stuck in a boot loop after taking the OTA.
There is a Eu version of Android 11, I woke up with notification )

Question Manual installation of OTA without root?

Hey folks,
I'm in a bit of a limbo atm. Got a brand new Nord CE that came with 11.0.9.9 (EU) and the system side updater doesn't offer 11.0.11.11 yet. Since I want to root before actually starting to use it I'd need a payload.bin for version 9.9 to patch the boot.img with Magisk, but from all I can find here and on the rest of the net there never was a full OTA release for the EU version of that update.
And using the 11.11 boot.img with Magisk just "soft-bricks" the system, either leading to an endless reboot loop, or when it sometimes boots into the system it's half broken and a lot of stuff including wifi doesn't work...
So the big question is: can I somehow install 11.11 manually? Already tried with Fastboot Enhance, but when I set the phone to fastboot mode FE complains about unknown partitions, and in fastbootd mode I can't find any fitting driver. Already tried the qualcomm driver package that was mentioned in one thread, but other than setting my Win10 installation into test mode it didn't change anything...
edit: ugh... ok, sorry that I completely overlooked that 11.11 was officially released not even a week ago. Kind of understandable that the OTA isn't offered on the system updater yet then, guess google takes some time until they offer it to everyone. But my question still stands: any way to install the OTA before the system updater offers it? Does anyone have a working driver for fastbootd mode? Would flashing TWRP be an option? I've used it before on my older phones, but only because it was necessary for rooting, not optional as with the Nord CE.

How To Guide Root on OnePlus Nord CE 5G

I have spend 5 full working days to get root on my OnePlus Nord CE 5G, and have heard several times asking arround, it is the hardest OnePlus phone to root. So I decided to write a short manual to help anybody else.
I used this method:
https://magiskapp.com/root-oneplus-nord-ce-5g-using-magisk/
Where I changed tactics is how to get the boot.img The problem is with this phone is that you are not able to find the same version that your phone comes with, giving a version mismatch with the modem drivers, so making wifi not work, and multiple small problems with your 4G 5G connections and phonecalls.
https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-get-boot-img-from-an-Android-phone
I used TWRP to start a terminal to run those commands locally on the phone, rebooted the device and run Magisk , and then downloaded the patched Boot.img and flashed it via fastboot.
Sounds easy right? it is if you know
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for this post. It was helpful during rooting my oneplus nord ce with oos12 and i would like to give you a tip for boot.img. As you mentioned there was a model name change for me during oos11 to oos12 and the device code changed from eb2103 to eb2101(which helped me to find my device is indian variant). Anyway, , couldn't found an official or unofficial twrp recovery for oos12 so i didn't prooced with the twrp on web to prevent bricking device since i got no warranty. I head to oneplus website to download full rom but thanks to my luck the websites was down so i found that i can download full rom using oxygen updater(can be found in play store). After i finish downloading full rom, i extracted boot image using payload dumper and patched it with magisk app. Voila! now i have root on my nord ce oos12. This huge effort is needed just to enable volte on oos12 because after i upgrade to oos12, my volte switch was gone and that made phone calls unstable.
Anyway thanks again for enlighting the path @pimzwager

Question Is there a safe way to flash OTAs without unrooting?

For some reason even when I remove Magisk and restore stock , I cannot get OTA.
When I try to install the OTA I get the same "downloading update / update paused / there was a problem updating" that happens when you try to OTA with root.
Is there any other way to flash OTAs?
I especially need to do so because my ROM seems to be corrupt.I have no NFC and the OS asks me every time I hit the home key, to select a default launcher. I'm hoping flashing an ETA will help with this.
My suggestion is to factory reset your phone, flash the rollback zip and update to the latest OTA via fullzip and root that,in order to rid of the firmware corruption.

Downgrade package is a full ROM though and then OP can use the updater to run each available incremental update from there. It's not ideal but it is what it is and likely is the only option.

Just wait until Oppo decides to disable fastboot entirely on OnePlus devices like they do with their own. That's the next thing they can do to put the nail in the OnePlus coffin for good. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I feel the same about the choice of Samsung. I have a bigger issue with the modem than the processor though and I knew from the start it was going to be problematic and all the crap I have seen since has confirmed that.
If there is no cracking of the MSM Tools (which seems likely seeing how it hasn't happened for Oppo either), I don't know what I'm going to do. Maybe I'll just go back to iPhone. At least there I'll get a device that performs well with gaming while still having good battery...
In my experience with the 7T and 9 Pro, if you're already rooted and have an update, you can uninstall Magisk/restore stock boot.img, then install the update, BUT before rebooting, go into Magisk and select "install," then "inactive slot (after OTA)," then let it reboot. You should then still be rooted as before.

Restart into Fastboot Mode by holding Volume Down + Power buttons until the device vibrates, then release only the power button
Once in Fastboot mode, try flashing a clean boot and recovery to BOTH slots like this :
fastboot flash boot_a boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b boot.img
fastboot flash recovery_a recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery_b recovery.img

If you have trouble rebooting to FastbootD (Recovery)
Try swapping Active slots from the application (typically slot A worked for me)
Choose reboot to FastbootD
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is this to be used when the OP 10 Pro is ALREADY on OS 13, or is this to be used when the unit is on OS 12 (not yet rooted) and you want to take it to OS 13?
Thanks for your help.
Either or would be fine.
It's an upgrade using a full OTA update.

Can you use ADB tools to restore stock rom if the device was soft bricked?
No. There are a few unbricking tools I've had to use in the past such as MSM tool, Fastboot Enhance Tool, and payload Dumper. (Google them, they're easy to find)
Note, that MSM tools are (nowadays) typically created and coded with a specific device and may also require authentication to unlock.
I've since moved on to the Google Pixel Pro series after seeing the terrible "Franekstien Project" that Oppo applied to Oneplus in their Color OS "make files"... It's literally a "lucky" mash-up of OnePlus Legacy OS and Oppo.
When companies sell out like that, do lazy transitions, etc. and the core reason we supported them in the first place becomes both forgotten and obsolete, that's when I typically stop supporting them.

Yes it does.
Fastboot enhance works fine, you need to remove the cow files first and have a valid payload.bin but that's it
