Gesture on third party launcher is now working - Xiaomi Mi 10T / 10T Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

For you who likes to use third party launcher but still want to keep on using the gesture rather than oldschool navbar button, there's a work around (I've tested it on my 10T)...
What you need:
1. A little bit of knowledge on how to modify a theme
2. Gesture app such as FNG
3. Third party launcher (I use Nova7)
How to:
1. Turn on the navbar button as your defauly setting and turn your gesture app up and running...
2. Put this script on your theme:
Save this script on framework-res > themevalues.xml
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height">0.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height_landscape">00.0dip</dimen>
3. Set your theme and enjoy your new home screen using third party launcher + gesture...

Hi arbayxda,
Thanks for the tip, almost all works, excepet to hide the navbar....
Where can I found the theme folder?
I checked in the \MIUI\theme folder and saved the script to the framework-res folder but no luck...
I have MIUI 12.5.1, default theme, Nova 7.0.37 beta

Default theme should work, but unfortunately you need to have root access in able to save the script onto the default theme...
If you have custom ROM installed, all you need is a modified theme (mtz file) that you can download from any website, save the script mentioned, and import the mtz file via theme manager, then apply it

Ok, thanks, not a big problem, I can use the FNG. Every reboot, I have to disable the navigation bar in the system settings, and working fine.
I would like to ask a favour....
Just for test reason.
Could you pls create a .mtz file include the mentioned script to "hide" the navbar? Example the default stock theme will be perfect....
Because the mtz files installable on the stock ROM and no root required, just enough the MIUI Theme editor as I know. If working, anybody can really hide the navbar on MIUI 12.5 without root, of course, with the FNG....

My question to this is, Miui 12.5 on ID ROM (Indonesia ROM), can't apply third party theme... Although it is a default theme, when I extract the default theme, it's automatically becomes third party theme, it's no longer recognized as the default theme. I don't know if other ROM from other countries can apply any external theme. If your ROM can use a theme that modified by MTE, I surely can extract the default theme and save the script onto it. But it's no use if I make the theme, but your ROM doesn't allow you to apply third party theme... Pardon my English...

Yesssssss!
Working fine the modified stock theme on a non ROOT-ed MI 10T Pro (EEA)
So:
FNG
Modified stock theme with 0 pixel size navbar
MIUI theme editor ( inside the APP don't modify the theme, just next, next, apply, than install )
Thank you so much the help, and the patience!

Hi,
I really would like to test your modified theme too.
Sent you an access request on gdrive
Thanks

Hi arbayxda,
I tried your modified theme on my device (Redmi note 10) and it worked... half !
After being imported and installed with MIUI Theme Editor, the theme can be applied and the nav bar gets hidden.
But for some reason, after nearly 2 hours or so, the theme gets automatically replaced by the default one (maybe because it comes from a different device model)
So It's not a success for me, but I know now that it can be done on an unrooted RN10 (I can now investigate more...)
Oh and, the file to be edited in framework-res is theme_values.xml (not themevalues.xml)
Thanks again for the help and informations

I also sent request for gdrive.

[Metamorph] Kawaz Advanced Launcher : 6 mods and 5 wallpapers inside (23.12.2009)

What is it ?
This is just two simple themed Advanced Launcher I use on my 32B with cyanogen 4.2.8.1 and Darkstar theme.
This is a metamorph mod, not an update.
As this is the first release, there's perhaps some bugs.
If someone want to use it in a theme, there's no problem, just let me know
Instructions :
Download
Standard version : http://android-stock-theme.googlecode.com/files/Kawaz_AL.zip
White version : http://android-stock-theme.googlecode.com/files/Kawaz_white_AL.zip
Arrow version : http://www.box.net/shared/85y0qqv2jc
Cube version : http://www.box.net/shared/z40q1dselg
Grey version : http://www.box.net/shared/lmnx20f08s
Hollow version : http://www.box.net/shared/6sdg95pnd3
And use it in Metamorph app (> 1.7). If you don't have yet Advanced Launcher, Metamorph will install it.
I think it can be used on any rom wich can use Advanced Launcher.
Thanks to :
Cachinjection for the initial Darkstar concept,
Feekyfrogy for the Darkstar theme from wich my mod is based on (tell me if you don't want I use some of your work),
Bahnburner who has metamorphed Darkstar launcher (tell me if you don't want I use some of your work),
Djengizz who motivated me unknowingly by sharing metamorphs and for hosting ,
Stericson for his awesome MetaMorph app,
Benjigarner for folder icons (http://benjigarner.deviantart.com/),
Siristhius for trash icon in white version (http://siristhius.deviantart.com/art/Trash-bin-icon-95130312),
And XDA in general
Extras :
Bamboo background can be found here : http://missnysha.deviantart.com/

And just for the fun, a variation of wallpaper i made some years ago :

didn't work for me as well. I'm guessin' it's 'cuz of the update script. Said something was missing, thus making the addition/theme invalid. Looks great though! Can't wait to use it. Good job!
Its for MetaMorph, not a flash.
Good work man

Yeah..i didn't try to flash it. I used Metamorph, but it didn't work for me. Anyone have better luck? I just downloaded the zip to the root of my sdcard, then opened metamorph, picked the zip from the AndExplorer list from pick theme', but it gave me an error message.
I just looked at it,
The zip file and .thm file should have the same name
also
Code:
CM
4.2.8
Launcher.cpy
/system/app/
AdvancedLauncher.apk
/system/app/
I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do here. The advanced launcher is still the Launcher.apk and the drawables are still the same. Just get rid of that Launcher folder, rename the AdvancedLauncher to just Launcher and the .thm file just needs to be
Code:
CM
4.2.8
Launcher.apk
/system/app/
For MetaMorph to work, the folder needs to be the exact name that the apk is.
oh, and by the way, for those of you who couldn't find the wallpaper he was talking about when they went to that site, just type in 'bamboo zen' when you go to the wallpaper link in the OP and you'll see it. It should be the first one. There's also an inverse one of it which looks pretty snazzy as well.
kool good to see some more darkstar offshoots, hope my next theme inspires such themeing projects.
just a quick one, i personally think that the the background image for the app draw chould do with some refining.
have fun yall
cache
Hi,
Don't know why it doesn't work for everyone...
I'm using Metamoph 1.8.1. I just put the zip in /SDCARD/AndroidThemes/ (as Stericson said in his OP).
@Eessel : exact thanks.
@Jairomeo : zip and thm have the same name (it works on my phone)
I'm not exactly sure what i am trying to do in the .thm. I've just take the metamorph zip from Bahnburner's Darkstar Advanced Launcher and modify some pictures.
The metamorph install Advanced Launcher (with Launcher.cpy subtheme i think)and then themed it (with AdvancedLauncher.apk i think).
As it works for me i hope it can works for every one.
After the first time i use this metamorph, Avanced Launcher was successfully installed and i just have to apply AdvancedLauncher.apk subtheme, not Launcher.cpy.
I've just done a test :
update to cyan 4.2.9.1 -> return to standard cyan launcher
apply kawaz_white metamorph -> advanced launcher is installed and themed...
@cacheinjection : yes, i agree. I've try a semi-transparent image, but have some bugs with it. Perhaps in next version if i found a solution.
Thanks all for comments.
Finally, is there someone use it with success ?
OK !! I anderstand what happend !
I've try to re-download my mod and have seen that my host rename it !
So, i'm going to update the OP with that :
you should rename the donloaded file :
Kawaz_AL.zip for the standard mod
Kawaz_white_AL.zip for the white mod
Sorry for that.
Hello,
When I use a semi-transparent background for menu, i've a bug :
Normal :
With bug :
Icons are in double or triple...
Anybody knows why ?
anyone get this to work with Metamorph 1.7? I am having the same error...
Ive updated to last metamorph (1.8.1) and still having the error message ("id file could not be read or is missing ..").
I've tried with both black and white version, downloaded the files twice nothing work.
And that's a shame, this launcher look real damn good.
Im running Dwang 1.5, with metamorphed theme mainly borrowing to dark star.
Dont know what Im missing, if anybody does, please let me know
Have you rename the downloaded file as i add in the first post ?
Hi,
New mirror added to the first post. You did'nt have to rename files with it.
Thanks a lot Djengizz !
Please let me know if somebody can use those mods now.
Is there any way to use this skin on the home screen only? I just can't bear to go back to three screens (which is what Advanced Launcher does to my baby).

[Q] How to change default appearance of LauncherPro?

When i'm cooking a Custom ROM for my i9000,
does anyone know how to change the custom appearance of my LauncherPro when I freshly install it? So I don't have to restore the backup.
Better explained:
I changed my LauncherPro with a lot of Custom Icons (with Desktop Visualizer).
When I was done, I made a Backup (folder "launcherpro_backup" on /sdcard).
Now when I want to share my ROM, the User starts LauncherPro and SHOULD already see all my Icons/Themes etc.
How to do this?
Dont launcher pro warns you that widgets cant be restored?
Id say probably some kind kind of after install scrip, but still pre boot that will copy some files across.
If u decompile the apk, u'll find a default something xml in layout if i recall.
Honestly, id suggest u share your backup and try this Link

[Request] Change icon pack for any theme in theme store?

There are a few decent themes in Samsungs store. However, the icon packs are horrendous. Nova launcher hides them in some places but not others, like the share menus.
Does anyone know how to flash the material icons over any theme?
Edit: Also, how about the wallpaper for settings and dialers?
Thanks for any help [emoji2]

You would need apktool to compile the icons into the actual theme. However, if you want to just remove the icons and have them stock, you can try this:
-Edit /data/overlays/jsonfiles/userjson/THEMENAME.json and remove the line for "appicon", then delete the corresponding folder from /data/app/THEMENAME.appicon-1. If you want to remove the icons from the lockscreen, you will need to do the same for the "lock" line/file.

Miui roms Fingerprint icon change (almost got solution)

Right, so I'm using miui EU latest stable on k20p raphaelin
I would like to change my fingerprint icon (and maybe fingerprint animation as well?) on miui roms
the feature is in settings for AOSP roms, and from EvoX I got a dragon fingerprint icon png file.
On telegram, I found a theme called PixPie. this theme is a .mtz that changes the full theme and fingerprint icon.
So, I texted the creator of the theme, learned he is using System UI to make the changes.
gave him the png file, and he responded with a custom mtz file that when applied changed my icon (but the icon was huge) oh well.
However, doing this also changed my phone theme to Default. when I was using the Mi9T explorer theme for the awesome lockscreen.
I don't want this, I'd just like to change the icon. can someone teach me how mtz files work?
how to change, where to find, and what to put in the com.android.systemui folder. in the root directory (using Solid Explorer?)
Or if anything, guide me on making a magisk module that creates an app that changes my fingerprint icon?
(idk how to change fingerprint animation, but I'd like it to be cumshot blobs spewing out. I have a graphic designer who can make it for me but he needs specifications I don't have, as I don't know what they are.)
Hi i made some changes try i let me know but this also reset your theme to stock but size of FOD icon has fixed

Thanks for the dragon png, but there must be an easier way to simply change the fod.
the theme removes the current lock screen, is there a file I can quickly make and apply?
(other than having to wait for a dev to post an mtz for every icon)

First of all, you need root for it.
What I know of is you can patch the Themes app to add the importing functionality, but a negative point is that its patching the Themes app to the Chinese Themes app, that means, if you try to find a global theme on the patched app you won't be able to find them since its limited to the Chinese region of Themes.
Download the package from here at the bottom, go to the folder "MI LAUNCHER MOD + THEME PATCHER" and you'll find it, then move it to your phone and flash it via Magisk. You do not need the launcher mod to make it work.

sorry for the very late reply, im not sure about that, you can try flashing the module and risking it, if it bootloops try rebooting to recovery (vol+ and power) till u see the bootlogo, then boot into safe mode, if it doesnt boot to safe mode then wipe date since it probably modified a system file. well - since u said u dont have the import theme function.
