Please Please Please Create Pixel Experience For Realme x7 Max 5g
A device with such power and smoothness will be a wonder with pixel experience

I e-mailed realme guys for releasing the device source but didn't got any response yet once we get sources, I myself will be picking pixel experience (upgrading from pixel2)

Custom Rom development!?!?

Hi peeps, I am new here so if you think my post is lame or goes against the standard of the group or rules, please let me know! I have noticed that xiaomi released the redmi note 4 in january, kernel got released at march and so did lineage os for the phone(it's an estimation and random facts from the internet). All i am saying is doesn't the mi max 2 have enough love to get attention from the developers? I know they have so much work and other devices to maintain but all users like myself at least wants to hear something like a word from the respected developers like from lineage or RR that "yes there is a development undergoing". That's all we want to hear, not just unofficial builds being made. :'(

but porting won't be as good as having it on our mi max 2 directly right? Like there is a question of optimization as well considering its a ported functionality. What most of us want is direct love for our baby. All we want is to see the light of hope of development.

im talking about ported project treble, not ported rom. big difference.
there will never be direct project treble support, unless xiaomi decides to include it in their official oreo update for mi max 2.
otherwise, treble functionality can be ported from note 4 (due to similar hardware and system partitions), thus enabling the mi max 2 to run pure aosp roms without the need to backwards engineer or port any oem / vendor specific drivers or firmware parts.
tl:dr - ported project treble is not equivalent to ported rom. it makes direct development of custom roms for mi max 2 way easier!

Really waiting for it. But more than this I am waiting for a custom ROM for my phone..
Maybe this is why they didn't release a patch in a while. Hope this update is going to be good.

True!! But we dont have a stable TWRP yet..
And I'm worried to install any Experimental builds as I screwed my last phone by doing so... I lost my IMEI for ever.
Meanwhile I've been trying to build an AOSP PIE rom from source using the kernel from ASUS website on GCP but it fails with an error every time.
Looks like there's lots more to learn.
great news hope the camera improves too.

It seems like there are very few developers who have Z5Z. Most of them would have rather gone for oneplus 6 or the poco F1. I am too coming from oneplus 2 and I am huge flash-o-holic. With 5Z, there is a bit of disappointment on that front. It is really good to know that there are few developers who are working on this device. All the best for your work.

We all know 5z is way too better than poco F1. I have both devices and i personally use 5z. Excpt for hardware, daylight camera and battery poco is just a dissapointment. But since it has a developer support
So people prefer poco over 5z

Yes
From Zenfone 5

Anyone can explain why we doesn't get official support from LineageOS untill now?

I brought this phone and expected it will be the choice of many geeks or developers, and soon to be supported for third party ROM development.
Ended up it is far more disappointing. No support for LineageOS until now and I can't think of the reason. We have open sourced kernel, snapdragon processor, decent spec and predecessor A1 in Lineage's list.
Anyone mind explain or share your opinion?
it sucks

It's because the Poco F1 was released so close after this phone and it was such a good value for the money as well as being heavily pushed by Xiaomi that most of the developers and geeks just opted for that phone instead.

Be patience. The base work is Lineage version 16, then it works, we can get official Lineage.
And one mire things: A2 uses 2 partition. It is very rare, and different method than others.

Not really... It's exactly what Google specified and what Pixel devices use. Obviously you don't see shortage of development on those devices because of this.
It definitely has to do with the lack of developers and development competition caused by a better value phone such as the Poco F1 and that's why everything is taking a lot of time...
Now I heard the news that Google no longer issues update for Android One devices by themselves. Instead the manufacturer will in charge of that. That's why the updates are slow. We need Lineage soon.

Custom Rom and Custom Kernel for Rog phone 2

I have recently moved from xiaomi redmi note 5 pro to Asus Rog phone 2. I have see the fabulous specifications that no other phone are at this price range. I am using phone with extra customisation like installing custom roms and kernels for some special features. I have redmi note 5 pro. I use many coustom roms and kernels on this phones it is the best phone for customisation at price range of 12k but when i purchase rog phone 2. I thought there are more developers are ready to work with the rog phone to push the limit of phone and unlock some extra features or some Kernel to boost up the performance as well as battery or unlock some special features but no developers are interested on this phone.
If i am the developer so i will always try to unlock some extra features with this fabulous rog phone 2 please help

I think the general consensus is that devs are currently waiting for the sources for Android 10 to drop before any serious development starts.
It's been a long time since I've done any sort of rom building, but I plan on at least doing some tinkering when the sources/drivers for 10 are dropped
Thank sir
Please develop some crazy stuff after the source code of android 10 released

Can you please tell what exactly is wrong with this phone and the features and battery that you really need additional developers and custom ROM and custom kernel?
It's a brand new premium device with excellent stable AOSP based ROM, the best specs on the market, you have armory crate that gives you control over the kernel on the same level as a custom kernel and insane battery performance.
So I ask again, why exactly do you need dev support and for what features?
I think you are actually right but more dev more new exciting experiment cause new thing on rog phone 2

Likelihood of having decent development / Custom ROMs?

I've been using OnePlus 3T for almost 3 years now and planning to switch to either Redmi K20 Pro or Realme X2 Pro. The stakes are matched one-to-one pretty much, as far as my requirements are concerned, except for one thing.
XDA activity/ custom ROMs, which I love with OnePlus 3T. Though not an extreme flashaholic, and because I'm ditching OnePlus for its pricing strategy, near-stock OS or the choice of custom OS is my only deal-breaker against X2 Pro.
I do understand that X2 Pro is quite new while the K20 Pro has been in around for a decent while and picked up a more-than-decent choice of custom ROMs (Havoc/Pixel Experience/LOS), I would like to understand how well X2 Pro is being received/adopted by the developer community. If the adoption is decent, I am ready wait a little longer for it and get X2 Pro!
I'm eargerly waiting custom roms too.
I might even consider to make a thread to raise money to send a device to some devs I contacted that might be willing to work on the realme X2 pro.
But for the moment I'm waiting realme to fix the fingerprint issue when unlocking bootloader otherwise no custom roms will be feasible.
I tried GSIs from AOSP, LineageOS and PixelExperience, all of them get me into boot loops. I'm also really hoping for a custom rom to come out soon, ColorOS is very disappointing.

I hope so, though I have the CN version which would probably disappoint again.
