Question How to restore a Google backup on Mi 11 Chinese version? - Xiaomi Mi 11

Hey guys...so..the question from the title. After I setup my Chinese version phone, is there any way to get my previous Google backup on it? Thanks!

Not if you are on a Chinese version ROM (because there not GMS, GooglePlay Services)
What is your ROM version V12.x.x.0.RKB??XM" ? Depending of the two letters (??) you will know.
If you have the old device, make a manual backup (always make both, manual / cloud)
Backup from from your old device
- Copy/Past Folders root : DCIM / Documents / Downloads / Pictures & all personnal folders (like WhatsApp, Signal, Facebook)
- Make a full SMS Backup & Restore local for backup your Call log & SMS/MMS
- Make a backup of your socail apps (WhatsApp, Signal, etc...)
- Verify if your contacts are synced in your Google Account instead in Phone memory or SIM, if not Export à contacts on your Google account
After that, if you want switch your ROM to a Global International (with GooglePlay Services) you will before Unlock your Bootloader (and waiting 168 hours, and unlock erase all your data), flash in Fastboot mode the full Fastboot ROM (if it's a Mi 11 phone !) :
venus_global_images_V12.5.5.0.RKBMIXM_20210624.0000.00_11.0_global_2c40cce7ea.tgz
Extract *tgz with an archiver like 7Zip or WinRAR and extract *.tar for have all the entire extracted ROM
In MiFlash, select extracted folder, and flash... Wait ~8/10 minutes, don't touch / unplug your phone during process.
Tadaaaa

Hey man, since you seem to know whats the deal with all these...maybe you can help me with two more answers.
1. The phone is a Mi11 Pro; the only ROMs on xiaomi.eu are ZIP files., and not Fastboot. How do I install those, cause noone explains that, only the fastboot method.
2. if I applied for Bootloader unlocking via the xiaomi official app, how do I know when the 168 hours are over? Do I get some kind of notification? And after that, do I just connect again to the xiaomi unlocking app and it works?
Thank you very much!

So :
If you have a Mi 11 Pro, be careful, my previous link is not for your model !
1/ If you want flash Xiaomi.eu ROM, there no problem, just flash is by custom recovery (TWRP), not Fastboot (Xiaomi.eu has discontinued Fastboot ROMS until TWRP is available from May 2021). The Mi 11 Pro ROM is the same Mi 11 Ultra ROM.
You have a good Tutorial here : [ROM][MIUI][venus] Xiaomi.eu ROM for Xiaomi MI 11
If you want Root, apply Root on the fly after update, ask me
2/ When you apply asking for Unlocking Bootloader, you want wait 168 hours exactly. If you retry before the 168 hours remaing, waiting time is resetted ! lol
You don't have notification, just redo the same thing the same day, the same hours in a week, i advise to wait 1 or 2 hours more for be sure.
When 168 hours are passed, you will redo the Unlock and it will be granted.
BE CAREFUL, YOU MUST HAVE BACKUP BEFORE UNLOCK BECAUSE UNLOCK ERASE ALL DATA & THERE ANY WARNING / NOTIFICATION FOR THAT.

Wow thank you for everything. So I have few more days to think about it. I am not sure it is worth doing it though, because I dont see any issues with the Chinese ROM so far...except for the google assistant, wich cannot be started. So...I have to decide if I will do it after all. Thanks so much again, I ll ask if I dont manage to do it.

Error installing rom via mi flash / error when updating phone to android 10 global st

I would like a help, so I'm trying to install the rom via mi flash, but not installing the rom, it's in 500sec and nothing to complete the installation, luckily I was able to install via TWRP, however when I try to update via Android OTA 10 I get stuck in the bootloop.
need more info.
You installed Twrp I assume over the stock rom?
if so boot into TWRP and format user data. ( note this wipe completely erase the phone. but you have no choice it must be done. if you have files that you want on the phone, see you can access them via Windows explorer and copy them over to your desktop.
Basic Instructions
FORMAT /data partition (Important Never Ever Wipe System Or Persist!)
Copy our ROM to the internal storage or use external USB drive ( must choose which device to install from in twrp)
Install ROM, and anything else depending on rom if needed such as gapps
Reboot to recovery
Reboot to system and setup

I believe that @Agimax has a flashable mod on his stable page for changing regions, that seems to be a bug with the latest stable version.
Check here, and maybe tried pinging Agimax, if you need assistance.

Another option is flashing the latest Xiaomi.EU, which has every available feature some of which have not yet found their way to the stable build.

What is working:
Everything works perfectly
Bugs
Automatic brightness is not working, (brightness must be adjusted manual for now)
Update to fix the automatic brightness on your device, after installing the ROM, put in the folder SYSTEM-OVERLAY the treble-overlay-xiaomi-redmi 8.apk and set the permission for the apk on 644 and reboot ..... problem solved
the necessary files are at the end of the tutorial
Remember I am not a developer if you are presenting any bugs let us know and you can contact the Havoc team at the links described above
Steps
I am not responsible for any damage caused to your device by not following the steps or negligence at the time of this process, All the steps were carried out and tested on my personal device and are confirmed, My device Redmi 8 3/32 global version, the version that i tested Havoc-OS-v3.5-20200522-Official-arm64-ab.img.xz
First make a backup of all the necessary information in case something goes wrong you can easily recover,Charge the battery at least 80%
All your data will be deleted during the process
the necessary files are at the end of the tutorial
1) Unlock the Bootloader if you have not already done it or do not know how to, follow this post:http://en.miui.com/unlock/
2) Install a custon recovery and flash vbmeta.img together
Note: TWRP is recommended for this process but you should be aware that depending on your type of screen there may be problems (TWRP work fine on Tianma display), so you can also use Orange fox,
Note2: it is recommended not to use Hyper Shell for the installation of vbmeta.img it can cause problems, cmd can be used in the root folder plattform tools
Note3: If you already have the recovery installed and you are only going to flash vbmeta.img it is recommended to redo the full TWRP installation process together at vbmeta.img, restart in the recovery you can see that the encryption of the data is no longer available if you had it, and then boot in the ROM (in my particular case I did not do it first time and then could not put the files necessary for the installation in the internal memory)
Note4: use only This conmand to flash vbmeta.img " fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img" if you disable the secure boot loader with the Disable_Dm-Verity command then when starting in the ROM you will not be able to configure any lock or passsword for your devices.
3)Format data, if it doesn't format the data you will have bootloop
4)Make wipe only to cache, dalvik, system, data
5) Copy all the files to the phone (Havoc-OS-v3.5-20200522-Official-arm64-ab.img you can find it by unpacking the zip, permisiverv5, magisk,Certification Patch.zip, opengapp recommended nano or pico)
6) Install system image to system partition.
7) Install permissiver V5
8) Resize system partition to flash opengapps.
9) Flash Opengapps
10) Flash Certification Patch
11) Reboot
12) Install Magisk (optional if you want rooted your ROM)
the boot process takes 5 to 10 minutes the first boot in case of any problem in any of the stages you can reinstall Miui version fastboot with Mi flash tool and start again
How upgrade (Same Android Version)
1 Make a Wipe on Dalvik and cache only.
2 install the 3.x version system image on the system partition
3 Install permissiver V5
4 Resize system partition to flash opengapps.
5 Flash Opengapps ( if you dont flash the gapps you will have a fc on google apps )
6 Flash Certification Patch
7 Reboot

Yes, as long as you don't use this command " fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img" to disable the secure boot verifier when you install vbmeta.img

the possibility of using VoLTE depends on the following factors:
Your location, the account you have with your operator and the model of your Phone
The operator, operator account, location, and phone model of the person you are calling
Some operators support VoLTE only in certain cities or in certain area codes. Contact your operator for information about your area and your account.
You can verify the VoLTE activation according to your operator using in dialer * # * # 4636 # * # * go to devices information

How to fix no mobile data? There's an x on the signal bars.
volte not working on any gsi
volte works fine on stock rom but not on gsi. this is the only missing feature and reason why many avoid gsi's. I dont understand why can there be a fix for volte. some operators are truly 4g and support only volte like jio in india. any way to fix this?
thanks
P.s : I have not tested this rom but I know it wont work cause its another GSI.

Right now, I'm using This rom.
It's very much customizable , but have some few bugs, and some things should added with it!
Fristly, Internet Speed meter showing speed when i've speed over 100 kbps
Secondly, I don’t find any ringtone changer in this rom ( very much disappointed right now for this problem)
Thirdl, When I was playing PUBG Mobile, sometimes display isn’t rotating
Fourthly , I can't find gaming performance better than MIUI ( It hurted me coz I listened that HavocOs is gaming os and I'm not getting better performance while gaming)
And The big problem is, I can't use any magisk module like Viper4andriod Fx and other.
Except those, I liked this rom?
I think that in future, this problems will no remain??
Thank you
( My English is bad)
I installed it and it works fluently! But there are some issues that needs to be fixed ASAP!
1) The contact app doesn't show contacts saved in SIM card..it only shows contacts which are saved in the device or in gmail.
2) The video recording doesn't work accurately. When I finish recording a video and watch it, it doesn't save the recording accurately. Example- if i record for 30 seconds, the video will be saved as 1 minute video and the first 30 seconds of the video will be a freeze frame.
3) The ambient display (always on display) doesn't work.
4) Fingerprint is slower than stock MIUI and sometime needs to touch twice to unlock the phone.
Please fix these issues as these are some important features.. Besides, everything works just fine!

Question Step by step help to modify Redmi 9T

Hello everyone and my apologies for my terrible English (I did this with the help of Google Translator) since I cannot find reliable information in my language (Spanish).
I just bought a Redmi 9T model M2010J19SG (4/64 GB, Android v10, MIUI v12.0.5, unmodified) and I would like to be able to restore some applications, as they were configured on my previous mobile (Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 Android v4.4.2 , rooted), for this I tried to use Titanium Backup Pro that I have been using for a long time for my backups and restorations but the Redmi does not allow it because I am not a root user on that phone.
Someone could help me, step by step, on how to install the appropriate TWRP on my Redmi 9T, to then be able to install and use the Magisk to root the phone and be able, using the Titanium, to restore those applications that interest me so much.
Thanks
First, unlock the bootloader by following this guide: https://romprovider.com/unlock-bootloader-redmi-9-power/?amp
Wait for 7 days max, and then try going to the fastboot mode and unlock it again. Do not log out your MIUI account on the device otherwise the timer would reset. Feel free to use the device while waiting, you wouldn't want to wait in the fastboot mode, do you? Hahaha jkkk
And then go to this post to download OrangeFox recovery: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...dmi-9-power-redmi-note-9-4g-redmi-9t.4263407/
And here, look for the fastboot instruction, follow that to flash OrangeFox to Redmi (DO NOT do the zip instruction, it wouldnt work on the stock MIUI recovery): https://wiki.orangefox.tech/en/guides/installing_orangefox
STAY ON THE RECOVERY ONCE YOU HAVE FLASHED IT!!!
Do not reboot to the system, if you accidentally do, just reflash the OrangeFox recovery as MIUI have already replaced it with the stock recovery.
Anyways after that, you should have a working recovery, now using a computer go to Magisk github release page, download the version 23 zip file: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
While still on recovery, connect your Redmi 9T to the computer using cable, it will show up as MTP device. Just copy over the magisk file I mentioned to the Redmi. I forgot you can actually download this and copy before unlocking your bootloader so you won't have to later.
Locate the magisk file in OrangeFox and then flash it. VOILA you're done! Reboot to system.
==
BACKUP YOUR FILES AND APP DATA!!! In case something goes wrong. I do not guarantee this would work. Feel free to get help though...
To uninstall magisk, duplicate the magisk zip then rename it to uninstall.zip - flash in the recovery as usual.
I know a simple thing but, use a pin code or a password so you would be able to unlock the /data partition in OrangeFox. You would see the unlock screen right away after booting to the recovery, just enter your code or password and you're good to go.
Sorry that no one answered you, i don't know perhaps right now you could have already figured out how to, but nonetheless this would be a reference to those who are about to do the same thing as you wanted.
I forgot you said TWRP, im sorry.
Anyway the TWRP link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-3-5-a10-twrp-unnoficial-for-lime-redmi9t-beta.4233045/
The general steps are more or less the same. That post also contains instructions how to flash TWRP. Feel free to ask questions if you need help.
AJPuzonThank you, thank you and thank you very much for the explanation. I will follow your recommendations and when I finish I will report the results.
Also gonna put this here while I still remember:
It's very likely that the phone will fail SafetyNet once Magisk is installed. Hence no banking apps will work and you cant install apps that require Safetynet (they will be hidden) So here's what I did on mine to pass it again:
1. Go to Magisk settings (should be at the top right cog icon), turn on MagiskHide.
Now go back, tap the shield icon below (Superuser requests) MagiskHide is now visible, go to that. Tap Google Services and it will expand, check all the additional items under it.
- do this for all the other google apps that you have installed.
2. Go to Magisk settings again and the turn on Hide Magisk. Name it to whatever you want. Reopen Magisk using the new program name that you assigned it to. Reboot.
3. And then go ahead and clear the App Data of both Google Play Services and Google Play Store. Reboot
Additional steps for custom roms:
1. Go to modules (4th option below) and then install MagiskHide Props Config. Now reboot.
2. Go to Play Store and then install a terminal application. (Material Terminal is what I use in this case).
3. Open the terminal app, type props then press enter, after follow the instructions to find your device in the list, change your device fingerprint to that. Reboot once done.
4. Again clear the app data of Google Play Services and Google Play Store, and reboot.

Annoyed with Redmi 9 censorship

Hi, I'm new here and signed up to ask help from this community. It's related to the new Xiaomi MIUI 12.5.1 update which totally blocks any Google products, even with a VPN.
I used Google installer (English and different Chinese versions) but still cannot use Google products anymore even when I can install.
This blocks YouTube app, Tinder, and other apps which needs location info from Google Services to be running properly.
Everything was working well until July this year but I no longer can use a work around and tried many things, including some posts in this community and YouTube. Even with google framework, play and services installed, I cannot add an account to the phone cuz it freezes when adding (any) account.
Installed and reinstalled Google products, deleted cache, reinstalled again etc etc, all the basics. Also tried MIUI optimization on and off on developers option but not there yet.
Redmi9, android 11, octacore max2, 4GB ram, model m2004j19c, based in China mainland (important).
I'd like to ask you what you advise. Thank you

Hi, I'm new here and signups to try to ask help of the community related to the new Xiaomi MIUI 12.5.1 update which totally blocks any Google products, even with a VPN.
I used Google installer (English and different Chinese versions) and cannot use Google products anymore even when I can install.
This blocked YouTube app, Tinder, and other apps which needs location info from Google Services to be running properly.

This is xiaomi's shi**y policy. Now you basically have a fancy, glowing paperweight. You still can recover it by flashing, or installing, a custom rom (custom operating system).
Do not attempt to install a lower version of stock MIUI as that will turn it into a hard paperweight, that does not even turn on.
Well flash a custom rom.
Brief steps:
1. Unlock bootloader with mi unlock.
2. Install sdk platform tools
SDK Platform Tools release notes | Android Studio | Android Developers
Android SDK Platform-Tools is a component for the Android SDK.
developer.android.com
Install usb drivers
3. Right click in the sdk platform tools (with fastboot.exe, adb.exe, etc) and select open command prompt (or powershell) here.
Search for a vbmeta.img online. Any should work.
Execute
fastboot --disable-vertification --disable-verity C:\path-to-vbmeta.img.
Add '.\' in front if it failed.
3. Flash TWRP with command
Fastboot flash recovery C:\path-to-twrp.img
Fastboot reboot
Your phone will be in twrp.
4. Move a custom rom, from the xda forum of your phone, into your phone internal storage via usb.
5. Wipe> factory reset
Flash> your custom rom
Flash google apps from www.opengapps.com
Reboot
Done

Be extra careful. Your phone is likely to get into this MIUI can't be installed on this device. Do NOT relock your bootloader or your phone is toast.

How To Guide [INSTRUCTION] How to make backup, restore TWRP on MIUI (error 255, fork etc)

Hi,
We have MIUI based on A12,
Some of You want to make NAND backup on A11, but always data backup make error like: fork, error 255 etc.. There is nice way to fix it.
Instuction below to make NAND backup correctly:
1) On miui setting remove second space, remove second user
2) boot into twrp
3) run script: RMDAD_v0.0.1.zip
4) go to console on TWRP, write on it: rm /data/extm -Rf
5) make succefully backup (data partition)
To restore from A12 to A11:
1) flash xioami eu fastboot A11 rom with format https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=2188818919693786473
2) fully boot
3) go to twrp, flash xiaomi eu new rom (stable or beta what U use before)
4) IMPORTANT!!!!! fully boot, set password - screenlock!
5) go to twrp, copy your TWRP backup to phone from computer, restore it
6) boot fully
7) reboot again
8) everythin is ok (miui backup data partition dont has icos size and font size set etc, all apps etc come back)

Have a nice day
Hello and thank you for this guide. Just a quick question : when you say "set password - screenlock!", should it be the same as before, or not necessarily ?
And also : why did you not put the "rm /data/extm -Rf" in the RMDAD script ?
I've been trying for several days now to backup my currently running MIUI to try something different and be able to get back quickly to something stable, but no luck for now...
I could addtrur, password whatever
Sorry I didn't cet you here...
Hello, I tried your solution, my backup was a bit long but successful, but the restore was a failure.
In fact on the first boot after restore, I always stay on the Mi logo and black screen with the dots at the bottom...
I'm on Redmi Note 10 Pro on MIUI 13 (Android 12) and I only restore data partition.
Can you help ?
