Samsung s20 FE 5G Verizon - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

Is worth getting verzion locked phone for free.Buti still got unlocked pixel 4 XL not sure if worth upgrade to 5g?

I'm not 100% on 5G coverage in the USA, but in my experience switching back from S20 FE 5G to Pixel 4, 5G has made no difference. Save your money and stick to 4G.

Verizon use mmwave 5G which will give you blazing, near gigabit speeds but also be blocked very easily by buildings and... passing flocks of birds, jk.
if you don't live in a major city it would be useless as I understand it.

Did T-Mobile shut down 5G access for Sprint S10 5G phones today???

Sounds like T-Mobile shut down 5G access for Sprint S10 5G phones today (4/21), and I'm no longer getting 5G access/speeds in KC. I'll be damned if I'm going to keep paying 5G phone and plan prices for these really lame 4G speeds.
Which is worse? Only getting 4G speeds because T-Mobile bricked the 5G on your Sprint 5G phone, or getting Coronavirus from 5G? lol
"On April 21, 2020, T-Mobile officially started customer side changes after the merger, the first change being network related. They officially launched their 2.5GHz 5G NR network using the spectrum they acquired from the merger in Philadelphia, shutting down the network to Sprint subscribers. They also stated that wherever Sprint's 2.5GHz network is live: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, and Washington, DC; they intend to switch to T-Mobile brand (NY being next) and cut off Sprint's subscribers access to said network. The only exception to this is if the Sprint subscriber has the Samsung Galaxy S20, for which they will have full access to the T-Mobile branded 5G network without having to switch to a T-Mobile device. T-Mobile did state that for now, legacy Sprint customers using first gen 5G devices can still access the network until it's switched over using their current 5G devices, and once the switch happens these devices will just switch over to only using 4G LTE. They did state these customers will have an "incentive deal" to switch over to a T-Mobile branded 5G device when these switches occur."

Update to add: I was able to move location and get 5G access/speed tonight. So looks like my S10 5G still has 5G access in KC, but no idea for how long (until T-Mobile turns it off).
Apparently true. T-Mobile is bricking the 5G part of your Sprint S10 5G phone.
"Sprint customers with first gen 5G phones like the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G will continue to have access to Sprint’s 5G network that’s live in nine metro areas: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, and Washington, DC. But Karri Kuoppamaki, T-Mobile’s vice president of radio network technology, tells PCMag that those phones will become 4G devices as T-Mobile takes over the 5G airwaves. T-Mo added that Sprint customers with those devices will get a deal to help them move to new T-Mobile 5G phones."

If you got uw then you were practically standing on top of it. I've seen 5g on my phone but no huge boost in speed. I get about 65Mbps d/l and 12 u/l.
I have a business account with over 700 lines with verizon and had an in-depth conversation about 5g with my rep as I didn't want employees asking for 5g phone because they hear it was so much faster. I'm glad I did as it is not ready yet for everyone.
She mentioned that ultra is not available in all areas as of now and that standard 5g is being run on top of the LTE network. She did say that standard 5g is a little faster than LTE.
This being said when I see 5g I am seeing up to 150 up and 20 down.
They needed to compete with Tmob and att since they are all doing the same thing and put it on top of LTE until they can have ultra 5g in most areas.
I hope this is helpful info.
Got the update today on my Verizon pixel 5 and I now have 5G Nationwide sure hope the battery life stays the same

I am on AT&T and I get the "5Ge" instead of LTE, which is basically LTE Enhanced.

Question Canadian S21 ultra, in the UK (SIGNAL ISSUES)

So I got a s21 ultra imported from Canada for the Snapdragon processor - it has a few issues , eg it has Canadian Samsung pay which means I can't get the samsung card and the health app is Canadian and won't sync with my UK watches metrics for blood pressure etc because they are FDA cleared in Canada, but the one issue that seems to bug me the most is that the 5g and 4g bands in Canada are different to the UK, so the outdoor speed/signal is significantly worse than it was on my old OnePlus 6T - does anyone know if there are any solutions to this?
You could use ODIN to flash the U1 series software on (US Carrier unlocked); that would help for 4G possible but 5G, you are SOL (until Samsung makes a phone with all the 5G frequencies.. s22 ultra I hope).
I have the W series here in Canada but run the U (Carrier) sometimes and the U1 (Unlocked) 99% of the time.

General Why doesnt anyone ever talk about the issue of radio bands across S21 range (and all Samsung)?

So I have the s21 ultra. Love it and hate it as only a fanatic can. Have owned every Note, and am eagerly awaiting the s22 ultra. I spend time in Europe and the US and it drives me crazy that there is no version of the device that has the correct 5G and LTE bands for both areas. I have the sm-G9980 (HK snapdragon) which is dual sim and gives me 5G in Europe... but not in the US. All the 'U' versions have the US 5G (of course) ... but don't have the correct 5G bands for Europe. The 'B' is good for Europe but not the US 5G. The list goes on. It's not an exynos v snapdragon issue as the 'B' (exynos) and the '0' (snapdragon) have the same bands.
Meantime ALL Apple devices and the new pixel 6 have all the 4G and 5G bands for both areas (and I bet there are other brands that do too). I bought, first the 13 pro and then the Pixel6 pro, hoping I could adapt because connectivity is high on my needs and these devices are flagship and should be alternatives, and I really tried to adapt to them. But I returned both as I'm just not an apple person (and let's face it the devices have the same feel for the last few years), and the pixel 6 pro, which is nice, is just too stock for me, and it lacks the 'refined over the years' software of Samsung (and I just can't find a better email or, to a lesser extent, calendar app than Samsung's).
It is incredibly frustrating.
Surely Samsung can also create a global unlocked version with all the global 4G and 5G bands? I can't be the only one wanting this, or am I?
Because carriers, and because Spectrum licences are expensive.
But that's not true : even Apple doesn't have the same bands between the US and the rest of the world.
>> Even Apple (for the iPhone 13 Pro Max) has TWO modem versions, and the iPhone US model is the only one with mmWave (the "best" 5G).
Apple doesn't makes "carrier" versions of their phones - A verizon iPhone is absolutely the same as a tmobile iPhone, so by including more bands, they can move stock around the world and just add the box in the country it will be sold without excess stock when no one is buying a verizon iPhone 12 after the iPhone 13 is out - they ship it to Africa or India and boom, that Verizon US iPhone is now on a different continent.
Apple also makes cheaper phones with higher margins (iPhone 13 Pro Max 256 Gb with only 3x telephoto = 1400$, S21 Ultra 256 Gb with 3x AND 10x telephoto = 1100$) so spending 1$ more per phone on spectrum licences to avoid creating different models is a complete win.
Because of carriers, most Android manufacturers have 3 versions (US, Global, China) with different bands supported, sometimes different modems, even different antennas.
Just to be clear, I haven't heard of anyone "unlocking bands" as it could be done 11 years ago (even rooted etc). It is now much more secure (modem firmware) and most model are missing MMwave antennas anyway.
TLDR - not true, even Apple has mmWave only on US versions. However iPhones have the largest bands supported on average.
Website kimovil has a really good band comparator, you can identify 5G bands in the US and in Europe and find a phone that supports both. Only the US Oneplus 9 Pro seems to do it as of now.
Thanks for the response. I will check out kimovil. It makes sense why the Pixel would have the bands too.
Life is about compromise!

Question Vivo X70 Pro + Question?

Does this phone comes in a 4G version and 5G version?
I recently purchase the one with FunTouch OS, but phone does not shows 5G like my Oneplus 10 Pro.
Box does not shows 5G either..
Thanks,
Do you have an operator contract with 5G data included?

I'm in the USA with Tmobile and every plan includes 5g as long as you have the phone with 5G

My origin os version works fine on tmobile 5g although I usually leave that off since 4g gives me better speeds and battery life in my area. The 5g bands on the vivo x70 pro+ are only n5, n41. It's missing bands n66, and n71 which are more common in the US and tmobile.
You could try and go into the settings and reset network settings and that could possibly fix the issue and give you 5g but if you still can't get 5g after that then your area may be using bands n66, and n71 which the x70 pro+ is missing.
