Can you make fingerprint sensor work only after power button push? - Sony Xperia 10 II Questions & Answers

This "feature" have bugged me since I've bought thes phone

I have Sony Xperia 10 IV with same "feature". When I try to pick up phone from pocket It is trying to verify & unlock without press and as a result many times it fails to unlock many times and force me to wait 10 seconds. It is annoying. I contacted to Sony support. I propose you to contact them, as I think if they will receive many similar requests they will have to look on this

Turn off WM6 on TyTn II

I finally found a power utility to restart the device via on screen selection that looks good too. However, one other function I need it to do is shut down without having to press the side button for 5 seconds and then confirm with on screen touch.
I've read in other theads that ShutXP is meant to fully switch off the device but on my v1615 it simply switches the display off (locks the screen etc, just as if the power button was depressed momentarily).
Is there a bug with the v1615 (Vodafone branded TyTn II/Kaiser) and this tool? Does anyone else have a Kaiser and the ShutXP tool and experience this issue? Perhaps I have something else installed which is causing it not to shutdown properly??
I've noticed a DWORD registry entry for ShutXP in HKLM\Software\PPCSpft\psShutXP\VideoPowerOff which has a default value of 0. Setting this to 1 doesn't seem to make a difference to any of the features.
OK, I'll ask it in a slightly different way as I've done a little more searching around and cannot find any tools to do this...
How do you switch off the TyTn II without pressing the side power button?
i.e. have a shortcut in the HTC Launcher which powers down the device similar to psShutXP but not just to sleep??
I'm talking about completely switching the device off - not just putting it to sleep. Pressing the power button for more than 4 seconds allows you to switch the device off, completely.
PS shutxp
Have you heard of PSShutXP??
Have used it before... does what you desrcibe...

PsShutXP is not able to do that. I think it isn't even possible with any software. (AFAIK)
Thanks johanromijn, couldn't think of any other way of making it any more clearer...
I've read somewhere about a command prompt interface on the ppc which can emulate many functions. Do you know about this? I'm sure it could do many power functions but I can't for the life of me find the same one I read about.
Pressing the button simply sends a software command so perhaps it can be captured and saved to a shortcut on the touch screen. I could understand the difficulty if it were a hardware switch! Unfortunatly, the button capture software I've used doesn't register the button press and the device just warns me about loosing any unsaved data before powering off - screen capture attached.
I just don't want to waste battery unnecessarily over night or elsewhere when the device isn't required to be on.
Anyone got any suggestions??

Given that you'd normally need to press the power button to get it out of powersaving mode before doing any screen tapping anyway, other than the fact shutting the device down takes 5 seconds more, I don't see any advantage to having a fully screen tap method of powering off. In fact, to the contrary, it may result in unwanted accidental shutdowns eg when putting the device in pockets etc when the screen may accidentally be touched/tapped in the wrong place if not put into powersaving mode first.
Install 888PowerOff it will put a shortcut that you can place where you want in the start menu etc, still asks for verification but still faster than power button
Maybe you should just hire someone to do the work for you. Powering the phone off by holding a button is very hard work.
Lots of reasons
I'ts not as if you can't set the attribute of the shortcut to hidden and call it, to schedule it, or in my case, I'd like to use PhoneAlarm to trigger it when to power gets down to 10%, still allowing me to make outbound calls, that is if I'm not obsessively watching my battery while people I don't really need to talk to are calling me.
Not to mention with WinMo, I'm always telling people 'just hang on.' I can't even power down as fast as they can.
If I assign it to a long-press on another hardware key I can just reach in my pocket and press; I don't have to dig the thing out, hold the button for what on my unit comes out to 7 sec, tap, and put the thing back. Discretion is always nice.
I'd really prefer to skip the whole PowerOffWarning.exe/ShutXP bit, and just power off. My phone is not my heart, it can stop for a few minues once in a while.
Power off HTC TyTN II by software
I have the same question with my HTC TyTn II and have researched it for a few weeks now; even contacted HTC technical support - but they did not an answer. I did find a software that will fully power down the device (XdaShutdown).
But since I have had other HTC smartphones, Blacberry devices, etc., that would definitely fully power-off (not just the screen or go into Standby mode, etc.) - what I was really looking for is an app that would power-off the device at a scheduled time. Used to have a program called CTScheduler which did this on my former Smartphone (WM5). But this app does not seem to work on WM6.
If most Smartphones and Blackberry devices can do (either by 3rd party app or within the device itself...) scheduled power-off-- why can't some of these HTC Pocket PC devices be made to do same?

Diamond unlocks itself, hardware problem?

Basically I had a look about here and can't see anyone else with the same issue.
I've not long had the phone and the other night I had a call quite late saying I'd been phoning them 5 times. I'd locked my phone but when I looked at it it was awake and unlocked.
I can lock my phone (hold down the end call key) but with a bit of movement to the phone it brings up the unlock screen and unlocks itself.
This also happens if I lock the phone and turn off the screen with the power button. After a little shake about the phone will turn on and unlock itself.
You can imagine the problems this can cause whilst in my pocket.
I've not messed with the firmware yet or even any registry entries, it's as it was from HTC.
I am having this same issue with mine. I hold down the End key for a few seconds to lock, it locks successfully, but if I move my finger a bit and touch any other part of the surface it unlocks almost instantly. Sometimes the lock remains, but it's more likely that it will get unlocked.
I tried using TouchLockPro, but that didn't seem to help me much (it seems like it's not even functioning, actually). I'm running A.Z.T.O.R. V7 WWE ROM.

Have you tried going to settings then hitting "key lock". On the screen that comes up check the first option "lock all buttons except power button".
Works fine for me - when I switch off screen using power button everything is locked (buttons and screen) until I hit power button again or I get an incoming call.
Mine is set to that, but it doesn't seem to have much effect.
Sometimes I will hit the power button to shut the screen off and later when I pull it out of my pocket the screen is on and something (e.g. Calendar, System Time, etc) is open. During the period it was in my pocket I received no calls or texts.
When I try to hold the end key to lock the phone, it will lock it for ~1 second and then automatically unlock it. Doing it a second or third time will usually get a lock that "sticks" (at least for a while).
There has to be a good solution for this out there, but I've tried PocketShield and TouchLockPro without luck.

Diamond unlocks itself
I have this problem as well. I went to a meeting, locked my phone and it made 20 calls to my friend abroad, so I am really pissed, it happened before but I thought it was because it got knocked in my handbag.- Please help
Also my battery life has depreciated in a big way, at first 24 hours , 4 months later I'm lucky if it's lasting 6 hours and that's without making a call. I've turned of wi-fi, 3G etc. What is happening
Use sensorlock its great if you set it to unlock when you take the stylus out and relock when u slide it back in

TouchLockPro should just work. In post #5 alternatives are mentioned (and also why the built-in Windows Mobile lock is not a solution for your problem)!

[Q] Phone working, but showing nothing on screen

Hello there.
I have a brand new XT 1068 (two month of use). It is as received from the shop (no root or anything).
Was using normally, and suddenly began to fail. First, it didn't responded when trying to use pattern unblocking. Then the screen turned black. Tried to reset pressing the power button for 10 seconds, but the screen just lights a bit (backlit?), buzzes and nothing else.
The phone can received calls, messages, and even be controlled remotely trough Google's Android Device Manager. Touch screem seems to work, as i can answer calls by sliding center to right.
Don't know what to do. Tried the "120 seconds pressing the power button", with no success. Maybe I should try "Erase" though Google's Android Device Manager?
Thanks in advance

I think your display is needs to be replaced.
I had the same issue but instead of black it first showed coloured lines and then went blank.
I believe I had got a defective phone but got it repaired under warranty this week.

Power button not always working

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I got my device in December 2017, and the power button has been having problems for a few months now.
When I press it to wake the phone, many times I need 2 or 3 presses to get it to work. Same when locking the phone. Sometimes I need to try 2-3 times until I get a screenshot (I'm using the shutdown/restart menu screenshot button, which appears when you long-press the power button) because the phone registers the long-press as two separate presses, so it locks and wakes the device on the lock screen, making me unlock and try again.
I've searched online, found many people having problems with the Redmi Note 4, which is built similarly as our Redmi 4x, but found nothing really interesting.
Pressing harder doesn't seem to help. I opened the phone and stuck a little piece of paper on the flex to help it register better, but it actually worked worse than before. I'm out of ideas.
Since I live in a different country now, I have no warranty here and don't want to pay a lot for this.
Any ideas, any similar experiences?
Thanks!

P20 Pro - Disable instant locking by power button

hi, please can someone advise a way I can disable the power key from instantly locking my phone? So it stays unlocked for at least few minutes if this is possible. Where can I view options for this?
Using the Huawei P20 Pro, model CLT-L09.
Thanks
Overwhelming response, thanks everyone.
I don't think there is a real solution for that because you would need to change the way the Lockscreen ist working.
Why would you want that anyways? The fingerprint reader is quick enough to not be bothered by the unlock time
I don't think that is possible and I don't think it makes sense for companies to implement a feature like this.
If I understand this correctly, what you want to achieve is when you press power button, you want your phone to stay unlocked for few minutes and after that get locked? If so, just set screen sleep time on 5-10 minutes.. What's the problem.
On my LG V20 (Android 8.0) there is an option for screen lock timeout. U can set how long the phone should wait to lock the phone after the screen time out. Also have option for pressing power button should lock the phone instantly or not. (check the attached pic). But to my surprise, can't seem to find that option in P20 Pro.
Personally I'm ok with power button instantly locking the phone. But for those who are quite annoyed with it, the best option is to turn-on the smart unlock and see what is best suitable way to keep your phone remaining unlock.

My phone is already set to sleep 5 minutes after being inactive. So it should stay unlocked but the power key instantly locks it no matter how long it's been unlocked.
I used to have Samsung phones and on all of them I owned you were able to disable instantly locking your phone with the power key. I guess it's not built in via Huaweii, I ended up enabling facial recognition to save time.
Thank you and everyone for your replies much appreciated.
