+ a microSD card. Copy ROM, Gapps, (Magisk root) and Aurora Store on microSD card (FAT32 format) and insert it in phone.
+ Charge phone to 100%
2) BACKUP DATA
Install Samsung drivers (you unzipped earlier).
Then plug phone to PC in File transfer mode.
Collect all .jpg or .mp4
Use app like Backupyourmobile and SMS backup & Restore to backup texts, contacts, etc.
Check that backup is located on microSD card.
Then copy the backup on your PC.
Now connect to Wi-Fi, Settings > About device > Download updates manually (wait during process) > The latest updates have already been installed.
Try another SIM card from another provider to make sure you are not SIMlocked.
3) FLASH TWRP 3.6 RECOVERY
Shut down phone.
Boot in Download Mode : hold Home + Power + Volume- until you see Warning's screen and release all buttons.
Confirm access to Download mode by pressing Volume+.
Connect phone in USB, wait during bootloader drivers installation.
Then launch Odin.exe (included in my archive) and wait for Odin indicator ID:COM to become blue.
In options: Verify re-partition and Auto Reboot are NOT ticked while F. Reset Time is ticked.
In Files > PDA > select twrp-3.6.0_9-0-klte.img.tar
### Or klteduos
### Warranty will be Void after next click ###
Click Start.
When Success green message appears, hold Power button for 10 seconds to shutdown phone.
4) BACKUP IMEI PARTITION AND SYSTEM (Nandroid backup)
Boot in Recovery Mode: Hold Home + Power + Volume+ until you see Samsung's logo then release and wait a few seconds for TWRP recovery to boot.
Recovery asks for Keep System Read Only ? > Swipe to Allow Modifications.
Go to Backup > you can select the partitions you want to save.
Select at least EFS partition to backup your IMEI. If a flash fails and partition is damaged you will still be able to restore this partition and use the phone.
If IMEI is lost during a flash, phone won't be able to reach cellphone networks.
I prefer to backup Modem, Boot, System and EFS.
Now type Select Storage > Select Micro SD card and confirm with OK
Now Swipe to Backup and wait during process.
Go to Home screen and continue with next chapter.
5) FORMAT PARTITIONS
Go to Wipe > Format Data
Type yes and confirm with bottom right icon.
Go to Wipe > Advanced wipe,
select Dalvik, System, Data, Internal Storage (if you really made a backup from step 2), Cache, then Swipe to Wipe,
then back.
### Don't select microSD or you will lose your backup
6) FLASH ROM, GAPPS and MAGISK ROOT
Go back to TWRP Home menu. Then tap on Install > choose lineage*.zip,
(Optional) then Add more Zips > Magisk*.zip,
### If you don't see the files, tap on Select Storage and make sure Micro SDCard is active.
then Swipe to confirm Flash.
Go to Reboot > Recovery.
Back to Install > gapps*.zip.
Then tap Wipe cache/dalvik, swipe to confirm,
then Reboot System.
Wait for the phone to boot during 5 minutes.
### Don't connect to your Google account before setting up root.
7) EXTRA
Back to Android, open the Settings menu > About Phone.
Tap on the "Build number" entry seven times. You are notified that developer settings are now active.
Go to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer options,
Set Animations and transition scales to x 0,5.
If Netflix or Disney+ are not accessible from the Play Store, use Aurora Store (available in my pack).
### If you experience too many problems, uninstall Magisk from the app.
8) STORE YOUR BACKUP IN A SAFE PLACE
Connect phone or microSD to PC.
Open microSD folder and backup TWRP folder to a safe place.
Youe /efs partition is now safe (+/- other partitions if you need to fix some crashes)
Enjoy,
djibe

Hi thank you for your response and Thank you for the detailed information. I was able to get a Samsung Galaxy S5 - SM-G900W8 to Android 11. I wasn't able to root it, but I think okay without rooting. I mainly needed a newer OS on this device to a few apps compatibility.
When I first looked into upgrading the OS, I got stuck in trying to unlock the boot loader as Fastboot just wasn't seeing the device. ADB would see it, but fastboot commands wouldn't work. I then came across this post and gave it a shot which worked out for me.
Being a newbie and getting to this stage with all your help...feels great!...
Thank you all!

Hi,
Samsung devices are great because of Download mode. You nearly cannot hard brick it.
With Samsung, you don't need fastboot and adb things.
Just use Odin and TWRP

How to root Lenovo k3 note?

Hello,
Sorry if this question is asked before, I did search actually in the forum, but couldn't find anything clear.
I got a lenovo k3 note, but it has some annoying apps installed which may be infected.
Apps such:
I love wallpaper
Caller ID
Twitter
MaxxAudio
Clean Master
DU battery saver
Browser (it seems there are two installed)
probably more....
All these apps are installed in the system so they can not be uninstalled directly. so rooting is a must in this case I guess (i'm newbie in these things)
So the main question is how can this phone be rooted?
Thanks in advance.
Lenovo K3 Note
I am also facing same problem. Any help?
It is wired that I can not disable any pre-installed app. Is this an issue in Android 5.0? Can someone please help?
It is easy to root this wonderful smartphone :
1/ Go here and download the CWM recovery v6.0.5.1 : http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mguuByg
2/ Flash it with SPFlashTool. Important : you must to check the option "DA DL All with Checksum" otherwise it will not boot!
3/ root : reboot to CWM recovery and install the supersu update zip : https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/
4/ Gapps: reboot to CWM recovery and install google gapps 5.0 minimal : http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-google-apps-minimal-edition-t2943330
Here where you can find the last official roms : http://www.vibeui.com/vibeui/rom?key=k3 note
After flashing an official rom, you have to redo all those steps.
I don't think the phone will be rooted in that way. I did red that before. I do have access to CWM, in Chinese language unfortunately, but the phone is not rooted.
I root it this way many times
The recovery I give you is in English and china, you must choose your language at the beginning.

Hi,
I rooted my Lenovo K3 Note just yesterday (received it on tuesday) and had the same problem (Twitter + User Experience with viruses [checked with ESET] ).
This topic helped me quite a lot, but I still had some trouble flashing the phone.
If it can help you, here is a link to what I did : chinasmartphonereview.com/lenovo-lemo-k3-note-recovery-google-service/
Since I had to tweak the process a bit, here is what I did :
Download MT6752 Flash Tool and MT6752 USB Driver (see link above)
Install USB Driver and reboot PC (just to be sure)
Unzip Flash tool and choose flash_tool.exe
Run Flash Tool, Option – Download – “DA DL All with Checksum” must be ticked on
Click Scatter-loading-Choose MT6752_Scatter (CWM recovery folder)
Tick the Recovery (if it's not already ticked)
Turn off Phone and Remove Battery, Remove SD-Card, SIM Card
Plug-in USB Cable to PC (USB Port) – Phone to PC
Press POWER for a couple of seconds
Choose Download and Click Download (Flash tool)
Reinsert Battery
If Unsuccessful (Red Bar) – repeat from step Turn off Phone and Remove Battery, Remove SD-Card, SIM Card
Once it was done, I installed SuperSU and an app to remove those troublesome viruses (for example : "Easy Uninstaller" on the play store).
Hope it helps...
Still, many thanks to dreambo

I had to try several times in order to successfully do it.
I don't know if it changes anything but, did you activate the "USB Debugging" ? I activated it on my last try...
My main problem was linked to the drivers : my computer had a hard time using the right ones (always checking Windows Update, had to disable it).
When it worked, I just pressed the power button, released it, inserted the battery and clicked "Download" in the next 5 sec. My computer used the right drivers, everything went smoothly (CMW installed in less than 5 sec with a big green symbol that I was REALLY happy to see).
If it doesn't trigger in the first 10sec, it failed : you can unplug your USB, shutdown your phone, remove the battery and repeat the process (press the power button, release it, plug the USB cable, insert battery, press Download).
Just keep an eye on your drivers to make sure Windows is using the ones you have installed...
Hope it helps...

Done.
Sorry for asking what has already been asked, but just to clarify (because I have followed the above steps),
Do I insert the battery after I press download, or after it's finished? Neither seems to work. I insert the battery after pressing download, and get the battery meter showing on the screen and some chinese writing. If I press the screen, the phone boots up?
Does quick/fast boot need to be turned off?
How do I tell the flash program which drivers to use?
If I'm waiting a few minutes after each try, is that long enough?
EDIT: Got it working on a different PC. Having the same issue as XPSrobs now. Can't install Superuser and root check is saying it's not rooted, however CWM is installed.
EDIT: re-read the post from dreambo on the first page:

It seems that you have not install the drivers (VCOM drivers, it is special drivers that works only with SPFlashTool).
The drivers is the step the more important and more difficult
The drivers enter in action only if, the phone is completely off and then we plug it to the USB port.
Some times we have to do exactly those steps :
0- install correctly the drivers, if not already done.
1- unplug the phone from USB
2- turn completely off the phone
3- extract the battery from the phone (for me and my lenovo k3 note this step is not necessary, no need also to extract SIM or SDCARD)
4- Press the download button in SPFlashTool
5- plug the phone to USB
6- place the battery in the phone.
Immediately after this last step, the phone is detected by SPFlashTool, even if it is turned off !
It must always works, if not it's a drivers issue! (there is many tutorials to install drivers for SPFlashTool)
not forget also to get the latest version off SPFlashTool, because the MT6752 is a recent SOC : see here http://mtk2000.ucoz.ru/load/soft/soft_mtk/sp_flash_tool/5-1-0-14
It does seem to have worked now, the program was doing stuff and I got a message with 'download succeeded' and a big green checkmark.
However, it still doesn't seem to be rooted, nor can I find a way to boot into recovery. I'm probably being a big blithering idiot, but I can't find any mistakes I made and I did all the described steps.
Any suggestions?
anyone try this guide? it looks much simpler
http://www.how-to-root.club/2015/04/lenovo-k3-note-7147.html
or someon try "RootGenius.exe" app ? it worked for me on coolpad f1 and on some other chinese phones.

I agree, it doesn't look very legit.
I'm still having no luck using the method on here. I think Dreambo is right, and that I may just have an issue with drivers, although I can't quite figure out what I'm missing.

Tried to flash firmware, caused an error.

I have the SM-T810 variant and my android version is 5.1.1. I was trying to flash my first custom rom,OptimalRom and recieved an error when I tried to flash the firmware that the creator linked to in the instructions. Now my device is stuck on a blue screen that says "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch PC software." I tried the smart switch, but my device won't show up. So, I gave up on recovery and decided to do a factory reset, but I can't because I can't access the TWRP from this screen with home+power+volume up. However, I can get to the odin download screen and tried flashing the same firmware again, but it doesn't work.
Is there any way to get out of this screen or have I permanently bricked my device?
No your not bricked forever and I'll show you how to fix it, first download the android 5.1.1 twrp from HERE(http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-7-x-lollipop-5-1-1-t3205686) and make sure you have the optimalkernal and optimalrom on your sdcard or a external sd card before doing this.
1. Flash the TWRP 5.1.1 for your device with odin on the "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch PC software." screen Have Auto reboot and F. Reset Time checked. NOT RE-PARTITION OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE!
2. let the device reboot and when the screen goes onto the samsung logo hold down the Power + Volume Down until the screen goes black, Then quickly switch to Home + Volume Up + Power and let TWRP boot up.
3. once TWRP boots up it should say that something is in Read-only mode just swipe and override permissions
4. Go into install and Find the OptimalRom and OptimalKernal Packages
5. Select OptimalRom FIRST and click Add more zips, then go to OptimalKernal and Swipe to confirm flash.
6. After the flash is done then there will be a option to wipe cache/dalvik do that.
7. Click the reboot.
8. you will come onto the samsung boot up screen with NO SOUND *hint hint*
9. It will take a while to boot up so please let it take its time.
10. tada! you now have OptimalRom installed and your device not bricked!
I did this on my tab s2 9.7" and it worked perfectly should work on yours to.
You may have a dirty install on your device (with all your apps from stock) so you can go into Twrp and do a wipe to clean all that out.
Hope I helped!

I have the Nook 8" and this write up helped a lot. Got my unit up and running again, thanks.
But I've also tried to get it back to the original (or more precisely stock 710) and keep running into issues. I'm currently rooted and have twrp, the OptimalKernal and ROM installed. I think my problem is order of steps and which utility I should be using for each (ODIN or twrp install).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll give it a try, but will it go back to Nook stock or Tab S2 stock? I'm looking to get to Tab S2 stock.
And the answer is -----
Straight Tab S2 :highfive:
Hi guys, I have the same issue. I have a T715Y model i purchased and it was not my language in there. So i tried to flash a stock rom from T715 ( i made it by mistake i didn't see the Y letter first) model but I have an error "occurend while updating the device software. Use the Emergency Recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software" but it doesn't work with this software even with kies.
I just want to go stock but I don't know from witch country my tab s2 is provided. I say that because I downloaded a stock rom from sammobile for T715Y model from either the Malaysia or Thailand one's but I have a Failed Red Flag from odin.
Can Anyone help me. My TAC: 353403 and FAC: 07 Whitch country's T715Y model stock rom do I choose.
Thanks A lot.

I have never really had luck with the Emergency Software Recovery function on Smart Switch, only the Device Initialization tab. It does wipe everything out, but it did work for me.

Flash the latest version of the T715Y. Think Samsung boatloader does not allow downgrades.

The emergency software recovery didn't solve the problem. Even the newest firmware. The shop gave me a new one ...happy end
But i never face that kind of impossibility to install original firmware

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 Smoky Titanium (SM-T350) XAR/USA only!!!

If anyone needs help or advice, then post in this thread. I own this device and I have tried everything and I'll use that knowledge to those who need help. I am currently working on a Cyanogenmod rom for this device.
@Jonathan Kang
Spread your SM-T350 knowledge in this thread too if you can.

i'm new to this forum, but I've received an OTA update or maybe 4 updates and I'm wondering if I should take them? I just got this tab and it has T350XXU1BPE3 Marshmallow on it already. I would like to Root this and perhaps put a ROM on it, but I'm concerned about Samsung Locking the bootloader and keeping me from doing that.
The new updates are:
T350XXU1BPE3, T350XAR1BPE3, T350XXU1BPI2 & T350XAR1BPI1
Also, how do I root it and are there any good ROMs built for it?

do some research of this topic on your own before you take a look at it. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you, all, at the same time.
Ok, T350XXU1BPE3 is the XAR version. But anyways, you said you want to root it. There is no unlock bootloaders for Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.
If you haven't, go to Settings > About Device > Build Number (tap it 7 times until it says Developer Mode)
You will see the Developer Mode settings on the settings bar. Click on that and CheckMark the USB debugging mode.
First: Go to this link and download TWRP for SM-T350 (Lollipop version of TWRP is better than the updated Marshmallow version of TWRP. The Marshmallow version of TWRP has many unsolved bugs.)
Flash this via ODIN. Download ODIN
Turn off your Samsung Device and then go to Download mode (Vol. Down + Power + Home Button) then plug in the USB to PC and the device. ODIN will say, Device Added! Press AP slot and find the TWRP file. Then press Start. It should say RESET OK! Then your device should reboot. If it says failed, REPLY BACK TO ME. These are the methods I have done it and it works awesomely.
Second: Download SuperSU
If you've downloaded the file from the PC transfer the file to any desired folder you want. (Ex: Downloads, Music, etc.)
If you've downloaded the file from the Tablet itself, you should be able to find the file in the downloads section, unless you changed the download file destination.
So turn off your device then go to Recovery Mode (Vol. Up + Power + Home Button) [Don't get mixed up with Download mode!!!]
Then, press the Install slot and locate the SuperSU file from your desired location and press the file. It should say, Do You Want To Flash This File? Swipe right to flash the file. After installing, don't Wipe Cache/Dalvik and Reboot Device. If TWRP asks you to install TWRP DON'T LET IT!!!
Your device should now reboot.
Congrats you have Root.
Reply back to me if you want a Permissive Kernel so you could use and download ViPER4Android for Music FX, and etc.
If you want to know how to install Xposed (for modules such as Youtube Background) reply back to me also. I have a SM-T350 and I would be appreciated to help you and others.
If you want a custom rom for this Tablet, reply back to me also.
I am making a Cyanogenmod for SM-T350, so hitting that Thanks button will contribute me to working harder for all of you guys.
Hit the Thanks button if I have helped you and others!!!
Peace out.

Wow! Thanks for all the detail! For future reference I have and know how to use Odin, ADB/Fastboot, etc. But I really appreciate your help! I don't have time tonight to do this, But I will on Wednesday and will get my Tab rooted with TWRP installed.
Just curious, is the CM your building Nougat by chance? That would be just too cool!
Thanks again!

The CM rom should be based on Nougat. Also I would be porting the rom, so not really creating. Glad I helped! If you need any more help, just feel free to ask, that's what this thread is here for.
Those who need a [UNOFFICIAL] Rom for SM-T350. This is highly experimental and is under process of developing.
EVERVOLV (Not maintained by me but by @elginsk8r): http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...volv-galaxy-tab-sm-t350-t3411150#post67607709
Description: It is based on the AOSP project and it is running on a pretty much a Pure-Android experience.
TWRP for SM-T350: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/recovery-t3426560
Download Lollipop version of TWRP because it works with Third-Party apps.
The Marshmallow version of TWRP is under development by @ashyx and is also not compatible with Third-Party apps yet.
Have you ever heard of ViPER4Android? In order to run with the best features, then you will need a Permissive Kernel. SeLinux Changer doesn't work with Samsung Marshmallow. (It worked with Lollipop though) In order to get a Permissive Kernel for SM-T350 go to this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/kernel-galaxy-tab-sm-t555-5-8-2016-t3433560
It is not developed by me, I just put links that will be useful for SM-T350 users, but it was created by @ashyx. Flash it through ODIN!
Happy Flashing! (Please flash it after flashing TWRP if you haven't done so. Also, use the AP slot and choose the .tar file. If it is not extracted from .zip or some other file, extract it, if it's not a .tar)

Sure, I will help you, also have you checked out that EVERVOLV rom in the previous posts? Check that out and it is still in beta. It is not maintained by me, but by @elginsk8r. I, currently am working on a Nougat build which will be Cyanogenmod or maybe, I will make a new OS called AnKore (Korean if you move the An to the back of Kore, cause I am South Korean).
Anyways, good luck in the Android World now!
Good to hear that some body work on Android n for this device. Simple is the best.

Under progress, I have a lot of tests and quizzes for schools, stacked with homework too, so the project will be held back and probably will be finished by the end of February or during the summer. I am working very hard and I am putting more features than the original Cyanogen roms. I will announce after I finish.
@Xdevillived666
The status of the rom is:
Camera working
Themes are working sometimes and sometimes not
Home button is sometimes responsive
NavBar support
ViPER4Android working well (I don't like AudioFX that much)
Screen works perfectly, meaning it's responsive
Lag issues
Game rendering
Spoofing Google Play Store so you can install applications that are incompatible
Nougat Version AOSP, meaning untouched by any bloatware from Samsung
Gallery is unresponsive because of framework
Camera runs smoothly, but may need more options for photography
More to be added! This is just what is in my mind.
I followed the steps in the post above about rooting, but something isn't working correctly.
I installed Odin and flashed the tar file for TWRP. When I reboot into recovery (holding home, power, and up) I get the standard android recovery. I tried to flash the SuperSU file from there just in case and it fails with an invalid signature.
Is there something I missed along the way? I've flashed things with Odin before and didn't really see anything here that seems any different. The flashing in Odin was all boilerplate, passed and saw "RES OK" and the device rebooted.
My tablet is fine, but I can't installed SuperSU!
Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry, I am not done with the CM, but what exactly do you mean, "what device would I use for the port device?"

Note 8 port for NFE

Note 8 port for S7/S7E/NFE (F) Variant
By MKUltraBlack
V1.0
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682879859
Needs fixed: Iris
????? Maybe more
Working: Secure folder
Applock
USSD codes
Infinity wallpapers
Edge lighting fixed for NFE screen
Game tools working
Air commands
Long press restart to boot to recovery
Bixby (should be)
This is my first blind port, I only own S7 Edge so I might need some logs from users to fix problems. I found 1 guy to help test so it does boot and work etc
The kernel is just stock NFE kernel with dmverity etc removed
It is just 1 rom zip that flashes, no aroma, and selects the correct files to add for NFE
I will update this thread with more details maybe pics if some people can send them to me as I obviously can't get screenshots from NFE as I don't have 1.
Please feel free to leave any problems you find, not a list of what mods you want added though. There are a lot of threads on xda to add volume mods, etc.
Remember this is only V1.0, I will try fix anything that doesn't work in later versions

2. Open Odin on your PC and plug the USB cable into your phone and press volume up.
You will see it is connected to Odin, (there will be a blue rectangle saying com(number)
3. Select the AP section and load your TWRP .tar image in there.
4. Get ready to press volume up, home and power button at same time on your phone now press start on Odin, it will only take a few seconds, as soon as the box goes green and says pass, press the volume up, home and power button combo until TWRP splash screen shows up on your phone screen. Your phone is now completely clear with no operating system and ready to flash a custom rom. When you downloaded your rom, you stored it on your sd card or external storage, you need to do this as when you do all the wipes it wipes your internal storage but not your sd card, that's why it says in advanced wipe don't check the sd card or OTG boxes.

7. Press back until you go to main screen in TWRP and select install, select storage, external (sd card) and select the rom zip. Now just swipe to flash.
Normally it will go into aroma which contains check boxes of extra items to add into the rom, this rom however is a straight flash, it will automatically detect your phone model and select the correct kernel and battery capacity. It will say Installation finished when done. Now go back to main twrp screen and select reboot and press system. The phone will reboot, leave it 10-15mins to allow it to load the rom, be patient. Then you will be at the set up page just like starting a new phone. Set up from there and enjoy the rom.

I have also done a OneUI night mode themed twrp using @ananjaser1211 new 3.4.0 twrp.
Again if you spot any errors please contact me and I will sort them out.
Just flash the .img in twrp to recovery section and reboot to recovery.

What order did you do it in? That sounds like you wiped everything after installing the rom.
Follow the instructions in post 2

What is bootscript error, was there a number of something like script ended with error 7
The rom and Kernel are based on F variant. Did you use the new TWRP as well
Using Anans Twrp..sorry about that he knows about the error. Got it sorted out and flashed, Magisk installed. Navigation buttons have no back light on NoteFe F version. Using in United States on At&t. Text working fine. Testing call quality shortly.View attachment 5049861

There is a thread for secure folder mod on xda:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development/secure-folder-patch-custom-rom-t3949878
This thread is for my rom, not general help.
If you need help porting a custom rom to another model first make sure you have the original devs permission, then ask that dev what they have done to modify their files

Question How to enter in fastboot Realme GT 2?

Hi friends! I've a problem with Realme GT 2 (RMX3311) . Google Pay don't work, Netflix isn't available in Play Store and i think that's all is due to this device isn't verified with Play Protection.
I've software version : RMX3311_11_A.05 and don't have any updates but i've seen that they are release A.14
I think that if i flash it with latest (or previous) version is solved but i can't enter with fastboot.
Do someone know if it's possible to flash it or other solution?
Thanks to all!!
Do you have the rom file? If so, you can go to Settings > About device > clic the top tile (with realme logo) it should show you the version and some changlog, then click the 3dot menu (top right corner) and select Local install, choose rom file...
In the recovery menu, there is no option to flash stock rom, only wipe data is available.

Hi friend.
I've rom but only for flash (ofp file) and i don't find it for install locally that you said me.
And recovery options only reboot, power off and wipe data like you say.
Thanks
See this post, de deep testing is working on GT 2 RMX3310, change to 3312 export
[Chinese and Global Version] Unlock bootloader, updated
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, etc! I have not tested the global unlock, Global version unlock thread. Make sure you make backups before unlocking the bootloader, as this operation will wipe all user data and apps...

Each deep test app is specific to one single device model, ex. rmx3300 or 3311.
The deep test app is not released yet for 3311. I also have the same model and none of the apps I tried seems to work.
