General OnePlus 10 Pro camera samples. - OnePlus 10 Pro

I had my OnePlus 10 Pro delivered early this week ( 24th January 2022 ) and whilst I haven't had chance to do any "proper" camera testing, I have taken some photos locally whilst out walking my dog. I've uploaded them to Google Photos, I'll add the link below, but I'll also include a few of them right here as files.

I just completed my camera review & showcase of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. I used as many modes as possible, in daylight, night and overcast conditions, with static and moving things. The review has over 40 photos and lots of video. If you have any doubts about the camera on this phone, then check out the review and if you like amazing photography check it out too!!

Getting the Mate 30 Pro APK into the P30 Pro?

I love the P30 Pro, my only frustrating is the slightly processed look (over sharpening) to photos in Auto mode, avoided if shooting in Pro mode with RAW on (the jpeg produced is directly from the RAW file so no heavy processing at all) but would be great if auto mode results were more natural... I see this quote from a review of the Mate 30 Pro "Although the phone has the same main camera sensor as the P30 series, Huawei did changes to the processing. The biggest change visible is the removal of a degrading sharpening filter, allowing the phone to actually take advantage of the pixel-sharp clarity that the sensor is able to capture. In daylight as well as in most low-light scenes, this allows the Mate 30 Pro to showcase amongst the best spatial resolution and detail retention of any phone currently on the market" any way to delete the P30 pro camera apk and install the Mate 30 apk??

Shortly NO, you can't. In order to have the same functions as Mate 30 Pro, you would need root acces in order to install a mooded apk (P30 Pro has Kirin 980, Mate 30 Pro has Kirin 990 which is slightly different) + the camera libs & rest of the camera xml files.
Only hope for the P30 Pro users is that Huawei will update camera processing and other algorithms in order to match the ones from Mate 30 Pro in the next 2-3 firmwares releases, but i have doubts about it, because Mate 30 Pro IS atm their NEW FLAGSHIP and as it seems, in March they will release P40 Pro, so don't think they will work on more camera tweaks/improvements after that release, judging how they've done in P20 Pro case, which gets only security patches and EMUI 10 update, scheduled to be pushed to devices sometime in March

Glad i could be usefull and sry if it's not the answer you've expected, but on Huawei devices things are a lot more complicated than are on let's say Samsung, where you still can unlock bootloader, root device, flash customised deodexed firmwares, mod a ton of apps and so on...
On Huawei we have to use stock firmware with minor improvments using 3rd party apps, because the've stopped giving unlocking bootloader codes, so therefore no root/no devs to create custom firmwares or mood kernel/no help from OEM....

Question Xiaomi MI 11 Ultra vs Huawei P40 PRO

Hey all,
I've question about photo quality in new firmware version. When i took first photos it looks great, very similar to P40 PRO - here are samples from both phones https://mega.nz/file/yI4TwASb#vujZkwIElbtdujE_yReCCFXiDciXZVd9u0P7U44T9fA
I don't know if was any update, but photos i took today looks more blurry and i'm not happy with results - Can You upload some sample photos from MI11 Ultra with new China firmware? Currently i think P40 PRO is better camera than MI 11 Ultra, especially in night and zoom capabilities. I wanted post samples here in forum, but there is error - files are too big.
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I'm still a proud owner of my Huawei P40 Pro and bought it purely for the camera. Initially I was left very disappointed when I compared it with my MI 11 Ultra but I realized the GN2 sensor is still not optimized well enough yet so I'm staying optimistic and patient (while the P40 Pro's firmware is fully matured by now and has stopped getting camera improvements). The latest update makes it a lot better.
I've taken a range of recent shots unedited here on the latest v12.5.4 firmware whcih features a lot of camera improvements (minus low light): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/initial-impressions-photo-samples-cn-rom.4263469/
Thanks for your reply, will you so kind and share some other photos - i saw this, but it's most buildings, and they looks fine. The problem is when i took pictures of trees, grass - looks very blurry, details have lost.

Huawei has a long history of good picture quality (Sharpness, dynamic range, color science, etc...) as well as consistency and continuous improvement of their software for existing models.
Let's hope Xiaomi will progress enough to live up to Huawei's standards.
I have the international version with MIUI 12.0.1 and I can't wait to get 12.5.4 given how much they have improved their photo software.
I would have waited for the P50 if Google was still allowed to provide GMS to Huawei...

No problem, I will take some photos of greenery and a bit of wildlife tomorrow - I'll put these in my original thread.

I agree, I still love my P40 Pro and it took better shots than Mi 11 Ultra in all shooting scenarios when I first tried it out. I'll go as far as to say it even takes better photos than the S21 Ultra and iPhone 12 Pro Max or at least match them in most areas. At one point I was actually tempted to sell my My 11 Ultra as I got it really early and wait for the P50 Pro instead.
But I no longer have any regrets after missing Google app support for so long and the 12.5.4 update has already made things look a lot more promising and convincing of what's coming next in the future updates and I look forward to it.

Thank you for all the info.
I am rather a fan of DXO and tend to trust their benchmarks so I don't doubt 12.5.4 gets you enough quality to not regret your P40 Anyway the S21 has some real issues with noise and iOS is not my cup of tea, so it's not like I have a choice. I'll learn to enjoy my Mi 11 Ultra
Meanwhile I'll be eagerly waiting for the new firmware to arrive on the international version

According to this source at the bottom of the page which was one of the first to report on the 12.5.4's improvements, Xiaomi will be gathering live user feedback to further improve the camera on May the 7th: https://min.news/en/tech/590f98d68b0fdbb259d5fd644b74d23c.html
I have a good feeling they're trying to do what they can do get their camera performance as strong as possible before the EU release too so hopefully another update isn't too far away again.

Yes it does. It's derived from the latest CN ROM which has it.
Mi 11 Ultra vs P40 Pro in low light
note: I have the global Mi 11 Ultra, so no 12.5 update yet. I wonder if that update fixes the yellowish tone.

Hello
I too come from a Huawei P40 Pro and have bought a Mi 11 Ultra. I am with MIUI 12.0.3.
This is the comparison I have made last night. I have used the stock app on both the Mi 11 Ultra and the P40 Pro, in photo mode and in night mode. I have also used GCam on the Mi11 Ultra (it does not work on the P40 Pro)
The obvious thing is that the picture with the Mi 11 Ultra in photo mode is of very bad quality. I first thought that it was cinetic blur because my hand was shaky, but I have tried again with the same result. I really think it is a bug since the night mode should be enabled automatically, I hope it will be corrected soon (because it is annoying to select night mode everytime I take a picture)
By contrast the picture with the Mi 11 Ultra in night mode is better in my opinion than the pictures with the P40 Pro. The pictures with the P40 Pro have a red/purple tint. And there is less details on the P40 Pro picture in photo mode and more noise on the P40 Pro in night mode.
I find the picture with Gcam on the Mi 11 Ultra interesting. There are more fine details than the stock app, I think because the sharpness algorithm is less agressive. The colors are also more vibrant. But there is less dynamic range than the stock app.
Overall I prefer the Gcam picture for now even if the stock app in night mode has a better dynamic range. I hope we will have the best of both world with MIUI 12.5 and the DxOMark improvements.

Don't post samples before the update. It's useless.
I had the update yesterday and honestly, I don't see so much difference. The exposure is a little higher, but I don't see anything else...
But the bug that made the night mode sometimes working automatically at night and sometimes not has been corrected I think. Now it always work.
From what I see, I still find that the Mi 11 Ultra is superior than the P40 Pro. Both are good. The most obvious difference is that the mi 11 Ultra has a yellow tint, and the P40 Pro a purple tint.
But when zooming, we can really see that the P40 Pro denoising and sharpening algorithms are too agressive and loose a lot of details compared to the mi11 Ultra.

after the update
P40 Pro
The hassle of Google keeps me away from Huawei !
If they got that part fixed, I guess They'd rule the world of smartphones.
The update was the 12.5.3. I was told that the DxOMark update is the 12.5.4 so it is logical that I don't see much difference.
But even with the 12.5.3, I already find that the mi 11 Ultra is superior to the P40 Pro
We'll see the difference when I have the 12.5.4

Question Mi 11 Before buy Q

Hi, i would like to buy Mi 11,
Is wonder is photo / video (night mode) so good?
Now i have mi 9t and photo is nice, night video is awfull. (i use google camera+configs and miui camera)
Is in mi 11 better? A lot of better photos? and videos?
Haven't taken too many pics/vids, but yeah, xiaomi have imrpoved their cameras since the Mi 9 days!
not top of the line though check out dxomark its in the top 10.
I never understood the DxO-marks. I am happy with my Mi11 but the photo's I would give a 7/10. Night-mode is okay, but nothing in the photo can move. It basically just has a longer exposure so the photo will have more light but also more noise. Zooming in is always a bad idea. My Mi9T Pro (48mp) made the same photos with Gcam as the Mi11 stock. Gcam Mi11 doesn't improve much just yet, maybe in the future.
Overall I am not that impressed with the camera. Selfie-cam is pretty good though..

Question Which Camera Tuner version do your device use?

A few days ago I received the version 1.21.2 of the Camera Tuner 4 via Google Play Store.
The update notes stated some image and video improvements.
Until now for the Edge 30 Ultra not to many seem to have received this update.
Still a 200MP downscale looks way better than the 12.5MP right out of the phone.
Look at the grass in this sample
Here some other stuff after the update:
Collection of 200 to 50 megapixel downscales
Collection of 50MP right out of the phone (same motives)
I'm on 1.20.329 (August 28 Build) so no I haven't received the update yet.
Another comparison illustrating the long way to go for a good 50MP image
The 200MP downscale gives an idea on how the 50MP should look like.
Just compare the second church tower in the background. The JPEG engine created a patter that is far away from the real structure.
Shot in best lighting conditions and on a tripod.
In my opinion the white balance is not good as it is way too blueish.
