Graphene OS for Huawei P20 Pro - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Extraordinary request or inquiry whether Graphene OS is compatible with Huawei P20 Pro. Or is this an all around compatible OS for all other Android phones (including G Pixels)?
Many thanks in advance.

I think it's exclusive to Google Phones...but I could be wrong.

Port ROM emui (Honor 8 Manufacter), for our OnePlus3/3t

Hi!
Anybody have an idea how to port ROM emui (Honor 8 huawei Manufacturer), for our OnePlus3/3t ? Like Miui 8
Thanks.
probably not possible. Huawei does not like distributing any data about their software. They still havent released any kernel information. They use a completely different processor in the Honor 8 so itd be quite tough getting the honor 8 version of EMUI to work. Maybe EMUI 1 or 2 which use snapdragon processors would be easier but they are also very different. Besides its not made for western audiences to enjoy. It is strictly a chinese market so not many OP3T users would be okay with not having an app drawer. Believe me i used the Huawei Mate 8 before coming to the 3T. Super obscure phone with little development going on. I doubt anyone has really tried to pull EMUI off a Huawei phone ever for use in another. It is probably the worst software environment on any android phone. Not just saying that because it is my opinion on it but i noticed some horrid standby times along with no app drawer.
Emui is terrible UI.
Why you want it?
Basically speaking, I don't like EMUI.
My last phone was Huawei mate8 and it was also my last Huawei's phone. Why ? Because Huawei' ROM is rare people to develop and Huawei is hard to release its source code.
It's just like Xiaomi ... Common problem from China mobile company : Won't release their source code easily ...

OP6, Xiaomi and others will come with Android P. But nothing dor P20 Pro for now.
I tried googling Porject Treble support for P20 <anything> and did not get anywhere. Based on Huawei's track record I fear 2019 for Android P on a P20 Pro. But sure as hell I am reluctant to buy any 2018 flagship phone that does not either have a Manufacturer confirmed Android P implementation schedule or is actually shipping with P or a Beta.

Hence most are grabbing a Pixel phone, I guess. I do enjoy my P20 Pro, but would like manufacturers to push updates more frequently.

call recorder for emui 11

Call recording is almost impossible in mate 40 pro, I hv tried every thing from third party apps to hwcallrecorder.apk but no use. emui 11 makes it difficult annoying consumers to use call recording apps. if any got the solution please share it here.
Hi there,
I am following this post. Hopefully we will get it over there at some point.
thanks dear, hope so. I hv contact with Huawei customer services & informed them about this issue. hope to include call recording feature in the thier Harmony OS Soon.
Google Services is Starting to go Down annoying consumers from Featured Apps & making difficult to developers to be more proactive.

Actually they do have this feature. It is just region specific. If we had the chinese Mate 40 Pro we would have the native call recorder. With Harmony OS they surely have this feature imo since it is a very popular one in a lot of countries.
yes dear Huawei is already having this feature natively but unfortunately EMUI 11 is not supporting it. I wish Huawei makes Harmony Update ASAP.

EMUI 11 has this feature and supports it.
Harmony OS is still on beta for the Chinese models. Once it is official for China it will take probably half a year to get to the international models(just my opinion). Our best bet is soon someone to share the EMUI 11 native recorder apk from a chinese device. Fingers crossed.
is that so
I don't think EMUI 11 supports call recording feature though, as it is part of Android 10.
the real bet is on Harmony OS. & IT'S the only way to keep it up or to lose.

Hi,
It supports it. I had a P40 Pro(Global model) which I had installed the native call recorder and updated to EMUI 11. It works perfectly fine.
It is an essential feature in some countries and all vendors provide it. For example all Chinese models have it unlocked. I also had a Mate 30 Pro (Chinese model) and there the feature is unlocked, ready to use.
I also had a Mi 10 Ultra updated with Android 11 and it also had the call recording.

I have emui 11 harmony os, on p50 pro w call recorder.
How do i extract apk so that i install it on my p40 pro plus? Also harmony.
I can share it here ifor others if anyone would give me ADB syntax.
What ????
EMUI 11 or Harmony OS, these are 2 different operating systems.
If both phones are on Harmony OS, search on your P50 pro's App gallery for an apk extractor. With that apk extractor you can extract the call recorder from P50 pro and share it on P40 pro+.

Welcome! What has been your favorite Huawei device so far?
Welcome to XDA! There's lots of Huawei forums to gather information ...

What implications does the discontinuation of support for Android 10 have for the P30 Pro?

One month and three weeks ago, Google ceased support for Android 10. However, Huawei has pledged to continue providing security updates until May 31st, 2024, and even release EMUI 13. What are your thoughts on what the future may hold?
Very good remark.
There are so many cr*ppy Huawei 'Updates' and 'Blogs' and on some I read that EMUI 13 would still come and it would be based on Android 13. They are working on it....
In that case we can happily continue to use the P30 Pro until 1/1/2025 or smth like that.
On another blog I read that EMUI 13 would come but based on Android 10, in that case I'm not very interested in a new chinese-flavoured layout with a few new icons.
My personal fear is that Android 10 will be the terminus for the P30 Pro. (because Google will not grant Huawei the Android 13 update)
On the final note, I still love that phone and its camera capabilities.
