[APP] [ANDROID 13+] [NO ROOT] Monet Changer - change the color extraction algorithm - Google Pixel 5 Themes, Apps, and Mods

BackgroundAs we know, Android 12 has an algorithm (monet) for extracting colors from the wallpaper, as part of Google's Material You design.
Android 13 features 6 color extraction algorithms. The first 4 were discovered in the first developer preview:
Tonal Spot: the Android 12 default.
Vibrant: picks more vibrant colors.
Expressive: also picks colors not present in the wallpaper.
Spritz: more muted, almost grayscale colors.
2 more (Fruit Salad and Rainbow) were discovered in the 2nd preview.
In the developer previews they were hidden. Starting from Beta 1 palettes with them are shown in Wallpaper & style, but only the first 4 are available for wallpaper based colors, whereas the other 2 are only available for the dual tone basic colors.
About this appThis app lets people select between all of the algorithms, regardless of if the current accent colors are wallpaper based or basic.
This app is not for changing the accent colors manually. If you want that, try kdrag0n's Repainter.
Installation- Install the APK (the most recent version is attached to this post).
- Grant the necessary permission using either adb (see the second post for the command) or Shizuku.
Change log1.1.1:- Fixed app crash if Shizuku was used instead of adb
1.1:- Added Shizuku support
- Updated text in the About section
Spoiler: Earlier versions
1.0.1:- Fixed Tonal Spot being called "Color Spot" in the About section
- Minor visual improvements
1.0:- Initial release

How well does A13 DP2 run? Is it stable enough for daily use?

From what I can see A13 DP2 is pretty stable, however it's not on my daily device so I can't say for sure.

It appears that Android 13 Beta 1 has more Material You styles, which are probably the hidden themes this app enables. I'm installing it now to check.

I installed the beta, and yes, the new themes are exposed in the Styles and Wallpapers settings.

Update: upon further testing it appears that only 4 of the 6 algorithms are available for wallpaper based colors, and the other 2 are only available for the new dual tone static colors.

Happy to report that Monet Changer still works with Beta 3.

Thanks for this and also for recommending kdragon's color changing app in your op! Good stuff!

Monet Changer 1.1 has been released, featuring Shizuku support (no more adb commands required). As usual the download is in the OP.
And it still works on the RC/Beta 4.

Hey!
Loved your app, can't believe it exists!
Is there any way to trigger it on tasker ? maybe by intents ?

Hi, thanks. Currently there isn't a way to do this, but I can add one in the next update.

Android 14's second DP adds a monochrome algorithm for the new monochrome color scheme. It only generates one color regardless of your current theme, so I'm unsure if I should add support for it. Feel free to vote in the poll.

[THEME] Back 2 Blue - a simple theme for CM12.x/CM13

BACK 2 BLUE - a simple theme for CM12.x/CM13
BACKGROUND
As many CM users already know, CM changed how the stock Browser app looks in CM13, using a green palette. Just recently, they also quietly changed the palette for the Messaging app, this time in a more shocking purple. I don't understand why CM decide to put so much eye strain on us, nor do I want to stand the disharmony it caused on my homescreen.
Since there are so many devices of different nature and density, one modified browser/messaging app can't fit all, so I'm inspired to start my first Android "app" project according to CM's guidelines, the result of which is this simple theme that solves the above problem universally.
THEME DESCRIPTION
This theme, as of version 1 r2, themes the following elements:
Browser - revert to a blue version of Lollipop's browser icon; blue palette
Calculator (stock, KitKat and below) - use Marshmallow calculator icon
Email - blue icon and palette
Messaging - blue icon and palette
Sound Recorder - gray palette
Snap Camera - use stock Camera2 icon
Eleven (CM music player) - use icon prior to May 2016
SCREENSHOTS
Before you ask, the statusbar and navbar color effects are achieved by the Xposed module PerfectColorBar, not by the theme.

FINAL WORDS
The theme's aim is to correct the stray colors while keeping things as close to stock CM as possible - I created the project solely to satisfy my needs, to get rid of icons I see as discordance, so I will only theme certain system apps when necessary and will not theme user apps. I don't intend to become a pro themer and compete with all the wonderful full-fledged themes out there, and you might want to consider those themes or even make one yourself if you want further customization. It's easy - I created this one in mere hours, and if you are familiar with Android Studio, you can do it maybe even faster!
Thanks for checking out my first Android "app" project! Toss any useful suggestions below, but as said above, don't expect any requests get integrated
Version 1 r2 reverts the icon of Eleven (the default music player in CM) from the new pinkish one introduced in May to the gray one used prior to the change.

General Top 3 ColorOS 12 Customization Features

As I mentioned here before, I was lucky enough to be on the first wave of updates for my FInd X3 Pro, and as promised I'll share more insights with you!
Ok just to clarify, its my personal view based on my usage. Just share your view and lets discuss!
ColorOS 12: When I’ve updated my Find X3 Pro to ColorOS12 Beta Version, I couldn’t wait any longer to get hands-on new customization features. This time there is much more to experience compared to ColorOS 11 launch, so without further ado, I’m going through my personal TOP 3 Customization features on ColorOS 12:
Top 1: Omoji
Omoji is OPPO's 3D animated avatar of you and your movements! The feature uses a face capture algorithm to scan around 75 detail points of your face moves to create a sleek personalized emoji. I find that personalized emojis itself are nothing new, we know it from other apps already, but it’s definitely a highlight to send your face mimic in funny ways instead of boring messages. Next to this I tried Omoji as profile pic, on the always-on-display, and sent it via messenger & nearby share. Honestly, it's a lot of fun to try out different styles, and as I did, save several characters for different types of usage.

}
Top 2: Wallpaper Based Theme Settings
One of my favorite “customization spots”, the personalization tab, also got an upgrade. As a key highlight of Android 12 (Material You), ColorOS made its own version: Wallpaper based theme settings or how it is in settings: “Wallpaper color picking”.Along with the key features like icons styles, fingerprint animation, and color schemes, now you can also create your own matched theme by picking the theme colors based on your wallpaper. Simply place the dots anywhere on your wallpaper and the system will adopt the whole theme based on your selection. Spoiler: It’s amazing if you’re into customization and gives you endless options!
Top 3: AOD 2.0
Personally, I still find it pretty satisfying to create kaleidoscope patterns for Always-On-Display, and luckily this feature is included in the new AOD 2.0 interface along with a bunch of new custom options. AOD 2.0 allows you to pick your selfie and transform it into a portrait silhouette, or add your personal Omoji to be displayed, both definitely brings that sketchy and unique look to your AOD. I tried both, and will probably stick with my Omoji option.
These are my personal Top 3 Customization favorites on ColorOS 12.
As you know, there are plenty of more customizations to mention, such as Edge lighting, Fingerprint animation, darkmode setups and so on
For those who are on ColorOS 12, what are your top 3?
In developer option, could you activate Show Refresh Rate?
Then use some application and watch the number:
right now in Color 11 it stays on 120 or 60.
That's no good as it is supposed to fluctuates between 1 to 120 to save battery.
Oppo as always fooled users with features that aren't there

I second that. My only concern has been battery life so far.

Question MIUI 13 (Android 12) colour picker

Hi I am running 13.0.3.0 (SKFEUXM) ROM. Non rooted. And as MIUI does not comply fully with the Google standards you do not get any of the Pixel options to choose a colour theme.
But it does theme certain elements - like the gmail widget and others - see pic attached/below.
But I cannot see how it has picked this colour. On a pixel it will theme automatically using the wallpaper - but on RM10P it does not change when changing wallpaper and the wallpaper I have is blue/white (snowy scene in countryside with a bright blue sky).
Just wondered if anyone had figured this out?
NOTE: I know the repainter app exists - but this does not work with current ROM unrooted (I don’t want to root).
UPDATE: now fixed in 13.0.8.0 : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/miui-13-android-12-colour-picker.4420717/post-86725143
Cheers

Use repainter app from GPlay, its work
Hi. I know the repainter app exists see above - but this does not work with current ROM unrooted (I don’t want to root).
Tried it before update and just today when repainter was updated.
What version of RMN10PRO software are you running?
Cheers
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the ROM doesn't have the full dynamic Material Me thing implemented (it's not just the color picker missing), so Google apps are just defaulting to their fallback color scheme for A12. I'm not sure it can be helped.
(Also the whole dynamic Material Me is a nice idea with a horrible implementation even when it does work as expected, IMO. It creates the illusion of adding more customization options to Android, except it actually does the exact opposite.)
Hi Case_ - you articulated what is missing better than me, thanks.
And makes sense that a default exists.
So I am assuming all here on a non rooted stock MIUI A12 based ROM all have the same green hue in A12 Google widgets?
Cheers

Hi. No idea, hence this thread. You can try repainter in the app store but for me it does not work. So I have the green theme in Google widgets like the attached partial screenshot in original post.
I don't have any colour issues in google apps though.
Good luck.

It's worse than I tought, but there's a way... the color accent is vinculated to your wallpaper and you can only change the color accent of google apps by changing your wallpaper, and there's no way to turn it off. lol

Yes I should of said "no idea for my model and ROM". The wallpaper colours does dictate if the ROM complies with Google intentions. Unfortunately in the wonderful world of disparate software and hardware versions of Xiaomi in my ROM and model the wallpaper colour makes no difference (see and read my original post up top).
Glad it works on your combo.
Cheers
Hi FYI. Had an update today to 13.0.8.0 and all working now. Bug fixed. PSB - colour tint of Google apps now changes related to wallpaper.
First screen grab is my normal wallpaper (blue sky on a snowy day scene). This originally showed a green tint (green is default apparently):
Second screen grab is a wallpaper with more red tones:

There is another way try this
It's from the wallpaper by default, but you can pick your own color & style, with some restrictions.
Android 13 DP2: New Material You dynamic color theme styles and how to use them
For Android 13, Google is expanding Material You's dynamic color system with different color theme styles. Here's how to try them out early.
9to5google.com
Use an adb shell command like this to set the color to #3E2723 and the style to TONAL_POINT:
Code:
settings put secure theme_customization_overlay_packages '{"android.theme.customization.theme_style":"TONAL_POINT","android.theme.customization.color_source":"preset","android.theme.customization.system_palette":"3E2723"}'
And the following to revert back to using the wallpaper's color:
Code:
settings put secure theme_customization_overlay_packages '{"android.theme.customization.color_both":"0","android.theme.customization.color_source":"home_wallpaper"}'
