Question Device dead? - OnePlus 10 Pro

Hi,
my device does not power on neither is detect when plugged via USB or when plugged to charger.
I've already tried holding power button, power button + vol UP/down and nothing happens.
It had 60% of charge when it happened.
Now I'm just waiting to the battery completely dies to try to charge it again.
Or is there another command to reset it ?
Thanks

Try a hard reboot, hold power button for 10-15 seconds or disconnect the battery.

Hardware failure. Maybe the battery, the C port pcb, a loose connector or the mobo, in roughly that order.

Yeah, I'm started to think about hardware failure.
I disassembled it, everthing seems fine though. But the main board, memory and so I have no way to check it.
Thanks
So I'm giving up.... Leave it to spare parts, try to sell it as that....

May just be the battery. Any swelling is a failure but may fail without swelling. Older, degraded batteries are more likely to fail.
Try inspecting the ribbon cable jack pins. Simply detaching them then reattaching them is all it takes.

Yeah if under warranty put it together and send it in.

There is no RMA for me as I live in Brazil. With the cost to send it back it`s cheaper and faster to get a new one.

I thought that was the case, but I should have asked you that first. If you can't find the problem try taking it to a local repair shop. It may not be as bad as it seems. Could be a bad C port pcb which are cheap.

That can't be true...they should pay for shipping and if not it's not going to cost more than £800 to send it there is it??
I cannot believe that to be true at all.

It will be close. Here in Brazil we have to pay taxes and import fees. So if I sent it it will cost (doing conversion) around 45usd shipping,+ 10 for insurance.
Then to get it back is about 60% of the product price to import it back + the service to get it fix.
So buying a new one it better, but I've already decided not buying OnePlus again the lack of tools to let us manage the phone was the real issue here... And also all the posts that users getting their phones bricked, even with beta android 13, how a company release something that a user can't go back in an easy way?
Sorry but OnePlus was nice, now it's just company and less users..

And I agree. This will be my last OnePlus device for sure. I was toying with the idea of getting the nothing phone. Slower SOC but it looks amazing all the same

Just got the device in EDL mode. Now just need to find the full image for NE2213 in OPS format that is the one that MSM Tool needs. Anyone has any ideia ?
PS: Already tried to use the decrypt and encrypt tool to generate but I don't have the correct settings.xml file for this device.
And now I found out that V2.0.67 or V3 can read .ofp file...but those version require username/password.

Msm tool is locked down. It requires a technicians username and password. It also requires a phone home.
There's one loser whos going around selling stolen credentials for Msm. Hate to say it, but that might be your best bet?

Thanks, but not gonna pay a cent... If people starts to pay then we'll never get the tool for free.
So I prefer to lose the device or just keep it stored until the tool is available.
For the time being I'm back to my mi 10t.
And if the time for the phone support ends, just going to buy Samsung or htc if they get back on business

What the **** just happened to my phone ???? NEED HELP !!!

I just bought an 8925 a couple of weeks ago (about a year used) and it was working fine...Best phone I've had so far...Yesterday I'm sitting in my car, I start the TT software and drive off. As I'm driving off I plug the phone into the car charger and pouf! Phone just blacks out. No lights no nothing. I tried to plug the phone into a wall charger, data cable, car charger, nothing. No light, no sign of life at all...
I also had just purchased a new battery for it, tried it and still the same, nothing at all....Suggestions ???????? PLEASE !!!!!!
What kind of car charger do you have? There are reports that if you use a cheap, generic charger it may fry your phone.

THIS ONE. If it is fried, what can I do ? I mean, I'm sure I can't do much about the phone itself but can I maybe go after CellularAccessory.com ???
Good luck...
It's indeed highly recommended to only use HTC car chargers, there have been many reports of similar cases.
I dont think you are gona have much luck trying to go after the place you bought the charger from they usually have disclaimers about damage caused by anything they sell. If the phone truely is dead and going on your description you have probably fried components on the board, is to try claming on your household contents insurance just say it went pop when you plugged it in at home using your htc charger. Failing that if your phone is still under waranty then try the place you bought it from. DONT say you used a non branded charger though or you are screwed lol. Good Luck.

Damn, paid $3.95 for a multipurpose car charger and it fried your Tilt. I can't imagine that. I'd be p*ssed.
take it to att and see if its still in warranty and get a new one..if its out of waranty then call htc in usa and it should still be covered (manufactures warranty is 15 months). Htc devices are the most knoqwn swapped out phones with warranty exchanges..its very simple..ive exchanged my tilt 4 times now. I dont even break a sweat if something even SEEMS wrong..i used to freak out and try to fix things myself but i eneded up doing more damage than needed and luckily att is so nice and understanding..i just emediately take it in and get a new one now..even if something doesnt feel right..if need be i throw it in boot loader mode and say it wont boot.
It probably should be noted that nobody is suggesting you defraud HTC or AT&T on an open forum, especially senior members. Since your device is regulated by the FCC and it would probably make it a Federal offense, I think I would stick to the basics in any discussions with everyone. If they don't ask, fine, If they do ask then use your own judgment.

I will definately try that, but my only concern is that it's an unlocked att phone that I'm using in Montreal, Canada...Should I go to HTC Canada or USA???
Just tried calling HTC North America (the # that's on their website (425) 679-5318) and it just answers but with no sound at all..It's like if someone picks up the phone but it's just muted....I waited around 3 minutes thinking someone would probably end up answering, but no...
just take it into an att device support center (look on there site or call them) and just tell them it wont turn on..its not defrauding them its honest..as ling as its not PHYSICALLY DAMAGED (as in mving parts were damaged by dropping or mishandling) or WATER DAMAGED (as in the white square on the back is pink) then your good..This happened to me the frst time..i left it on a charge all night and next morning it wouldnt charge nor turn on and att took it with ease.
Wow, a three dollar car charger that is multipurpose for a several hundred dollar device.....the real question is...why? Before you ever plug anything into an electronic device please, please check the output voltage and amperage, a lesson to all.
Ok I was finally able to reach the repair dept. at HTC. They told me the phone is still under warranty so I sent it to their repair center in Indianapolis in the hopes they will be able to exchange it...
I do believe the phone is completely fried, but is there a way for them to still detect what caused it to fry ? Also, they told me that any third-party application they find on the phone voids the warranty, will they be able to see what was installed on the phone ??

If the phone is fryed I doubt they will be able to get it working thus they wont be able to see whats been installed on it and anything could have fryed it such as a power surge while it was plugged in at home. Just wait and see i guess.
once they take it apart they will be able to figure out the problem. sometimes not easy .

Help.. Bricked G1 (HTC Dream)

ok, to make it easier to explain, I made a video. Sorry for talking so low.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypQBEARaw9E
I recorded that with my G1, the "broken" G1 is my brothers.
We have a serious problem, we cannot exchange it, we bought it last week and since we bought it has been having problems. We were going to take it to the store and then yesterday morning, it was like that, it was working "fine" at night. The problem is that we took it to the store, and the "dot" behind the battery is red, which "means" it got wet... but it didn't, I'm not going to lie, it didn't get wet my brother has taken care of that phone more than anything, it still has all the plastic protectors, even if the phone was acting really weird...
Ok ok, to the point. It doesn't do anything, as you saw in the video, when you press the power button the buttons flash until I depress it, and then they just stay on. The same happens when I try going into recovery, or bootloader modes, nothing... I decided to leave it like that for a few hours, nothing.
Either the device is bricked, the screen is damaged, or the whole device is screwed.... What do you guys think??
Thanks in advance.

It could very well be all 3. Did you guys get this from T-Mobile?
The dot in the battery compartment of my phone is red (well, orange I supposed) and my phone has never been wet and is working fine. I'd argue the case if I were you.

Dave

Yes we did get it directly from a (official) T-Mobile store (not a 3rd party retailer).. we went there and they complained about the phone "getting wet"... the phone looks perfect and never gotten wet.

I am going to argue, I already started arguing by calling tmobile directly but they *****ed about why didnt i take the phone within the 14-day warranty if it was giving me issues and waited for this to happen....... they couldn't do anything, whatever, I'm going to try to take this further because, just like you, I can assure you my phone hasn't gotten wet.
Can you help me an send me a picture of your phone? So I could have some proof, my own phone's dot is white, and some other phones from friends/family are also white...
Thanks!
I've heard stories of that indicator turning red/pink when people have left the phone in the bathroom while showering... supposedly a lot of steam can turn it red.

Yeah they told me about this, and I actually *****ed my brother about this but he doesn't do this, I do, and my phone is fine. Anyways, he told me he just leaves the phone charging in the room while he showers...
So I had to get a new one by claiming the insurance ($130 deductible.....) there was no win for me here...... the only thing was that I was able to keep the damaged phone.
I called HTC to try and figure out how much it would be to fix it. The lady that answered the phone said the symptoms were like those of a bad motherboard, and she said it'd cost me around $475 to fix it, wait, what??.....
So, know, idk what to do with this crap. I might try to repair it.
Thanks anyways guys!

Ah, right. Tell you what... since I'm volunteering my time to trace the circuit and my phone works perfectly, there is nothing for me to gain out of this, so I'm not the one to be asking for money.
If you can't afford it yourself, might be a community thing, but hold off for a while, there is someone else I've been communicating with privately who may be sending a bricked board, if it works out, then I won't need yours.
Ill volunteer a bricked board

Find a broken G1 on eBay or CG and try repairing it yourself. Might run you under $100 to do this and it's probably a great learning experience...not to mention you could end up with another working G1.

I have just done that but the best they could tell me was send it in and wait for a quote and either send it back unrepaired for £27 or to dispose the device free of charge. Just dont know if its worth it though as i remember a few years ago sending my sensation in and because the screen had a little crack in it they wanted £200 just to fix the screen
Thanks replaced the screen and working great so far

I've read that on one hand that it's hardware/soldering issue,
and on the other hand that it might be just a software/firmware issue.
I've lots of experience in flashing all kinds of phones, including the Xiaomi Note 7 Pro (probably) of a friend.
So given I can unlock the bootloader and something can be done in software, I'm pretty sure I could do it.
Also I probably could open the device up and try to fix the mainboard.
Has anyone ever tried reflowing the mainboard?
Otherwise maybe I could replace the mainboard, if financially viable.
So please tell me if I should bid on it, and how much you reckon it might be worth!
Thank you very much and have a nice weekend!
My advice is to get a working phone. Instead of one where u have to repair. A working mi 8 is not expensive nowadays

Question Zenfone 8 suddenly died - no sign of life - Asus EU support not covering because of an unlocked bootloader

Hi,
A week ago I was using my < 4 months old Zenfone 8 while traveling in Germany, and at 19% battery the screen turned black. I went back home, tried charging it for as long as possible, it was staying cold and never showed any sign of life.
So I opened a RMA on Asus Belgium website (as I am from Belgium), and shipped the phone to their repair center.
Today, I got an email from them, saying that the warranty wasn't covering the damage, and that I had to pay 500,28€ for a replacement of the motherboard.
When going into their OOW website, I saw this table :
Warranty start:2021-05-16Warranty end:2023-05-15Issue date:2021-09-13Receive date:2021-09-15Charge reason:OOWCustomer agree to quotation:Charge reason:OOW - Out of warranty ASUS Product Unlock Flag-oow scratched
It seems to me that the "unlock flag" is their bootloader unlock tool, that I had indeed used to root the phone before, and wanted to try a few custom ROM - which I actually never did since there were none at the time. Of course, this is completely unrelated to the issue, as it is not even rooted anymore and I basically did nothing with it.
As I am from the EU, I saw that there are laws that protect consumers from these types of abusive behaviors from companies, as explained here https://piana.eu/root/
I am therefore
1) looking for people who had this problem with their Zenfone 8 (what is it actually? never seen a brand new phone die like this)
2) looking for people who had their warranty denied for an unlocked bootloader in the EU, and what is possible to do
Thank you very much for your attention and for your help
There loads of people that has the same bricked state:
ZenFone8 stuck on waiting for flashing full ramdump
As requested by the mod - opening new discussion for the issue. The Flashing Full Ramdump happened to me too - the phone was being charged over the night and the error was waiting when I woke up. I hope that at least your service will fix it quickly.
zentalk.asus.com
I had it on my 1st ZF8, complety dead. Sent it for repair but ASUS refunded it.
2nd one seems resistent to this bug, rooted, flashed all kinds of roms etc, ended in ramdump state but can always boot to fastboot.

Yes, it was bootloader unlocked.
You can also check state when you plug it to computer, even with dark screen.

Yeah I tried it back when I had the phone (since it’s now hostage at Asus) and nothing showed up in the device manager
So update: After a bit of back and forth emailing, I finally got an answer: « Im really sorry but our answer will not change. By using the unlock tool you have agreed that the warranty will be dropped, no matter what problem you are experiencing and regardless of how the problem arose. »
So basically they openly agree that they are scamming me of 500€ after selling me a faulty device, but thanks to an abusive clause, they think they can do it.
Great customer service, always a pleasure to give business to such a great company as Asus… I’ll get my lawyer involved now, anyone who has advices on the legal process in the EU is very welcome.
Seem to be some hardware fault with the 1st batch. Really bad customer response from asus, loads of reports of dying zf8's now

What type of zenfone did you have?
I am wondering whether only 256GB phones have this issue

I really hope my small 128 GB phone won't have this issue. I really like this phone...
There are reports on Zentalk forums of both 128 and 256 models dying
We are basically all held in suspense wondering if our phones will die or not. Personally, I have a second phone (Xperia z5 premium) that is fully set up and I can easily switch in case of problems, but it is still not a nice feeling
Possible battery failure. Inspect.
I dont think its battery fail, seems more likely that storage or RAM gets corrupt, the 1st state is
"waiting for flashing full ramdump". I have this state on my 2nd zf8 but can always reboot to fastboot. That was not the case on the first unit

I haven't found the cause. My phone is working normally.
However people on Zentalk forums which have sent their phones for repair have reported that the service report has information that motherboard was replaced. I can't confirm or deny this

Was the 128GB model for me, we still don’t know what the issue is.
If I can’t get the phone fixed the legal way I think I’ll pay the 60€ to get it back unrepaired (because yes, I have to pay for that) and open it myself to try and find the issue. Maybe I’ll be more competent than their lame service at identifying the issue

Oh man I feel sorry for you. In Germany, they'd have to prove it was not their fault in the first 6 month after buying

I know, it’s the exact same law here in Belgium but they don’t care…
