Commonly asked questions & answers:
Q: Why am I getting "error cannot read" while attempting to sideload the ROM
Spoiler: Answer
Well, you should be using the latest platform-tools and have it added to PATH. A lot of unofficial drivers floating around on the internet install outdated adb/fastboot along with the drivers. Please refrain from installing these as well as minimal adb & fastboot; Use the official google driver and official platform-tools instead.
Alternatively you can prefix each adb/fastboot cmd with ./ while in the platform-tools folder via powershell or bash, etc.
For example:
./adb sideload ./rom.zip
This basically tells the shell "Hey, I want to execute this local binary rather than the one in PATH".
Q: I'm a windows user and my device is not being listed when I run adb/fastboot devices. I'm using the latest platform-tools, what could be the reason for this?
Spoiler: Answer
Use the official Google USB driver
Q: I'm a linux user and my device is not being listed when I run adb/fastboot devices. I'm using the latest platform-tools, what could be the reason for this?
Spoiler: Answer
Set up udev rules
Q: Why is MTP and/or Android Auto not working?
Spoiler: Answer
Set the default USB configuration in Settings > The Evolver > Miscellaneous > USB Configuration
Don't see your question? Well, feel free to post a comment in this thread, we will reply as soon as we can. We'd appreciate if users used XDA FIRST and the telegram group as a LAST RESORT.
To be continued (I'm sure).
Firmware update:
FLASHING THE WRONG DDR TYPE WILL SEMI BRICK YOUR DEVICE. THE ONLY WAY TO RECOVER FROM THIS IS BY PURCHASING AN EDL DEEP FLASH CABLE AND USING IT IN-CONJUNCTION WITH MSMTOOL!!
Spoiler: Method 1
1. Check your DDR type using the following command:
adb shell getprop ro.boot.ddr_type
0 = ddr4
1 = ddr5
if getprop returns an empty value, use the following commands instead (requires root):
adb shell
su
cat /proc/devinfo/ddr_type
DDR4 = DDR4
DDR5 = DDR5
1. Download and flash the firmware zip that matches your device and DDR type:
8 (instantnoodle)
8 Pro (instantnoodlep)
8T (kebab)
9R (lemonades)
2. Reboot to recovery and then sideload the ROM.
Spoiler: Method 2
8 (instantnoodle)
8 Pro (instantnoodlep)
8T (kebab)
9R (lemonades)
Custom Kernels:
Custom kernels may be flashed at YOUR OWN RISK. However, we will not provide extended support regarding such and it is up to YOU, the end user to make your reports in the appropriate thread for X kernel, not in this thread.
Obtaining root:
Let it be known that we will not assist anyone with bug reports until they have disabled all modules and restored to the default, unpatched kernel that is shipped with the ROM!
Root can be obtained by either one of the following methods.
Spoiler: Method 1 (flashing magisk.apk/zip)
1. Download the Magisk.apk on your pc (you can change the file extension to .zip if you wish, though it is not required).
2. Reboot to recovery
3. Navigate to Apply update -> Apply from ADB
4. adb sideload magisk.apk (replace "magisk" with actual filename)
Spoiler: Method 2 (patching boot.img)
1. Download the full rom.zip from post #2 of this thread
2. Download payload-dumper-go that corresponds to the architecture of your pc
3. Run payload-dumper-go against the rom.zip
4. Grab boot.img from the extracted folder and transfer it to your device
5. Patch the boot.img with the magisk application and transfer the patched image to your pc
6. Reboot to bootloader
7. fastboot flash boot boot.img (replace "boot" with actual filename)
Retaining root across OTA updates:
When an OTA update is available, let it download and install. Before rebooting simply open Magisk Manager and click on the first "install" button and select "install to inactive slot". Once it's done, reboot and enjoy.
Reporting bugs and submitting logs:
In most cases logs should be provided when reporting bugs. This can be done by enabling USB debugging in developer options of the device, connecting it to your PC and running one of the following cmds depending on the type of bug/issue while reproducing it:
General system log
adb logcat > logcat.txt
Kernel log
adb shell su -c dmesg > dmesg.log
Please provide a detailed description of the bug/issue as well as link/upload the log you had taken.
There are exceptions to this as some issues are unable to be caught in logs. In this case, it is expected that users provide clear and accurate steps to reproduce the issue.
Getting involved in the development:
We've set everything up in such a way where all you need to do is install AOSP build dependencies, initialize a repo client, init the tiramisu branch of our manifest, sync the code and lunch your device (e.g lunch evolution_instantnoodlep-userdebug); Roomservice will automatically sync all device specific dependencies for you to compile without error. There is no need to manually clone anything due to this and applies to OnePlus 6, 6T, 7, 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro, 8, 8 Pro, 8T, 9R, 9 & 9 Pro (enchilada, fajita, guacamoleb, guacamole, hotdogb, hotdog, instantnoodle, instantnoodlep, kebab, lemonades, lemonade & lemonadep).
Device and ROM source changes can be submitted on github to the appropriate repositories by making pull requests via comparing forks. Please follow the google patch format for commits and triple check your changes by compile testing and verifying they're correct. Please retain proper authorship if you are not the author!

AB sir Pro.

Yup

OPlusExtras are back

Great job Anierinb! Man do you work quick! Can't wait to update to this and get all the cool android 13 stuff

So I did a dirty flash from 6.7 to 7 and all went well......
Is there a folder somewhere for the latest builds? I still have the version without the OnePlusExtras.
I guess without the Evolver there's no OTA.
Great job BTW. There are bugs as expected, but love how we have access to this so early!

I don't think the new build is uploaded yet, but in any case you can check his SF folder

I have a c33 fw installed and on a custom a12 based rom.. Can I dirty flash the rom on top of it?

Updates with OPlusExtras, fixed BT, NFC and safetynet are up on SF

just a query, does anyone use this ROM without ROOT ?

Time to flash

I know this is alpha, so fully expecting this, but pretty much every installed app crashes.
Any reason for this?
I did dirty flash, my lazyness could certainly be a contributing factor.
Battery life is tuly aweful.
But hey, it's A13. V4A, Root, Safetynet, GCAM Mods All good......

I just installed the latest version and came here just to post this. Initially Youtube and Chrome were crashing but after the App data wipe for youtube, it's working.
But chrome and KIWI browser are not at all working. haven't tested all apps though.
Looks like all Chrome depending apps are crashing. like (OLX, etc)
Biggest concern is : Screen Casting is auto connecting to my TV though i dont initiate it. I disconnect and after a few seconds it re connects

Well after creating my last tutorial, much has changed, wonderful new things have come about. So I thought it was time to create a new tutorial covering the new things.
So after now I have read 1000+ of pages and posts, hopeful this will help cut down on your searches. BUT read the whole tutorial before you ask questions. There are fare to many people that ask questions that are usually covered in the OP (Original Post) of threads. Please be respectful of the Developers Time and not ask dumb questions that have the answer posted.
Things you will need before you continue reading:
Ability to understand what you read

Download Odin from here - Thanks to daerragh (Get version 3.09)
Installation:
Put your Gear into Download Mode
a. Press and hold the power button until the Restarting appears
b. Repeatedly press the power button until the Select REBOOT MODE appears
c. Press the power button once to move the selection to Download
d. Press and hold the power button for about 3 sec.
e. You are now in download mode.
Connect your Gear to you PC. (Using the Cradle and Micro USB)
Open Odin
Click on the PDA Button
Locate the V700XXUAMK7 Firmware and select it. (It should be a .md5 file, if it is zipped, then unzip it)

Note: Let your gear sit for a bit as it updates everything. I might look like it is stuck on the Samsung logo, but you should see the word Samsung pulsating. That means its working. Should it take more than 5 mins, simply Press and hold the power button down until it resets.
Note: Should you get the dreaded screen of death, just flash the MK7 ROM back onto your gear and start all over.
Screen of Death (LOL)

*NOTE 2* Probably a good idea to run this prior to first installation (To save time)
Code:
$ adb shell
$ su
# mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p20 /system
# rm /system/recovery-from-boot.p

Full System UI? Get back DBL tap settings for quick Volume and Brightness
thanks to fOmey for the info.
If you have installed full system ui, then you might have noticed that a dbl finger dbl tap does not bring up you quick settings anymore. Not current;y there is no way to get that exact view back, as it has been replaced. fOmey has looked into extracting it out, but does not look like i can be done.
But never fear a solution is here.
Option 1)
Put Nova Launcher Prime on your gear so you have access to the Gestures and edit the dbl tap option
Option 2)
Create a shortcut.
What ever option you chose the result will be that same in the end.
How to:
Be sure you have Xposed & GravityBox installed and Activated. (See post #8)
Open up GravityBox
Goto >> Statusbar Tweaks >> QuickSettings Managment >> Statusbar QuickSettings Tiles
Then Select the following
Volume
Ringer Mode
Bluetooth
Brightness
Battery Status
And any other quick options you want.
Now go back to your desktop
press and hold to bring up options
Select Nova Actions >> Expand Quick Settings
You should now have an Icon on your desktop that when pressed will open up Quick Settings for you.
Note: If you have Nova Prime, and want to use a gesture, just select the gesture and then Select Nova Actions >> Expand Quick Settings
Note: You can go back into GraveBox and resort the tiles to your liking. (Along with many other options.

]NotiCounter Widget
NotiCounter Widget (Version as of this tutorial is v1.0)
Thanks to st-tps for creating it.
If your using Null_ and tired of not having a notification badge on your screen, this is the answer.
NotiCounter is just as the title suggests. Its a Widget that you can customize and have notification counts show on your gear screen. And it includes custom sounds.
Preparation.
If you have a previous version be sure to uninstall it before installing the new version.
Download NotiCounter Widget from here
Installation
Install NotiCounterWidget
Reboot Your Gear (Must Reboot after install)
Once rebooted go into Gear Settings >> Sound >> Notifications
Select NotiSilent (If it is not in your list, Did you reboot?) This is simply a blank sound file. this needs to be selected to avoid multiple notifications sounds (Note: Skip this step if you Don't plan to use the sound features in Noti.)
Now to avoid the repeated notification that Noti has been granted SU permissions, lets disable that message.
Open Super SU
Press the # next to NotiCouonter Widget
On the Notifications "Global Default" change that to read Disabled. This will stop the notifications from comming on everytime your screen turns on.
Open NotiCounter Widget app
Read the Pop up box.
Wait for SU permissions to kick in and the give the app SU permissions.
.
Play Sound? Check this box if you want to have a sound play when a notification comes in. (Be sure you did step 4 if you select this)
You can leave the sound file at default or Select a different one. (Click on Choose File)
Once you Select Choose File you will be give a list of sounds that have been included with Noti app.
Select any file and you will hear a preview of the sound file.
If you want to use your own personal sound files, go up one directory and the select Notifications folder. (See previous tutorials for adding custom sound files)
Once you have selected your sound file you want, then click Set
.
Custom Sounds? Check this box if you want to have custom sounds play according to the app .
Select Add Apps
You will be presented with a list of all apps that are set to send notifications to your gear.
Select any app you want a custom sound for
Select the sound file just as you could have above.
Once Selected you will see a Toast message box appear at the bottom letting you know it has been set.
Continue to add any other Custom Apps sounds you want to use.
Once your done got back to main Noti Screen.
If you made a mistake on one of the apps, select Edit List
You will be presented with a list of all the apps selected. Press and hold to edit anyone of them
You will have the option to Change, Abort, Delete.
Once done go back to main Noti Screen
.
Launch Notifications app on tap? Just as it says, Do you want to open the notifications screen when taping on the widget?
Text Size - you can change the text size to larger or small according to your needs
Color - This will alow you to change the color of the text using the sliders as needed.
Widget Background (Ellipse, Round, Transparent, Custom)
Custom Background - Selecting this will allow you to have a custom background
Select your background similar to how you selected a sound. when selecting a pic you will see a preview of it for a few seconds.
Blank spot at 0 unread Notifications? Basically do you want to see a number 0 or nothing at all when there are no notifications?
Power-saving Mode? Normal, Medium Saver, Power Saver. - Normal will give your a more stock feel for the Gear (I prefer Normal)
Normal - Checks for activity in the notifications app, if it´s running it does badge checks with a certain intervall.
Medium Saver - Checks for activity in the notifications app, if it´s running it does badge checks with a certain intervall. When Notifications hit 0 it stops the checks
Power Saver - Only checks Once upon screen On, then nothing.
Restore all Data - This will remove the sound files that Nofi install. If you want to remove Noti you might want to press this button first.
Now that you have your settings Press Save
Now place the widget like you would any other widget.
you will see two options for your widget. Normal and Bold. that is in reference to the Text number. (I prefer Bold)
Check out your new Noti widget.

Do you have the download "app" in the app drawer? I clean installed H2OS OB 16 and dont have it. Have to access only trough File manager, also, Do you have some chinese characters at Carrier information?
(to access go to cellular data on the quick bar -> more settings -> billing cicle -> carrier information)
Greetings

Guys I flashed this over Beta18 and lost access to recovery. These are the steps I followed, please help.
1. Backup current ROM (OB18)
2. Dirty Flash New H2OS version
3. Flash recovery image again
4. Reboot system
ROM booted without any problems and all my data is present but I lost access to TWRP.
Solution attempted: Reboot to fastboot and flash recovery image again, the process is successful but still TWRP is not coming up.
Please help. Thanks in advance

Same lost recovery. Have already used H2OS never lost it. Tried flashing recovery through fastboot. Still TWRP is not opening
Somehow managed to flash the twrp using all in one tool. Yet while the twrp boots it asks for the passwrod for encryption. Usually the lockscreen password will be accepted there. But now its not accepting the lockscreen password nor the "default_password" And if i cancel it and reboot to system, it boots to H2OS. But when i try to boot into recovery am reverted back to stock oneplus recovery. Any Solutions ????
I recovered from this situation, steps I took were
1. Reboot to bootloader
2. Flash recovery via fastboot
3. Reboot to recovery (Important)
4. It should reboot to TWRP now
5. Reboot system
You should have recovery. Stock Recovery.
The best way to flash recovery it's to reboot to Bootloader/Fasboot. Flash recovery from PC with ADB. Reboot to Bootloader. Reboot to recovery.
Other ways, are with Flashify or with TWRP.

System Screen Animations

I found some screen animations that I thought I would share. Originally posted in an aroma installer by stangdriver44. For more detailed information, please visit the link to his thread below. I don't have any gifs or shots of the Animations so if you want to know what they are like, you'll have to visit his thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/aroma-ozop-mods-animations-8-5-add-ons-t3651748
There are four full animations
Flyme - iOS - MissingLink - Nexus 7
And five add-on Dialog animations
Bounce - Drop - FlipMix - fold - slide
Unzip the ADB installer onto your PC. Run either the bat file, (animinstaller.bat) or if you prefer, the powershell file (one for linux, one for windows).
If you want to mix the full animations with different dialog add-on animations, install the full animation first, then the add-on. When done select "Build the module" option. Flash the mymagiskanimation.zip that is created in a folder called ozop on your sdcard (via Magisk manager).
