Question Change mobile hotspot settings - Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 (2021)

Hello,
I just buy an A8 2021 (SM-X200) for an Android Auto project with the app Headunit Reloaded but to allow my phone Android Auto and my tablet app to comunicate i need to set up the mobile hotspot with a very specific name and password, and Samsung had the great idea on the wifi version of this tablet to simply hide any way to access the mobile hotspot settings, i rooted the device but i cant find any way to change these settings, can someone help me pls

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. Did you manage to set up a mobile hotspot on this tablet?

Hi, install the app Shortcut Master (Lite) on Play Store, click on the 3 dots in the top right corner > Search, search for the words "tether" "hotspot" "wifi" and anything that can be related to a wifi hotspot, try every shortcut and one will bring you to the hotspot settings

[Q] WP8 NFC App?

I´m searching a special App for my 8X: Is there any app which can read NFC tags and use them to interact like starting bluetooth or something like this? On Android, there is NFC Task Launcher. Does WP8 has something similar?
thanks in advance!

Search "NFC Tag" in the Store. I was thinking of getting some NFC tags and had a look the other day. There were a few of them and I'm pretty sure they had the ability to launch a specific app as well as activating WiFi, Bluetooth etc.

Starting apps can be done. Changing settings is a no-no in Windows Phone due to security concerns. The most is the ability to open the settings page (e.g the wifi settings) but you have to turn it off yourself.

hey bud,
you could try to flash this rom it won't erase anything you have done thus far if you follow the directions, it has a working bluetooth tether that will grant internet functionality to most of your apps. just don't forget to thank the rome developer,

I have that rom but unfortunately Flipboard doesn.t work
In order to have internet access you need to be using PDANet+ Please read the OG rom post on it.

I have pdanet installed infact browser, Pulse etc. work but Flipboard doesn't work as i said previously.
Ive been cracking my skull trying to figure out where to download the lates null rom for the gear and i can see it says the thread is closed but how can i get it! i want it, i need the internet on the gear! where ese can i get it from?
im using null rom and have internet working via bluetooth.
I am using the gear with my HTC ONE/
I tried Flipboard-with internet via bluetooth/
the main cover page works-but once your feeds updates-all the content is unreadable
to get internet working you enable bluetooth tethering on your phone (of course)
open nova launcher-the main phone like SETTINGS- (not gear settings)
click on BLUETOOTH
Your phone should be listed-click tiny settings icon
next to that
scroll down to PROFILES
enable checkbox "internet access" use for internet access
note: make sure your are paired first-drove e crazy not even seeing these settings before
next page -checkbox

Bluetooth Tethering Toggle

Hi guys,
I just develop (my first android dev) the free app "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle" to be able to switch on/off the internet tethering bluetooth connection without to use the bluetooth settings each time. It works with the fOmey rom and others android platforms > 4.0.3, no root needed.
This application works only if tethering already works before and if the devices are paired.
Hope it will be usefull...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spac.BluetoothTetheringToggle
[Many thanks to fOmey for his great job and rom]
Very nice, thanks works well on nova launcher
Great job this is perfect, suggestion to integrate with Tasker so we can automate ?

You not need to install it on your phone, just on your gear (if you want to use internet with the gear over your phone by tethering.)
After install it on your Gear, add the widget on your gear and toggle it.

Sorry, I was thinking that your widget works for both devices, now I've understood! Anyway I've found another widget to toggle BT tethering from phone (without go into settings but directly from the homescreen)! Thanks a lot! (and sorry for my English...)

hi,
If you want to connect your Gear watch to internet over your phone, you must install the app on the watch gear only and add the widget "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle" on the desktop of your Gear.
it's the same when you go into the bluetooth settings of your Gear Watch (with the fOmey's ROM) and you select the tethering checkbox client.
(If you want to connect your tablet to internet over your phone, you must install the app on the tablet only and add the widget "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle" on the desktop of your tablet.
If you want to connect your phone A to internet over an other phone B, you must install the app on the first phone A only and add the widget "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle" on the desktop of your phone A.)
Just a suggest : can you hide the name under toggle? Because I don't use a classic grid (I use 5x3) and so I have to expand widget for see all the words... Maybe without name can be more nice and less intruder!
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
I ll do some tests and bring a solution. Not easy because the widget works on any android devices, not only Gear.. I don t find a sample to make a widget as a real icon with same title... (if someone knows, thank you for the help)
Thanks for developing this! So much easier to turn on tethering now!

Updated! Now seems perfect mate!!! Great work!
I´we noticed that when I have the bluetooth tether connected all the time, my Note 3 drains battery in high grade.
Your widget/app works fine to enable bt tether but I dislike the idea of doing it manually when I need internet connection.
So I have a Request:
Is it possible to add a setting that automatically enables bt tether after an set amount of time from that the screen is turned on?
Not straight away when it turns on since I don´t need internet access when I only turn on the Gear for a short time watching the clock for example.
And it ofcourse needs to turn the bt tether off again when the screen goes off.
Is this possible to do? Or does anyone have another idea of how doing this automatic?
Thanks for a great app btw!

This could be done with Tasker Intents, or with Tasker Secure Settings but only IF the app/widget allows the Intent to toggle the connection.
I tried but it seems the intent was not there in Secure Settings.
I will look at the manifest file and see if the Intent "allow toggling" can be called from Tasker Intent plugin

Yeah I thought so to, but it would be nice to have it included in the app.
A question about Tasker, I own the Direct Download-version of Tasker and use it on my Note 3, is it possible to use the same license on my Gear or am I forced to but another licence for every device?

Yes, I will see what I can do to include this option inside the app. and include a retry/auto too for disconnections..
(with tasker, I must try the app before to understand how it works; no information about: what I must add in the manifest file ?)

May be you can try Hotspot shield or Hola.
I prefer Hola -better internet this gives per app proxy & in yhe list of apps try tethering apps
you may not be able to use wifi tethering if disabled form operators side.
If you use Hola then enable unblocker, enable acceleration, then tap on unblocker see the list of apps select the country you want & Run(play) the app.
but you can try VPNs(Hotspot shield & Hola) for same & report here if it works.
Hit Thanks If i helped.

Please try this
Install the apk
Then go into Settings -> Connections -> More Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names. Once there, press menu, and choose "Reset to default". (Make sure you have at least one apn checked after resetting defaults)
Then try Tethering. You may or may not need to reboot after resetting APNs.
Let me Know
Get Wifi tether router set interface to wlan0 then create new APN, name whatever you want, apn to fast.t-mobile.com and make sure it's set to ipv4. Set tether provisioning in build prop to false. Reboot. Enable wifi tether and try it out, should be good. I set the build prop tweaks in 3c toolbox so it should stay, tethered around 12 gigs so far with no issue.

Hi, thanks, but thats exactly what im doing in profile, using the bluetooth connect to car to open the app, but the app doesnt auto connect to the cast device (and there is no option as far as i see in the app todo so), so the point in auto connect to the device cannot be provided like this in my usecase.
thanks for the tip with BT, that is my trigger already to start the action, but the action "auto connect to a cast device" ... is not given to me.

There is a tasker plugin by the same developer called AutoCast. Maybe it will help you.
I don't do any of this, so obviously I don't have any personal experience to offer. You might try on the tasker Google groups forum.

was a great idea, sadly this app (beta state) only supports google devices, no miracast device, but that function would have been the winner, thanks again
Probably a part of the problem is that Google removed miracast support from "stock" android awhile ago. That dates back to the nexus 6 days.

contacted the developer of the autocast plugin and he confirmed, only works with google cast devices like i (sadly) expected.
thanks anyway for the hint.
That's always working to automate the tap(s) required. You could use Tasker to open the app, AutoInput UI query to determine when it's open, then an AutoInput action to enable the device connection.
probably yes, but thats now too much read and trial and error for now, thanks.
