Patience is key although pestering on Samsung members might help
FWIW, 5G is all but gimmicky. I had 5g enabled for a few days and then came to realize what's the use of having 5g to get emails and whatsapp messages. 5G makes sense if you download a lot of stuff/ if you watch 8k videos on youtube or you'd like to see crazy download speeds in the speed test app... I hit 1200mbps download once on the app... Anything else, 5g is only going to drain your battery and trust me you will revert to 4g once the vanity wears off.

Agreed, it's not only drain battery fast but it will consume the data like hell, for sure after a while I'll also going to switch back-forth to 4G-5G

I guess they will have to update the modem config. so maybe soon. This is similar to my country, it take quite a while for samsung to enable N28 SA band and 5G CA despite that the phone hardware is capable of N28 SA (but actually 5G CA is a surprise for me because I don't think that the hardware will be capable of)

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G (EE/UK) Updates

Has anyone found out or received any information on updates regarding the UK's 5G OnePlus 7 Pro? Currently on Oxygen OS 9.5.3.GM27BA.

Same, but there haven't been any major updates. The 4G model is two updates ahead already. Seems like they are just selling the 5G model for money without offering any support for it. Just wanting to know if there is gonna be any update anytime soon, and which update are they gonna give us, because being a few updates behind is rediculous.

Just seems a bit unfair with the 4G model is getting updates to the camera and other fixed, and then people with the 5G model which is the more expensive device is just getting left out. If they want to make 5G the future of smartphones they should offer more support on the device.
OxygenOS 9.5.4.GM27BA should be the next update according to this
https://github.com/OnePlusOSS/andro...mmit/510ad8fb042c4a87e10f18e5c158361c36238c11
Would converting the 5g phone to international Allow updates since 9.5.7 is now out....
Bit annoyed that the updates are slow too considering the last 2 have related to improving the camera
If so is the only way to do it to root it?
Everyone needs to keep expectations in line with the situation we have here.
There is only 1 place in the entire world that has the 5G Pro device in use.
So updates will be tested on Non 5G and then ported over to 5G.
The camera i version 9.5.1 5G is the same as 9.5.4 non 5G.
So i expect the same here, 9.5.7 upates to be included in 9.5.4 5G.
However seeing as the source code was uploaded 3 days ago and still no OTA it must mean EE are testing all updates and delaying it.
So I dont think its OnePlus problem.
Once the device is no longer exclusive then we may be able to use EU 5G updates on our phones.
I believe the way to works is OP will give an update to ee they will then test it, report any bugs back to OP to fix and then approve the update and then it will go out. EE have always been slow with updates.. Well for Samsung they have been. My pixel 3xl updated straight from Google.
Why do EE need to be testing this? I would understand it if the phone had custom firmware on it by EE but they don't. The phone is no different from the standard device all be it with the 5g modem.
Very frustrating, really want the camera improvements.
Is it possible to put this version into the global version of updates like the t mobile version has been done?

I don't think this will work, there are some differences in the firmware. You may loose some functionality.

But it's discussed several times in many threads...

Best explanation I can give is due to the new forum design. At least for the foreseeable future, forums will be based on the "prefix" system without all the sub-forums that we have all been accustomed to. Of course, things can change, so we'll just have to wait and see my friend.
Hello, can an expert helping me. I have a sm-G998U1 s21 ultra I paid via Rakuten site.
My concern is that I am not able to get 5G signal, only LTE, knowing that my operator is FREE with 5G in France. My SIM card has no problem because when I install it on an other mobile phone I receive the 5G.
Questions to the expert:
- Is this s21 ultra model compatible with 5G European bands and if yes, how can I customize my phone to receive 5G?
- Taking into account that this model is an US phone, do you think it's possible that I change the firmware via ODIN by replacing the current version SMG998U1 (US) by a SMG998B (European) and will this solve my 5G problem?
Or this is impossible even with different firmware because it is due to the mobile hardware, the antenna is different on US models.
Thank you for your help.
Buying a phone destined for another region comes with a price. Back and forth there are compatibility issues. G988B (Exynos) will not operate 5G in USA and G998U/G998U1 (Snapdragon) will not in Europe. This has to do with different bands and modem settings.
Whatever you do, do not try to flash firmware of a different type of phone! It will brick your phone.
Thank you very much. The fault is due to the vendor Rakuten, it was mentioned that this model was compatible with french mobile providers. In fact it is true and not, it is working but only with 4G+ and not 5G!
I ordered this phone on Rakuten in order to get a better price but in the end this was really not a good idea!!!

4G and 5G spectrums are different in certain regions too. So a phone can support 4G but not 5G as the 4G spec may match the provider but the 5G may not be compatible.

Question China variant missing B66 band on T-Mobile

Never purchased a non-US compatible device and had a question:
The China variant seems to have most T-Mobile bands (both do not have B71) as the global variant WITH THE EXCEPTION OF B66. Does anyone know whether this will be an issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i get my china variant Mi 11 Ultra on Monday, im on T-mobile and i live in NYC. i can report back to you then.

Lucky you! Yes please let me know how the reception turns out. I don't really care about 5G since it's not that widespread, but wondering how 4G LTE will be like.
If you have any opinions on the China variant as you begin to use it, please post as well! Also considering it since there is a cheaper variant (8G+256GB).
Any updates how CN version working in NY with T-Mobile?
interesting to see speed test on 4G. Is actually supporting one 5G band.

when i ran speed test i get 10Mbps here in Queens at my house. but the real test for me will be at my job, since i dont get any WiFi there.
I also did a factory reset (a habit i always do) and playstore disappeared, i looked on youtube for easy video to re-install. This is my 1st Xiaomi phone, so im getting use to MIUI. but hardware, much better than my Note 20 Ultra. the display is better and the frame rate i see it faster on mi 11. I plan to flash global ROM, but stuck waiting 168 hours for unlock to go thru. this is only my 2nd day with the mi 11 and i like it already. going out later to take some pics.
Don't buy China version because it doesn't support well Carrier Aggregation combinations used by TMUS so you don't get good speed from network. Also it missing B71 and B66 bands - common in US networks. 5G only works with n41 SA when available theory.
Here is list of supported bands and Carrier Aggregation combinations: https://cacombos.com/device/M2102K1C

Disappointed to hear you are only getting 10Mbps in a city like Queens. Do update is on what your down speed is like at work!
Thank you and good luck with flashing to global!
Is there somewhere I can view a map of which T-Mobile bands are used throughout the US?

Wow why the difference? What kind of speeds were you getting with other phones at home? Was it about the same?
My mi11 in China can work 280Mbps by 5G. Although the band is a little less, it is not affected in China

5G vs 4G snapdragon

Is there any difference between the snapdragon 4g only version of the phone compared to the 5g version? Other than the 5g connectivity obviously.
Want to buy the phone but don't have the 5g version available in my country, only 4g exynos and snapdragon. There will also be no 5g coverage any time soon here so that's not an important factor.
Thanks all for any replies.
The 5G chipset(s) can suck battery. The 4G chipset(s) may be better integrated and likely more efficient.
Even were 5G is available so far its performance isn't that much faster (+20%) in most cases.
I would go with the better device/hardware and not worry about 5G especially on the early crossover phones where it tends to be a disaster.
I'm looking at getting a 2nd Note 10+ 4G Snapdragon... that's how important I think 5G and how disappointing the Samsung flagships since the 10+ have been.

Pie is still my preferred weapon, no cpu cycle robbing scoped storage.
A used Samsung in excellent condition running on Pie be good. My Note 10+ current load is over a year old, still fast and stable. I can tell you the Note 10+ 512gb Snapdragon variant is a fast running rock solid stable platform. It's fun to use. Once optimized, zero issues.
The biggest change and question is how the 5G is implemented. Is it integrated into the main chipset or does it have its own chipset (which will likely eat more battery). Can you completely turn off 5G? Tear downs may yield clues.
It a long research project and a pain. Make sure the review is about the chipset you want and not it's evil twin. I think Samsung deliberately uses 2 chipsets per model and plays off the better chipsets reviews. They've been doing this for many years. Reviewers even carriers get the specs mixed up. Fun times
they should be identical with the exception of the 4G not having a modem added on in an inefficient way.
that said it sounds like the 4G version needs a few firmware updates from Samsung to hit it's stride.

4G is the primary bandwidth, right?
5G is the tack on because it can't be relied on as a primary bandwidth.
I haven't been looking at the hardware architecture on the newer phones.
I'm not getting a 5G phone to avoid these conflicts. Android has too many battery hogs already.
the SD 865 was designed before 5G phones rolled out. it doesn't have an integrated 5G modem so it's not that good at handovers etc. some people mentioned their batteries taking a hit using 5G.

I thinks that's probably true.
Having the phone flip flopping between 4 and 5G vs just 4G probably isn't good for battery life in the latest generation.
I'm still not sold on 5G. Wonder if that's a 5G enabled cell tower I'm looking at
when coverage is complete and phones are on a 2nd or 3rd generation with it, it'll probably be way better.

Hmm... The article itself starts with 865 not having integrated 5G modem and then mentions that instead of internal it has external 5G modem X55. Then it mentions that it's a dual mode modem with 4G and 5G supports.
Conflicting information on Android Authority if I look at Qualcomm's specs sheet.
I still think that it has onboard 5G X55 modem which is external(not add-on) instead of integrated(internal).
That's why Sony had to disable it's 5G mode before launching Xperia 5II in US(delayed launch only in US).
Edit: Read through some articles and looks like X55 is external to 865 but is part of bundle and although manufacturers can replace it with other modem if they need, I don't think anyone has done this. This explains why Sony delayed Xperia 5 II in US as they had to disable 5G in XQ-AS62.
Biggest issue with 5G implementation aside is it's range limits and need for better line of sight than 4G. Can't change physics.
A stable transmission range is more important than huge bandwidth.

Question Cant get 5g in 5g area with Eir Mobile, Someone said updating the carrier policy document on the phone would help

Hi guys. Came here as im having problems with my Redmi Note 10 5g. I was with Three Ireland and was able to get 5g but the signal in my home wasnt the best, Someone told me that Eir 5G had much better reception so i switched my network to them, However now i cant get 5g at all with Eir. Im on a 5g plan and my area is covered for 5G. I seen posts about the Oneplus 8 pro 5g having same kind of problems with Eir and users said that by update the carrier policy document on the phone with Eir 5g settings enabled fixed it for them. However i cant find anything like this for the Redmi Note 5g.
I was just wondering if anyone here could maybe point me to a guide or in the right direction to do this for my phone?.
