Question Can I flash Redmi Note 11 running MIUI 13 Global RGCINXM with Indonesian RGKIDXM? - Redmi Note 11 (spes/spesn)

Hi all, I have recently purchased a Redmi Note 11 in India running MIUI 13 Global (RGCINXM). This ROM comes with a google dialer and I would like to revert to MI Dialer. I have flashed one of my older phones successfully with an Indonesian version to get back the MI dialer, however in that case, the ROM names were similar except for the country code (RGCxxXM for example).
I can't seem to find the exact same Indonesian ROM for my Redmi note 11 and wanted to check with the others if it would be safe to flash with the Indonesian NFC variant (RGKIDXM) to replace my current ROM (RGCINXM).
Could anyone please share their experiences?
Many Thanks.

According to the type of your rom your phone would be a redmi note 10 11 spes, models 2201117TG, 2201117TI, 2201117TL.
Could you confirm?
(characteristics/model).

Thanks for your prompt response.
The phone is a Redmi Note 11 2201117TI. Not sure why would you narrow it down to a redmi note 10. Perhaps different model names in different geographical areas?
Picture from box attached.
Many Thanks.

I wrote 10 but it's actually 11.
Don't bother with stock roms, install a Xiaomi EU rom that has the call recorder+playstore certified without root .

Thanks much. I was actually preferring to stick with stock ROM and not root the phone. If I were to stick with stock, would you or anyone recommend going for the NFC ROM from Indonesia (RGKIDXM)? I saw a couple of YouTube videos doing so, but wanted to make sure it wouldn't make things too messy.

The rom that I recommend does not require root
.
For the Indonesian rom no choice.
The bootloader must be unlocked(erase your data).
https://new.c.mi.com/global/post/101245
https://en.miui.com/unlock/index.html
then after 168 hours
Use this tool (read carefully, erase your data).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/flash-tool-guide-use-xiaomi-flash-tool.4262425/
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do a backup with Micloud.
With Indonesian rom you will have to lock the bootloader with Miflash otherwise the play store will not be certified, which is not the case with the Xiaomi Eu rom.

Thanks, just read carefully. Makes sense to flash with the Xiaomi EU ROM that you suggested. Just a couple of quick questions. Given that these are third party, are they secure to use?
And I read that these are based on MIUI China ROM. So hopefully there won't be any issues with Play store?
And last question, if I were to flash with the stock Indonesian ROM, can I replace the RGCxxxxx (non NFC) verison with RGKxxxxx (NFC) version?
Thanks for your help again!

Will there be any problems if I flash MIUI 11 global ROM on Indian version
thanks mate EEA-EU and Global
Will this void warranty? Thanks alot btw.
aveemashfaq theoretically, you can try to flash but rather it is not recommended. Because if there is a problem you may lose your warranty.
As there are already two official versions available, it is better to wait for versions for India.
yahyamhi these are the official versions. I got it in OTA myself, and there are links to official packages in the link.

NO.
Flashing whatever you want on XiaoMi phones, rooting and replacing any software that came with the device will not void your warranty. At least on my country or the Xiaomi's branch ( Cubao Gateway Mall ) where I purchased my 7A.

Wait, are you saying I can convert my Indian Redmi 7A to the Global Redmi 7A by installing the Global Fastboot ROM?
Wouldn't it fail, similar to how installing the Recovery version (of Indian > Global) fails? If it succeeds, will I lose any features like VoLTE?

No NFC on global ROM ?

I have the K20 pro, MIUI global 11.0.3 stable (11.0.3 QFKINXM) and for some reason there is no NFC option on my phone.
Is there any other official ROM that I can install that have call recorder and NFC?
It's super important for me to have the call recorder built in as I have at the moment.
Tnx for the help
I'm surprised you have the call recording feature--I've never had that available on the official Global ROM of any Xiaomi phone--although it's possible that feature is available or not based on the region you choose at set up.
You don't have an NFC option under connections and sharing?
It's there on the Global ROM on my phone.
Once again 'global' ROM causes confusion.
Depending on how you look at it, there is either 1 global ROM or 4 global ROMs.
For any ROM that is not Chinese, you will notice that it is referred to as global MIUI in the about phone settings page.
However there are 4 different ROMs that are labelled this way.
Indian
European
Russian
Global
The Indian phone does not have NFC hardware, therefore NFC is disabled in the Indian ROM. You have an Indian ROM installed on your phone.
The European, Russian and Global ROMs all come with the Google dialer app, which does not allow call recording.
If you want non-Chinese MIUI, with working NFC and the MIUI dialer app that allows call recording, then I believe your only option is the xiaomi.eu ROM.

Prior to the Android 10 update on the MI 9T Pro the Global ROMs on every Xiaomi phone I have ever owned had the Xiaomi Dialer and Messaging apps--Xiaomi put out a press release less than two weeks ago confirming the switch to the Google Dialer and Messaging apps on the Global ROMs.
I'm not sure why the OP would be running an official Xiaomi ROM that doesn't correspond to the hardware on his phone.

We're not talking about previous phones, we're talking about the Mi 9T Pro, which has the Google dialer and messaging apps, and has had them since its release.
Only the K20 Pro (both regions) came with the Xiaomi dialer and messaging apps.
All we know is that the OP has a K20 Pro. They may have the Indian version, in which case they have the correct MIUI ROM. Otherwise, they obviously don't want to live with the Chinese MIUI ROM.

Head to www.xiaomi.eu site and from the menu bar on left. You have two options. 1.Stable roms are not updated very frequently and are with lesser to zero bugs. 2. Weekly developer roms if you want to experience new features early but may have bugs.
Before flashing a .eu rom you will have to unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery. You will find all the related info and procedures in XDA development threads.

I have a K20 Pro Premium Edition. Currently, there is only the China ROM available for the Premium Edition.
I was able to flash the K20 Pro Global ROM on it, then I discovered it doesn't have call recording (which I need). So then I flashed the K20 Pro Indian ROM on it and it has call recording, but missing Dual GPS and NFC. The mobile signal strength seems to be weaker as well, compared to when I was on the K20 Pro Premium Edition China ROM.
I know there are recording apps out there, but I prefer to run the native call recording if possible. The main problem for me is the signal strength on the Indian ROM. It sucks and I'm wondering if flashing a different region firmware will fix this? Can someone confirm?

Question Can anyone share their experiences of Xiaomi.eu ROM vs Global ROM?

I own the Mi 11 with CN ROM and have been using it in North America. I'm thinking of flashing a different ROM to see if it will be a better experience. Has anyone in my situation flashed both the Global ROM and Xiaomi.eu ROM and can give an opinion on which is better overall? I'd be interested in things like speed, battery life, Play services compatability etc.
Thanks in advance!
It basically boils down to privacy vs latest updates.
Xiaomi will phone home as much as you let it, I think the EU rom is supposed to fix that but updates take a little longer.

Global is different to the Xiaomi EU one but many wrongly call the EU one global.
Xiaomi EU is based on the Chinese ROM.
Global is for outside China and has less features than Chinese and Xiaomi EU ROM.

I knew that the Global ROM (developed by Xiaomi) is meant for phones outside of China. I also understood that the Xiaomi.eu ROM is created by developers and is different (but based on) the Chinese stock ROM that shipped with the phone. I think you confused me by saying the "Chinese EU ROM" instead of "Xiaomi.eu" ROM which is what I usually see people say.
What I don't like about the Chinese stock ROM for Chinese users is that it doesn't seem to fully support all Google services and the implementation of Android 11 isn't complete (for example I don't see the Nearby Share feature).
What features does the Global ROM (created by Xiaomi for international users) lack that the Chinese ROM has? I think that as long as the Global ROM supports Google services fully I would be happy with it. If not then I guess I would flash the Xiaomi.eu ROM but it would be annoying to have to apply all updates manually.

Can't actually remember most of them but there was a few. A lot of the AI options like app pre loading etc
Xiaomi also confirmed the global Miui 12.5 update will be a "lite" version of the Chinese Miui so software will be more basic.
When I had the Mi 10 the EU version worked better than the global one with Google and notifications in general. Might of sorted that with next month's release.

Ok. Thanks for the info
I have CN ROM and had to tweak it like crazy to get rid of the China stuff and to get notifications to work. Turned off the battery saver for every app I needed notifications and enabled every option.
Now with EU ROM I didn't have to do anything like that, and have the google feed on the left. Everything is perfect with EU - well recommended.
Excuse me for jump in...I want to by Mi 11 Pro. I want Google Play, Google pay, banking aps, Netflix to work. Shell I stay on Chinese Rom or put Xiaomi.eu Rom? I am from Europe. Thanks!
Edit: Now I see it´s an old Topic :-/
xiaomi eu is far superior than stock rom with more features and optimization, no reason to use global rom

I have already tried the latest stable MIUI14 from xiaomi.eu and it seemed quite alright
But I had one problem - which was rather annoying
I couldn't get my banking app to install properly. And I believe that is because the bootloader is unlocked. But my device was original CN, which I then flashed to xiaomi.eu (and locking the bootloader after that, is not recommended!)
So my question here is - if I install the Global ROM instead (which is xiaomi official, in contrary to the xiaomi.eu ROM), will I be able to lock the bootloader after flashing?

The EU ROM doesn't need to lock bootloader.
The EU ROM looks have a issue relate Google Backup.
Does anyone have the same issue?
New - Google Drive backup bug? Backup gone after reboot [updated]
[updated description below because it seems like backups dissappear after reboot] Not sure if this is from ROM or the Google Drive app. After a day or two my Google backup of my phone dissappears. Even though done successfully before and also shown in Google Drive, it dissappears after a day...
xiaomi.eu
One good reason to move to EU rom: it fixed stuff where China Rom doesn't!
For example, in China/Global ROM miui14.0.12 the AOD display will always turn itself off if it lay on a dark room for around 10 minutes. And turning off Bluetooth from android top down menu will turn off 24 hours only and not forever.
In Miui EU, this they fixed it by making it on always. Same goes to Bluetooth turning off when pressed from top drop down menu.
And many other translation jitter you can notice in China Rom if you were to restart your phone. For instance, calendar will show 1 second of Chinese before becoming english.

Question What is the actual benefit of flashing EU ROM or getting global version

Considering a Mi11 Ultra buy, can someone tell me what the actual benefit is of flashing EU ROM? Is it a security thing, software compatibility, less bugs, etc? ie. Is it worth it or even useful to flash EU ROM these days?

Sorry if this is a stupid newbie question but EU ROM and Global are not the same, right?
When you buy from Xiaomi, you either get CN ROM or Global ROM. If I am understanding this correctly, is Global ROM the version without Chinese bloatware sold outside of China and EU ROM is a custom ROM developed independently based on Global that can be flashed onto either Global or China ROM?
In other words, is Global version out of the box like the vanilla version that EU ROM builds on top of?
So for chinese region = CHINA ROM
for EU region = EEA ROM
for India = INDIA ROM
for all other regions = GLOBAL ROM
these are official releases by Xiaomi for devices for particular regions.
And then there is Xiaomi.eu rom which is a custom ROM (not by xiaomi but by a developer from community). This Xiaomi.eu rom is based on China ROM but is made available for any mi 11 ultra user irrespective of where they live.
If you have a phone which came stock with CHINESE ROM you cannot flash EEA/INDIA/GLOBAL ROM without EDL authorization (its a development access for xiaomi service centers to flash ROMS). So as a normal user you cannot YET. But you can flash xiaomi.eu rom once you unlock the bootloader.

Save about $500 if that matters to you and get the 12/512 version instead of overpaying for 12/256
Xiaomi is supposed to be cheap lol

All I know is that it worked for me, but then so many others brick their phones just flashing EU, so it's not clear what's going on.

maybe it's cause they flashed a custom rom.. the xiaomi.eu is not exactly an official rom.
but if you flashed the EEA or IN or GLOBAL rom, it's fine?
Can you lock back the BL after you flash EEA or GLOBAL star rom?
No idea, I just wanted to see if CA worked. It didn't.

Trying to relock would brick your device
I got the mi 11 ultra from tradingshenzen with the chinese rom , unlocked the bootloader and tried to flash the EEA Rom. The device bricked and I needed the help from an EDl guy . He flashed the global ROM on it.
Can I now flash the EEA or the xiaomi.eu rom by myself on the device ?

Question Mi 11 ultra - xiaomi.eu or global rom?

Hi, I have a 11 ultra Chinese version, after waiting 7 days to unlock and all of bugging twrp installation, I finished to put stable xiaomi.eu Rom on it. But somehow I find that eu rom now have a lot of small bugs.
Don't know that should keep it or go to global rom?
Xiaomi EU is overstimated, it may be good for west people who wants a debloated and translated china rom with Google services, but Global Rom is much better and also is faster

i will give eu a last try after an fresh installation ...
I didn't try myself the China ROM but I read it is more performing than the Xiaomi EU as well as Global and EEA stock ROMs
When I got my Mi 11 Ultra I started the process to unlock it right away since it uses the Chinese rom. However, by the time it was ready to be unlocked I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. The Chinese rom with the Google playstore installed does everything I need it to do. I don't really see any reason to change to the global or eu rom so far.

The Global Indian (IN) ROM is smaller in size as compared to the Global (IM) ROM and they are pretty much identical.
The IN ROM though has the Red Dot notification light displayed in the Rear Display when there is any notification.

Edit:
So this option is available in the Global MI Rom but you may also have to enable another setting which might not be 'enabled' by default.
Notification Access > Rear Display > Allow Notification Access
A regular notification option is available but it is pretty limited. I think it is for Spotify integration (music control) and Answering the Phone.

Quite content with the Global MI ROM
By IN ROM you mean Indian? Because the standard Global is easily rootable
Chinese rom is the best one. 120Hz everywhere.
Latest patches latest updates but no Ok google and no android auto. (At least in old versions of software)
I didn’t like global rom because many apps including YouTube is not working at 120hz.
Obviously China ROM is more updated and more refined,

1. MiUi dialler & Contacts - Didn't like it. Prefer Google
2. MiUi power down screen - Didn't like it. Still prefer Global ROM screen.
3. Google Assistant didn't work from lockscreen. It has to be running in the background for it to work from lockscreen (fingerprint protected)
The CN ROM does have some extra neat animations (like Battery Charging animations) which I would look to have. But I can do without it.
In Global MI ROM, Google Assistant is a system app I guess. So it's in the background by default? It works well from lockscreen.
Red dot notification in rear display works on Global MI ROM but doesn't work on the CN ROM. The Xiaomi.eu's (CN) ROM.

I would love to test video. I don't quite know how to check the Hz. Honestly I haven't tested my phone yet.
How do you check how many Hz when watching YouTube?

IN as in Indian yes
IN ROM latest fastboot ROM is v12.0.2.0 and then OTA update to v12.5.2.0.
I didn't know if I would lose root so I thought Global MI ROM is better. Lot more fastboot ROM releases and perhaps some added features looking at the version number and size of the MI fastboot Rom.

There should be many workaround for recording calls if you search
Xiaomi.eu all day. Faster updates, more tweaks and features over both stock CN and global. I immediately went Xiaomi.eu and haven't looked back.
