This is Zest Kernel. It's an optimized kernel for our device which includes a few nifty features. Built, on every security update, you'll have the best of the best. Features will be listed below and shared, to the most of my ability, across all my supported devices. This isn't just my kernel it's yours too - request any features you like and I'll try to add them in. However, I'm also busy with studies so please don't ask for dumb stuff.

And your anykernel.sh has device check set at NO. (do.devicecheck=0). Maybe better to make it (do.devicecheck=1)

Hi, On top of latest lineage rom, it gave me bootloop. Reflashing stock boot image fixed. Is it me or it's still under development?

Ah, yes. Weirdly some TWRPs react funnily to this command so on-release I always leave it off. Seems there's only one TWRP here tho. Thanks, will do :highfive:.

The kernel seems to be pretty much correct, it's the flashing procedure that I'm uncertain of. It's the same base kernel @ggow uses with some building fixes and my additions. But yes, this is a development kernel until anyone can actually get it working with the patch.

I had a stock built kernel from unmodified Amazon source, and installed it with anykernel, before I discontinued the project. @ggow showed me up. Way up, by making his kernel free from that Amazon log feature.
Anyway anykernel flashes this device with the exploit no problem.
Think I had used anykernel 2 though. You have used 3.
I will look again, and see if I see any difference in the scripts.

I just tried to flash with the anykernel2 script i had used before. And result was bootlooping on the Amazon logo.

I tried both AK2 and AK3 with osm0sis seeing no issues in my AK configuration, so it’s not that.
Yah, I think something was changed and some sort of check was added in. I think I tried dm-verity disabling too but I may be wrong. My kernel is available at https://lasterhub.me/zk.html for anyone to try though ( click menu then BETA before selecting as no release version was released yet ).

I never built for A11 and will not have the opportunity to test it manually.

I am not a fan of display overclocking cuz it will lead to decreased apps stability and changed colors.
Furthermore, tried overclocking gpu (the only thing that worth to oc on our Tab) but it wont boot for some unknown reason.
Even if u change/add freq just a bit higher.
Maybe it will be clear sometime.

I can help u with that, it's just one file to change in kernel. Samsung dex 144hz works with usb type c monitor certified by samsung and adapters from samsung, but their adapters are not what i need to work.
Just need to delete the other cases in switch and keep the case of Samsung Adapters to return from function.
It's not about OC GPU

I do not enjoy change above all.
Interested in some great projects as Exagear, Linux Deploy, old DOS and console emulators.
Large amount of them are discontinued and pretty obsolete.
Besides fancy design changes A11 brings many disgusting limitations that just unacceptable for me.
They broke a lot of old applications & modules which I really do not want to lose.
However I will update as soon as there will be alternatives or extended support.

Can I use this on T970 which already came with Android 11 in the first place? Do I have to downgrade to use this?

Question S21 Ultra [Exynos]: Building a custom kernel

Hello, I am trying to build and run a custom kernel on S21 Ultra Exynos (SM-G998B). Reason: support permissive SELinux policy.
I am running AUF6 firmware, downloaded AUF6 kernel source from Samsung, followed the included build instructions and with unmodified sources, ran included `build_kernel.sh `, and created a boot.img using AIK, and flashed the resulting .img file via TWRP.
Rebooting into system, the phone is stuck on displaying the boot logo. Reading /proc/last_kmsg through TWRP, logging stops right after 'Starting kernel...' message. At this point I am not sure what else I can do to resolve this. Please help.
P.S. my compiled Image size is 26M, while stock is 28M.

I'm sure you know this already, but there's a magisk module that does that already.
If I was to build a kernel I would try and definitely build something that has smoother performance or slightly better battery life.

Keep up the efforts. It is a shame there are no custom kernels for the phone...

If you are talking about this: https://github.com/evdenis/selinux_permissive , then having tried it it did not work. On their own XDA thread, they state 'The module will not work if your kernel compiled with always enforcing config, e.g., stock samsung kernels. It's not possible to enable permissive mode on such kernels'. Unless I am missing something here?

Ok. I managed to install a custom kernel. There is already one in development here: https://github.com/mohammad92/android_kernel_samsung_exynos2100
Here are the steps I took.
1. Downgraded firmware to 3AUDA.
2. I ran 'build_menu' script from the repository, and selected p3s target. Here, I ran into build errors, so I commented out 'export LLVM=1' from 'build_menu' script, and this produced a kernel image. While that matched original instructions from samsung kernel release, the result did not boot (same hang as before), so I put LLVM=1 back, and resolved build issues by installing clang on my host system. It seems like LLVM=1 is the trick here, as I now have a working custom kernel, and it is 'permissive'. Perfect. Attached is the zip file to be installed with TWRP.

Makes sense, however, this 'export LLVM=1' line is not present in the samsung's official build instructions that come with the kernel zip. Nor have I found any mention of this flag on any of the kernel building tutorials online and on this forum. Maybe I missed something, but this looks non-obvious for someone new to this.

Yeah, I read the makefile. LLVM flag is supported there, but unset/unused by default, resulting in corrupt images. and you have to somehow know that you need to set it externally.

Sadly no on my oneplus i use arter kernel and i absolutely lovibg it. Sadly for my s21u there isnt one :/

What's more important now is to stress samsung's opensource service to release the AUG4 kernel source

1. Download the image
2. Reboot your Essential Phone to bootloader and plug it in to your computer
3. Now open up your Terminal (macOS and Linux) or Command Prompt (Windows) and download the firmware from the links below.
4. Once downloaded, type in fastboot -w to make sure your /data is formatted
5. Now type in fastboot update <location of the firmware>, things will be automated from this point on.
6. Profit!

I flashed this firmware and everything is fine. But when I flashed magisk, the screen seemed to move a little to the right. The screenshot is OK, but it can be seen in the photo.

This issue showed at one or two latest StatiXOS Android 11 builds for mata, after installing Magisk. According to Anay, one the team devs, it could be related to "the kernel thinks you’re in recovery, so it shifts the whole framebuffer 64 pixels".
The fix was to use a kernel from previous builds not affected or to wait until the issue can be fixed with StatiXOS Android 12, because Android 11 builds were EOL.

Currently in use, the problems found are that the night light mode is invalid, and the hot spot is opened, setting the password, and others' connection fails

if magisk is not supported, what is the alternative for rooting the rom? thank you.

On statix A11, how to update/flash from los recovery

I noticed that, even in previous versions of statixos 4.x, there is a wifi performance gap. On the aosp version, for example, the test is passed with about 300mbps in download, while on statixos it is around 100mbps. Have you also noticed this?

I love this ROM and am very appreciative of the work you've done to keep my favorite phone off all time going. Magisk compatibility would be a nice addition. And maybe a pixel launcher version that allows the 2X2 grid pattern and super large icon folders on the desktop. Old people approved. Good work.

is it that good? I've been wanting to install it but I fear of bugs and battery issues (since my battery is already trash because of age)

It is fast. I haven't noticed a difference in battery life. Chrome doesn't work. I use the browser. Even the 360 mod works. The screen and battery are really easy to replace. I did it on the PH-1 here. My white one is stock and it's is a little tired. The ROM probably fully works on Verizon. I switched to Visible and it only partially works. It fully works on my Mint SIM.

It doesn't really have any customization options other than the normal A12 stock ones. I also noticed yesterday that I can no longer flash boot images or even restore it to stock firmware. The AB partitioning seems to be gone. Love the ROM but there should be a way to leave it. I may have just not figured it out yet.

I haven't used this rom yet but as far as I know, a rom can't remove the A/B partitioning on a device

This awesome ROM is flashed just like flashing the stock firmware using flashall.bat. When I try reflashing the stock firmware, it says NO NO. The size of some file is too large. If I try to flash just any boot image, including the one from this ROM, to _a or _b in fastboot... It says AB partitioning is not supported by this device.

Yes, it will work to make sure u can check logs on Documents/yakt/yakt.log

Yes, it worked. You need to look in your documents folder.
I'm currently not using it right though, I'm using a custom kernel.

Hi, I am using it on Oneplus 9Pro running OOS13 stock 5.4.147 and it seems to be working fine. I can feel a difference in the UI operations. Thanks.

New YAKT v7 release!​
Changelog:
- Reverted userdata tweak from oriole (This makes storage speeds lower).
- Removed some scheduler tweaks (This might fix callbench scores).
- Removed normal cgroup tweaker.
- Force zpool compressor to zsmalloc.
- Removed kprofiles tweak (Doesn't make any sense tweaking it).
- Enable sched auto group (In order to reduce latency).
- Tweaked sched_latency_ns.

Hey dev, I see you very active with YAKT and Nexus (for which I don't understand all diff. repos).
Can you please explain something I cannot figure out: is it possible in kernel for newer Androids (I have 11 on lavender) to enable Mass Storage Gadget ,so that SD card from phone can be seen as USB drive in computer? (I used UMS Enabler app for that ,but needs MSG).
Must it be compiled or could it be Magisk module tweaker ,like this one ?

Hi! Something weird is happening to my phone, whenever I reboot and unlock it instantly, the YAKT.log is created, but when I unlock it after some minutes the log isn't. I don't understand why and I don't know if yakt is working when the log isn't created.

This can be used on any kernels including stock's?
