Question Change Default Music Player - Motorola Edge 20 Pro

Hi,
How the hell do you change the default music player on this phone!

Settings→Apps→Default Apps
or try to open a music file(It will ask you which app would you open)

Neither work.
I listen to a podcast, I have MX Player installed, if I open the podcast from the default file manager the podcast will open using the default player which I don't want. No option to choose which player will open this file.
Default Apps is hopeless!

[Q] How do I associate videos to a default player when you have more than one player?

There's got to be a simple way to do this: I have some soft-porn, (basically), clips I don't want to show up in the Gallery or in any players directory, (by adding a .nomedia file in the directory with the clips). I use a File Manager app to get to them on my SD Card. The file manager shows an icon for the Zimly player next to the files, but when I open them, the default player runs instead. How do I associate the default player for mp4 files? I want to use Zimly and not the default player.
Thanks!

what music players will play in background?

on criskelo v 5.1. Stock and Winamp won't play in background
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
All music players will continue to play in the background. If it doesn't do it on your device, there's something wrong with the ROM.
agree
Don't use file manager to select songs, go directly to the music player and select songs from there, if you use the file manager as soon as you try to minimize it the player will quit.

That hit the spot! I had downloaded a podcast. I guess when you select a downloaded item from the notication bar, it uses a file manager and hence won't play in background.
Hey there
try using jet audio

PowerAmp users on Marshmallow

Hi everyone,
since updating to MM Samsung MyFiles (the stock filebrowser of samsung) won't assign mp3, flac basically any music file to PowerAmp which is very annoying. In the past if chose a music file it would ask me which app I want to open it with nowadays it opens kodi and if I remove kodi it says there is no app to open a mp3 with! (I removed the stock music player) Just once when my usb otg stick was connected and I chose a m4a. (aac) audio file it asked me if I want to open it with PowerAmp or kodi but having the same file on the device memory it's the some either kodi or no compatible app message.... does any PowerAmp user has the same issue?

Streaming Audio Files in Background (while doing other tasks with the Note 5) ???

When I stream an audio file on my Note 5, it plays in the Google Play Music app that came with the phone. If I click off of the app as it plays the file, the audio stops playing altogether and the app basically closes. I have to restart the stream and then find the point that it stopped to resume. So, I cannot do anything on the phone with the audio playing the background it seems. I believe this happens if I play a video via the stock video player app as well. Is there a way where I can play such files in the background while I surf the 'net or do other tasks on my phone? Is there an app that might accomplish this on Android??? TIA.

How do I do this? When I click on any audio file on the Note 5, it only gives me the option of playing it (streaming it) with the Google Play Music app or downloading it. If I download it, I can still only open it and play it with the Google Play Music app. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Great! I did that and it does now give me the option of playing via Google Play Music app or the stock music player. However, I still cannot do anything else on the phone without the audio file pausing and/or stopping the playing of the audio file. For example, I just downloaded a podcast file onto my phone, opened it and told it to play it with the stock music player app. It will sit there and play the entire hour-long podcast just fine. But, if I need to go check a text message I received or look at something on the Internet, the stock music player stops playing the audio file (pauses playback of it) until I finish checking the text message or complete the Internet task and go back to the stock music player and click on the "play" button. I would prefer that it keeps playing the audio file when I minimize it to go check text messages or e-mails or do something on the Internet. Or is there maybe a 3rd party app that will do this??? Thanks for your help!

It appears that you use "my files" to play your music..you have been using the pop up music player and thus it will stop when you exit. Try to play music via the music app, search your music in the app itself and not from your downloaded files. Once you are in the stock music app,go to tracks and all your downloaded music will appear

Don't ask me why I didn't think of trying this before, but I didn't. I just opened the stock music player and went to tracks (just ask you described), the podcast files were there. I clicked on the one I was listening to last night and proceeded to check my text messages and e-mail and the audio kept playing in the background. Thanks for mentioning this! Really appreciate it! :good: :good: :good:
