The device is linked to a Miui account which must be yours.
Check here:
https://us.i.mi.com/
There is the "forgot password" option.

If the phone is not linked to a Xiaomi account this request will never arrive.
This case is frequent with a second-hand phone where the former owner forgot to delete it from his account.
This is one of the security in case of loss or theft of the device.

If you never set a security lock, like pin, gesture or fingerprint, there is a small chance to startup again.
Otherwise you can't startup without Mi Service.
If you wiped your data, everything is gone, but not the encryption, so Miui can't acces the data partition. You need to format the data partition for removing that encryption too.

thx for the reply any idea or tutorial to proceed ?

It's the security on the lock screen that encrypts the data.
By formatting the data you delete your data and the encryption but you will still have the unlock request at startup since the phone is linked to a Xiaomi account.

I think you are right. Even without some security lockoptions, you must pass always the lockscreen.
But I was under the assumption that you didn't need a Mi account for that.

You understood everything.

You still got some options left...
U can play around and see if it work...
YouTube can lead you for the tools you gonna need...search bypass m account
The other way, is to replace the logic board card ... Easy thing to do... Just make sure order the rite version for your device... That will solve it 100%

Mi account sign up process always asks at least one way to verify your account, either it's a phone number or an active email.
Hard to believe just because you said it's "your phone". If it is, the linked mi account can be recovered either by email registered by it or a phone number used to verify the account. Unless both of your email and phone number is already inactive, it just makes the process longer, but still possible.
Reminds me of case of hardware dealer claimed Apple intentionally "lock" their laptops so that they cannot be resold. Whatever he claimed to be, either it's "donated, the owner didn't know", "bought at trusted refurbished reseller" -- when it's locked, it's hard to verify whether it was really donated or just "stolen". Some people would lie to meet their ends.

Do you have a custom recovery? If you have twrp or orangefox, then you can install a custom rom that is not miui and it doesn't ask you for a miui account.

You can only install a custom recovery and rom if the bootloader is unlocked.
For that you need a Mi account.
Because this isn't the case he is complete ruled out.

Click the top link in my signature for info. Especially if you are thinking of re-locking the bootloader.
You should remove your Google account and any security pin/password/pattern lock before hand. Then do a factory reset from settings before you begin. Safety first.

Giffgaff said they'd need the device protection taken off
"Don't forget to remove your PIN or lock code, and any other kind of protection so the phone fixers can turn on your phone and confirm the issue."
However it can be turned on and the PIN encryption is gone, I just don't know whether they will need my google account to get further into the phone seeing as it's a factory image flash. I can't lock the bootloader because i can't see anything on the screen and I cannot force it off without it auto rebooting.

If the screen isnt working, they can see the issue long before getting to boot up. To turn off device protection, you must remove the google account before a factory reset. You obviously cant do this without seeing what you're doing. And you wouldnt want them to have access to your google account. All you can do is flash factory and send it as is. Device protection isnt going to prevent them fixing a broken display issue.

By flashing the factory image, in its entirety, all of your account information would need to be entered before you could use the device again anyway. After the repair process, when the device is powered on, they would only see the start up screen, as if it were a new device.

True.
OP wanted to avoid access to his device by others. In general it is good practice to change password from time to time.
It is a point of view. Do not rely only on the security of a system.

I agree. That's why in my first response, I said that very thing. However with a broken screen, he could not do this from his device. So it was recommend that he do it via the web. But with the new features of security, you must wait 72 hours after changing your password before factory resetting. I think it's a time issue and the OP wants to get their phone off to be repaired.

N6 factory reset protection password

Hi guys, i got a Nexus 6, bought to a friend, but i did a factory reset and now is asking me for the last account used in the device, i ask to my friend and dont know (the phone its a gift from his father). Android 5.1 and there is no way to know wich account were used in the device.
Please someone can help, the bootloader is locked, cant unlock because "android debbuging" is off. Can i flash a special stock images or something?? or what can i do to pass this vrification?
thanks.
@fernando2610
You have to enter the username and password for the last person who used the device. There is no way around this. If you can't get that information, then this device is useless.
If bootloader is locked you're Sol!

Not sure on that. Though if you have an unlocked bootloader, the device protection is useless anyway as you can just flash it back to stock and if you're rooted / modified, locking the bootloader is quite a dangerous thing to do (if you get in a bootloop and cannot get into custom recovery, with a locked bootloader, you're screwed).

Question Cant add more accounts to this SIM Card

Hello
So, i wanted to unlock my phone's bootloader so that i can use pixel experience (i hate MIUI, atleast MIUI13) and i created an account with my phone number and added account under Mi Unlock Status, but then for some reason i deleted that account. Then i created another account with the same number and when i go to add it under Mi Unlock Status, it says "Cant add more accounts to this SIM Card. Try another" idk what that "another" thing is to try. How can i fix this problem? Can waiting for 7 days or even 30 days fix this problem? I have seen some people say they changed SIMs, but i cant do so. Also there are not many threads on this topic which would help me. I dont mind on waiting (better late than never). Please help me fix this.
Thanks )

MI account locked, or Google account locked? You can delete the Google account from the phone. You can wipe the ROM via Fastboot and reinstall it using a stock image source, then get a fresh shot at logging into MIUI, but not sure it is required. You have to type in the account details, it isn't automatic. I did it to unlock it but now I see it no longer is logged in. My suspicion is because of system updates, etc.
Google frp is simple to remove, As for Mi Account, seems to be happening a lot on here, surely the previous owner wouldve removed his details and accounts and reset the phone before passing on or selling. NOT saying yours is, but this usually very common with found or stolen phones, hence the need for security. If its Mi account locked your probably going to have to get in touch with Xiaomi and maybe pay for a service center to do it, but they absolutley will want proof of purchase or gift to ensure it is what it is and indeed not a stolen phone.

Places like CEX in the UK now wont buy 2nd hand phones unless thats been dealt with or icloud locked Iphones, but you are right, if someone is passing on a phone they really need to make sure all associated ownership is removed, Xiaomi compared to others seems to be an issue getting it resolved.

I assume you can't get into Recovery either? Any Xiaomi-created desktop tool will want you to log in. If it allows that, you could use different Xiaomi credentials. I know there is an ADB/Fastboot Xiaomi desktop tool but no experience if it will get you through a locked Fastboot.

Oh. Try wiping data, i.e. phone reset. If that doesn't help, it might be one of the system apps holding the Xiaomi acct. Since you can use ADB, that gives you a full ROM install capability. External SD will help for that. I do not have the ADB syntax handy. I have done this myself, but Googling will help. Recovery might allow you to connect to ADB via your PC, as well. You can isolate which Xiaomi app handles account verification and you could first try updating or removing it or wiping its data via ADB. The "Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot tools.jar" shows all the ADB features it does manually, for which you can use ADB manually. Be prepared to update your desktop java/jre if you get an error launching the .jar with a double-click. You can also reveal the complete ADB syntax. The syntax includes "adb shell" plus other required syntax commands in an Admin command prompt. Google is your friend. Good luck.

Google should have some suggestions if someone else has an idea. I can't picture just sideload without full adb capability. Use an admin command prompt on your PC. Perhaps some info on how/why it became locked this way, even if the original owner can't or won't help, via Googling I mean. If some security feature in the phone was trippped, it might be intentional to keep you from using it, but I find it really hard to believe non-nubes can't just crack it.

The protection is there for a good reason, for both the owner and Xiaomi.
You can access EDL but you still need Xiaomi authorized service account to do anything in there. There's nothing you could do except go to Xiaomi service center along with complete materials of ownership that the real owner really cannot unlock it.
Some illegal box might be able to reset it via EDL, but beware their method is never guarantee worked and it might totally brick the phone.

Question Redmi note 10 5g mi account problem

I have a Redmi note 10 5g which I performed a factory reset - it booted back to the mi account screen and asked for password - the password was forgotten and the phone number is not accessible anymore because the sim is lost.
I have gone to the xiaomi site and submitted a request for a code with the information they asked for , but after 3 days have not received a SMS or any other contact from them.
the phone displays the unlocked symbol on boot
I can get the phone to fastboot and connect to windows computer running MiFlash and it will see the phone
can I just flash a 3rd party ROM with MiFlash and bypass/delete all the xiaomi account nonsense ?
or what are my options as a way forward to get this phone to a usable state ?
I have been reading the forums and lots of people seem to have had similar problems with their mi account but I have not seen a definitive solution posted that seems correct or else there is a lot of steps etc that seem to be jumbled or not explained neatly.
thanks for any help
There is an official removal of the account

You need to remove the Mi Lock via a paid server
by unlocking code (Offical remove)
ok - where do I find these paid server and how much do they cost ?

Unfortunately, unlocking will cost a lot
You need worldwide service
is this really the only answer ? why when I have access to the hardware , I am unable to do what I want ?
I own the phone , but it is basically a brick - I will attempt to get the phone number back with a new sim card from the teleco

If you restore the SIM card
Easily your device can be unlocked
I managed to get the phone number back from the telco and activated the phone
with the SIM card , I inserted into another phone and went to the xiaomi site , used the phone number and said I had lost the password - they sent me a confirmation code via SMS which then allowed me to change the password and then activate the phone with that password.
I started up the phone and went to settings -> Xiaomi account which showed that account was signed in on the phone
then I signed out of the account
this whole exercise has been a bit of an eye opener and makes me want to get a ASOP ROM onto the xiaomi phone as soon as possible - they make nice hardware for the prices , but this OS and the seeming need to access your data is a bad problem
many countries in the world have people who need to watch every bit of data their phone uses because of the cost , but so many of these companies have no qualms about just using a lot of it for their own gain - it is just immoral

Yes, since you have an unlocked bootloader and fastboot, you should be able to flash a 3rd party ROM.
