Hello there! šŸ‘‹ - Introductions

Hello there! I'm Kspiderman (ofc from my username), not brave enough rn to share my real name (maybe in the future I will edit this post and share it). My explorating into android roms and android in general started when I was given my mom's old Samsung A7 2017 phone, which ofc has support only till android 8, and that my dad didn't want to buy a new phone. Came across a youtube video on Samsung one ui 1 android 9 on this phone, didn't understand at first, but then after coming here, I understood how to install TWRP, install custom rom, and finally successful. Ofc I craved for more android versions lol, so kept on trying new roms daily, tho it was my daily driver lmao. And then learning how to root, rooted applicated, modding and theming, I grew closer to this community and a sudden desire of mine wanted to help you all how much ever I can and become more close! I also plan to create a custom rom or support a device once I get into college, maybe use my daily driver, or buy two phones, or try to update Samsung A7 itself but looks like it's support is coming to an end soon (well not that soon, but yeah), but I shall do my all to contribute to each and everything I can here and become a member of the XDA family!
PS:- I don't understand how the hierarchy here is assigned since I've become a senior membor now and idk when that even happened or didn't notice until today lmao. So pls explain that too me too, thank you!

Well looks like the didn't apply on the heading
Edit:- Nvm fixed that lmao

Thanks for the memories

Let me 1st say a huge thank you to dzo and all the devs I have been following the vouge andoid from .9 - 2.2 from sd loading to nand flashing, from having to boot data in windows defore booting in to android, from the bule keyboard to rouge tools, and it has been a hell of a ride. The vouge was my 1st smart phone and I hated wm6 but android open up new doors, and hacking became a way of life. Im sad to say I was always in the background chicking for the next update, and never more then an end user. But everyone here always made me feel welcomed. I will miss my vouge thank you all for never letting it die and taking it places I never dreamed. I will miss all of you the most
however all things must come to an end, and im moving on with my new toy. I just picked a samsung galaxy s and will be joining that group. Thank you all again for last 2 years
Nate
Can we get a hip-hip hooray?
It's alright, boy. Some day most of us will move to another device. By the way, how did you get your Samsung Galaxy S? I want one used and cheap
Welcome to the sgs club
Hope you enjoy the new phone! Congrats!

Jamezelle, congrats on the modship!
I must say, going from my tilt with 2.2 to the sgs with 2.1 was a little bit of a disappointment but it's a great phone. Although I wish the community was as great as this one was.

hey Mssmison are you doing any development for SGS
i have the Verizon Fascinate and i know you are not in the US but i was hoping we might have a developer with you kind of back ground
if you bo build a Rom, will it work for Verizon (crosses fingers), let me know if you need any testers
got to dump this touchwiz crap they even build "bing" in to it
i never though i would see the day where "bing" would be the default search on an android
its so odd to go from 2.2 on my vogue to 2.1 on my SGS
that is why i will miss this group
everyone here worked so hard and got out updates so fast i think this is the best group on xda

i agree so that means we need to make it great
i just wish it was all one group because having it broken up by US carrier seams point less it would be easier for everyone to work together if it was one group
if you star developing roms and you need a tester for Verizon Fascinate let me know would love to get the SGS group working as well as this one did

i got my SGS from Best Buy in the US
and it was Free!!! which is the biggest reason i got this phone
Best Buy is running a deal where every Friday for the month of Oct. they are offering a different phone from each US carrier for free with a new 2 year contract
my contract with Verizon ended months ago and just like you i was waiting for a great deal because i was not going to pay $200 for a new phone when i had my vouge that worked great
I've also been following the development here. I am so very thankful for everyones hard work towards making the vogue as up to date as it can be. I last ran Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 [Deodexed] [RLS15] before my phone broke. Somehow the charger I used at work fried the thing and I had to move on. I now have an xperia x10a. I have some mixed feelings about the thing but I guess it is upgrade enough. Anyway. Thanks again. I will still keep reading most of the stuff here on the vogue. That thing was pretty good to me.
when i see posts like this it saddens me because i know there is one less user to continue the legacy of the 6900. however it gladdens me that individuals will keep up with technology.
brings to mind a saying i got from my dad... all technology gets out dated - at that point we can chose to keep it alive for something else, or toss it.
he made that comment to me when my 486box turned Unix bit the big one via lightning strike.
good luck on your new journey sir- congrats on your new technology- may it suit you well.

[Q]Why is this commuinty flourish just now?!

Hi everyone!
It might sound silly and i hope i post it in the right section, but i just bought the S3 mini(N version) and before i buy a new device i check XDA community status, checking for custom roms, root, recovery etc etc....
coming for a very huge community of a flagship device(HTC Desire HD, which had 4.2.2 update just a few days after official google release)
i was disappointed to see not too many roms in the development section especially for the N version (and no fully working CM rom),
but it was still enough, so i bought it and i'm very pleased.
Nowadays i see the community flourish! new N version compatible roms, toolkits, themes, all updated and with constant replays from the chefs,
so a question pops into my head... why now?!
the device was released in November 2012... what took so long?
i do understand it's not a flagship device but still.... i'm wondering...
i know the reason i bought the device right now it's because of it's low price at the moment(about 350$ in Israel).
on the same note i would like to thank all the developers and who ever is contributing to this wonderful community, may it continue to grow!!!
The community's been around for a while. This phone's only about 6 months old, root was gained inside a week, and they were struggling to get a working recovery that didn't cause a soft brick for a couple months. Give the devs time to get us a working CM build.
Sent from Spaceball One.
Chill out, better now than never, take a look at Galaxy Ace, it's from 2010 (?) and still receives new roms and updates. I prefer our phone to be maintained for 2-3 years than have a quick but short span of excitement and then nothing.
let's clear something, i am chill and i praise the devs for the work for how long it will take,
it was all from curiosity! sorry if anyone thought otherwise!
you gave me good answers and i see the development moving on rapidly, may this device will have support for at least a few years.
thanks guys.

Redmi S2 Official Suspended Development

Hey MIUI'ers......
Today, I think I have no words to express the biggest...... What do u call it as......Hmm.... FAILURE OF XIAOMI I guess... Ok, let's go a year or a two back. The time when they launched the great budget camera smartphone- Redmi S2/Y2. This phone overall is a great phone with all the decent entry level specs. From the hardware side, I have no complaints at all. Overall everything was great. BUT, coming to the software, well, that's where the problem began to matter! They provided a 32bit ROM on a 64bit processor! I mean, like for real? Why? What was the matter? Ok, there was a lot of conflict for that issue. Then, it silenced a bit cause we used thought it'll be solved by an OTA update. But guess what? No! Xiaomi claims that their 'users' will lose their valuable data while shifting from a 32bit ROM to 64bit! So, they claimed they won't release the update for 64bit ROM. Well, y'all want our reply for that? Let the data go! We want that 64bit ROM, no matter what! Well ok, even after that, the company promised that they will definitely provide up-to-date software updates, at any cost no matter what! The Android Pie update and the MIUI 11 as well. They promised us users that they will release it before Q1 of the year 2019. We waited for that update eagerly. We were so eager for that update. It was suspended for 1 week. Ok, we'll wait for another. Even the second week. Ok, we'll wait for that next. Even the next, it was suspended. Ok, waiting for the next. And still this continued on and now, Q1 is over and Q2 has begun. And now, Xiaomi claims that they will release it in Q2! And we're like, "WHAT! IS THIS EVEN HAPPENING??? WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM?" We S2/Y2 users have suffered a lot already. We don't have developers working on our phone at all. We just got few developers and we're grateful for them. All of us. But what did you do huh? Didn't provide a 64bit ROM, didn't release the kernel sources properly (most of it is broken) and now, didn't provide up-to-date software updates. You all appointed Beta Testers for this phone right? What happened to them? One leaked the ROM. How are you sure that the others won't? I BET YOU GUYS! ALMOST QUARTER PERCENT OF YOUR REDMI S2 BETA TESTERS DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO TAKE LOGS FROM THEIR PHONE! You appointed them just because they were always active on MI FORUM. And for no other reason. Look at the person's abilities and experience. Don't just look how much time they're online on
"Your Forum."
Judge us by our skills and experience.
And about the 64bit ROM, we don't care about our data. Provide us the ROM.
And about the Android Pie update, please do accept the fact that,
"YOU FAILED". The whole Redmi S2 Beta Team failed! You couldn't keep up to your word.
So...... Yeah, we still hope a little from you that you will release the Pie update soon!
To Moderators: This may seem a little bit rude, but please, once, just for once stand in our position and think about this and please do not delete this
thread! Kindly understand us users!
Even you guys would've done the same if you owned this device.
Also please do check out the thread in Mi Forum.
Thank you
This is it!
You said what all of us wanted to say.
All of us don't understand what is the problem with S2/Y2 'cause is a really amazing phone, but that haven't an support.
It's so hard develop a 64-bit rom for a phone that have Snapdragon 625?
It's look like a negligency of Xiaomi...
It's an so singular phone, why it haven't attention?

First, The development is still going on, just that the internal team is ripped. Second, Xiaomi already provided you the right information of this device. While you were buying why don't you ask them is the device came with arm64-v8a or armeabi-v7a?
I'm tired of seeing people post these kind of things because it doesn't even make sense for me.
Xiaomi didn't claim the device come with arm64-v8a. What Xiaomi claim is the device is arm64-v8a capable (64 bit Snapdragon 625)

Introduce yourself! What's your XDA story?

HI you guys are awesome
Well hi all, I'm 'new', but not really that new, since I've been searching through XDA topics on many occasions for quite a few years now. Not sure why it took me so long to actually make an account, but here I am.
So about me - half geek, half creative, F/LOSS enthusiast for over 20 years, full time Linux user since 2006, interested in way to many subjects to ever become a specialist in any of them within at least a dozen of life spans. Hence I don't think I'll ever be able to call myself a developer, but hey, we'll see ;-)
Hello everyone, i'm back here after a long, long time
I used to read alot here when i was 10 - 15 but I think i switched to iOs during 2010s and i never really had my phone in the center of my occupations so i bought some macbook & iphone and i started to learn code. (mostly js)
I would be really happy to help users here, if i can, and discuss about my new device. 2020s seems to be redditable as **** tbh, the xda lost kid became some kind of creative dev who's going back to the r00t
Thank you for everything I have read here over the last years!
More than anything, XDA is a community, and we're all here for different reasons.
Some are here to mod their phone--some joined just to ask a question. Or perhaps, like many, you joined so long ago, you have no idea why you're here (which is totally fine! we've been around for almost a decade). And we're in the process of making XDA more useful to everyone here now that we've moved to much better forum software.
But we'd love to know your XDA story: why are you here, and who are you? What's your day job, what phones do you have, where do you live, what do you like to do for fun? We'd love to get to know you!
Also, be sure to spend some time filling out your profile:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/account/account-details
And also adding what phones you have to your inventory:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/account/xda-devices
thanks and welcome. I'm one of the guys in charge and my DMs are always open if you ever want to chat or even complain.

What's up,
I'm youngspeed and I'm here to further my knowledge on tech. But I also have a few questions.
1 how do I sign in to the app because it redirects me to my browser to confirm authorization but when I do it takes me back to the XDA app but doesn't sign me in. (Update: I was able to sign in so I don't have a question about this anymore)
2 does anyone know how to get Google Camera on the Samsung A10e without rooting or flashing because I have been trying but no success. If there is a way can you send the apk please?
And lastly how do I make a discussion? Thanks

Hello. I have an LG expression 3 and a MotoG 7 power .i am here looking for a ROM or theme for both phones.
A while back I had an AOPk boot animation that was awesome and the alien ROM ( I think) . it had awesome fonts and icons. I was wondering if UI theme kitchen is still around and if either phone is rootable and or would be compatible with the theme kitchen. ?? Its been a while but I really hope you can help me find something . both phones are pretty plain and boring .
Hey All,
I am a Redmi 5 user and I am here in XDA to find a way to root my phone and also see that, if there is any possibility that I can upgrade the Android version as mine is stuck at version 8.
Well i like the internet especially for the opportunity to learn from others and share information with people that equaly appreciate the content as much as i do.
Here i gonna admid i am more on the newby side.. I played around with phones in the past. Mostly following up tutorials of people that really understand what they are doing... And this way i can create something with their help that me on my own would be hard to accomplish... We build on each other in different aspects of life and here i am appreciating to receive knowledge of the ones that are really into electronics/software/programming. ..
Its a strange, extremly complex but logic world that i find myself in when dealing with modifiying electronics .
Thanks for sharing this with me
Hi all,
I was in read-only mode for years and now I had to reply to a post.
I've got a Samsung S8, S20 FE, Chinese Android car head unit. I'm interested in Android apps to make my devices more usable, comfortable and so.
Thanks for everyone

Welcome to XDA!
Have a good read and enjoy!
Hi. I'm a french CS engineer and a Debian addict.
I systematically root all my phones and have a specialization in tuning the iptables to not talk to the GAFAMs. Rooted phones so far : Huawei codenames HAM, NEML51, old samsung phones, a couple of Wiko phones.
I've been following XDA-developers for a decade and decide now to onboard :
* Short-term goal : get some help on a very edge case involving dm-verity and kali nethunter on Nexus5X (bullhead)
* Long-term goal : wait patiently for the day when a full debian phone / ubuntu touch will be available at a relatively low price, and help all along
hi. im just a nobody playing around with his phone 3

Hello!

Hey!
As I always adhere to the rules (haha) I want to introduce myself. I switched (back) from iOS to Android about a year and a half ago and last time I used Android devices was back in 2016.
I have always used Custom ROMs and after using Android again a while I wanted to try that again. I figured out that either I'm a bit outdated in terms of playing around with the system of my device or it has gotten a bit more complicated over the years. However, I need some help and wanted to use this forum.
Best,
mckinley87
Welcome back to XDA and continue to enjoy the forums!
