It is a hit or miss with floating notifications for any apps other than Vivo's.

Nof swipe down to get notifications working on third party launchers

I installed Nova Launcher and Buzz launcher and in none of both the swipe down (or up) works for notifications. No matter what gesture I assign to it, notifications simply don't show. Any idea why it this happening and how to solve it?
Try enabling nova as an accessibility service maybe that helps

Thxs I didn't know Apex should be given accessibility to pull down notifications with Gesture(Swipe Down)!

Don't long press an app icon. I only see that if I long press an icon. Otherwise from playing around with settings I have not come across any way to disable it.

You can install an alternative Home launcher, such as APEX launcher, or NOVA launcher. Both support home screen layout importing, so you don't have to re-arrange apps the way you have them. Widgets will need to be re-made though.
There are more settings available on these apps and you can easily set them both up to look like the stock launcher, or you can set it up how you prefer. I used to use APEX but no longer find the need for it myself.

Custom Launcher bug in emui

I have searched about it a lot but couldn't find anything. Is there a way to fix recents app switcher animation on custom launcher. It's really annoying. Any method like using adb, etc?
I couldn't resolve with Nova but on Microsoft Launcher don't have the issue

Several times a day I had the error where swipe up gesture would get stuck showing the apps and the X and couldn't respond.
Changed to MS and don't have the issue.
I had it both with Nova as a fresh setup and restore from a backup, not sure what else to try to resolve it so changed launcher for now.

Was this the standard swipe up to open app drawer or a gesture you had assigned?

Standard swipe, only additional things I have is swipe up on folders to open certain apps so everything is based on EMUI gestures.

Strange. I use the exact same set up with no problems at all.
Do you use gestures it on screen buttons for your phones navigation?

I installed MS launcher still not fixed. I am talking about the animation when using gestures and using app switcher. It works fine on stock launcher but not on custom launcher.

Ah now I know what you're on about. Yes I get that sometimes, I just swipe back. It's hard to replicate and so infrequent I never put it down to just Nova even when I use Smart Launcher. I'll have to have a play then see if Kevin can't figure out the problem. Having said that in hoping to be on EMUI 10 soon. 7
Guys are you talking about something like this?
When i slide it for recent apps screen, right before showing apps preview, a plain white preview also shown.
So its seems like it flashes, not every time but mostly and its annoying. (There is video inside rar.)

Yes but also the animation of app switching. Like when you swipe for switching app, unlike in stock launcher where there is a transition to app switcher.

I think, i didnt notice the problem with swipe, but even if i disable Nova Launcher and return back Emui, i have still the problem that i mention.
Probably its not caused because of 3.party launcher at least in my case, something else causing that.
Hi guys,
I have a same Bug. I found temporary solution in dev mode. I had all animations to value "0". I changed it to 0,5 and Bug dissappear.

Third party launchers and 4xl gestures

I read several days ago about how the pixel 4/4xl already allows third party launchers to use the native gestures.
I also read that you need to have gestures enabled in order to utilize the new google assistant.
My question is has anyone that has received their new pixel used nova launcher (my all-time fave), enabled native gestures and was able to utilize the new google assistant?
My new 4xl is on a truck for delivery today and I'm pretty excited.
I'm coming from the 3xl so I know it's not a huge upgrade, but I think there's enough to make me happy with the decision.
TIA
It seems that third party launchers aren't compatible with the native gestures. I prefer Nova Launcher as well, but when I use the native gestures to return home I get switched back to the stock launcher.
So what I've ended up doing is go with the button navigation and configured Fluid Navigation Gestures to mimic the default gesture behaviour and hide the button navigation bar. It's been working great so far and Assistant still seems to be working.
Well, that's disappointing.
I'm certainly not interested in a third party gestures app in addition to a third party launcher.
Hopefully nova can update their app so I can use the native gestures while utilizing the new google assistant.
The new assistant is supposed to be awesome, so if nova can't do it right now, I'll be forced to stick with the pixel launcher, which would also be a little disappointing but would be necessary as I value the new assistant more at this point.
Thanks for the response.

Yeah ideally I'd rather not have to install additional programs if I can avoid it, but there was a notice within the Nova Launcher app saying it's beyond their control.
Anyway, maybe things might change when you receive your phone so no harm trying out for yourself. At least the stock launcher is still pretty decent.

Google gestures work fine with nova. You just have to set nova or whatever launcher as your default launcher. It won't switch back to stock launcher on home swipe
So, have you actually done this and, more importantly, does the new assistant work with nova as your launcher?

Hmm...I stand corrected. Not sure why it didn't work when I tried earlier even though I specified Nova as my default, but thanks!
Thanks.
I know I did a duplicate post in the 4 and 4xl forums and appreciate the quick responses.
This is great news and I had not seen this particular question asked anywhere.
Good luck to all!

I tried to use Nova with the new gestures on my Pixel 3 but Nova said that they can't support the new gestures due to Google not making it compatible with 3rd party launchers. Didn't try it on my pixel 4.
Maybe I missed something, how did you get it to work?
I switched to Nova as default and it worked fine. However, the smooth new app animations do not work or look like the pixel launcher animations. System animation in Nova is just the slide.

I had to set it to 3 button navigation, hit home and set nova the default launcher, then re-enable gesture nav. But it is working perfectly for me.
I'm using Nova and the gestures are working fine.
Only thing is can't get rid of the line on the bottom of the home page.

Have you had any issues at all with Action Launcher? I tried using it and certain apps seemed to get stuck. It was very weird, like the app screen got set as the home screen - I could long press on the app screen and make home screen things happen. But I never could get back to actual home screen. I had to reboot.

I did not notice this, but I'm currently using Nova. I do know that you need to actually set the launcher as your default through the settings menu rather than through the launcher. That's the only way I could get it to reliably work.

Question Origin OS launcher and icons ?

Hey guys,
So I just got myself a Vivo X Fold and I'm loving it. The OS feels so good but I was wondering if there was a way to change the icons ? Or even the launcher ? I can install other launchers but somehow can't find a way to set it to default. When I go back home it's still the stock launcher. I wouldn't mind it if I could change the icons but yeah.
Any help would be appreciated !
Thanks and have a nice day.
no and no.. no need to thank me, follow me for more tips.
This option only appears if you have created and signed into your Vivo account:
Go to Settings / Privacy / More Security Settings and toggle "allow alternative launcher". Make sure you go into the privileges for the new launcher and set it to autostart and go into battery and set it for high battery usage.
Hi, i just tried to do that with the launcher, what frcraig said, and it still goes back to the factory launcher. I created vivo account, logged in, allowed alternative launcher, set nova as default launcher and applied the battery savings settings, autostart, etc. Any other ideas?
actually i just went back in and unselected tap the home button to lock the system home screen and now it works!

Thanks a lot, it worked ! I can finally change my icons and launcher !
What alternative launchers out there support two separate screen layouts?
Or... like the stock Vivo launcher, show only one-half of the unfolded screen on the external one.

If I'm not mistaken the same place where the option to allow the launcher to be replaced is. It appears after you enable the first one.

Total Launcher is a good choice. Supports two separate home screens and you can customize everything...
