For those looking for an XDA camera go to http://www.spectec.com.tw/en/camera.htm these cameras are apparently available for pre-order from expansys.

Hi Ian
The XDA does not have SDIO so this cam cannot be used

further to my abortive attempt at being first with news, i received the following this morning.

Does it support recording short video clips ? or it's not designed for that ?

Hi dkam,
does it work?
Friendly greetings,
Lionel

It work well and with video clip (320 x 240) too.

damn $55 that's a good price!. Here people are trying to sell it to $70~80 bucks for that. hell, with that money, I'll go buy myself a regular 1Mpixel camera!

EDIT : XTC Clip - S-ON Indian users, Close to placing THE order

EDITED
Okay, so since root for our S-ON IS's is taking a while, i m sure there are impatient people like my self who want root ASAP.
I was wondering if Indian users here would be interested in pitching in and ordering an XTC Clip to do the needful
We could courier it to each other or sell it in ebay by reducing the cost by 415 INR each time it passes on to the next user.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
People willing so far : 17
: siddroid, eternalhate, nayak.aj, akkin1080, formula1, nikhil007mmus,craynet, amity2kare, ankanb, ragapa97, madhan_raj, incredible.razz, telectroguy, f!rstbl00d, Ameet, ragapa97,
Amruthhr .
Current cost per member for XTC-clip : 415 INR approx
I have taken out info about the PAYG since it would work out more expensive for each individual due to credit purchase at this point of time considering we have enough users
Now for the important part,
I will be ordering the clip today from Raskal, unless Nik_immy would sell us his ref : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14176251&postcount=51 I have mailed him about it and awaiting his reply
LETS GET THIS DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
thanks to knightrocker for providing some much needed info on the PAYG
I am interested but we need more contributors. Many more !!

Exactly ... 20 to 25 atleast for it to make any sense ...
doesn't seem like a very plausible idea, but worth a shot.
I am willing as well (provided we have >=15 users). Even 10 willing users implies that the cost would come down to 800-900 bucks (include shipping etc).

cool... if we get about 15 members, the cost would be 500 bucks .. not a bad deal... cause even if some shops did provide this service they would charge 1000 bucks atleast .. lets just hope it all works out.

Try spreading the word about this thread around guys ... the faster the better
Count me in too!!
I dont own IS yet but thinking of it. Pretty happy with Desire for now.
I was thinking a better way would be if the exchange is made through ebay paisapay with reduction of 600 rupees as it is passed on. that way everyone can eventually make it worth 600 bucks with safety. just sayin...

Okay guys .... some new info has come to my attention....
Raskal from http://phone-tools.cn has come up with an XTC Clip PAYG ... ie Pay As You Go ...
Although it has not been released to the public ( just beta testers ) yet, i think the smarter option would be to wait for this
http://forums.phone-tools.cn/showthread.php/37190-Introducing-XTC-quot-pay-as-you-go-quot-the-cheapest-solution-for-S-OFF-lovers
it costs a fraction of the price of the XTC and we can 'recharge' it with credits as needed.
we have enough people to make this economical... now we just have to wait for the release

By the way for anyone who has their TNT tracking information, you need to track the reference number as a "Customer Reference" not as a "Consignment Number" (which is the default). Also the website would only work properly for me in IE.
Wow that's unbelievably quick, I hope they ship out that quickly here in the US. Would be great to have it before the weekend. Congrats.

Can anyone tell me about this old book?

I have a book published in 1793. Its a compact medical book.
I cannot find any info on the author. Publisher. Or even the book itself. I'm at a lost which is why I'm coming here.
Is it worth anything? Is it rare? What do I have here?
Can anyone put me on the trail at least?
Sent from my SM-N900P
Wow. That is pretty old! I would check your local area/city and see if you can hunt down a historian. Try at universitys, If you can find a professor they may be able to tell you where to go next, or better yet reference you to someone who specializes in old books
How would i go about doing this?
Sent from my SM-N900P
Try going to a uni or college and ask the receptionist if you can arrange a meeting with a history professor, or better yet, the college/uni may have a website where you can find contact details for the professors. Try using that to contact them directly, telling them about the book

Wikipedia on the author:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Elliot_(scientist_and_physician)
"John Elliot MD (1747 – 22 July 1787) was a physician and scientist in eighteenth-century London who was the first person to conjecture that different parts of the retina respond to particular colours of light. However, he was obsessed with Mary Boydell, daughter of the publisher John Boydell, and in 1787 was arrested for attempting to murder her. Although acquitted of attempted murder, he starved himself to death while awaiting trial for assault in Newgate Gaol."
Here's a book about John Elliot M.D:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-Narrative...628?pt=US_Nonfiction_Book&hash=item2574b1222c
Don't expect it to be worth much. Even First Editions don't sell for much more than a few hundred pounds and i bet they are in great condition. See here for comparison:

one plus 'open ears' event London UK

I've been invited to go to London with all expenses paid including hotel by one plus to attend their open ears forum day. They want feedback from customers. I'm not sure of details more than this at this time but when I get more info I will update this thread.
The event is to take place at 10am on 23 September.
Has anyone else here been invited?
Is there anything people would like me to highlight to one plus?

How long do you think it'll take someone to mention the jello effect? Lol
i would like to ask whether they could rebuild the kernel from scratch as if that would fix the inverted display issue. since now they just set the kernel value to inverted only.

maybe they serve jello as dessert after dinner.
On a more serious note, i don't think this event is about kernels or other SW related topics. They want to improve customer support and hear about negative examples from their user base in Europe.
When I applied, I stated that I had contact with customer support once (changing the shipping address) which was not frustrating at all. And still they invited me to the event. As you can probably tell, I was surprised that I was selected.
Hey,
Thanks for asking us!
Maybe this only goes for me but:
I don't really care about 2k displays.
I prefer repairability over water resistance.
Keep the prices as they are.
And the most important of all: Release the OOS camera app on the play store in a way custom roms can have the same image quality as OOS !!
They promise this every time but never actually do it.
Just my 2 cents
Keep the prices by STOP spending useless money on these kind of stupid advertisement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfbgX-5h8xM
Water resistance like ip68 PLEASE!
help me bro! please tell these to oneplus...

I have come down with flu on the way home, when I have recovered I intend to update this post with a full report of what was discussed.

You should ask them to move focus pixel remapping from their camera app into the HAL, so that third party camera apps won't have dots, especially because the ported google camera's HDR+ algorithm amplifies them. damn, too late

G'day Cobbers

G'day
I'm David, and have been a member of XDA since 2006, back when Windows Mobile 5 ruled the forums, and Android hadn't even been thought about.
I currently work in IT Support at a University in Australia. Previously I was a project engineer with a defence contractor. I worked in avionics/electronics, and doing the company IT on the side. I have a B/Eng in IT, and am also qualified to work on aircraft avionics, though I haven't done that for a long time!
I'm obviously Scottish , but moved to Australia in 2001 when I was 21.
I was a BIG fan of the early O2 devices (O2 XDA II, XDA IIs etc), then progressed to HTC WM devices. I even made a few ROMs for the HTC Touch Diamond, which were quite popular
Then when Android was ported to the HD2, I gave it a try, and instantly moved across and never looked back!
I joined the XDA moderator team in 2010, and progressed my way up to Assistant Admin to @MikeChannon (he's not as bad as people say )
The mod team are a great bunch! Keep an eye out for our recruitment notices that go out every now and again
If you need help with anything forum related, please feel free to contact me directly. I can help with name changes, passwords, forum or account issues, pretty much anything

So what’s a Cobber?
In the Yiddish dialect of Hebrew, a cobber is a friend, comrade or good companion. In old Australian slang, a cobber is a good buddy, a pal (‘ga day, cobber!) And in Britain a cobber is someone to take a liking to.
