They could just be going off of default specifications.

IMHO, I would not purchase that thing. I think I got my GPS working perfectly, a little testy at times to catch a fix, but once it starts it works great.

Agreed, but many people have no idea just how difficult it is to figure out how to get a gps fix. I am not too sure how the Kaiser acts but with the Tilt it can be a hassle, especially after flashing a new rom.
I get better GPS reception from my house than phone reception
ok thanks =) saved me $30
Almost needed at times
I have almost considered the external antenna at times but then I would replace the phone first too. I guess not many people rely on GPS that much with this phone. I cannot upgrade to any newer 6.1 roms because I lose my very fast cold fix times for satellites. I really enjoy the gps and the newer roms but had to choose functionality first. Try different radios and roms if you have the patience to see what works best for you. Ive heard some users say this is more of a tilt problem than a TYTNII problem but I have a tilt so I cannot say for sure, but my gps just doesnt work as well with the newer roms. Hope this helps

Poor 3g Reception on HTC Diamond - HELP PLEASE

Hi guys,
Have just got a HTC Diamond. I've noticed it has very poor 3g or sometimes even E or g reception in places where my old phone worked fine.
Am very disappointed with this, as I really like the phone but practicality is also very important.
Is there anything I can do to improve the 3g reception please?
Have a search on this forum using the SEARCH function and put in bout H reception or 3G or bad reception.
I had problems with my HTC Touch Diamond, but after updating to the latest ROM version using the eclub i have found my Diamonds reception alot better.
What version of RADIO is your phone running? START, SETTINGS, SYSTEM TAB, DEVICE INFORMATION.
As far as i can tell from this forum, version 1.00.25.05 is the best RADIO out at the moment.
Hope this helps!

Let us monitor the strength of the radios
Hi!
I think, for me..bull****!
As I can remember from my trinity times (I loved them) there was a programm - I can't remember the name - which gave a lot of information of the radio!
As I used to flash my trinity very often I couldn't remember the rom/cooker which placed this tool!
Any suggenstions? Maybe tnyynt or udK or FInixNOver can remember?!
Thx!

unfortunatley the only improvement you will gain is by updating the radio, make sure you research it well before you attempt it if youre unsure of what youre doing.
Im not sure if i can link to external websites here but check out http://modmydiamond.info/
*mods feel free to remove the link if it violates the sites terms and conditions*

If you want a free, objective way to check the reception in your area BEFORE you lock yourself with a specific carrier, you should really check out “Got Reception?” (http://www.gotreception.com).

There is a thread here somewhere by Da_g (?) that is pretty damn good at getting GPS functioning better.

very poor GPS reception?

Ìs anybody else experiencing very poor GPS reception? Compared to my old HTC Desire, the reception and logging with Sportypal or MyTracks is waaayyyy off. Always! No spikes or something, but really just way off, 20 meters left/right. I have this issue both with stock ROM and Temasek's CM7. It really sucks, logging basically almost becomes unusable for running, because workouts need a lot of post adjustments.
I tried using a utility caled "GPS Test", to download latest GPS coördinates for Assisted GPS, but it actually doesn't make a difference.

You mean before you get a GPS lock at all? Or you mean you get a GPS fix quickly, but it's accurate only after 10-15 minutes?
I get a GPS fix pretty quickly, that's never the problem. Only the accuracy is the major problem.
I get a fix....it takes about 15 mins for accurate loc
Same here i get fix in few second, but way off on the map.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA
I need 2-3 minutes to connect with cm9 but then its ok

@dmxl,
Maybe you can try out this app called FasterFix featured in XDA:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/speed-up-your-gps-fix-with-fasterfix/
CM7 for the 2x comes with europe.pool.ntp.org as GPS server.
If you're not living in Europe your fix time should get better when you change to a server for your region with the FasterFix app (get it from the PlayStore).
In case this won't help either try the GPS Aid app which does tweak some more values - but I've never used it and don't know if it will help or not.

Thanks! I'll Try that, but I do get a fast fix, it just stays inaccurate during the length of the workout.

Yes, I'm located in Europe.

Ok tried with only 2G. Accuracy is even worse. Overall, with either 2G or 3G, it's só bad to such an extent, that it would be more accurate for me to just not use GPS, and draw the line myself in the browser with Sportypal or My Tracks and fill in the minutes of the total duration.
It's basically unusable compared to my old HTC Desire (which I sold, stupid me).
Man oh man, must be a pretty crappy GPS chip....

Hi sir, maybe you can try this app like in NovaHD Aroma setup.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5Eb3VibGUuRmFzdGVyRml4Il0.
So now, you're able to fix your GPS.

Same here, i've used Temasek's CM7 Kang for a loooooong time but switched to Owain's CM9 Kang a couple of weeks ago and ever since i've been getting faster and amazingly accurate fixes, even indoors.
Not sure if that's coincidence or a real improvement though.

GLONASS Confirmed!

Numbers 64 and above (the three satellites on the right) are GLONASS.

Why exactly is GLONASS good for? I googled it a bit, and seemed to be the Russian version of a GPS. Does this pretty much just mean that there are more satellites up there that our phone can connect to/ better GPS reception?

While this may be true in terms of hardware, rarely is it activated within the software which is why everyone was questioning it.

Yeah, better signal, faster position pickup, general redundancy.
