Poweraccu & Case for HTC Wings/S730 ? - HTC Wings

Hello,
is a Poweraccu and a fine Case for HTC Wings/S730 available ?
THX

Nothing ?

There are several cases available for the s730, a horizontal hip case which your phone goes completely inside, and another one that wraps around the phone but still allows for the keyboard to slide out, the cover for the front flips open so you can see inside, but I hate those kind of cases. Quality of the case is good though. I have not seen the HTC one in person but its built for the phone so I would assume its good. There are other cases and you should be able to walk into almost any phone retailer and find a case that will work. For me I usually find myself in shorts year round and they have a perfect pocket for it. I couldnt find a case I liked and passed on one (for now).
I am not sure what a Poweraccu is so I cant really comment on whether or not one is available. HTC makes a nice car charger, you can buy spare batteries, you can also buy different types of wall chargers for the phone. You can also tweek your power settings within the phone...
Not sure if any of that is what you were after but oh well

NO "PowerAccu" >2000 mAh available ?!
What a shame

You mean a battery with more juice? I have seen several fake ones but nothing that will officially work, I havnt looked too hard but all the ones I have seen are fake and the few people have talked about on here were bunk as well, unless I missed a thread which could happen.

New Alu hardcase for XDA

Looks cuwl but I think it would be better without the beltclip:
http://www.innopocket.com/EShop/Main/product.php?ID=63
If you are looking for a sleeker look check out www.proporta.com, they have a design in development , hence the special offer, but you will have to wait a while for the alu case about a month or so, but hey who's complaing when you get freeby!

just got one! its really cool and sleek design...
I ordered the Proporta about 6 or 7 weeks ago. I received nothing since then (apart from the useless neoprene wallet). Looks like it's going to be a long time before it is finnished. I think the Inno looks far better too. I'm thinking about ordering one instead of the Proporta.
Damoncarl, could you please tell if the beltclip could be removed without to much damage?
Does the case have enough room for the extended battery?? 8) thinking of getting one if the proporta case doesn't have room, by the end of the design reveiws... and it looks like you have to keep removing from the case just to charge or use it.
It looks that neither have room for the XDA+battery.
Both the Inno and the Proporta have their pro's and con's. I think the Proporta is better for daily use, you don't need to remove the XDA from the case before usage. The Inno on the other hand gives far better protection since it completely encloses the XDA.
roko,
judging from the design I can't see how the xda can be used/charged from the case, asking cause that's the way I use mine, and everybody uses their case differently...the Inno case looks to provide better protection, (I have four cases I use depending on my daily use, guys tend to stick to one case, women tend to co-ordinate the cases with their outfits and bags!!) and your right in the respect that the Inno looks good, but as always, looks don't mean a thing if it aint practical (men inclusive in my opinion  ) and as you already have the case I'd rather pick your brains on it than have a sales person deliberatley trying to sell me something based on looks....
The Proporta has an opening at the bottom so I guess you can sync/charge and replace the smartcard without having to take it out of the case. Here's a better view...
http://www.proporta.com/Zoom.asp?id=XDAcase1.jpg
But still, it is in developement, images of the final product are not online yet (I asked for them but no response so far). The final product could differ. Wait and see
And so my choice is confirmed, da girl goes proporta! spoke to them today they say no to the batttery space but I guess I can't have all
Hopefully you won't get bored waiting for it (like me)
Did you by any change asked them when the case should be ready for shipping? I keep hearing "probably the next week" :?
roko
Yep, I did ask and was told not for ages as they just rejected the proto-type last week, apparently because you would have to remove the xda from the case for charging etc and that's not what was agreed to design wise....the guy I spoke to was so annoyed he told me not to bother ordering it yet!!! to wait a month but I will... just to have yet another case to co-ordinate.
(as women do  )
Another month
I'll order the Inno so I'll have atleast one case (for the time being)
I've got one (the innopocket case) and I'm very Impressed with it. Although like anything its not perfect.
Here goes an honest review.
If you think the xda is already too big, dont buy this. If you want to protect your machine while carrying it - its like having an armoured tank protecting it! Imagine your dads old tobacco tin in brushed aluminium with a neoprene 1.5mm lining and there it is.
Its very well built - it does have a serious "no messing about belt clip" that you'd have to have serious impacts hit by a car for it to fall off. I'm a cyclist (during the week ; ) - so you'll have to excuse my practical thinking!
I think the only serious damage you could do would be to the antenna, which is the only potruding part, and even then, if it was on your belt that would never happen.
I did however make one major "mod" when I got it, I got out an electric drill and file and made a headphone socket hole straight away!
Being made of aluminium its very easy to do this, in theory you could do the same for the charger connector.
Street Cred
Although its very practical, to be frank I'm embarrased to carry it in "open view" on my belt, because it is ridiculously large. Under your jumper or jacket it acceptable. Or in your baggy Jeans pocket is another fine alternative.
In use
I even answered a few calls while listening to Mp3s in slough town centre last week, obviously the nice thing is that with the standard handsfree headset you can answer the call with the button on the mic pod, and not have to get the damn thing out of the case. Obviously in normal phone use its a pain to "unholster"
I think the main oversight is a lack of a charging hole, I think a pda on a desk with a charger lead hanging out of it is asking for trouble, one slip and your "preciousss" will go swinging to a clattering smash onto the floor, so I'd love to encase it with the innopocket during charging. (I'm getting the drill & file out now!)
Opening it Up
It did seem too much hassle to change tracks on media player by "getting it out of my pocket, opening it up, changing tracks, and closing it etc. So I just listened to my mp3s on "shuffle mode" it would be great if one was designed with buttons integrated into it, perhaps so it slots into the bottom edge connector in the same way as the clip on keyboard.
At times like that I was glad of the volume control on the headphone kit!
The opening up catch is nice and firm, so its very difficult for it to open accidentally, and as it opens "upwards" in theory as long as you are standing or sitting, it wouldnt fall out.
One of my friends did force it open because he didnt understand the way it opens, but in actual fact its made the case easier to use, because the stress exerted on the aluminium hinges if you do this enable you to open it further, to about a 80 degree angle from the closed position. This means that if opened on your belt the xda delivers at 45degrees or so.
Build Quality
I think in terms of build quality it is excellent, and certainly does protect the machine All edges were finished off smoothly, all neoprene stuck down well, definately a quality product.
Capacity
Havent tried it with the extended battery, as it hasnt arrived yet, I'll let you know if it fits, or if it can be modified.
Advantages
1) serious protection
2) serious beltclip that wont fall off in usage
3) Aluminium, lightweight, tough, and easy to mod!
4) Website order to Delivery time (under a week) and thats delivering it by airmail from suppliers in Hong Kong.
Disadvantages
1) Overall Size (too big and roomy - I'd prefer a snugger fit!)
2) Beltclip: My only criticism is that the belt clip cannot be removed, its riveted on, and being aluminium, if you removed it I guess you'd never get it back on. Otherwise its the best engineered beltclip I've ever used, I wish my old Cooltrax mp3 player's case had such a good one.
3) the only downside of course is removing it from the holder. to use it, its not exactly "quick release"
4) usual packaging problem though, when it arrived it looked like it had been opened a dozen times en route, cardboard box was creased and torn "open", but the product was intact and undamaged - I guess customs at several points opened it up to see what it was. You'd hope they'd stick tape back over it. I'd hate to send anything of a greater value that distance!
Opinions
Buy two. One for "on your belt" (modding it for headphone hole)
The other for in a bag or pocket, with the belt clip removed! and mod it for charging/mp3 playback.
The one thing I like about it is that it doesent spoil the look of the thing itself when you're actually using it. The standard O2 case sucks in that regard, and looks disgusting in my opinion. And lets face it the most dangerous aspect of using a phone/pda is putting it down. e.g. falling asleep with it on your lap or chest, or even charging it up.
When its in your hand you hang on to it for grim death. Putting it into the case is the riskiest part, especially cycling along, but hey, even doing that on a pavement is a big risk! And as I mentioned this was a doddle!
Walking along and holstering it is more of an embarrassment risk than a risk of dropping it because as I mentioned, it opens very sensibly.
Possible Improvements...
1) add a hole for charger
2) add a headphone hole
3) make the belt clip removable
4) make it less "thick" (width wise)
5) slots for memory cards inside the case, although there's plenty of room to just have them "floating around" - that said, would you risk an £80 memory card dropping out while you're walking.
6) add a button for skip track for when in mp3 usage
Conclusions
Protection 98%
Practicality 40%
Style 30%
It does "what it says on the tin"
"protect your investment"
Can you please provide a cost for the aloy case for the xda & approximate delivery cost to Australia
Thanks Peter
Follow the previous mentioned link http://www.innopocket.com/EShop/Main/product.php?ID=63 and you will see the price.
I fully agree with Derek's review but like to add a couple of disadvantages:
1) The spring mechanism started to wear out in the case I had. I had to bend them back into shape.
2) Although perfectly padded on the inside there is the possibility of having the metal on the inside come into contact with your screen. Maybe it is just me being clumsy but I was nervous every time the XDA went into or out of the case.
I stopped using it and it is lying around somewhere here.
Robert[/list]
Mine's now laying around as well... climber!
Unfortunetely it wont accommodate the extended battery
Update on the Proporta hardcase:
It seems that the first 1000 will be shippped early July. Hopefully I will be one of the lucky bastards because I'm waiting for it since last January.
http://www.proporta.com/Zoom.asp?id=Alu_XDA.jpg
Hmm... Re the Proporta case, it looks like someone else had my idea about holes for connectors!
It looks a bit slimmer than the innopocket. I'm hoping it has a cutout in the back to allow for the extended battery to poke out as well...
Somehow I dont think they will think of that one, otherwise it looks a much better design. Do let us know with a full on review when you get it Roko....
Hi I got the ali case, the thing is almost twice the width, but I really needed to stop the XDA from crashing out of my pocket, so I tried it for a few days, its like an ejector seat, My xda has hit the ground 6 times in one day, I lost my pen & a big card I had in it. Sorry it has gone in the draw.
Hi, i got my proporta ali case this morning - seems quite nice Very light and doesn't bulk up the device too much! Very strong too, no way i'll loose the screen with this baby on. All connectors/buttons can be got to with the case closed.
Will test it over the next few days!

Cradle / Dock for CDMA Hero

Hey everyone,
I've had my Sprint Hero for about 2 months now and am loving it - I haven't even felt the need to root it yet.
But having bought Mobitobi's awesome sleep/alarm apps from the Market, I'm now searching for a good cradle for my Hero to sit on my nightstand and act as my alarm clock.
I've only found a couple options out there. The best looking one (includes 3.5 stereo out) is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290372582892, but I received it yesterday and realized after many angry emails back and forth to the seller that this dock is actually not specialized for a Hero, but is actually a TP2 dock that the seller claims "some buyers say it works with their Hero too so that's why I listed it that way." Bummer, I know. Why anyone would talk about how awesome this dock is when the phone footprint slot is so huge compared to your phone and is so obviously not stable is beyond me.
The other option that's widely available is this: http://www.wirelessground.com/sherocradle2nd.html?productid=sherocradle2nd&channelid=FROOG, but after this first debacle I'm hesitant to buy.
Have any of you gotten a cradle/dock for your CDMA Hero, and if so, which one, where did you get it, and how well does it work for you? I'm not even interested in a second battery charger, or 3.5 stereo out, but I need something that will keep my phone stable enough to be able to withstand forceful touches of the snooze button on my screen without toppling over!

Nice! I've been searching for this too, but I need a 3.5 mm jack as well. This looks like it fits the bill, and even matches my car stereo (where this will be going).
Up to this point I've been using a dock made for my old htc touch that I hacked by moving the usb jack to the center and flipping it 180 deg.

It's very pretty and a nice price, but the only thing holding it upright is the miniusb connector. That's just not secure enough for me personally. Has anyone else used something different?
I notice they have it in black too, when I followed the link above it takes you to the white for some reason...
Anyone have any pictures of the phone in the doc? Just curious about the fit.

I have the black one on my nightstand at home, if I remember I'll take a pic tonight with it mounted. I was gonna order one online, but found it at BestBuy when I was buying my new bluetooth. I think it was $12
I will re-ask johnsongrantr's question. Are there any horizontal cradles? I currently use my wallet to prop the phone up horizontally at work It actually works well and makes it easier to use things like youtube.

EDIT: Nevermind. It was the GSM version.
that last one says not compatible with Sprint Hero
Since I have yet to find a good cradle, here is what I use in the interim. Albeit it does not provide charging capabilities, or the fact that I have to flip the phone upside down or lay it side ways to charge it, it gets the job done while at work lol
http://androidforums.com/sprint-htc-hero/17311-lol-hero-stand.html
do any cradles allow the use of a case? I have the snap case from the sprint store and wanted a cradle.
I went the Michael's, the craft store and picked up some black modeling clay that hardens in the oven.
I then molded a bunch of the clay together into a horizontal stand, adding a square hole on one side for the charging cable.
Heat fired it in the oven, inserted the cable and added a little hot glue, and viola! I've got my horizontal night stand for my clock applications. Total cost of about $9 I believe in clay.
I've still got to sand it, but because it works and I don't really care if it's smooth, I'm not going to get to sanding anytime soon.
Just an idea. This way, you can make it look however you want.
I am wondering if this one would work:
http://www.thepocketsolution.com/PSI-43943/HTC+Kaiser+Horizontal+Powered+USB+Cradle.html
It has a very similar mini-usb port.

[Q] Best Case for HD2

Can anyone tell me what the best case would be for my HD2, besides an otterbox?
I have the US version of the phone which is longer than the European..
And I have searched everywhere, and I am pretty sure that I read that they stopped making otterboxes for these because everywhere is sold out (I can't even find any on Ebay or Amazon!).
I had my phone for a week and it fell out of my pocket onto my driveway and the screen cracked like a spider web.. So now I have to spend about $150 to get the screen replaced, and I am not willing to do so unless I can get a secure case for it..
Any suggestions?

This should probably be in the 'HD2 Accessories' section, you'll get more info there I guess. I personally use the leather HTC pouch which came free with my phone, and it works extremely well! I've had the phone for a year and not a single scratch on it even though it's constantly in contact with my keys and stuff.
Piel Frama (http://www.pielframa.com/htc-touch-hd-2-imagnum-tan-cases.htm)
I think it's the best!
Sorry, I didn't realize that there was a forum for HD2 accessories...
But those leather cases are more like pouches, right? As in, you still have to pull the phone out to use it, and its more of just a carrying case?
I am looking for something like an OtterBox, with maximum protection and is always on the phone

Oh right, yeah they are but I personally don't find it much trouble. I think there may be one which is more like the otterbox one as well (by HTC) so try it, the leather gives a nice high quality feeling
The Otterbox Defender is a good case, as long as you don't need to get the phone in and out of the case.
It is two pieces, a silicone rubber case, then a hard plastic shell. If you need to change the battery or reboot the phone by pulling the battery, there is a good chance the plastic shell will split or break.
I've been through two of those cases. The first one Otterbox customer service (very nice FWIW) sent me a new one under warranty. After the second one cracked I just didn't bother. Even cracked it protects the phone pretty well.
There just aren't that many cases for the HD2 since every other day HTC comes out with a new phone.

I have a otterbox defender for tmo US HD2 in like-new condition I rarely use & would be open to selling or trading for the right offer. i didn't realize how rare these are now... I've checked ebay several times over the last couple months trying to see what they sell for, but i haven't seen a single one up there!
Id love to trade for a 64gb sandisk microsdxc if anyone would be willing... Id ofcourse put in something else or cash on top of the case to make it fair. any interest, pm me an offer.

I've come across them on ebay every once in awhile but your right, they can be very hard to find even on other websites as well. And then most of the times when you do find them its for the international model which i believe wont fit the US version. I've had some luck with other ebay countries that ship to the US but thats really hit and miss.
A new 64gb sandisk microsdxc will set you back around $95-$135 and a new otterbox would cost around $40-$50 and thats if you can even find it which would be difficult to say the less. I read some reviews of people who didn't like theirs but most seem quite happy with it. Considering that they are hard to find his offer isn't really to high priced especially considering he offered to add money towards the trade. About two months ago I seen a used one go for like $40 on ebay if i remember correctly but then again one sold for only $13 w/ free shipping a couple weeks ago. You can see that here. Worth way more then $13 though, who ever got a steal on that.
Considering our phone has Cornings Gorilla Glass I think there is really no need to go all out. Get a nice full body screen protector such as clear-coat found here and put it in a fairly nice...but not break your bank account nice case. Something around $10 should do. Clear-coat normally has sales/coupons going on so if you do go that route try to look one up. I've had mine in a cheap $5 case since i bought it just after they came out and have even dropped it a few times, luckily my phone still looks like its in mint condition.
Yeah, I didn't mean that I'd only trade it for a 64gb microSD... if anyone wants to make any offer, I'd consider it. I already have a Noreve leather case that I use for my HD2, and I've rarely used the otterbox case, so I figure there's no reason for me to hang on to it.

Smart COVER

I am not looking for a case, I am simply looking for a cover that will turn my screen off when I slap it on, much like the smart cover for ipad, nothing on the back just a cover on the top thats it.
I tried to find it but nothing so far.......anyone found anything similar? I dont need a stand AT ALL, all I need is a cover with a small magnet attached to it, dont need a thick protective case or any other feature! A simple magnetic cover will do!

To be honest OP, I don't think you'll be able to find just the front side cover ala iPad's Smart Cover, because
1) Google + ASUS would be sued by Apple on patent infringement as usual
2) as far as I know, there's no magnetic piece on the side of the N7 for such a cover to "click" onto, so a back cover is needed to be able to stay attached on the N7

I supposed you are right, I am only looking for something similar, it doesnt have to be magnetic cling on like the apples smart cover.
I dont mind a back cover to hold the device, as long as it is not too bulky that is all I am looking for. All the cases I have seen so far are quite flimsy, especially the part holding the device, it just looks so...bulky, almost feel loose to be honest!
The one I found on amazon.com is exactly what i am looking for, however they do not ship to canada as i previously mentioned the one you showed is fairly good i guess, do you happen to have one yourself by chance? If so, how is the "smart" function working out for n7? I have heard a lot of so called smart covers arent really working as intended, Often times they just dont turn off or on lol.
Anyways thanks for showing me that.

the nexus 7 has a magnetic sensor in a specific place and smart covers have a corresponding magnet in the correct place on the front cover. When sensor detects magnet it turns off screen.

I didn't end up getting this case as I found it too flimsy (like you said with a lot of current N7 cases). I ended up opting for a clear hard case just for the base side of the N7, but it hasn't arrived yet. And since I didn't buy this, I can't comment on the smart cover functionality unfortunately. The Amazon one does look awesome. I guess if worst case scenario, if you have family or friends in the States that you can ship the case to them, and then have them mail it to you later, that'd work. Just a lot more hassle obviously.

Guess i will just have to wait till they have the same kind of product in canada lol, it DOES look perfect from the pictures, hopefully places like bestbuy will have n7 accessories soon so i can see them hands on hehe
Ya no kidding. The device is still new and unfortunately I dropped my N7 for the first time last Friday...I was completely shaken and pretty upset at how stupid I was lol. Screen is fine but the 3 out of the 4 sides have scuff marks now. Sigh...just couldn't wait till I got my case :crying:
You can get it from Hong Kong if you're not in a hurry. I just bought one. $1.25 + 11.99 shipping to Canada

[Q] Advice for best wireless charger

best wireless charger? should you take the original samsung or is there a valid alternative? I would like to not risk ruining the USB port for prolonged use.
"Best" is always is arguable/opinionated. First one I ever bought (for my Note 5) was by Chotech. That thing overheated itself & my phone. I'm sure there are good 3rd party chargers out there now but I won't try them again (not anytime soon anyway).
I'm not a fan of the past 2 Samsung ones (the bulky one that flips up & the one that stands up). The one I prefer is the generation right before those, the round fast charge one that just lays flat & uses micro USB. It has a fan built in that turns on when using fast charge. Only thing I don't like about it is the LED is bright with the lights off but I can live with that.
Unfortunately if you want to find one you have to be careful as there was many clones of them from China (not sure if they are still cloning them) but you can find genuine ones for $15 on ebay. I have 4 of them now.
how can you tell if it is genuine for 15$? it probobly copy..

It's an old model that's not sold/manufacturered anymore so price has gone way down. There are sellers who purchased large surplus lots of these. New in box but the boxes have damage.
At the time when these were still fairly new, the clones had completely different style boxes & usually did not come with the a fast charging adapter & cable. The font on the clones also looked slightly different.
I purchased my first one back when these came out so I know what the box looks like on the genuine ones. There were 2 style boxes but look basically the same, just minor color difference. And IIRC the clones did not have fans inside them.

Many thanks for this advice. Could you possibly point us to any sellers?

I also use this exact charger at home and work. It is the only "fast charger" that works with a thicker case like the Defender and Samsung Rugged protective case. You still need to find the "sweet spot" for it to charge (which gets easy to find when charging daily) with the thicker case but it does work.

Unfortunately no, the sellers I purchased from are sold out. Search for "PN920TBEGUS" & look for the boxes like the one attached. There's also a newer version that looks similar but has a blue rubber ring. I think Amazon & B&H Photo still sells them.

Yup that's the only downside but not a big deal for me. The newer chargers have 2-3 coils where as this one only has 1 coil placement.
So I've picked up 3 Seneo wireless chargers lately. 2 for home and 1 for work. So far they are all pretty good. Most recently this - https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charger-Seneo-Adapter-Standard/dp/B075VPGKMT which can be used flat or standing up.
