loud tone when pressing call end button - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

or any on screen buttons in the HTC dialer. anyone know how to get rid of it? its supppper annoying

A little more information would be helpful -
1. does this tone happen when you press a button while on a call?
2. if it does - does your other party hear it or only you?
3. what buttons does it happen on touch screen buttons or only the buttons on the front of the phone?
4. is this when you have speaker phone on or a headset or simply using the phone?
5. is it only when you hang up or any button at any time while on a call?
6. do the buttons make normal sounds when you are NOT on a call?
7. have you turned off sound on your buttons - have you at least tried this to see if it kills the problem?
Bill

when in the dialer go Menu->Options then Keypad: Off

ahh keypad tones off got rid of the annoying beep lol thanks! wish there was a way i keep the beep for the numeric keypad without the obnoxious beep that came out of the speakerphone part rather than the ear piece when backspace/ call history/ speed dial is pressed

jut realized it still makes the annoying noise when it connects to a call

i found that someone had my exact problem on a wings smartphone. they edited the registires in order to turn it off. i played arround with mine all day but no luck. here is the thread if anyone can apply it to a kaiser id be very greatful!

HELP: T-Mobile Wing can't answer phone when I slide keyboard in

I don't know if there's a setting I missed or is this a major bug but if my phone's keyboard is slid out and my phone rings, I slide the keyboard in then wait for the phone to switch from landscape to portrait. Once it does what it does, I can no longer answer the call. I've tried hitting the "Answer" on the screen, the shortcut key assigned to it, and the green phone. I end up missing the call. Is this normal or is there a setting I can set?
Also, when I'm editing a contact and accidentally hit call, it will call the person first before I can cancel the call. I've repeatedly hit the red phone button and the "End Call" but it doesn't work until the call connects first. On all the previous phones I've ever owned and played with, I can cancel the call anytime before the call connects. Is this normal with this phone?

I thought that I remembered having the same thing happen, but in fact when I just tested I was able to slide the keyboard in and answer the call. There is just a little delay, but it did work for me after about 3 seconds. It even worked with 1 key press, and not repeatedly pressing the send key.

I think this is the same thing, just a little delay. I do this all the time and I just keep hitting end. It will always quit before it actually starts dialing.

Is there a single button to silence the sound (from SMS or others)?

I've got a wav recording of my baby laughing as my SMS incoming message sound which is around 10seconds long.
In my old sony ericsson phone (ordinary phones), whenever I receive a message, I just press any button and it stops the sound. I love the longer sound but on certain occassions, like in my office, I would like to turn off the sound using a single button.
With the Kaiser, I tried to press all buttons but it can't be silenced right away. It has to play the recording until the end. My option is to go to the HTC home plugin / audio, then set it to silent mode, which may take a little longer, or I just try to cover the speaker with my hand. biggrin.gif
Would you know of any shortcuts to stopping the sound?
Thanks.
Have you tried moving the wheel on the left down-wards?
Thats what I do when my phone "rings" when someone calls... just knock the wheel down and it silences it
tried it, didn't work.
thanks..
Same here. I chose a song as my incoming SMS that was 3 minutes long. I had to go to the notification settings page to silence it.
Any help would be appreciated.
As the guy above said, scroll the wheel down a turn or two. That silences incoming call alerts.
(And a 3 minute song as a ringtone is not the best idea. Edit it down to 20 seconds)

That didn't work for me with SMS. I scrolled down, up and hit every button on the device and it still wouldn't work. I edited down to about 10 seconds. That's well long enough for an SMS.
same problem
I’ve the same problem with my tytn.....if I don’t have a long sound I don’t see a new sms or mms even if sometimes the short sound it’s better!
also I’ve tried all buttons but they wouldn't work!
So...if don’t have any hardware solution…could I have some chance for a software solution?
How about just leaving you phone on vibrate when at work instead of disturbing everyone around you
Easy solution to you problem and your coworkers will probably thank you for it...
Or you know, using Audacity to pare down the length of the sound file?
thx for the answers....
i work in a lonely room...and the song volume isn't a problem...but i leave the phone everywhere...so i would like to stop the music sound when i've find the phone and i've read the new message!

Mobile phones don't have dial tones, unless you have a Jitterbug phone. You are hearing some other tone, or maybe the sound you are hearing is a byproduct of some part of the phone. For example, on the older model Motorola V3's the EL keypad backlight would emit a low volume tone when lit. Does your "dial tone" stop when the backlight dims or shuts off when in a call? If so then you are hearing the backlight. Most people can't hear it because it is above the range of normal human hearing.
If it is the backlight you are hearing you cannot increase the sound. It is what it is.

props for knowledge of the jitterbug.

If turning the volume wheel does not do it then there is no way I know of.
-Jay
not just 'a bit silent' then?
no it is realy silent .jou can hear it but if you hold your phone 20-30cm from you ,you cant hear it .
also when putting it on speaker you cant hear it.(because then you are more than 30 cm from your phone.)
when the pickup the sound is fine and loud.
I have the same probleme with my blackstone and its very annoying. if there is some noise you cant heard dial tone when you call someone.

Ringtone disappears when scroll wheel is moved?????

Hi All
I recently lost my ringtone and found a solution on here, so all is fine.....EXCEPT when the phone rings, the ringtone disappears when the scroll wheel (if that's what it's called) is moved.
Has anyone else come across this problem and if so found a fix???
The phone carries on ringing silently if I move the wheel, it's just the sound that disappears and that's obviously not very good if it's in my pocket!!
I've tried pressing all the other buttons when it's ringing to see if they make the sound disappear but they don't, it's only the wheel
Any one got any ideas????
Thanks
That's not a bug.
That's a feature...
My TyTN1 did that.
My P3600 did that.
My TyTN2 Does that.
It's the only way of making the phone go QUIET without canceling the call.
Quite usefull actually....
Honestly!!??
It's a feature??
How do I turn it off????
I like that feature very much, too. When someone calls and I don't want to talk to them I just hit the scroll wheel to silence the call but let it continue ringing for them. That way they don't know I'm ignoring them. I can plausibly be out of range of my phone or some other excuse. If you press the end key or hit "ignore" on the phone screen it sends the call immediately to voicemail and the person on the other line can tell they've been actively ignored...
I don't know if it's possible to turn it off.
ive always found it usefull. but sometimes it can be annoying as OP said when its in your pocket

The beginning of every sad story I've heard about screen cracks and phone damage, has always begun with , Well the phone was in my pocket and..............
When I pull my phone from it's padded holster I always look at the caller id first and do not wish to disturb other people while I decide. I appreciate the feature
I'm guessing it's a feature that can't be turned off then

Screen Timeout During Calls (speakerphone/bluetooth/headphones)

I use the phone a lot handsfree for work and it bugs me when the screen times out and locks on a handsfree call. I can't then easily mute, unmute, look at call durations, enter digits etc. without interacting with the phone in a clunky manner.
As an example i might be on a long conference call on speakerphone, mute my audio input to get up and walk around a little and then have to quickly unmute. To do this i have to press the side volume button and then the on screen unmute which sounds easy but can make for an awkward second or so of silence.
Basically i want the screen to stay on when in call and the proximity sensor detects it's not against my face.
Samsung has a phone app option for this i remember (keep screen on during calls).
Any suggestions ?

Use a bluetooth earpiece/headset and add that as a trusted device. All the time it is on and connected the phone won't lock. Then just set screen sleep to something more appropriate like 5 minutes..
you could try something like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ndtsoft.sensor&hl=en
i haven't tried it, but i think it could solve your problem
EDIT: i just tried an app called "WaveUP" and it did the trick. also has a lot of other cool features, as well.
