Download - HERALD-USPL-beta3

How-To Flash the HERALD-USPL-beta3:
Download and extract both files.
Place the extracted Open Touch v2.5 Biggy.nbh into the Herald-uspl-beta3/RUU folder.
Move the entire Herald-uspl-beta3 folder to the root of the c:\.
Follow the simple readme file.

If your device is already HARD-SPL read the following link before flashing.

How to turn off QuickMenu
/Start/QuickMenu/Exit
It will prompt you with "Exit QuickMenu?
Choose yes and it will not startup again even after a reboot.
Things to do after flashing your device:
Network Wizard
Go to \Start\Settings\Connections\Network Wizard
Choose your location and provider, do not reset the device when prompted.
Connections
Go to \Start\Settings\Connections\Connections
Once completed save and exit
Touchflo
Go to \Start\Programs\TouchFlo
Click on the TFSettings
Choose your view mode from the drop down menu and if you want sound while scrolling then check the Enable sound, if not don't worry about it.
Click ok to save, do not reset your device.
Go to \Start\Programs\TouchFlo
Click on Touchsettings
This part has already been filled out for you, just click on the save button to exit.
This step is needed so please perform it...
Now your ready to reset your device.

Create a rom that will offer the following to end users.
Faster
Any body can build a rom faster than the stock one, but will it be more stable?
Looks slick
A phone that will have an interface your proud to show off to your family and friends.
Storage
Extra storage space in case you were not able to buy a sd card.
Easy to use
Comes with apps already install so people do not have to waste too much time downloading extra apps and etc.
Stable
A rom that you will not have to soft reset daily. Fixing common issues found with the original rom.
Fun
A rom with extra games so when your stuck some where and there is nothing to do, you can always play games.

Notice!
1. The biggy version is comming in about 30 min or so.
2. If you run into issues, please try not to double post.
If you don't hear back just PM me directly.

4. If you don't like my rom for some reason, please post it here only and state why you don't like about it.

7. My roms do not include the rgu files so you will not be able to recook them. I will release a version with the rgu's included once v3.0 has been released.

could you please check if Bluetooth is working eg. switching on off by using profiles and if the the volume control for call in is working? I had problems with previous versions.

bluetooth is working (tested) now u can see bluetooth icon when its on
in call volume control is working (tested) since HTC phone slider is included

Can you advise what the Storage and Program memory details are after install please?
Totals and Free would be great thanks.

Btw, I searched a little and saw some ROMs for other devices seeming to have a different titanium layout. E.g. take a look at this Blackstone ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=504151 - it seeams cleaner and the fonts smaller (especially the selected time-plugin is thinner, right?). Is this ROM-specific or can I change the size/font etc in the OS itself? I would love to see such a GUI in your ROM, looks perfect!
Whenever you find time to change that, be sure of a donation from my side

Thats a normal CHOME.. Its also a VGA device so u can expect a cleaner & smooth fonts..

yup, after the first days I must say everything is workin out really nice in the lean cut ROM. the only problem is the address field of SMS/MMS and eMail:
1st problem:
when I type in an address, both wm6.5 outlook AND the HTC keyboard suggest me names from my address book. wouldn't be too bad if it wouldn't crash the new message if I select a name from the HTC keyboard. it returns to CHome afterwards, as if I never left it..
2nd problem:
same field, if I type in a NEW address or telephone number and there is no matching address book entry, the message crashes too.
-> I cannot send messages to people which aren't in my address book.
thats all not too bad and I can live with it, I just wonder if there's a fix. is it maybe possible to switch one of the name suggestions (winmo OR HTC) off? maybe they are also the reason for problem no. 2? (I tried switchin HTC word suggestion off, no change, still suggesting names from my address book)
anyone has the same issues?

Donot select the suggestions from HTC Keyboard.. let me look for a workaround.

This is an HTC Touch Pro 2 ROM, based on Windows Mobile 6.5. The current build number and date can be seen in the title of this thread.
I always build my ROMs with three main goals.
Eye candy.
Speed!
Smoothness, consistency and good esthetics.
I preconfigure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go, how I'd want it. So, expect the backlight to be set at the maximum brightness, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications to already be set.
You will find a new ROM posted here every few days, as I always update them with the latest "ingredients" that come down the pipe, from either Microsoft or HTC. Because of that, I recommend learning to backup your settings with either Sashimi or UC (User Customization).
I usually make 3 versions of the ROM. If you don't see one in the download directory, it either means I haven't uploaded it OR I'm not making one for the current release yet.
Here are the different versions and what they mean.
"Standard" includes the new TF3D2 (Rhodium Manila) along with the standard Windows Mobile 6.5 today plugin (Titanium)
"StandardM2.5" includes the new TF3D2.5 (Leo Manila) which is in its VERY early stages of development. I provide this ROM solely as a toy and not something I actively support.
"StandardM2.6" includes the new TF3D2.6 (Hero Manila) which is in its VERY VERY VERY early stages of development. I provide this ROM solely as a toy and not something I actively support. Lots of things don't work in it...
"Titanium" only includes the Titanium today plugin. No Manila in this version.

Ok, so I'll be the first to give feedback,
1) Manual Connection setup, not automatic
2) No Youtube working
3) Windows Live not working
4) Number notifications on the mail tab for each mailbox seems to be partially behind each mailbox tab
5) Problems with the dialer, got into options, but only had access to network and sounds, showed all ringtones a corrupt. Then tried to open options again, won't open, can access other things from menu, just not options.
Now on to the good, the speed is great and the memory is great first time I have had more then 70mb free in Sense 2.5 and I have tried several but so far this one is fast.
These are just my first few minutes observations

1. for me work automatic if leo setup does not have your mms option...

2. neither for me but i try this... i change registry
[HKLM/Software/HTC/YouTube/enableMDP]
to 1 then soft reset
then go again and make it 0 again then working..
3. after 2 (Trick of reg) start working windows live and messenger..
4.i do not set mail account i check it if i can or i change the package with an other one..
5. for all options go to settings tab tap menu and then all settings
i have some problem with ringtone too but after of some reset fixed.. i will checked more tomorow..

I just flashed your ROM now, i did a soft reset after the initial completion. I ran the connection setup, t mo key fix and tp2 battery driver.
I can't get windows live mail account to complete. I'm trying the leo dialer cab now.
Will report back in a few minutes...

Can you implement the old text messaging client back? I really don't like the Leo client, if not I'll manage or can we have both??

One issue I have found is that I have no access to MMS, I am on Vodafone UK and after the flash I had the connection manager appear where I selected Vodafone. I can use data connection but no option to send MMS.
I am loving Sense 2.5 though

Poor video performance
This rom has poor video performance like many of the other 28014 and up ROMs. You don't have this problem in your 2.1 manila Rom so I assume you must have left out a tweak....otherwise great rom...I love the 2.1 Rom so I hope you are able to clean up the video performance

Transparent task and softkey bars - Take a 480x800 jpg, rename it to "stwater_480_800.jpg" and make a copy and rename it "homebackground.img". Use Total Commander (in the Tools folder) and copy bothe files to your Windows dir then soft reset to change wallpapers

Bugs:
I forgot to add the updated HTCVolumeControl.DLL to the RX3 Final ROMs, please install the attached patch to get it working again.
COM5 uses a new form of threaded email which is not compatible with Exchange - disable email in Exchange sync for now (thanks to ypsmav for the info).
Rom notes:
Same as above R series rom, except WM 6.5.x.
I've also attached a cab file with a couple of reg values that clear the task and softkey bar .png images. If you change WM 6.5.x theme (Settings>Today>Slect a theme) you can run my cab and soft reset to get transparent bars back. This will also work for WM 6.5 roms too
Please report any bugs or problems found.

This rom seems to be fully working Updated to Office 2010 final and Opera 10 final. Based on Balaji's excellent v6 kitchen (thanks Balaji!), added HTC volume control and HTC Task manager. Leo 2.10 includes Footprints and Documents tabs but Ereader tab is not included. I've also added the Facebook tab by meltwater.
Rotation disabled by default. Rilphone 1.15.25.14 included.
Now cooked with CHT 1.7.1, Rado_K's people tab edit and all mods as seen on R series roms (transparencies all over the place ).

Thanks for that. I believe I uploaded the wrong one (I got the settings link back after discovering my edit to make it point to WM settings instead of manila broke the link) so I should be able to restore that in the next build. This is related to the connection settings issue, and will probably be a deal breaker for most people - have to get a fixed version up tomorrow I think!
As for modifications I'm not sure what to include as I personally prefer the MaxTTM and cab method of modifying - I change my themeing on an almost daily basis and if it's cooked in you can't remove it, only cover it up.

No, only Leo based roms have those tabs. Balaji has kindly let me have his kitchen, which is Leo 2.10 based, as his HD has sadly died I hope to get a 21895 build version based on his superb rom out quickly, though I personally find those tabs cause just a bit too much slowdown.

Well, after 1 hour testing, result is: WLAN not working, Bluetooth not working, But otherwise ROM looks nice almost like STOCK ROM, u should incude Footprints in next release .

One minor BUG, sometimes i get Voice Command error mesage /low memmory issue/ the message is reapearing time to time.... But other is working nice and thanks for Footprints and Reader. Keep up the good work.

The rhodium 2.07 rom was leaked about a month ago, yesterdays release is the official version of that leaked rom. The packages are identical, so there's nothing new.

Leo rom uses manila from the Leo phone (HD2) and Rhodium uses manila taken from the Rhodium device (Touch Pro 2). HD2 has snapdragon processor, TP2 has same processor as our HD's. So Leo manila includes documents, ereader and footprints tabs which cause some slowdown while Rhodium manila is optimised to run on a device without a snapdragon processor. The differences are mentioned in the rom notes sections in post #1 and #2, as is the manila build number at the top of each post.
In terms of what's suitable: the rom forum is full of Leo 2.10 based roms as this has more features and is slightly newer than Rhodium 2.07. However I wanted to cook a Rhodium rom as I find it noticeably faster - I never intended to make a Leo 2.10 based rom but Balaji gave me all the files in his kitchen so it was very easy to make a rom based on his work.

This may not be the most accurate memory check as I'm currently using MaxSense on my phone (I'm 1 of Maxycy's beta testers and skinners).
Anyway memory usage after reset (with MaxSense running):
