brightness widget? - Droid Eris Themes and Apps

anyone know of a brightness widget that works with the eris? Everything I have tried just goes bright, then back to preset level
thanks

That I know of no, sorry, I heard that the problem will be fixed in 2.1 or if we get root I'm sure we can figure out how to disable the sensor somehow...

thanks for the heads up. I will be patient.

[Q] Auto brightness setting disappeared??

Always have had auto brightness on, it works for me.
But, after adding the 'power' widget to the homescreen (which can control brightness settings) and fooling with the brightness a few times, i decided i wanted it set back to auto.
Went into the menus, and there is no tick box for auto anymore, in the brightness setting. Just the slider.
Took the widget off the homescreen, no change. Rebooted, still no change.
What gives?? Anyone else have this happen?
Bell Vibrant
rooted/JM5/launcherpro
EDIT: Solved problem. Was the LCD density, i guess it squashed the box and hid the setting.
the widgets on screens, usually cycles through the different modes
just keep cycling until you get it back
or simply go into Settings > Display > Brightness (make sure check mark is green)
That's the thing though - there is no check box anymore!!
Very curious as to how a system setting could just disappear like that.
Settings - display - brightness and there it is just above the slider on the lrft ?
Is here for me and I also have the brightness widget.

i think it might be JM5 firmware you are using
i'm using the official JH2
I can't help with the problem, but I can say that I'm running JM5 and have the "Automatic brightness adjustment" checkbox in the "Sound and display" settings.

wow, that makes it even more weird and intriguing....
how did the [OP] managed to lose that check box?
Wish i knew. And i want it back! Pretty sure all i did was add the 'power' widget, play with it for a bit, and it was gone.
I am quite certain it was working right after the JM5 flash, although to be completely honest i did not actually check. If it wasn't working i think i would have noticed rather quickly, its pretty obvious when its doing its job.
Added screenshots for the skeptics.
i'm not skeptic, i just can't figure out how can it has dissapeared on its own, yet i can't figure out which software could do something like that.
seems like worse case scenario is to reflash the ROM again to get it back
Was it there after you changed your font? Try the stock one.
Alright, i figured it out. Might add this over in the pertinent thread, too.
It was the LCD density setting. I guess it squashed the box down so much that the check box was entirely hidden! Man, what an odd problem.
Thanks for the help!
Wow, thanks for sharing
this is something worth being Noted on the Wiki
anyone got time to make an entry?
No problem, i'd add it myself if i knew where to put it...?
Thanks for posting the solution! I ran into the same problem and i was perplexed as to what happened.

Unlock results in very dark screen

I recently installed widgetlocker, very cool app, but since then whenever I unlock the screen it come on very dark. I have to open up the quick settings and then hit brightness and press the slider to fix it every time. Not sure where to fix this in setting and not sure if it is widgetlocker related or not.
Thanks.

Wouldn't imagine so, since I use it on mine and have never noticed this.
I uninstalled and reinstalled widgetlocker and this does not fix the problem. When I say dark, I mean darker than if you pull the bar in the settings menu all the way to the left. really dark. And a reboot does not fix it either.
more info: when I lock with the app the screen is bright, when the power button is pressed the screen does this fancy fade animation and blanks. When the screen unlock shows up the brighten animation, assuming tha there is supposeed to be one, does not run.
did a restore from a backup and the problem went away. I have not reinstalled widgetlocker and I am not sure that I will
sent from my nookcolor using the xda app

[Q] Screen Brightness will not stay set on rooted NC

I would like to thank everyone for the knowledge and information that can be found in this forum. I bought the NC to learn the android OS and rooting ... all from this forum.
All has went well until I installed widgetlocker on my rooted NC. After install the screen brightness will not stay set, after 2 minutes it dims to almost dark. I can reboot and it is still dim, change the brightness in setting and everything is good until screen timeout, then its dim until I reset it under settings.
Any ideas? I uninstalled widget locker went back to using Zeam as my launcher just like it was before widgetlocker, but no luck.
Well, this is one way to get my post count up
Really? anyone want to guess.
never did find the problem, I just restored to stock and rooted again. It fixed whatever it was that I broke.
Good news you are not alone, bad news is that I'm not much help.
I could not figure it out so I just did a restore from a previous backup and then installed what was missing from my titanium app backups. If you decide to reset and start over, install Titanium backup and backup your apps first. At least this way you don't have redownload your apps and it can also restore your apps data.
Thanks gedster314 for the moral support, I had to start all over again, but all seems well now. Never did figure out what happened.
Excuse the newbe question here, but if I do a Rom backup from Rom Manager and a complete system and apps backup with Titanium backup and this or something similar happens, Can I just restore from these and be back to where I was when I did the backups?
I had the same problem, it's because it sets the brightness to Auto which is of no use on the Nook since it doesn't have a light sensor.
I just added a widget to the home screen that let me toggle the brightness back to manual. Fixed it up, even after removing the widget.

It's not a setting in 2.1 so you cant find it on the Nook as is.
Just download a widget from the market to toggle brightness.
Thanks, next time I won't have to go through all this again ... just toggle

How to remove brightness slider from notification panel

half the notification panel is unusable. unless im missing something there appears to be no way to remove the brightness slider. i know it was a setting on my note3. also cant find a way to remove the stupid s-finder and quick connect buttons. please tell me im missing a setting somewhere for these. they are a giant waste of space.

That's correct. There is no way to remove it unless you do some modding. Stupid move they took out that option. What were the DA's thinking!?
It's not a solution, but when using Lux Brightness to control auto-brightness, it has a module show up in the notifications pull-down. It did remove the stock slider, though I haven't gained any space.
However I do prefer Lux when it comes to brightness control (set to Dynamic) and their module at least is more informative than the stock one.
I'm also not sure if the phone can go into the overbright mode any longer but I've never had outdoor visibility issues.
I was actually able to get rid of it without modding by installing Lux Auto Brightness & using it to manage my brightness. Once I set it up the Samsung one in the notification panel disappeared. Also, with Lux, you can have it set to not show in the notification panel, which is what I've done.
If you root and install xposed framework, you can disable the S planner portion, but no luck with brightness yet.
Which module or option under xposed framework did you use to get rid of the s finder and quick connect?
Thanks

Download wanam xposed from play store. Then it's in notifications.
Here is the option. Among many.
For some reason i dont see that option for my wanam xposed
....
Sorry figured it out. I installed wanam from xposed itself. Need to go to the playstore and upgrade the program from there.
He's right. Installing LUX does remove the stock brightness bar but the thing is, the LUX bar isn't all that pretty either...

In the Lux settings you can disable their bar once it's there.

[Q] Help with Ambient Display and CM12

Hello Guys! I installed one of the CM12 bases ROMs for our device (Candy), and I like it a lot, everything worked super... BUT...
After fidgetting around with the phone, Ambient Display no longer seems to work. I've tried to un-do all the changes that I did, but to no avail. Ambient Display just quit working. And yes, the setting is of course marked as "On" on Lights and Display Settings.
Any help on how to fix this? I suspect it may be something very silly...
Thanks in advance.
EDIT - Solve the problem. I somehow disabled the lockscreen without noticing, and Ambient Display doesn't work when the lockscreen is disabled. This is so silly that this here should probably be deleted. Thanks.
