[Q] Acer Liquid detailed specifications - Liquid S100 General

Since Google refuses to sell the Nexus One in Europe , I'm considering to buy an Acer Liquid.
The liquid is the only one Qualcomm Snapdragon 8250 terminal available here.
Others smartphones have been announced, but they will not be available before months...
However Acer refuses to give out detailed spec of the phone and I prefer to know what I'm buying with the A1. The informations available on Acer's web site are less than useful.
If the users that have one here could tel me more about the A1 spec, it would be nice.
In particular I want to know more about the sensors and the chipsets used...
- accelerometer : yes a guess
- digital compass : does the A1 have one ?
- light sensor : ?
- proximity sensor : ?
And do you know for real what chipset they used for:
- bluetooth
- wifi
- and the sensors
Thanks,
Herbert

- accelerometer : yes
- digital compass : yes
- light sensor : yes
- proximity sensor : yes

I am in Canada, when i saw the specs of Acer Liquid I saw that it had 768Mhz processor. But when I was thinking of buying it i saw that I has 1Ghz processor (in expansys). Is there a different version in each continent?

nope, its a 1Ghz CPU underclocked to 768mhz... with custom kernel there's many of us using it at 920 or 998mhz... some can handle it, some cant!

CPU is same Quadcomm as the Nexus one, but underclocked. There is custom kernel for 1 GHz, but not all of Liquids are stable at this rate, but most of them are stable at 940 MHz.
The wifi and bluetooth (and hidden FM radio receiver) are provided by Broadcom 4325 chip (Nexus One has 4329 and the difference is that it has also FM radio transmitter).
About sensors I am not sure.

Sensors
Yes it has light and prox sensors. The auto brightness is sketchy but the proximity sensor is awesome, stops face dialing perfectly.

Great bang for buck, but if you are looking for a 1GHz Snapdragon in Europe, get the Desire.
Some Liquids can be overclocked to 1GHz, some can't. It is luck of the draw.

It's a resistive screen.
I've been looking at this phone for a while, and now that it's out, I'm having a heck of a time finding someone who sells it that has it in stock ( tried the websites suggested here on their website). I did find it for $517, out of stock, on provantage.com but it doesn't seem like this phone is very accessible
I have no reason to be a skeptic as to this phone's ability to get Tmo's 3g. The specifications show that it has the 1700/2100 bands required for the service, but I'd really like to know if anyone has been able to try it out yet and what kind of dl speeds they are getting ( oh, and where you managed to buy one from)
FYI...it has not been released yet. The Pharos forum tech said on 03-31-09:
"The Traveler 137 is due to be released into the market in a couple of months. Unfortunately, we do not have the exact release date at this time. Thank you, Natalie"
Hopefully, they are trying to get WM6.5 on this bad boy for a June release...
when it comes to hardware, i will always check the cpu used
qualcomm = slow, very preformance lag & flickering
Nice shame no physical keyboard and no HTC build...
Agree that HTC & XDA support is important...
Also, it has the same qualcom chip and I wish it had the snapdragon!
FYI...PocketPC Thoughts announced the unlocked Pharos 137 (dual USA 3G & upgradable to WM6.5) finally goes on sale tomorrow at Amazon, Expance, Newegg, etc...
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/mob...ilable-upgradeable-to-windows-mobile-6-5.html
what kind of freaking joke is this??
cant find the phone on amazon, dell, or newegg!
or any places that have the phone "available"!
^looks like Pharos Support replied to U on the their forum: that it would be delayed (again) for 1 week
they better not have anymore delays! i just hate waiting!
otherwise i'm going to get acer f900.
acer f900 uses samsung 533mzh cpu, is that better than qualcom 528mzh?
but f900 only has 256rom/128ram, but i think that is enough?
Does anyone know of any active ROM development for these phones? I would love for someone to cook up a custom build for this phone. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I have not seen any development (yet) for the PT137. It would be on the Pharos forum if there's going to be any cooking...
Note this just went on sale, so not too many have it...
i also have a PT137 and would love to see some rom development but i don't think it's going to happen here at xda. the pharos section in this forum is for the device htc made for them and i don't think htc is making the phones for pharos any more.
i will keep my fingers crossed and hope.

[Solved]The no Gyroscope issue[Solved]

How bad is it that this phone has no gyroscope?
What benefits does it lose towards phones with a gyroscope.
I only had phones with a gyroscope, so I've got no clue. For example I've got the Galaxy Note N7000 at the moment, I play NFS Most Wanted quite often, won't I be able to play that any more? Since I need to tilt my device to the left and right to steer. (Yes I know you can also play using the touch screen).
Edit: Some sites don't list the gyro, hence me making this topic.

What have you ever used a gyroscope in your phone for ? It has it though.

Gyroscope is the same as accelerometer. The difference is
Common accelerometer = 2D motion sensor
Gyroscope = 3D motion sensor.
Average use of gyroscope is the flip to silent feature of a smartphone. Or fishing games.

is that legal...you should check that first
Network operators are capable of zeroing in on the phone by comparing the position of the active SIM card in relation to the antennas that can cover it at any given time. If it's a populated area, the SIM card can be located within a one meter radius. Anywhere else it's probably within a dozen meters interval.
However, this is privileged information of the operators, and usually it can only be accessed by the bodies of law when people's lives are at stake. It is regulated dependable on the country, but I'm pretty sure you as an MNO user cannot access this information.
My idea is only to have GPS constantly active and to have an app that shares your position online, but that's hardly effective because of the battery wasting and can be turned off easily.
I don't think it is possible in any other way.

What's with people's obsession with FM radio ? I mean haven't you heard about TuneIn or similar apps. I mean argument could be about needing an internet but unless you're in the middle of nowhere you'll have cellular provider with DATA plan on it. I mean I am in New York and we're FAR FAR behind other countries and we're having unlimited internet already here with budget companies not to mention premium (Like Simple Mobile vs T-Mobile or H2O vs ATT) so that said I do see a lot of people asking about FM radio and if phone does not have one it's like mehhhh on auto. Anyone care to explain. ?
Now about SGS5. I am proud owner of i337 (It's a SGS4 from ATT) And I am totally happy with it and being an phone junky and was totally in to SGS5 and after hearing everything I must admit I no longer have an urge to get one, I mean forget about significant upgrade, I just no digging lower PPI and no metal in-casing. So I may be skipping this time around. Who knows I may even cheat on Samsung with ....next HTC One ? ......

Well, it costs money to have data, internet radio has a significant delay... Radio is offered for free, I don't want to pay even more to use it.

On top of that, it could prove helpful in an emergency situation where you don't have a data connection and need access to the latest news.

[Q] Xperia SP performance phone

Guys i am new here and i need help in choosing a phone
i previously owned Sony Xperia SP (C5303)

it was not rooted
i only played subway surfer, temple run 2, asphalt 8, stickman basketball
games kind a lame or might be a bit gay for you guys but i just only enjoy simple games
now i am planning to buy a new phone that would have atleast same performace
if would have better performance much appreciated
i have two phones in mind.
one would be Asus phone Zenfone 5
with specs
ASUS ZenFone 5 specs:

My previous phone was Motorola Razr I..it had an intel CPU..since It was running stock-pure android it didn't lag..but not all apps are compartible with intel SoCs because it's architecture is x86... 98% percent of apps would work with intel and others will have bugs
Now, I read that MediaTek CPUs aren't good but I have never tested a phone with that cpu
If I were you and I was about to choose one of those 2 phones, I would pick the Asus just because it will get android 4.4
