[Q] Recovery & Fastboot? - GT540 Optimus Android Development

Does any one know if there is a recovery image out for the GT540? I have been looking everywhere for info on it. Fastboot and a recovery image would mean us poor souls wouldnt be scared to venture out past the rooting and apps2sd and we can finally put some custom ROMs into this phone and make other mods.
So...any info in this?

2.1 baltic (v20_B) with fastboot h ttp://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=184435&view=findpost&p=5304375

Flashing G1 back to factory

I was wondering if I can flash my G1 back to stock form. I have the lastest Cyanogen Stable Mod, which in turn means I have the Danger SPL. Is there a way I can flash it back to stock? I have googled this a couple times and haven't found an answer.
Could someone clarify this for me? And direct me how to do this?
Thanks so much in advance.
Thread moved in G1 Q&A.
There is also an official thread of Cyanogen ROM's where you can ask, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722801

Get yourself a copy of the 1.33.2003 SPL -- it has the same partition layout as stock while being a true engineering bootloader. Boot it into fastboot mode, fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
Then go to developer.htc.com/adp.html, get the img file archive from there and fastboot it to the phone.
This gives you stock with the ability to go back to custom without having to HACK it again.

I am actually sending it in for return, they will charge me $100, if the warranty is void, and since I flashed it, it is. I want to revert it back to fully stock. To see if they catch it. Would it get rid of the custom splash image? And I am guessing I would just google for the original Google Rom?
Thanks for the help guys I got it to work.

[Q] FRG83 + Fastboot oem unlock question

Its been a while since i rooted a nexus one, i rooted mine back when they came out.
A friend of mine wants me to root his, he is running FRG83, will the old method of fastboot oem unlock, flashing a recovery and then flashing a new rom over still work?
I have been scouring the forums for over an hour now and cant seem to find any information on it, did google disable fastboot oem unlock (thats the impression im getting). The only methods i can find are the rage against the cage methods.
Would it be easier just to use this
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
which appearently works with FRG83, then have rom manager flash clockwork mod recovery over, then flash over a new rom? Do i still need to unlock the bootloader with this method?
Yes
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery whateveryouareusing.img
Then you can flash what ever rom you want from the new recover (I suggest Amon RA)

[Q] moving from HD2 to nexus one - questions

Hello,
Yesterday i picked up a used nexus one to replace my hd2 with android. (hd2 was way to big and i fell in love with the custom LED colours in yt vids)
The Phone is set up with stock 2.3.4 android.
My Questions are:
1. What's the easiest way to flash a custom ROM like CM7 7.1 RC (i'm a bit confused with all the howto's and wikis because i have 2.3.4)
2. How to get the colours @ the LED trackball working? it's only flashing white when i get a missing text not even when i got a missed call.
thanks in advance
Just root using your favorite rooting guide, then flash clockworkmod recovery. From there its insanely easy to flash cyan, or many other roms even. But clockworkmod is what you want.
I have just recently figured that one out, some of the nice guys here at xda helped me out alot, it will probably be useful for u

Ok since your on 2.3.4 you'll need to do one of two things unlock the bootloader or downgrade.
If you want to unlock the bootloader just google it then do the following download amon ra http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829 put it in the same directory as fastboot (you'll know what I mean after you unlock the bootloader), and superuser (eclair froyo version) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828 and put it on your SD card. Then go into cmd and go to the directory where you have fastboot then type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (where recovery.img is the name of the file you downloaded earlier) (btw no quotes) "fastboot boot recovery.img" and flash su with the flash zip from sd card option.
If you want to downgrade check the wiki http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Nexus_One/Guides_%26_Tutorials#Unroot_.2F_Restore_your_Nexus then just root with superonleclick rageagainstthecage method.
thanks for the help
i already unlocked the bootloader and installed Amon_RA recovery but when i want to get in recovery i just get a callsign with an android what do?
Read the Wiki, section "Installing Recovery".

[Q] Is Fastboot the answer to my woes?

I want to flash a new radio and kernel to my G1 that is running CM6. My signal is atrocious and I get a few random oddities each day.
I have tried the recovery flash for the radio at least 6 times now in various ways following various guides and every time I do it it crashes my phone and I end up flashing the image, rooting, etc, to get back to CM6. it takes me over an hour to get back to normal and it just plain sucks!
So my question is..... Can I use fastboot flash to flash the image files for the radio and the kernel without being on the special Hboot 1.33.0013d and such?
I was planning to use the instructions from the ezterry kernel page and just want to check that I wont bork up my phone. I seem to recall that the fastboot flash bypasses all the need for FR-remove and such but want a second opinion before I take the dive this way.
Not trying to drive you away from CM 6, but have you tested other ROM to see if it has the same problem or similar.
I personally myself could not get CM6 to work properly on my G1 back when I was trying to use it.
I couldn't get the radio to recovery flash even on the stock ROM after rooting.
I guess I could try a different ROM.
I just now have proven to myself that i cant flash the EzTerry kernel from Rom Manager and clockwork recovery as I am in the midst of yet another image flash, re-root, and such after it wouldn't go past the reboot screen afterwards
This phone is just an extra toy but I am determined to figure it out.
I suppose I will just try the radio.img flash from fastboot tonight when I get home.
As long as I dont brick it I can always start over from scratch.
so I copied the image I want to flash onto the root of my sd card
did the camera+power boot
pressed the back key and I am at the screen with the red fastboot usb box
I plug into the computer (adb already installed and working fine) and go to the command prompt and type
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.0013d.img
the screen says error: cannot load 'hboot-1.33.0013d.img'
Did I put the image file in the wrong place?
Edit: I put it in the root of the computers c: drive and typed
fastboot flash hboot c:\hboot-1.33.0013d.img
seems to have worked.

I got the recoveryand the hboot to flash but damned if I can get any radio to flash.
I get
writing 'radio'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
this is with both version of the radio downloaded from the links in the EzTerry thread
What in the world am I doing wrong that I cannot flash a new radio?
installed the spoofSPL... didnt help
edit: Started over again from scratch, rooted, flashed RA recovery, dangerSPL, then fastbooted and managed to install the hboot and the new radio. I guess CM6 hates the newer radios.
edit: Pretty sure CM6 does hate the radio because now its hung up on the install screen.
off to do more research.
People ... you should read before flashing around.
Ok, let me try to help.
1) As long as you have a fastboot enabled SPL, there is no need to 're-root'. Boot into hboot and flash the things you want.
2) Going to 1.33.0013d you *lose* most of your fastboot capabilities, e.g. flashing a new SPL/radio/recovery is no longer working. The only chance is to flash a signed nbh-file (e.g. fully signed rom)
I suggest you to read Terry' thread carefully (a link is in my signature) and then to retry ...
Btw: If you have installed the "new" radio/spl combo you need an adopted kernel, too, otherwise you will get bootloops.

I managed to get everything work and am running CM6.1+2708 and 0013d with the .27 radio.
Why do we go to the 0013d if it screws up the fastboot? I notice in your signature you are running it also?
And say I want to flash a different rom now? I can only do it from RA recovery, Correct?
But as it stands now I ought to be able to experiment around with the other radio and other roms using recovery without any more issues? Or do they need to have certain parameters?
Once rooted, (to my knowledge) you do not required to re-root it again.
You can use RA Recovery to flash other ROMs with out having to re-root. (as to what I was told) And I recommend RA Recovery instead of ROM Manager/ClockMod Recovery (bad experience with it personnaly).
So as long as the ROM that you want to try is compatible with your current SPL/radio. You should be fine.

[Q] my nexus one stuck with X on reboot

i apply the wrong boot image instead i use a nexus S and my nexus one is stuck forever... -_-..
i tried to recovery on flash boot recovery but the screen also stuck...
below is the file that i use...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139261
my nexus one is 2.3.4.. any kind soul can guide me.
Thanks!!
Why not just start over if you are that stuck, passimg to stock. Or fastboot flash the img.
Passimg back to stock then seeing as you were trying to use this I'm going to suppose you already have an unlocked bootloader so just flash a custom recovery then flash su from recovery all the files you need are in my sig.
