[Q] - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so i have an SGS I9000 and it is second hand.
The phone is unlocked from OPTUS (**** MY LIFE)...
now all i want is to get 3G telstra 850 working....
i have tried flashing different modems etc etc different roms with all bands included etc and stuff...
no luck and even with the phone codes i cant get signal here where i live in australia...
So basically i can get telstra 3g on telstra branded phones and normal unlocked phones from the manufacturers here BUT i cant get telstra 3g through an optus branded phone even if it is unlocked and sadly i cant get optus 3g through an optus phone either here... so...
HOW CAN I GET MY PHONE TO WORK!!!

I have tried several firmware including that 1 and i have had no luck. I believe my problem is hardware lock related when it comes to the radio in the optus version... which means i am ****ed so i am not very happy at all

Flashing Sim Locked Australian Samsung Galaxy S

Hi Guys,
What would be the consequences of flashing JG1 firmware on an Australian bought (From Optus / Singtel) Samsung Galaxy S.
Is it possible to do this and if not is it possible to do this with other firmwares as i wish to root this device and load custom roms.
Thanks,
Draco
Should be fine... I'm got mine on optus too and flashed JFB, worked fine.
Only thing is, I think I'm actually getting more stalls and worse battery life with this firmware. However it's hard to tell if an app/apps are causing it or whether it's the firmware.
I did also flash my optus galaxy .
I used the JFF firmware.
I didnt get any problem during the flash.
But it doesn't mean that it solves the tremendous issues of my phone ....
I think the current one is fine for the present time i might wait until i see some more reviews on the new firmware before I bother to change anything. I also found out the handsets on contract are all unlocked so no issues there.
Cheers,
Draco
just ordered mine today from optus lets see how it goes !!

Help needed unlock

Hello
I have unlocked my s6 by using the metro pcs firmware upgrade method .
I have reflashed the t mobile deoxed version rom .
All was working fine until few hours ago when my phone stopped receiving network .
Reboot didnt work too until i switched on wifi back on .
Is it something to really worry about ?
One more queery: once i unlocked my phone does it mean its permanently unlocked to any network because right now im residing in asia .

I think both questions have the same answer, you can't use any other firmware other than metro pcs. I remember seeing that in a different thread. If you paid it off free and clear call tmobile and they should permanently unlock it for free. I think all you need is your imei or serial number.
So can i reflash the metro pcs firmware and still have the device unlocked ?
I have purchased the unlock code off one of the leading sites on web.
I called T-mobile and pestered the hell out of them and they in return pestered the hell out me, in the end I have an unlocked phone with no flashing this and that.

I can't give you a answer but why not call tmobile like ipaq_101 did? That way you don't need to care what firmware or rom your on, it will be universally unlocked. If long distance calling is a issue you can use the online help, just make sure the first rep you talk to knows you won't stop bothering them until it's unlocked.
Is it not possible to install a ROM and then, say, flash a MetroPCS modem or something? For the record, I'm in the same predicament; I'd like to flash a ROM, but am running stock MetroPCS firmware that allowed me to use an unlock code.

You can flash any compatible ROM. I Odin flashed the MetroPCS firmware only so that I could permanently unlock the SIM. (I found that the T-Mobile Device Unlock is buggy and not exactly permanent). Then I flashed the international "F" version of Alliance ROM along with UniKernel. Been working great!
As long as you don't ever flash a T-Mobile radio, you'll stay unlocked!

T-Mobile stock firmware on SM-G920T factory unlocked version

I recently purchased the G920T factory unlocked version on eBay, is it safe to Odin any T-Mobile stock firmware, any info will be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Once you above a certain firmware you can't go back. What firmware you currently on?
It is currently on G920TUEU3COK1 can I Odin to the latest T-Mobile G920TUVS3DOJC I understand that I can't go back but is it safe and will it function normally, thanks for the reply.
i have this same question because from what ive read 3COK1 is for Cellular South (aka C Spire). while the 3DOJC is for Tmobile, both under the G920t firmware. are you also on tmobile network with this phone?
What are the benefits of flashing T-Mobile firmware on the USA factory unlocked phone? I have this phone on T-Mobile and wifi calling works. I also get great reception. I assume this phone will get Marshmallow months before T-Mobile releases their build

Does this firmware that the device came with (G920TUEU3COK1) have any carrier branding or logos anywhere? Id like to switch if it doesn't have carrier branding

Are you getting LTE on it.
So I flashed the C Spire firmware and it asked for an unlock code. I flashed back to the original tmobile firmware and it is still locked although it was unlocked before, but the device unlock app says its ineligible for unlock now.
Anybody else encountered this?
Call t mobile customer service and ask them. They can adjust their servers and then the unlock app will work.

Were you able to get it unlocked? I plan on doing the same, flashing the unbranded to my t-mobile that is currently unlocked.

I'd advise that you dont.
To unlock it I had to flash back to the original tmobile rom. From the tmobile rom, the device unlock app failed in different ways.
After i called tmobile over and over I got it unlocked (like 2 hours of calling).
Hurts my heart to see all the tmobile bloat, especially when i dont even live in the US, but at least my phone works

Thank you, I guess I'll just sell this one and buy an international unlocked, glad to hear you got your phone working.
Anyone successfully updated this G920TUEU3COK1 US factory unlocked version to marshmallow? I have Samsung Pay, wifi calling, etc. all enabled on mine and would like to update, but also keep the unlocked non-bloated firmware.

Yes its works. However it does add in tmobile bloatware, not bad tho, only about 5 apps

Which method did you use to update the G920TUEU3COK1 US factory unlocked version? Does using the Tmo firmware risk un-unlocking the phone?

Using An AT& T Handset IN UK

Can this be done?
Does it work on all 4G bands.
Better still can it be flashed with a firmware to get rid of anything to do AT&T?

Been awhile since I posted this.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to flash say a Cambodian ROM on an AT&T Note 5?

no idea. i believe i have an at&t note 5 based on what i've discovered after googling my bootloader / pda / csc / baseload version codes, although there's nothing on my hardware/software to suggest anything at&t related. whatever has been done to it means it's working ok for calls and data (except it always says '4g' in the notification bar, even when i'm in an area without 4g!)
I'm trying to find whether i can upgrade to MM (or Nougat when available) without destroying my phone
Does your note 5 have at&t branding on the back?
When you go in sotfware info what rom have you got?
have you ever had any ota updates?
what sim card are you using?
Thanks

Only got it about 2 weeks ago from HK via ebay. No reason to suspect anything until looking at updating to MM. My model type in 'about device' shows as SM-N920F which, after some searching around, doesn't exist. Then unearthed the phone is rooted and possibly from USA via a China unlock process etc etc. Anyway, in answer to your questions:
1. No AT&T logo
2. Software looks stock (i.e. no names that would suggest custom rom)
3. No OTA updates (but then I'm rooted so wouldn't expect any - I believe)
4. 3 (three)

Thanks for the reply.
I was looking on ebay at a 64gb but they all seem to be at&t refurbished. Whatever that means.
I was told an at&t wont update with their sim being in the phone. That's why I asked about yours.
Do you have a link to the one you got?

Yes, you should be seeing a "enter code" sim lock screen. T-mobile uses a unlock app. if your phone was unlocked before on t-mobile it can be unlocked after you flash back to t-mobile firmware.(and may need to run the unlock app).
I have gone back and fort on 2 of my SM-G920T phones between t-mobile and other firmware including the metro PCS SM-G920T1 one so it should work to go back.
Sounds like you need to re-download the stock t-mobile firmware and flash in odin.

99% sure will be locked again once you go back to t-mobile as they use an app to authenticate.

If it was unlocked before on t-mobile you should be good. most you would need to do is run the t-mobile unlock app. just make sure you have a twrp backup just in case you need to go back to the rom that is working.
