[Q] Unlock Code - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Cell Unlocker says they have the unlock code for the Vivid with a 100% guarantee and they say it's permanent. Is this the same unlock code that we need?

That's likely a SIM unlock code, which will allow the phone to work with a carrier other than the one that sold it. There's also a bootloader unlock code that we're supposed to be able to get direct from HTC at htcdev.com that will allow us to flash custom software to the phone, but right now nobody seems to have succeeded in getting that.

As bjg222 said. That is sim unlock to use it on another GSM carrier.

Yeah, most reports so far say that the AT&T version gives an error when going through the process on htcdev.com. (Haven't tried it personally, my phone won't be here till tomorrow)

I did go through the HTCDev.com site and followed the directions to submit for a Bootloader Unlock Code. It does error out say CID Not Allowed. This doesnt surprise me give the phone launched on Sunday.

I'm actually looking for a SIM unlock so I can use the Raider with a non Bell SIM. Tried Cellunlocker.net and despite the site saying they have it (and paying for it) I was emailed a couple of days later with a refund saying they don't have it yet.
Anyone know of a site that has the unlock code?

Root and carrier unlock are different things. Carrier unlock requires a code from your provider.

Would he need to do a carrier unlock even in the case he installs a new ROM on to it? (even the ODIN One-Click stock ROM?)
Sorry, just curious myself!
What he describes is the fact that in 2.1 ROM, carrier unlock code is very easy to extract from the phone (it is not encrypted). But once you flash to any 2.2 ROMs, the unlock code is now encrypted and much difficult to extract but still doable.
Flash back to 2.1 will not give you back the encrypted unlock code. So, it is important that get get the unlock code while still in 2.1 and write it down somewhere.
There are instuctions posted in dev forum about how to extract the encrypted unlock code in 2.2.
Regardless which ROM you are on, your unlock code stays the same unless you flash to a custom ROM that is not properly ported to Captivate and it will likely destroy your IMEI, product code and unlock code.

Ah I see! So much like the CM7 ROM then
So I'm guessing my phone was already unlocked somehow beforehand...
Call ATT, make up some BS about going to Europe on a trip. Tell them you already bought a prepaid sim card for an international carrier and you need the sim unlock code for your phone.

Custom ROM has nothing to do with unlock status.
Exactly, that's what I'm meaning
I've never unlocked my phone, yet it's unlocked.

How do you know it's unlocked? Are you using it on a different carrier than when you first purchased it? Are you using prepaid SIMs in it? That's what carrier unlocking allows. Rooting allows access to the base OS so you can run certain apps and make mods that involve the system. You can be rooted and locked or unlocked and you can be locked or unlocked and not rooted. One has nothing to do with the other.
I never said they had anything to do with each other, I'm much aware of how they both work. I'm both rooted and unlocked (not bound to any carrier, and yes I use prepaid SIMs).

if your phone has root access simply download galaxy s unlock from the market by helroz and run it. it's pretty simple. to know if you have successfully unlock your phone just dial *#7465625# it should should show network lock off. and you"re good to go any carrier sim you want that supports your phone baseband. if you're not at&t way to go....

Are you on a custom CID ? On a custom ROM? If yes, change them back to the original and it'll work.

This is purely anecdotal but the phone I had before this was the s2 LTE model on AT&T, when they gave me the code it kept saying it was unsuccessful until I ran out of attempts. However when I actually put in a t-mobile sim card it worked fine and it was fully unlocked. Maybe try that?

You do know that to unlock the phone you need a SIM card from a different company inside the phone so that it asks for Network Unlock Code... SIM Lock is not the same...

Obviously phone is asking for sim network unlock code when we put non accepted sim card. So phone is not unlocked. We do quite a lot unlocking and few phones get this error, we have to refund customer but I am seeking solution for it. It is only in Android phones (HTC and Samsung).. Samsung's we usually unlock using unlocking boxes but HTC One is not supported other than code. (Setool support older HBOOT).

SIM Unlock Reset by HTCDev Bootloader Unlock

Basically, I have an ATT branded M7 that should have been carrier unlocked. First thing I did was complete the HTCdev unlock to install TWRP and supersu. I completed a SIM swap from a mini-SIM to the micro-SIM for this phone and it is asking for the network password which the provider is telling means that it is not carrier unlocked? Could the HTCdev unlock caused this? Seems like the SIM unlock is in a different area of the boot loader that requires s-off so I think no. Need to contact the eBay seller but anyone have any other suggestions? Is S-off and unlock the only option for a permanent SIM unlock?

Bootloader unlock and s-off are not related to sim-unlock. You probably got scammed by the seller, but sim-lock can be removed easily using a sim-unlock code which you can buy online (for really cheap). So it might not worth wasting your time contacting the seller.
There is another method to sim-unlock that require s-off(sieempi)
Sim-unlock is permanent even if you unlocl/relock bootloader or if you turn security on/off (s-on/s-off)
Thanks for confirming. Is there anyway to determine if it has been hardlocked?

what are you talking about? Hardlocked?
Something about if an incorrect code 10 times there's another layer of locks (found AT&T page that references PUK and PUK2 codes). Are those different than the carrier lock we're discussing? Found a cheap code on eBay. Ordered it, will find out shortly I guess.

AFAIK (I'm not an expert on this) PUK codes are used to unlock the device when a wrong PIN was entered to many times in an attempt to access the device. PUK (Pin Unblock Key = Personal Identification number unblock Key) locks the device on a lower level or/and the sim card can become locked (preventing access to data stored on the card) but this have nothing to do with sim-lock that are locking your phone to a specific carrier.
Im not even sure if PUK is still used, ppl just reset their PIN using their google account or they are performing factory reset....
purchase the sim-unlock code, insert the new sim card, enter the code when prompted.
Thanks for the explanation. I did manage to test the new SIM in another phone and it worked and another known good SIM resulted in the same error (new info since OP). Maybe I should have paid more for 15 minute service... ?
Purchased unlock code did the trick.

help! my M8 didn't ask me about the unlock code

I try to unlock my Sprint M8,I tried T-mobile and AT&T sim card.
But my phone didn't likes youtube video, My phone didn't ask me about the unlock code. It just simply tell me the sim card is Invalid.
I have tried to use the unlock helper to unlock it, but it just unlock the internation lock.
I still want to unlock the domestic carrier lock.
Is it the ROM problem?
My phone use the Android 4.4.3,and it is S-OFF.
Please help me!
If you're trying to unlock your phone to use it on another domestic carrier, you're not going to be able to do that. SIM unlocking will work for international use.

Unable to unlock SIM

Hi, i recently bought a Motorola XT1097 on ebay that is at&t sim locked.
I tried to get the unlock code from them, but they answered to me that they cant provide it because that imei is not on their network. I tried others page to get the unlock code with no success.
The phone now has the bootloader unlocked and is rooted, is there any other method to unlock it without needing to have the code? I searched through the forum but couldnt find any answers.
Thanks!
Anyone? :crying:
I Just Have the Same Problem, but my is from CANADA. I try more than 10 service for unlock, contact a Motorola LatinAmerica, Canada, Usa, and the most biggest carrier from Canada, USA and LatinAmerica and anyone can check the imei and either get a unlock code.

How you know it's locked too att? :/ reboot into bootloader menu and check barcodes there will be your model if it was att then you shouldn't get unlock code for bootloader as att doesn't allow it, also try 3rd party unlocl code from motorola database.. I guess its 3$ i use unlockbase.com as its relaible for me. Hope it will help you too
I unlocked it via sunshine, its the only way to unlock xt1097 of at&t right now. I have tried lots of 3rd party with no result.
