CM9 here we come! Sooo exciting!

Just saw this on. PULSE. I can't wait to just try ICS on a big screen. Yippeeeee

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that both Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich are "out there," I sure hope the Nook Tablet can take to this stuff right out of the box. If that's the case, and CM9 or whatever will be ready to roll when the Nook Tablet officially hits stores so I can go demo one (not that it'll be running HC or ICS, obviously), this is gonna be one damned awesome holiday season.
Can't wait to see what some of these talented folks can do with HC or ICS on my trusty HD2 as well. w00t!!!

I also saw that the HC source went out, as someone said earlier, Icant wait to see full versions of either

Why is everyone saying CM9? The current version is CM7. Why would 8 be skipped?

Ill be happy with just honeycomb, but ICS would be nice.

I think 8 was for HC

CM8 was for Honeycomb. Since the source was not released the CM team did not release a honeycomb build.

Google, if you had an XDA account, I'd thank you. Or at least hit the "about time" button.
That said. I wonder if all the work on HC SDK will make it any easier to get a port going?

Perhaps only marginally.
The work that's been done on kernels and hardware drivers for CM7 will be helpful, but of course it will take time to get everything integrated.

Perhaps my understanding of android is off, but I believe SDK = allows us to build compatible kernels for our devices. Source = allows us to build the rom from scratch rather than port it from another device.

The SDK allows developers to build apps and thats pretty much it.

It looks like it unofficially called CM9 by Steve Kondik (aka. Cyanogen himself) and we won't see it until next Jan. Hopefully he won't abandon the NC.

Well his Twitter said "Check back in 2 months" but that is still pretty ambiguous. It could mean that alpha/nightly builds will start coming out long before then, but perhaps he is giving January as a target for semi-stable builds.

Beta Testers Needed {The Nameless}[Beta Closed]

The Beta Team is now closed. I will re-open it when b2 is ready to go live.
My roms been in the pre alpha stages for the past few weeks, ive had a few people testing it all out for me. Now im looking to get a little more feedback. The rom is based off Nils Buisness sense, as that was the closest i could find to stock. there arent any "bugs", because its straight stock based.
What makes this rom special you may ask...
Well, at the moment not a whole lot. its got a pretty unique theme that im hand making, one image at a time, but as of now thats about it. Once the theme is at the level i want it to be, im going to get to work on the rest of the hard dev content. Some of you may remeber that i was working on porting the power wideget in the notification bar over to incredible framework, well thats one of the things you will see in the future.
Im also working on my java skills, and have a pretty bare bones app created that goes hand in hand with the rom. as of now, thats still in the pretty early beta stages, but thats to Myn, i have been able to code in the VERY basic functions.
This also uses a modified-with more modifications to come-version of Myns Rosie. That means his app, Rosie Settings, which enables remapping of the right and left rosie buttons on the fly. This is the only rom running incredible framework that has this feature.
Few of the other features
-working hulu with no demon voices
-5 column app drawer
-smooth sync icons
-working wifi tether
-black-ish market **work in progress**
-gingerbread youtube release
-droid x ringtones
-animations
-Nameless Helper App

CM7 coming...

I know it's not a lot, but hey, I'll take what little news I can get...
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_build/commit/ba34e7ecbaff949e4bd3a946ce92642ec4b0f742
Saw fattire's work on github yesterday. I know the CM team doesn't do anything half-ass so this should be a decent build.
I saw that commit this morning! Very excited.

I see dedicated back and menu buttons on the top. Yes. No search though. Can't wait. 8 )

Looks like the NookColor might also be getting a name change to Encore. Its in the screen shot and also in the github commits.

Man I love the CM guys
Running smooth for me as well soooo stoked about this...now if we can just get an oc kernel I'm not used to 800mhz anymore...can't wait to see how cm7 runs at 1.1ghz
Swyped from a CM7 EVO using the Xda app
how do i actually install this?! :/ i'm on rooted 1.1 stock atm...
My Win7 machine stopped recognizing the NC, so I lost ADB access. Do I need a separate set of drivers, or should the hacked ones from here still work?
[Edit:] Nevermind. Somehow the PID of NC has changed from 002 to 003. Just had to change the relevant lines in android_winusb.inf of the driver installation package, and I'm back in business.

This looks very very promising! I love the multi app layout. I hope this comes to the light of day soon!
Like how they call the OS on the Xoom Gingerbread lol. But yeah this looks promising.
http://www.onskreen.com/index.php is the official site for this. At the bottom there is a sign up option to get notified when updates for the product is released such as beta release.
i can see this as being an integral part of the next upcoming android tablets once tgw newness of honeycomb has worn off. The only problem that I can forsee is the need for better processors beyond a dual ccore 1ghz. The heat and battery drain would have to be addressed as well. But all in all, something to look forqard to

I'd kill to be able to just display 2-3 different apps like the above video even if they were just suspended. In fact that might be another option they could implement to save battery life. It would just make switching between certain tasks easier. I'm still trying to find just what my tablet's niche is in my world...this might actually make it replace my laptop for some work related tasks.
any new info on beta or release date?

Here is what I got back from Onskreen ... I asked them about release date and possible beta testing.
Hi Brian,
Thanks for reaching out to us and for your patience. It is indeed Q3, and we are working as fast as we can with the OEM's interested in including Cornerstone with their devices. It's consuming all of our engineering resources to work with them. That is a good thing and a bad thing. The bad because we can't yet support a user beta.
Regarding Honeycomb, we would not legally be allowed to release a Honeycomb beta with Cornerstone. Since the honeycomb source code is closed and owned by Google, for us to include Cornerstone with it and release it to users would be a violation. Any public beta we do would have to be on Gingerbread.
We're paying attention and know you've been reaching out since the start. We definitely have you on the list, and are doing the best we can.
Thanks!
Onskreen Team

Makes sense now the gingerbread references, clearly this requires modifications to the OS and isn't just a launcher, hence them being unable to go directly to users and being unable to release a honeycomb version.

So....now that this thing is out and it will be open source..............

Thoughts?
SDK is out not source code. Anything built from the SDK will have the same problems as the Honeycomb ports. I can't wait for the source to be released then we can really dig into.

But once its source is released I can't wait for it to be ported to the Nook Color. ICS has many features that would be beneficial for our 7-inch friend.

What are the ramifications of ICS having a native resolution of 720p? Will this hinder its ability to be ported to our Nook Colors and 6 month old phones with qHD displays?
Well they did say it'd be able to go to other devices. I can't imagine them letting it only support new phones. The publicity they'd get for that would be absolutely terrible. Or people would force it to work on it once the source is out.
Alright, so now ICS is around the corner and with all the hype surround it, can someone pls list the advantages of it? What feature does ICS offer that missing on Gingerbread/Honeycomb?
I know one is Widget is resizable, interface is Honeycomb-like.

Hi,
Created a site for anyone to host dumps/roms/etc, If you need somewhere to share ICS from.
http://everyrandom.com/files/
You do NOT have to register, and files are kept as long as you need them.
Fast US link (100MB/100MB) and 2TB of bandwidth.
This is great news, I am glad to see that there is some development interest for the Thinkpad and look forward to one day enjoying some CM9 goodness on my TPT.
Do you know the state of 3G? I guess it's not working.
We'll try to make it as good as we can and thanks for supporting us! Video will come soon and just to know that some problems can't be solved without kernel and some other hardware source code that Leovo didn't release yet so probably there won't be full stable Custom ICS ROM there
I realize this is pre-alpha but do you if any progress is being made towards a ICS port for the ideapad K1? Either way, I'm rezlly excited to see ICS making it way tk Lenovo devices! Thanx!
I already emailed Lenovo asking them to release the kernel source code or else to provide me a personal copy, as they are required to do upon request by the GPL. Hopefully if I get a copy I'll upload it for you guys. But we'll see.
Thanks!

Idea is OMAP3 device and Think is Tegra 2 device so there's a big difference. One guy is working on CM7 and as far as I know it have reboot problems so same is supposed to be with ICS port to.
I tried to contact Lenovo support several times with no luck. Let's hope that they'll respond and release kernel source.
The K1 also runs on Tegra 2, didnt know if you thought I was talking about the A1 but I have the K1. With that being said, is there too much of a difference between the K1 and the Thinkpad Tablet that trying this port on my K1 is out of the question?? Thanks for the fast reply!
oh my bad. I can try to port it if you want but you have to be a beta tester.
