Garmin Navigation window mount works with the HD7 and a case - HD7 Accessories

Hey everyone,
I noticed my phone is held securely with the Garmin windshield mount and the Otterbox case.
If you have one laying around it wouldn't hurt to see if it fits.

Which Garmin unit do you have? I have been waiting a long time to find a car mount that worked with the Otterbox case.

I'm not sure which unit I have, but it's the standard mount they have for like $20.
Looks like this.

Brodit car mount

Mine just arrived and it fits great. Very high quality.
Pictures please
Brodit's own pictures are always so bad !
Can you buy or look at these in any stores in the UK. I'd like to see them before ordering one over the net?
could you turn the device to landscape position? which device have you bought? I've found pages but could't get much more infos
http://www.ecron.de (under 'SUCHE' type HTC HD2)
hello 1pudding1 brodit in u.k
Hello 1pudding1. Go here in the U.K http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/holder/HTC+HD2-Brodit-Holder.asp I purchased my Brodit holder and pro clip for my Touch HD from them it’s a cracking holder you will not be disappointed
Jez
I also bought the passive holder from the same place as jez.stix.
It's a tight fit, e.g. you have to hold the cradle with one hand while pushing the phone up with the other when removing it from the cradle. But that's a good thing as you know the phone won't slide out when in landscape mode.
The car mounts are designed to slide in between gaps in the dash, usually around the vents. The mount is secure enough but if you tried to pull the phone out with one hand you'll end up pulling the mount out of the dash.

Pdair car mount for leather case or the arm one from ebay???

Hi all, after some advice re a car mount for my wonderful little gadget. I have a pdair leather case and as I use my phone a bit in my car (tomtom and some calls and even listening to podcasts etc) I am going to get a car mount and want opinions on the pdair mount http://www.amazon.co.uk/PDair-Sucti...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1267533319&sr=8-2 or the "arm type" mount http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WINDSCREEN-SU...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item5190b13e3c (or something along that line)... any help/advice would be appreciated...
FEI I am leaning more to the pdair version as I wont have to keep taking my phone out of the case and then puting it back in... but the arm type would prob be sturdier... decisions decisions...
I can only comment on the second item - as that is what I bought (along with a PDAir pouch for the HD2).
It holds well onto the windscreen and is reasonably solid. The unit doesn't really need the retaining clip at the top of the phone (unless you are doing some serious off-roading).
The only problem I have found is the length the holder is away from the windscreen. With most cars now coming with very sloping windscreens and the size of the HD2, you may find it very awkward to install and remove the HD2 from the holder (not a problem if you are fitting it portrait ways). My first attempt was to tilt the holder so that the top of the phone was closer to me than the bottom of the phone. Since I prefer to look at the phone without this incline, I used an old Adhesive plate (that came with my old car holder kit for a HTC Diamond), mounted that on the dashboard and attached the car kit to that.
I bought from this ebay seller and it doesn't come with a charger, yet you can buy the same item for the same price on ebay that do include a charger.
Thanks for the info Fred... I ordered one and will see how it works out... the dashboard trick sounds right along the lines I was thinking...

Build a Custom Phone Car Mount for Under $10

I wanted to share this link from Lifehacker with anybody interested in getting a car mount for their HD2 but not wanting to spending $25+ plus.
http://lifehacker.com/5593245/build-a-custom-phone-car-mount-for-under-10
I tried this out but substituted a dash mount for a windshield mount. I got a cheap hardcover case and the universal Garmin mount from eBay. Both items were less than $3 and I got them with free shipping. I also had to buy some super glue since I didn't have any, I just got a small tube of it for $1.50 from Target.
It's worked like a charm so far. I will say that the case I got is a bit tight so my phone doesn't pop out of the mount as easily as the example shown.
Cheers!

[Q] suggestions on a car mount

Can anyone suggest a not too expensive car mount that fits the tmo HD2? the windshield kind, not the vent kind.
NOt sure..but this is the best one!
http://www.proclipusa.com/home/home.aspx?afid=42&admkt=670ca577&gclid=CKTHtJipw6QCFUNM5Qod1Wf8iw
I found a perfect mount at compusa that is made for an iphone but works great on my HD2. can send part number if needed.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I use the Tetrax Xway. It requires a magnet on the back of the case. I initially thought it would be annoying but I positioned it in the very middle of the phone so the phone can spin on it. I can't tell you how much enjoyment being able to spin my phone has been. With a good twirl it can spin for 2 minutes 30 seconds. I really freaked people out when Inception was big as it seemed to never stop spinning like that totem.
But the actual mount attaches to the car's AC vent which is the perfect position. The center console just seems too far away. It can be just to the right of the steering wheel.
An additional benefit is with a neodymium magnet set I got from ThinkGeek I can mount the phone anywhere that's metal. I just take four of the little cylindrical magnets and form a square with them. The phone magnet fits quite well in the divet in the middle of them. I now have a phone mount on the hood of the oven to load recipes while I cook (or watch a movie). It's quite secure, and the magnet won't hurt the phone. Just keep anything with a hard drive away like an iPod.
An interesting possibility would be to buy a cheaper clip on cover from eBay (preferably black) then buy a cheap gps mount. Then glue the case onto the mount. Then you will have an adjustable $10-15 cheap car mount
i wonder if they would make one that fits hd2 that has an otterbox case on it

Ebay car mount - be careful!

I bought this car mount a few weeks ago and have been very impressed with it, even in my old suzuki 4x4 which rattles like a can there is no vibration with the mount.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380292361164#ht_3536wt_1158
However, I have just noticed where the clip hooks the phone at the top, there is that much tension in it, well it has started to lift the top part of the phone away
So I'm going to try heating it up a bit and pulling the tab back a bit so it reduces the tension.
Something for others to watch out for!
Cheers
Todd
For those that have a defender case and want a car mount there are Rocketfish and Bracketron mounts that have the same attachment.
Google shopping results - for rocketfish
Google Results - for Bracketron mounts
These will work with the Dell car mount bracket or the clip on the Defender case.
Interesting feed back Todd, thanks. I was just about to order on.
Hopefully you can answer a question for me then. I was looking at getting one with the belt clip as well, Would the holder for the streak be sufficient that I could just get the one holder and swap this to the belt clip and then back to the windscreen holder? or would I need two holders and swap the Streak between the 2?
Thanks in advance.
Stuart
Can't really answer your question on that Stuart as I do not have a belt clip as well.
If it helps I can take a photo of the holder if you like.
I've got one of these and have not had the same issue.
I've been using mine for about 6 months now and the phone is still perfect?....
Lucky you
I'm not saying it's a bad mount, far from it, the post was just to make folk aware of a potential issue.
Ta
Todd
Nope, that's fine
Just reread my post and it makes it sound like I don't believe
Anyway, mines fine, seems like you had an issue with an over zealous clip.
Although we've only commented on 2, so that's 50% are good and 50% are bad!
i have the same mount for car and also have a belt clip....
These are the two best accessories that i purchased for my phone...
Hi, I have this one called Clingo I bought from ebay.
That is very nice, you can put any phone on that, I'am courier ran about 300 miles day, diesel car, my van vibrate a lot and the phone still there hehe.
I cannot put external links yet, but search for clingo on ebay, that's a good one.
Fabio.
