How to Overclock i9100g GPU and CPU - Galaxy S II I9100G Android Development

Hi friends ... i am not a senior member, i am lil bit above the noobs.
OVERCLOCKING CAN BE INJURIOUS TO CPU
I am not a creator of this method of overclocking or underclocking. This method of overclocking is called MILESTONE OVERCLOCKING.( http://code.google.com/p/opptimizer/ )- AS given in the link that link is broken or file is broken. Dont download it from there. I downloaded the file way back when the link was working good.
There is one problem in overclocking CPU of i9100g, its mentioned below.
If any of u want me to delete this thread that i m just overfilling the forums then most welcome.
Please post ur any information u know about overclocking i9100g. Till now not even a single kernel is available to do overclocking.
As we all know that i9100g is hard capped at 1008mhz .I think, its only superatmos kernel which is now capped at 1200mhz.
METHOD:
It works on superatmos kernel 3.0+stock rom; superatmos + super rom ; Super rom.
1. Flash the given file as given below through CWM.
2. Go to terminal emulator and type
su
cat /proc/overclock/*
3. U will get all the information about ur GPU and CPU. (SEE THE SCREEN SHOT)
If u read it carefully u will notice that in i9100g there are 5 frequency tables
300, 600, 800, 1008, 1200. But u will get only 4 options "mpu_opps" i.e 300, 600, 800 and 1008mhz. It means we can overclock any given mpu_option but not 1200mhz. I have overclocked 1008mhz to 1100mhz with sucess but we cant do it to 1200mhz. So its of no use. If any senior member can do alterations in their roms or kernels and provide us 5 mpu_opps instead of 4 mpu_opps then we can overclock 1200mhz freq also.
IF u want to try then u can edit the init.d script file( GO TO SYSTEM/ETC/INIT.D/00.OPTIMIZE). Method is already mentioned in the init.d script file
(Milestone overclock apllication is also available on MARKET but its not working on i9100g)
4. BUT U CAN OVERCLOCK GPU LIKE A CHARM. (100% sucess)
AGAIN OVERCLOCKING CAN BE INJURIOUS TO GPU
As u have already flashed the given file though cwm and no need to edit script file under "system/etc/init.d" folder.
Now the method is :
- Make script files in "scripter" of romtoolbox applicaton. (Advantage is that u can easily overclock / underclock /or set to default any time)
-I have given the screen shots . Do it just like the way it is mentioned in the screenshots and save them.
GPU WILL GOT RESET TO DEFAULT VALUE WHENEVER U RESTART UR PHONE. I THINK ITS POSITIVE POINT.
I HAVE TESTED IT ON XWKJ2 stock and XXLB1 customed rom
Please mention any other method if u know. If any other method comes into play then we will delete this method.
Thanks for ur patience of reading this long thread
ALL CREDIT GOES TO MILESTONE

I do seen someone post guide for overclock i9100g in chinese forum. He only manage to oc cpu but cannot oc the gpu. The link is here.http://bbs.gfan.com/android-3892668-1-1.html

Its the same method. Actually he has overclocked 800 mhz to 1008mhz and 1008mhz to 1228mhz which may be more harmfull and unstable. We are also duscussing the same thing. We want additional option «mpu_opps 1200« which is missing in our roms or kernel. In cpu status if u notice carefully we have mpu_opps till 1008 only.

[q] gingerdx overclocking

i installed gdx v009 and overclocked it and set the setcpu to 729 Mhz - 122 Mhz. i'm having some trouble sometimes my phone just automatically reboot by it self... is there a way to fix this? or should i uninstall overclock and run it on stock ram. have anyone of you tried this kind of setup? any answers/reply or comments are welcome. please. thanks in advance.
Try lowering your Overclock.
I've heard that some people had reboot problems with OC (but not only in this ROM).
Mine is 122-691Mhz with GingerDx.008 and its okay.

Realy? What seems to be the problem on my unit.... maybe i should set my setcpu setting the same way you did... how about supercharger script have you tried? I brick my phone twice trying that supercharger.
Nope. I didn't try to use supercharger.
I've read that when we want to OC, we should try the different CPU speeds gradually.
Increase a bit and then see if the phone handles it... then increase a bit more... when the reboots or other problems start, we know which frequence we should use.
But the frequence is not the same for every CPUs... The phone is the same, but not every CPUs handle the same... We can be lucky and get it to 800Mhz without problems... but not everyone has that lucky.

Hi all,
any idea why I get no options to set min. and max. CPU frequencies in CPU settings? I am using GingerDX v011 and had the same problem in v010.
I can open the "Max CPU frequency" option, but it is empty with no available frequencies to choose...
Thank you
For using something exactly like supercharger, use the stuff in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212396&page=14
Each phone can OC to a different max frequency, for example I can't OC to 825 MHz but I know some people can.

I believe GingerDx does not ship with the X8Overclock module...
Hello:
I wanna know: is it possible to do overclock in gingerDX-v011 ?
I found a option but they are blocked
yes it is possible but you need to download X8overclock v004. you will find this in DX's signature, just click the link read the guide download and stick it on your phone where he tell's you to. then go back to W/E it is you use to OC then the option's aint blocked anymore.
Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486 click that go to bottom of one of dx's post's in his signature click the X8overclock v004 link. FOLLOW instruction's. DONE
Hope i help'd
If so please Click " THANKS "
Im on gingerdx v018 with undervolt modules(stock kernel), when I try to overclock my phone, it become very unstable(very laggy).. Do I have to remove the underclock module? If so can I just remove the module from the module folder.. thanks in advance!
As far as I know undervolt module causes phone instability when it's overclocked, try to remove that module (undervolt) and see what will happen. You can remove just by removing it from module folder and (I'm not sure but) you have to also remove line from hw_config which contains that module.
I am also using GingerDX overclocked at 710Mhz with undervolt but no problem for me so far

should not need custom kernal. if anything kernal cause more problem than good in this early stage of development

@ALL with the problem.
Check your baseband in settings>>about phone.
it should read something like this >> M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
if it isn't, i'ved attached the latest X8 stock kernel. just unzip and flash with Flashtools.
Edit: I just realized you're using GingerXperia. this particular ROM checks your baseband and will not install unless you're on 015. so, this might not help. But, there's no harm in trying.
As a followup:
Since you're using GX ROM. that means you're, rooted, jitted and Xrecvr'd (CWM'd).
Next, is your bootloader unlocked? Did you load any of the custom Kernel? because if you did, the only overclockable Kernel right now is FXP OC Kernel.
The OC Module only work with the Stock Kernel.
if kernel doesnt support oc.you need to install oc module by yourself editing hw_config.sh and push the module to lib/modules.
The 'overclocking is a procedure that can hurt your loved x8 ergo follow this guide at your own risk!
requirements:
- Rooted
- Banda Basic x15
- SetCPU
1) Download x8oc V004 http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...8&d=1302528982
2) Extract the file and copy it on the sd x8oc.ko
3) By RootExplorer x8oc.ko copied to / system / lib / modules
4) Always go through RootExplorer / system / etc, hold down the file menu and hw_config.sh which opens in selected Open Text Editor
5) At the beginning put this line
code:
insmod / system/lib/modules/x8oc.ko # x8 overclocking
6) Save the changes and restart the phone
hope i helped

As of now, there are no Custom KERNELS that support the OC, MDDI, UV and Gesture Modules, except the Stock KERNEL.
All Custom KERNELS, except FXP OC enabled KERNEL, have already embedded the aforementioned modules, except the OC module.
Most ROMS, except FXP, already have the Modules installed.
in short. Custom Kernels = no overclock
if you want OC and custom KERNEL then use FXP OC KERNEL.
The instructions provided above are for ROMS.
hi we got no custom kernal. my baseband has always been on xxx15 so no need to upgrade their for OC'ing. and to be honest we wouldn't even b able to have this rom on our phone if we didn't have that baseband.
@ nizoorox IGNORE everything the people have said to try and help. i already tried most of it anyway. no i am not unlock my bootloader and have custom kernal untill they are better developed.
NIZOOROX this is how we OC gingerXperia.. simple update to GingerXperia V010.
i did it last night and now i can overclock without doing anything special.
just go to cyanogen mod setting's - performance - cpu - then click overclock and select what Mhz you want t use

Too bad...OC at 821mhz....not what I thought at all.Not to be rude or to flame but you said about 883 mhz in the forum thread.Maybe you should just change and say that it's just another OC kernel just like ketut's.Don't lie about the frequencies they are not yet too good controlled.
If you put in a under/overvolt it may just do the good to make our Ace reach 1ghz.

Good choice not implement this, for all that use oc kernel.
In this way to boot phone should use always basic default frequencies, so avoiding fake boot ;-)

Can you build the kernel??
i read many reference what the best max freq for kernel, and the 883Mhz, is enough for hardware,
so this kernel not just compile, but i read every log when build this kernel and try to fix, to minimize error mod post
if you dont like, dont use it, i just want to share, what i'm doing, and if you like, just give a thanks
maybe i can give a clue, just read below
see this code
Code:
/* MSM7201A Levels 3-6 all correspond to 1.2V, level 7 corresponds to 1.325V. */
enum {
VDD_0 = 0,
VDD_1 = 1,
VDD_2 = 2,
VDD_3 = 3,
VDD_4 = 3,
VDD_5 = 3,
VDD_6 = 3,
VDD_7 = 7,
VDD_END
};
max freq use code 7, its mean corresponds to 1.325V ( max volt )
go, and build your self,
if you know the bug,
please report, not complain
every device with same type is not same on hardware, some people can boot at 883Mhz, but some people cant, and my kernel freq 883Mhz, but not default, all people will know, if freq is bigger than default its mean OC kernel
all feature is not just add but with some modification that need by device for get best result
sorry for my english

no developer to tell or add gpu overclocking and gpu scaling? ??
Wish tegrak would get a note so he can develop CPU+GPU tweaks in 1 go
so that means no developer can add this thing other than tegrak

[Q] [HELP] CPU Only 600Mhz

I have only 600Mhz.
I cant overclock only underclock, even with OC-Kernel.
The problem is on Stock Firmware 2.3.3 and Costoum Roms.
Is there a Hardware-Bug or what else?
Not all chips are made to the same quality. They only have to reach a certain clock speed to pass quality checks. Certain devices can be overclocked due to being of higher quality.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Yes but the default clock of the ACE is 800Mhz right? But MY default clock is 600Mhz.
I dont have any options to overclock only from 124Mhz - 600Mhz.
The default clock of 800Mhz would be ok for me..
You sure its a ace? Galaxy fit / mini & 551 / europa are 600mhz MSM7227 vs 800mhz MSM7227-t 800mhz galaxy gio / ace.
Yes! Its definitely a ACE i have the Samsung box here .. and there are a big label Galaxy ACE "800Mhz CPU"
Which rom are you using? Did you have the same problem on stock rom?
Do you have setcpu, if you do go on Info ; CPU what does it say ; Cpu Part / Cpu Revision / Hardware / Revision ?
If problem presist then go to Samsung service centre and change your phone dude

Hi @Cr0nFixXx!...
It would seem to me that your problem is your Kernel... The details in your first thumbnail show the kernel to be that of a different dev to @Ketut...!!! Your OC Kernel details should read as this : 2.6.35.7-perf-CL562111 [email protected]#4
The frequencies of the Cpu are governed solely by the kernel, so this is without a doubt your limiting factor...
The below kernel is tried & tested by thousands of users & is stable under OC...(check my sig for details)...
You can download this kernel from my dropbox here : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44779766/cm-7.1-oc-kernel-2.6.35.7-perf-CL562111.zip
Flash this kernel from CWM recovery... Reboot phone, go to cyanogen setting/Performance & you should get the full cpu range for OC...
To see stable max OC set governor to "Performance"... Remember, only increase cpu frequency a little at a time & test for stability before increasing further...
Only when you have found your max stable clock speed can you tick "set on boot"...
FYI : OC kernels can only be used with custom roms... They will not work with stock roms... @Ketut's OC kernel will only work with CM7.1 / 7.2 Roms... Do not try with any other rom...
Stay Breezy n Be Lucky...
Pe"ACE"...

Hey Dude...
This is a very strange problem indeed... The Armv6 cpu is standard 600mhz cpu but samsung factory OC it when it is used in our aces... so we end up with an end-user frequency of 806mhz... Yours won't even reach that out of the box...?
Do me a favour... Flash this rom here : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44779766/IceCreamSundayFinal_Tweaked.zip
It is IceCreamSunday Final by @Jusada... It is considered the fastest & most stable rom available on XDA & the OC kernel is inclusive of the rom...
Once flashed, go to cyanogenmod settings, performance, cpu & tell me what frequencies you get offered...?
FYI : It doesn't matter what your baseband or firmware version is... Ensure that you are using CWM 5 to flash with... Also ensure that before flashing you do a full system, cache, data, Dalvik wipe to ensure a clean flash... This rom is 7.2 btw...
Stay Breezy n Be Lucky...

I dont know whats my phones problem but it dont worked for me -.- even max. 600Mhz...
But great thanks for your help!
LoL the first thing that entered my mind is "maybe samsung forgot to overclock" my suggestion is go to samsung and tell them to overclock that.. or simply say it's defective
approach samsung and get new phone..
man if it showing 600 dont overclock

but he should get 800 which he paid for
hey wait isnt ace's cpu like the 600mhz ones but only OC'ed to 800?
I'm done explaining
A fault with the processor probably.. ARMv6 anyway has 600Mhz by default and Ace has been factory overclocked to 800Mhz.. which is the simple reason why each Ace is so different and has so many problems regarding battery life. Overclocking is a delicate procedure..
To the point:
Just take it to the service center to get what you paid for!
