***This project is no longer maintained following the release of AOKP M6***
Thanks for everyone who used it, maybe make a return in Jelly Bean
Modifies Search Key to Recent Apps instead of home long press.
Compiled by me using code kanged from evilisto http://bit.ly/JJ88Jl
I know there is another thread but Since evilisto took a break there have not been updates
Thus I will compile and keep flashables updated with AOKP builds and every so often with CM9 nightlies.

AOKP M6 REVERT
CM9
**CM9 has now integrated the mod in the latest nightlies and only a key edit is needed now**
With a root explorer, open /system/usr/keylayout/cypress-touchkey.kl and change SEARCH to APP_SWITCH the reboot.
You can also going into /system/usr/keylayout/cypress-touchkey.kl and edit APP_SWITCH to SEARCH to restore search button.
Disclaimer: These may or may not work with ROM's based on CM9 or AOKP. If you try, prepare the revert with android.policy.jar pulled from your ROM zip framework.
CM9 nightlies are subject to change, which may cause incompatibilities. I will try to update weekly, but please post if it doesn't work for a specific nightly and I will try to update ASAP. Also I only have a Vibrant so I cannot test for all devices.
Does not work with ICS Slim right now. Stock ICS work in progress.

Works great! Thank you! Any chance you can do this for the crespo4g (nexus s 4g)? There is nobody doing it since evilisto stopped updating.
Man i would love to see this cooked into aokp as an option!

The mod should work for all devices, just need to use correct key mappings.
I might make a thread for nexus later.
EDIT: Looks like nexus uses same key map as cappy

Tried it on AOKP, and its awesome how smooth it is!
Is there any reason why this wouldn't work on nexus s stock 4.0.4 with root?
Its still my daily rom for rather silly reasons.

thanks...confirm that works on latest cm9 kang\nightly

Hi looks cool. Could you make one for Gummy 1.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540507) or does any of the existing ones work? The gummy thread says "Android AOSP 4.0.4 Based (neither CM nor AOKP we built this from the ground up)"

[MOD] Autorotate Stock ICS Launcher v0.1

Here is a flashable zip that will install an ICS launcher that I modified from Koush's CM9 Alpha 11.
It will enable Autorotation of the stock ICS launcher enabling you to use it in landscape mode.
THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED ON KOUSH'S CM9 ALPHA 11 BUILD!
I will take no responsibility if anything gets messed up but will try my best to help. Be smart, make a NANDROID backup.
Version 0.1 Fixes issue where launcher would still rotate even with auto rotation turned off in system settings.

I want to test this on BM V6 but first I want to know how I will reverse it if it doesn't work?

reflash the BM zip. I'm gonna see if I can play around and create a zip to restore to whatever launcher it was before. I'm fairly new to this though so we'll see.
In anycase, BM's rom is based off CM9 A11 isn't it?

Yeah... every AOSP ROM that I've tried doesn't have autorotation enabled for the launcher... What ROM are you talking about Zigg?
sdk Ports had autorotation. This works great on Brainmasters v.6, 3g
Sent from the bowels of hell
Proud to announce it works perfectly on BMv6 3g, except it's always active and doesn't comply with autorotation setting.

evilisto said:
no.... and sorry AOKP rom users... I don't have much time to compile this mod for each roms, so I compiled stock AOSP version only and made cm9 and pete version using that. this is not much difficult because all these roms have same "recent apps" source code... but AOKP rom's source code is little different because of its horizontal(WebOS style) app switcher option. so to make AOKP version, i think compiled from source code is better than editing smali. (mainly because i don't know much about smali editing ...)
but i think... if many users requested this, they can easily include this mod in their rom as another app switcher option..
anyway, i'll post source diff soon so you can easily compile aokp version yourself.

Yeah apparently their frameworks differ too much to work.
Revert only replaces with unmodded. aokp policy.jar so same problem since not compatible.

Yeah apparently their frameworks differ too much to work.
Revert only replaces with unmodded. aokp policy.jar so same problem since not compatible.

Im guessing the CM9 one might work. Either that or the stock one(go to evilistos thread).
Otherwise might have to use Slim repo to get it to work.
EDIT: Neither CM9 nor Stock IMM76D files work... I will look into it.

dont really know why you bothered to post... it would be an optional add-on. if the OP wanted to make it, it would be available for slim, not mandatory.

Having trouble building stock with ubuntu 12.04. Google might fix it later.. Sorry

Too bad... maybe I'm just switching to CM9 to be able to use it. Still thanks for the work!
Any chance you'd update it for AOKP B38? It has some fix/updates I really like/could use, but I'm too addicted to this mod that I just can't update to B38 yet...

Maple Syrup's thread is about Android 4.1.X (CM 10.0).... This thread is about Android 4.2.X (CM10.1)..... in plain english its a major update for Android JB 4.1. Introducing some new features.

you should be able to. I recommend still backing up your ROM first, just in case.

He just needs to create a new thread. He did what CM did, he started building CM 10.1 releases and stopped developing CM 10 abruptly. His OP is just out of date.
A Mod needs to step into his thread and just state that, IMO.

Flashed and this is really smooth. But I hate the new nav bar layout, so flashed back to PA 1.9b. Either way, using your great work, d2dyno!

Yeah, it took me some getting used to, but for 4.2.1, it's well worth it!

Well, I didn't know. I'll still be building this though, and maintaining it.
Not working?
Could you tell me if there are some known major issues with this ROM (or at least direct me to a "log of known issues")?
Are cameras working in the meantime?
Thanks in advance
Does anyone know how to/if you can get the search bar in nova to be white like the stock launcher in 4.2?

That +100. Once the initial rom is done, alls necessary is do the same exact things for the other phones.
To Eveyrone
If some of ya'll had any idea how easy it is to do we'd have a lot more roms available. For most roms, all ya gotta do is add in the Dev Team's CM repos, maybe tweak a few makefiles in device or device-common (just reference the SGS3), go to vendor/whatever, copy the SGS3 files and reword them for us, add us to the vendor/whatever lunch script....that's it. That's how almost all of us are doing the custom roms. I suggest the SGS3 because it has the same board as us (msm8960) and you want to reference a device as close to us as possible. What's cool is the X is supposed to have the msm8960 as well as being the same resolution as us....X better ship with a 4.3+ kernel that Hashcode, Epinter, Dhacker, and the gang can use.
Cool.. Any screenshots of this ROM? People who have flashed how is the battery life?? Thanks a lot for the ROM dude..

Hey guys, as of recently it has been tough to keep up with posting "OP Updated" whenever I update a ROM since I have quite a few ROMs I'm supporting on 3 different forums. So from now on, it is gonna be up to you to check the link in the OP for updates. I will be updating all ROMs regularly... So check back often. Thanks guys and ENJOY!

Probably this one or aokp. Used to be aokp no question... But slim has won my heart recently... Been running it for a week. Longest I have run a rom in ages.
I'm having some trouble getting Gapps to run on this ROM. I'm using the 7.8 version, and the Gapps from Slimroms for version 7.x. In particular, the Play Store keeps saying that there's no connection, even when there is - I can use the browser.
Any suggestions?
