How is your gaming performance? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says.
Im on cm7 and even simple games like temple run and cartoon quality games lag for me.
Im really not sure how to get some decent gaming performance!

I have tried this 10000 times. When im on gingerbread and run big games like mwc3 or shadowgun, it lags very much. I need nvidia plugin to run them smooth. On ics, it's like havin a sgs3

You need nvidia plugin? Is that something I can download from the play store, or is it chainfire?

It's CHAINFIRE FIRST INSTALL THE APP then search for nvidia pulgins in my opinion try an ICS rom like cm9 or slim ICS so you can play all your favourite games freely without lagging

I quite agree with this topic: I'm currently running stock 2.3.6 XXJVU ROM with CF-Root kernel, so no optimization on the part of the CPU. Games such as Contract Killer Zombies start to lag when too many enemies are displayed at the same time...
I'm thinking of upgrading to the ICS TiramiSlim RC2, I read and also got feedback from a friend, and it's one of the most efficient ICS ROMs so far...

cm9 nightly ... more than excellent

Why would ics improve gaming?

None of the GB roms, including cm7, use HW acceleration?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA

seriously
gaming in ics is better now
try slimics or sgs333 or cm9 . gaming is just smouth

I have used Slim ICS, and as stated above, it works very nicely.
Gamerzrom v11 (GB) also works very well. Temple Run goes smoothly on that rom if you wanna stay on GB.

[Q] CM9 (Fat'n'Creamy) vs. CM10 (JCSullins)

Hi,
I just thought it would be useful to start a thread focused specifically and exclusively on the pluses and minuses of the two great choices we have for our Touchpads.
I suspect a lot of us are sitting with CM9 nightlies and wondering which way to leap...what do people think? What are the benefits and issues with each?
Thanks.

I'd say that is more of a "Pro" than a "Con", in my opinion.
Even without flash support we can still install it and run it with native browser or Firefox.

I was noticing graphics errors with flash on CM10, either low FPS or scrambled looking flash elements. I also got this in other UIs in CM10 randomly. I went back to CM9 since I don't really see the benefit of CM10 at the moment.

What's considered to be the best rom for stability and battery life that is ICS or JB?

(Game) lag?

My gs1 is running on cm10.1.
While playing simple games like Temple run it lags pretty bad making gameplay annoying. Not running any apps in the background. Why do I have this? Any fix?

Try live overclocking, which gives more power to CPU and GPU, or try Slim Bean RC1 - Temple run 2 is really smooth, and AnTuTu gives 4800-5100 points (over 2000 points in 3D), so it's the best ROM for now.

Change your Rom to Vanilla Rootbox. Temple Run 2 runs lag free without OC/OV. Best Rom for SGS1 based on my experience from countless Rom flashings.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 Vanilla Rootbox
Kernel: Mackay 0.240
Instead of overclocking your general cpu speed you should try to use the app PerApp. It lets you set min and max cpu speed and other stuff for each individual app.
If you are a gamer then try gamerzrom, its the best by far

[Q] LQ4 or LQB?

LQ4 or LQB which is better, more stable?
Latest...
Sent from my GT-I9070 using Tapatalk 2
Both are almost the same, but users reportrd that LQB have some lag fixed, specially in phone and camera app. Though do keep in mind to see which mod that can be supported, LQB is still new so there's not much mod here available, but most LQ4 mods are compatible with LQB, some are not. I personally use LQ4 and sticking with it until samsung release something significantly better, like per say a final stable build. Though it would be better if there's an AOSP or AOKP support for our phones.
I don't know why but LQB has been laggy for me.. I also got lots of Force Close errors too.. I noticed a lot of lags on the overall UI and in scrolling too.. that's why I switched back to LQ4 that's why..
Id say lq4..no lags with co-core e 5.0..very smooth..
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
Haven't use LQB before, but yes LQ4 is indeed satisfy me. Like I said I'd stick with LQ4 for now until it's worth to update. I don't like formating my phone often, cause restoring data are troublesome for me and I don't want to take chances on damaging my emmc chip
At the moment I LQB but seemed better LQ4 I just hope not to be an erroneous .. therefore I need your opinion.

ROM opens first when I installed the game fine. of the programs loaded the game I'm playing, but froze to death
installed on the phone CyanAOSP and CyanCore 2.4.1
How can I solve it. The problem is the third part applications, right?
or am I wrong?
Belive me, all the custom kernels are pretty much the same when it comes to frames per second in games, the only thing you have to be shure to do if you relly want to boost fps is disable all gps and location functions...I dont know why but it really impacts the performaces...
Anyway i suggest you the lastest c-rom mix v16 by aways that comes with semaphore kernel.
Or you can go for the stable cm10, cm stock kernels most of the time have better performances in games in my opinion.
And also its always better to leave the stock kernel of the rom you are installing...Always in my opinion
If you ask about gaming ROM then GamerzRom is the answer

Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
You can reach the score reached by 5aaled also with c-rom without oc to death your phone, only 10 %.... anyway i think that is not the benchmark that counts but you really understand the performances of a rom after u use it for dealy use.
I used roms with scores of 5500 and more but when it comes to general performaces in dealy use and gaming the result is not high like the one that the benchmark tells you..
This is just my opinion

we all know benchmarks are not reliable, games are best tests and they work great on it, i post benchmark for people who like it
btw this is the best 3d graphic score i had from all other roms, The best one of them has given me 19xx
just try it, i'm sure you will like it
I am going to try the new version of gamerzrom because they updated the cm rom and the changelog for the base was quite impressive...memory leaks fix also...I think is the 2.1 version...I was not so impressed by the 2.0 did u spent tkme with the c rom mix 16? Its a first build with new base and of course there are some minor problems...I suggest u to try also the lastest liquidsmooth relase wich is the base for c rom now..very nice and smoot

As I said before, benchmarks are not reliable you can get 5500 or 4200 or even less...just try to play something and you will get better results...there is also an app to mesure fps in games...I dont remember the name just look for it...then you will really get something reliable.

How emulators run on this device?

Hello, i dont have this phone yet but i have it on my list.
My question its how emulators run on this phone? I know tegra3 will have problems
with some apps on EA and gameloft but how it runs on emulators?
I dont mean snes,nes,sega...i mean on the heavy ones
Like n64oid, FPSE with opengl, PPSSPP, mame4droid reloaded or any experimental
emulator like Nintendo DS, Dreamcast, etc.
But mostly on n64 and FPSE with opengl its my question.
Because i want a new cellphone for emulators and youtube...and my current options
are this or motorola razr i
Thanks by the way, and sorry for my bad english.
I'm using PPSSPP a great and promising emulator of PSP and Dragonball Z Shin Budokai or Pes 2012 are lagfree however you have to change the settings to play with no lags.
I also tried Dsoid, a Nds emulator, which runs perfectly with all games I tried

I tried PPSSPP after I saw your post to play my favourite game Loco Roco. It runs smooth but with distorted graphics. Can you recommend any settings to play it with proper graphics?

Under settings go to the graphics settings and desactivate the buffered rendering this will improve a lot your graphics also active the stream VBO
I also choose the big buttons cause the buttons are too small for me
That's all I think I do

You can activate the buffered rendering, that will decrease your graphics but will improve the performance. You can also play with the settings of the app to see which configuration fits you perfectly.
You can change your governor to "performance" too.
I do not know this game but he may be a little bit to recent to work smoothly on our phone.
For example, I can play Pes 2013 but it is a bit laggy and i have to change de settings

PPSSPP is only in beta so lags can caused by the program, and its not all compatible with every PSP games. I dont tried all emulators but i think all casual game emulators are lag free.

If you want to reduce the heat, you can undervolt try different combination of scheduler and governor, that may solve your problem.
However, I have to admit that my phone heats up a lot when I play heavy games and charging (with fast charge) at the same time.
