[Q] Google Play endless downloading - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've read lots of similar theread here, but they didn't help me to solve the issue. Please help!
The situation is the following.
Today I chose a Flash Player to download in GP, and it just didn't make a move to complete the task. The I tried other apps, the case rests the same. The downloading is endless, regardless what I have used:
- hard reset from "volume up - home - power" mode
- wiping hash data from the same place
- clearing data from apps/all in Google Play, Google Services Framework and Download Manager
- deleting-re-adding Google accounts
- trying download from Wifi and 3g modes
Galaxy Note is just four days old , which were clear and sunny.

I had this problem when getting the updates for applications not allowed in China like Facebook and YouTube. i had to jump on my vpn to fix that issue
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA

Why don't you try installing an alternate version of GP ?
Not necessarily a new one, just a different one....search around and you should find one.
Install it and then clear data for all google services, alternative to clearing data just do a wipe and then see if it works.
If nothing works....flash a new rom
Atleast, this is what I'd do

Humph... I guess, it works now *touching the wood*
The case was the strangest comparing to what I've seen on the web. After I've reinstalled the GP several times, it did download several of my apps before freezing again. Then I just made the new hardreset, and it suddenly started to operate.

MotoG 2nd Gen XT1068 OS issues

Hello,
My phone (out of warrenty) was dropped in water, so had to change some hardware outside. After which I kept getting play store errors. Many apps would also throw random errors, even after doing factory reset. So I thought may be ROM too need to be flashed due to new hardware. I searched for the Stock ROM (Kitkat 4.4.4) and found one (phone shows 21.11.27.titan.retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03retin). I flashed it (I just had to run a file on fastboot mode - Auto Restore Script.bat). After that I havent been able to install apps through play store. It keeps popping error 495. I can install a few apps at random, but not everything. I did the whole process at least 3-4 times again, changed wifi connection etc. No luck. Any help here?
PS: I am totally a new person to all android related stuff, but ready to learn if right instructions are given. Thanks.
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section.
Good luck!
yuppie, on lollipop now!
@garrittw: your response is a little too late You see, in my desperate attempts to make my phone work, I got it on Lollipop 5.0 (used the files from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...m-1-tweet-rate-thread-add-poll-titan-t2989793)
The end scene is that everything is working on my phone. But it took a lot of time to make it happen. After installing gapps, I continuously got google play services error. The same play store problem persisted too. But this time something different happened. After 2-3 attempts at downloading one app, i got it to donwload. Also updated google play services somehow. It was frustrating though as for every app download I had to try multiple times. Surprisingly amazon appstore downloads were successful. So I also used that to download the ones available there. But I am happy now that my phone works perfectly with all the apps that I need up to date . I am feeling so happy about it, as this was my first stint at android troubleshooting as a total novice
However I still think I will run into the same play store problem whenver I would try to update any app, so I think I will use your patch anyway. Thanks

Try this:
Settings > Apps > swipe until you see category "all"
Search for "Google Play Store" and clear data.
Search for "Googe Services Framework" and clear data.
Now open the play store and try to install something.
If you still get 495 go to Settings > Accounts and delete your Google account. Restart phone and add your Google account. Should be fixed.
tried everything on 495, no luck

I had tried ALL the suggestion on the internet for 495, nothing worked. Even flashing multiple versions of systems dint work. Still get 495 at times with the 5.0.2, but works when i try multiple times. I also tried different wifi connection, no luck there too

Has anyone been experiencing Google Play Store issues, i.e. cannot update apps or DL

Hello All,
Apologies if this has been addressed already. I did try to search for the issue and have found various articles outside of XDA, but none internally. Yesterday, or perhaps the day before, I noticed I was unable to update any of my apps via the Google Play Store.
I tried the basic troubleshooting steps.
Reset mobile data.
Did a clear cache and data on the Play Store app, as well as Google Play Services (this also kicked me back to an older version of play, when I go to settings and click build, it says it will install a new version of Play, i.e. the one I had prior to a Data clear, but I never get it).
Removed and re-added my google account on my phone.
Stopped short of doing a factory reset, as I am not too keen on doing so just yet.
Called Google Support (or rather, used their callback feature built into the play store app), and they were absolutely clueless. The guy literally said, there is no solution to this problem and hung up on me, sounded like the gentlemen may have been from Africa, or the call center in Africa. Whatever the case, it was clear he had absolutely no technical knowledge or ability other than reading 3 lines from a script.
In any event, has anyone else been experiencing this issue, and is there a solution and/or any insight or updates regarding this?
Thanks in advance.
Do you get any errors from Play Store while trying to update apps?
No errors, whatsoever. Just stuck on downloading. Tried it over WI-FI and it still didn't work. Then went tried a different Wi-Fi and was able to download apps and update apps again, but I still can't download or update anything over my mobile network.
At one point, I got a timeout message coded (925). Searched around for that, and none of the fixes worked (I had already tried tjose fixes anyway).
MODERATOR, please move this to the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 forum. Apologies. I was at work when posting this, and didn't check which forum I was in when posting. This should be addressed in the T-Mobile Note 5 forum. Thanks!!
Clear data and cache of Play Store app, then connect to VPN (change your IP address to another country), and run Play Store, see if it works or not.
Ok TAEL, I will try this and get back to you.
Found the culprit. Apparently, on the Note 5, there are fine grained settings for restricting background data for certain apps and processes. I had restricted background data for "Media", and this was the issue. Thank you for your help!
You silly guy, you.

P9-AL00 EMUI5, GooglePlay market works only on Wifi

Hi All,
Since my P9 got upgraded to EMUI5/Android 7 I am experiencing problems with Google Play.
-When on Wifi aeverything works perfectly BUT
- When on mobile network, GooglePlay Market can search, display results, pictures and etc but does not download anything, either new apps or updates to existing. It's just stuck in "Donwloading" but there is no progress, and the speed shown in my P9 status bar is 0B/s.
- All the other applications work on Mobile Network with no problems, i.e. I can browse, and etc.
Here's what I tried so far:
- Made sure both the Market and corresponding Service are given full trust + all permissions are granted,
- Both Market and its service have full data access (i.e. Mobile 4G and usual, WLAN, Roaming),
- Cleared all cash and data for both Market and its service,
- Removed my account, restarted the phone, re-added the account.
- Enabled data plan with stellar limit, added Market to exclusion from the plan, removed data plan (i.e. unlimited data).
- Checked permissions and access log to see if anything asked for something that was denied. Nothing.
- Contacted Huawei Support, heard I need to do steps above. Did them all again.
- Found on the internet some ideas about some settings that need to be changes in "Downloads" app to allow big files. But my downloads app doe snot have such setting.
- Found out that there should be some "Download Manager" app, found it in Service list, but there's no app with that name so I can't really open it.
Nothing works. That Market just wouldn't work on Mobile. It does not ask for anyhting, does not complain. Just gets stuck in "downloading" and does nothing, but on WiFi it works perfectly.
Please help!
PS. Everything worked before upgrade to EMUI5/Droid 7.
Phone info: Chineese bought P9-AL00, set to English language, All google apps downloaded and installed via the HiApp and then the Market. Upgrade to EMUI5/Droid7 was legit OTA upgrade (not some custom flash).
I experienced kinda the same problem. Go to Settings > Mobile data > Networked apps > System apps. Is Download Manager checked or unchecked? I had unchecked this by a mistake and it wouldnt let me download apps from Google Play store (stuck on downloading). Now that the checkmark is there i have no problems.
Nope, everything is OK there.
BTW, I got reply from Huawei Support. They say they don't know what the problem is and that I should talk to the vendor of Google Play. Very helpful.
Update: tried Factory reset. Installed Google Play from HiApp onto freshely rested P9 - same thing, n downloads from Mobile network.

Phone stuck on Preparing for Setup

Device: Xiaomi Mi A2 Android One
ROM: Stock Google Android 9 Pie
I recently had to do a hard factory reset on my Android One Xiaomi Mi A2 phone. After reset a particular notification keeps insistently reappearing - it is from two different apks that are part of the stock ROM/OS - Android Setup (with a circular arrow timer icon) and Android setup (with a gear icon). Both the apks have the same name but different icons and listed separately. They can be found by clicking on Settings>Apps & notifications>See all apps>Show system. I am currently on Android 9 Pie.
The notification from Android Setup (with a circular arrow timer icon) gives two options - connect to WiFi or Use Mobile Data. On choosing either option it takes me to a white screen that has a gear symbol/icon on top and right below it it says PREPARING FOR SETUP... and below that it says YOU CAN FINISH SETTING UP YOUR Mi A2 SOON... At the bottom of this screen it has a rectangular Start button but that remains greyed out. I waited two days on this but it remained same. I did hard reset numerous times and re-setup phone but issue would not go away.
So then I did a reset from Recovery/Hard Reset again. Then I did the following in the order I mention - Set-up the phone as new / Chose Do not back up data or apps from previous save - Unchecked all apps that I had earlier that Google was trying to reinstall automatically after reset as per backed up info of my device on Google servers. Once phone was on homescreen I went to PlayStore and updated Google Play Services first thing. Then I installed all available updates. Then manually reinstalled all apps I earlier had on my phone one by one. After all this, notification from Android Setup (with a circular arrow timer icon) reappeared and same issue - whether I choose Use Mobile Data or connect to wifi it would just take me to PREPARING FOR SETUP screen and stays there with Start button greyed out and notification bar indicators showing no data being transmitted up or down.
So then I went into settings, force stopped it (Android Setup with a circular arrow timer icon) and deleted cache and data for this apk. Left it overnight. In the morning I see that there is the same notification but this time from the Android Setup (with a gear icon) and the only option is connect to wifi. Upon connecting to wifi it takes me to the same PREPARING FOR SETUP screen with start button greyed out and does nothing. So this time I went into settings and forced stopped this (Android Setup with a gear icon) system apk and deleted its cache. Delete data option is greyed out, although it shows some data is stored. This makes notification go away but once I reboot phone it reappears.
I have done research online and many others have faced this exact same issue, exact same PREPARING FOR SETUP screen. But many different handsets, many different roms. Most common solution offered online was to delete cache and data for Google play Services and PlayStore. That was of no help in my case. Mine is a completely stock Android One 9 Pie rom, strictly no mods whatsoever. I doubt this has anything to do with the phone manufacturer, because they would not mess with those system apks I have mentioned earlier. It seems connected to Play Services apk and backed up phone settings/information on Google servers. Might have something to do with RESTORE DATA AND SETTINGS WHEN APP IS REINSTALLED setting option in the Android OS. I attempted to delete backed-up device settings, passwords and app info backed up on Google's servers, and then did a reset again and set up as new, but problem is still there.
Any help/info/etc. you can provide about this would be much appreciated ...
(Attached screenshot is from a Pixel device but I am facing exact same issue, hence using this screenshot)-

No its not Beta Pie. Its a full public release, updated through OTA.
I have seen this problem mentioned in Nexus, Pixel and Oneplus6 Forums as well (among others) so not sure if it is specific to Pie ...
SOLVED
After all the steps mentioned in original post, heres what I did - Went into my Google account and removed phone from devices listed under my account. Reset phone. Set up - as new (chose do not restore backed up setttings/apps/data)(did this setup with wifi). Towards end of setup Google still tries to reinstall some apps that were installed before, so tapped on REVIEW APPS and unchecked all checked apps. Three apps were still listed with no option to unselect. Continued. Got to home screen. Problem notification appeared. This time tapped on USE MOBILE DATA option on the notification. It did not go to problematic PREPARING FOR SETUP screen but went to another screen that said installing 3 apps (the 3 apps that could not be unchecked as I mentioned earlier), and after a few minutes of seeming to be stuck, just completed on its own!
PROBLEM SOLVED. Mentioning everything done in detail in the hopes that it will help someone else. Cheers!!:good:

Realise this thread is a little old, but I had the same problem and did not want to reset the phone again. I am using LineageOS 16.0
Most of the solutions appear to be little more than try again.
I found the following work:
When the option comes up, go back ("<") key from the screen that shows a grey "Start" button. This should give the WiFi options. Click the WiFi which is connected, and then click Advanced. Change Metered from Automatic to Unmetered. Click finish / ok as necessary and it should then work.
I can only assume that Android is detecting the connection is metered therefore refusing to do the final setup. Hope that this helps someone!
Don't forget to set the connection back to automatic / metered if applicable!
What i did and helped is that i deleted the Google account, restarted the phone and the Update went through.
what worked for me - i had to install gapps first and then just factory reset in twrp - a20 205w - running lineageos16

Just change the Wi-Fi options from automatic to unmetered

Question PlaysStore Unable to Install & Update Apps Since December Patch.

The issue is with APP updates, Simply can't be performed, although all regular solitons for google play had been performed (Even actually clearing the cache partition on the phone), The Apps just download but can't be installed, even pushing a sideload sometimes works and sometimes not - I've checked permissions, rebooted phone, cleared cache, uninstall updates, etc. Nothing works!
Phone is updated to the latest Android 12, One UI 4.0
If you press the send feedback and look in the event logs seeing error -503 when failing to install/Update an APP.
Is anyone experiencing the same issue? is it a Samsung & google side issue or something I can fix on my end?
You're on Android 12, One UI 4.0?
Correct (Forgot to mention that)

My friend has the same issue. Did everything, nothing helps. Hoping for a solution
Unfortunately and although I’ve researched the issue as much as possible,
There is no visible solution, the issue is been reported by a lot of users
The only way around this is to Factory reset the phone,
The issue is than been resolved! – Tested and confirmed on my S21 ULTRA.
I am now running android 12 ONE UI4 latest security patch with zero issues
Checked Refresh Rate, Facebook, Camera, All are working flawlessly
Steps That I’ve taken:
Backup your Data (Pictures, WhatsApp, documents, Passwords, etc.)
Factory reset your phone from the About Phone > Reset Menu
Let the phone boot to Startup Screen, and power it off again.
Go into recovery mode (hold and press Power & volume UP while connecting to PC)
Now Proceed with caution!
Delete cache partition
From the menu pick Repair Apps – The phone will reboot and optimize Apps
After configuring the account and some other stuff proceed to google play and update ALL.
This seems to be working on my phone SM-G998B/DS PDA G998BXXS3BUL1
try force stopping & clear data off google play store and google play services & re sign-in into your google acc
Practically this is the reason behind rollout suspension.
There's no solution for you, except a full wipe or waiting for the next (hopefully near to release) update.
